A nice alternative for this mask, for those who don't have hte time/manpower to raid for this one, is:

https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=16662

Relatively fast raid, don't need massive numbers.

And it will let some of the people who posted below see why enchanters need FT also. Controlling adds is half the fight on paffa.
Cleric OOM????
# Apr 23 2004 at 1:34 PM Rating: Default
Since when do clerics go oom on raids? I myself never see it happen. In my opinion, Clerics are least in need of FT. The fact is that almost every time that a MA dies in a raid it is not because of lack of mana, but instead a mistimed heal. This should really go to a SK for many reasons. This would be good for a Pally except for the obvious lack of wis here. Sk can be pretty good DPS especially if mana permits and can also pull and such. Also, they can heal themselves from AE and a bit of misplaced damage with a couple of lifetaps. Just my two cents.............Oh and on bards, they only really use mana while soloing so in a raid situation it really wouldnt benefit much.
RE: Cleric OOM????
# Sep 15 2004 at 5:51 PM Rating: Decent
So why dont clerics go oom on fights ? Cause they got C5, a bard playing mana, nine, necros feeding them, a paragorn rotation and last but not least FT15...
As for SKs especially needing FT... SKs have lich form so that makes them a little less dependant on FT than others.
As for bards, just read the other reply....

it should go to anyone with a mana pool willing to spend enough DKP to win it.

the only way i see someone having a right to complain is if some greedy pure melee was an *** and went for it. it would be like a wizard taking a vengeanceX item.

Heard of Fading Memories? Yeah, that helps a bit on raids. Takes 900 mana each time you use it, and with only FT, MC, and that dinky med skill of 1, getting mana back is a lil bit hard

Casters Roll
# Nov 26 2002 at 9:20 PM Rating: Default
As much as i would hate to Admit it (I play a Sk) this would NEVER go to a Hybrid unless the Raid Casters already have it, It would be a UBER SK mask, the AC u can work with plus 100Hp, as you know hybrids dont get alot of Hp with lvl as other tanks they are Acompaniend with. Casters get all the GOOD INT gear...lol

Well here's the thing. When an item drops... the raid has to think about 2 things... what is the person going to do with this that will help the Guild/Raids... and then what will he/she do to help themselves on their own time.

FT items are basically all to help yourselves on your own time. On raids everyone has Crack, Bot9 if they want it... FT items don't even help much for anyone, except bards. Now it comes down to if Bards are doing anything on raids (if they know their class and if they aren't lazy =P)

What does help a guild on raids is More HP and More Mana. If ANYONE on raid has more HP that can always be helpful in some shape or form. Also if basically any caster has more mana it is more helpful, because everyone can find something to use their mana on in a raid, yes even Hybrids.

Frankly this item is good for raids only because of its HP/Mana, Int, and Cha... I'd say roll it up bards but then again sometimes bards don't know what they are doing.

Now you see why you let the guilds handle it seperately? Sure its a "nice item" and FT is always cool, but FT is for almost always casters to use on their own time, not on raids. This is why this item would basically be an open item to anyone.

Mask is good for anyone. You are also forgetting bards though. Bards dont get to use mana regen, however, FT items they can use and they do work, this is the ONLY way they can get mana regen.

Yeah, i can see that the stats are fairly nice. i wouldnt mind an extra 100 HP's and that Dex boost would certainly help me proc. But its a high end item... of course the stats are nice!
If you look at some of the other high end items you will realise they are all nice and every class would benifit from all of the items. but there are always some classes that will benifit more from each piece.
This one is a chanter piece.
After chanters all int casters are equal as far as i can see (and yes that includes SK's although the AC maybe too low for some of them)

pending the type of guild that is doing this, i would only see this really going to clerics, and or wizards.. heres the reason why.

Cleric: more mana on clerics means that the MT lives longer, and this it means you have more time for your rogues and monks to do the damage to the mob

Wizard: over a long drawn out fight, at ft 15, a wizard is able to get over 3k mana over the lenght of the fight..whats 3k mana? a Minimum of another 10k damage over that fight, using DoF, which no sane wizard at the time they can do this fight will be using.

Yes chanters can use all the stats etc on this, but if you break it down to just purely FT, in a raid situation, there are 2 classes that will fully utilize it to the maximum extent. granted, yes necros and mages and chanters can use FT just as well, however most of they're spells dont have quite the damage ratio.

Although I hate these who get what posts, I have to agree 100% Rewired. Clerics first, when they got em, wizzys next, chanters third. All else shouldnt even send a tell on this item unless your guild is so pimped with FT stuff its silly 8).
RE: INT casters only
# Dec 11 2003 at 3:34 PM Rating: Decent
i think any class can make a claim to how useful it is for them over other classes. bards have the mana regen thing, hybrids the need for hp and mana regen, priests for extra healing power via mana regen, int casters for nukes / mez via mana regen.

so you want to give it to a cleric or wiz? we use just as many shaman and druids for group healing as we do clerics, and mages can do some damn nice dps with nukes too (in addition to the pet).

and dont forget the knights, yeah the ones that dont even ge to fight the emp because they are offtanking the whole time. flowing thought on a knight offtank means less heals from healers (pallys self heal sk's lifetap) letting them focus on the MA or others that are getting chewed up on AE or whatever.

even a pure melee can use the stats on it, there are not *that* many 100hp masks around at this level of the game, and more hps == better chance the warrior is still up, more chance that rogues and monks are still dpsing away.

i see this drop, i am gonna bid on it. and when i lose (int casters horde points round these parts) i will be happy for whoever got it, because the guild just got stronger no matter how you look at it. and we can move on to the next big target. and kill it.
I'll take 3 please

What class WOULDN'T want this mask? Even if you couldn't benefit from every stat on it, it's still better than about 99% of the masks any character has equipped.

finally i dont need to spend 90k+ for dragon scale mask from sleepers which is close to these stats , except it has 25 cha instead of 15 (oh no lol, ill only have 215 cha=P)This is a must get mask for all pure casters, and if it ever went to a hybrid i will cry..lol. One question, what drops it?
RE: finally
# Aug 02 2002 at 2:14 PM Rating: Default
You know... Love how people say they don't want this to go to hybrids... I think they've never played one, nor have appreciated what they can do...

Hybrids have the ability to peel aggro off of just about anyone else faster than a warrior... That being said, usually hybrids don't get the chance to med. Too busy fighting what we're pulling to med up inbetween fights and get mana back.

I'm not saying this goes to hybrids, but hybrids have a far less selection of items with FT on them, let alone good stats like this. Great stats for a face mask peroid (note the 100hp... *wink*wink*) and has FT3 on it. Definately an item any hybrid could utilize for better tanking, and better mana regen. I wouldn't cry, I'd congratulate the person that won it... regardless if it's int caster, priest, or hybrid :)
#REDACTED, Posted: May 02 2002 at 12:38 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) lol I hope whenever this item drops a hybrid or a non-caster wins it, just because this is finally an item that all you casters want so bad it'd **** you off bad enough to lose on it. You look at ALL of the posts for Runebranded Girdle, Runed Bolster Belt, Siblisan Beserker Cloak, and Cloak of Flames, and you see all the casters talking about how they would want to roll on one of those because they "might use it" or "like the stats". Just because of that I hope all of you warriors win the rolls on one of these, just to **** all those greedy casters off.

As you can guess from the remarks above if you know the zone, this drops from Blood of Ssraeshza, the heir of the trone. Encounter requires three to four months of preparation before it can be attempted for the first time.

Wonder why there isn't a required level? Yes it's got to come off of some insane mob and yes you shouldn't sneak low levels characers into Ssraeshza. So? (and yes, I agree this would go to someone in the group that hunted whatever drops this, even if it's a monk that wouldn't care about the flowing thought 3. Unless some guild owed someone an outrageous favor.)

Because this drops of the Blood of Ssraeshza, in the last level of the temple.

You can't use Call of the Hero to get your level 20 twink up here.

You need a big raid force to kill the mob. Each member of this raid force has had to spend at least 100h of camping to get a key (and your level 20 twink has had to get the key too). About 90% of the casters and even the priests of the raid are going to want it before your twink (and if you're the guild leader, and put your twink for this before your full-time member, expect membership to drop to 5 active members within the hour).

And, as someone else said, you'd better hope the Emperor which spawns on the minute after the Blood drops, doesn't death touch you before the corpse becomes open for looting.

Estimated probability of a twink looting this during the next two years: 0.0002%

Probably correct but not now (3+ years after post). The ring of shishar is easily boxable or even soloable by decent geared/AA 70 bst. So your level 20 twink could easily get in. The emperor is currently easily 2-3 groupable with a few banes and some pets (pets do normal damage). The answer is Yes i have lead this raid (18 time-anguish geared) and also have looted this on my lv 40 twink.

Minor point, but the emperor does not spawn immediately after the Blood of Ssraeshza dies. There is a delay of just under 6 minutes.
