When this is equiped, does it look the same on the wearer as it does on Seru? Cause that is just some sweet lookin armor. Sorry if this seems kinda redundant.

We did him with 19 people just now. 2 tanks beating on him and keeping him cornered and aggroed against one pillar, 2 clerics and 2 druids hiding from AE behind the next pillar and chealing, the rest of us applying ranged damage. Oh, and 2 Necro's twitching mana all the time for the clerics. It took a helluva time, but mana was still good to go at the ned of fight. We got three adds during the fight which at least gave those that were applying ranged damage something to do. For a Beastlord, that could not melee nor have his pet up, this was quit boring.

All level 65 with (semi)decent amount of AA's and most of us were all Vex Thal and Tier 3 PoP geared. No EP gear yet(some), we just reached those.

What is the minimum numbers required and classes to take Seru down?

Clerics:
Nukers:
Melee:

I've heard many stories. Some with one tank with Bane Weapons, some with none.

Add more DPS for shorter fight. Just killed him with 13 people. Two were tanks, although only one tanked. One healer, a chanter mezzing a caster add to manatap, and slowing seru, and a necro tapping mana off the paladin class mob. The rest was dps. Took about 10 minutes.

top post was deleted so i can't see it..

Farwater "better" cuz for twink since it's NOT nodrop.

Of course in terms of stats many no drops are much better (i could very well link/paste Vadd's Chestplate of Elite Combat which is godly)

It depends who it's for (which makes it the best)...

You dont need better armor?
# Nov 01 2003 at 1:54 PM Rating: Decent
You always need better gear so that you can move on. Thats how guilds get stronger!!!! Better equipment equals more mana more regen more hps more damage. Times that by 50 or 60 and your guild is at another lvl.

Gameplay versus Loot
# Sep 22 2003 at 6:19 AM Rating: Excellent
Short word here. Nothing deep, but...

Try to stay focused on why you go after Seru or any other top mob: the adventure and satisfaction of winning the day. That is what games are for: fun of this type. Quest and adventure.

As for loot, it is a nice symbol of your accomplishment to sport some item or other dropped by that mob. Think of it as a trophy of sorts. Obviously, it is not anything you actually NEEDED... if you had needed it, you would not have been able to drop that mob without it, right..? But you *did* defeat him... so obviously, your existing gear was adequate. And all of the gear in the game will not compensate for lack of player skills and a well coordinated team effort. Trophies are wonderful... but cleverness and "heart" are better. Take pride in having enough of both to have gained a victory.

The biggest thrill I get from EQ is planning such raids, and then seeing those plans actually succeed when carried out by skilled players.

#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 14 2003 at 8:28 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Oh, heh you see I was confused there for a second. I was under the impression that I chose the reason I go after Seru or any other mob, I didn't realized you had the entire universe planned out for me already.

Anyway morons like you aren't worth it. This BP is nice but I still like the ancient spells to drop off him more than his item loot. But maybe that's just because I'm a wizard and our spells are about the only acient ones not totally overshadowed by PoP spells...

First of all, why must people insult eachother on message boards? I don't know why you must call him a moron. Just because he can plan successful raids you have to make fun of him?

Secondly, the most common reason why people go after mobs is because of the loot. Sure the satisfaction is there after you kill a big mob like this but having the loot from the mob as proof that you killed it is even better. Especially if its an upgrade.

Good post, but cant totally agree with not needing, My guild kills Seru Often, I need his BP lol mine is week compared to other war's in guild, they dont need it and are good to go the guild kills him, cause others are equipped, when you get new members you kill him more to equip them, same as VT.
makes no sense
# Sep 08 2003 at 7:01 PM Rating: Excellent
Well I don't know if its been posted but seru quads for 700+ a pop and is only slowable by shaman disease slow cloud of grummus and plague of insects(40% and 25%).

It makes no sense that you say that all 65's are in VT and ST and Time, I run a little guild, I have level 65 people who are wearing stuff that sells in the bazaar for 3k.

Seru drops would be a great upgrade to everyone. Btw this is on a pvp server. Maybe on a blue server where everyone has access to everything seru might not be anything anymore, but on pvp where its almost impossible to get something going, seru drops are diamonds in the rough.
#REDACTED, Posted: May 02 2003 at 4:04 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I'm sure this BP wouldent be great for most fighter classes... But for a cleric it would rule. sure we dont fight but wis + mana with str and all the other added stuff would really make things easer and the effect would kinda help when you get healing agro and your to lazy to heal yourself.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 03 2003 at 1:42 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) If you don't heal yourself after getting hit, 4 HP / tick isn't going to save your day if you get hit again.

You can all stop hyperventilating now.

By the time you hit 65 (assuming you are a plate class), the following is true:

-You only hunt in PoP, VT, or ToV
-Mobs in these zones almost always hit you for near-full damage even when your AC is maxed
-The only thing mitigating damage is AA and disciplines
-Its been a long time since you had any chance of soloing something that will give you exp
-You are always grouped, or raiding, and will have buffs on at all times
-HP is god
-Resists are demi-gods
-Stats are almost meaningless
-Mana will not regenerate fast enough by any method other than rods or necros
-No amount of regen can overcome getting quadded for 700+ by yard trash every 4 seconds

While this item really is an awesome bp (considerng what else is out there), the only thing its good for is the added HP and resists.

In my case, even after recently upgrading my gear to armor/weapons that are almost twice as good in every category, I was not so much better than I was before. I'm talking about raising AC by over 200 points, HP by at least 300, every stat to 200+, with FT 3 and 16 hp regen per tick standing up! All this only made a marginal difference (gave me a few seconds more before needing CH).

Don't feel bad if you don't think you'll ever see this (or any other high-end item). If you work on your skills, perfect your tactics, and put AA in the right place, you can be just as effective as the elites in the game... even with average gear.

By the time you hit 65 (assuming you are a plate class), the following is true:

-You only hunt in PoP, VT, or ToV

Wrong. Old planes, Hate/Fear/Mischief are great aa exp, and much less crowded. Plus Veksar, Droga etc....

-Mobs in these zones almost always hit you for near-full damage even when your AC is maxed

NOT true. I can easily see a difference in one of our SKs damage mitigation when he uses his AC tap, which jumps his ac over 1450. I play the cleric, so I know how often he gets hit and for how much.

-The only thing mitigating damage is AA and disciplines

Certainly they help, but see above.

-Its been a long time since you had any chance of soloing something that will give you exp

Tell that to the 65 pally who was soloing in PoI last night, while I was on my alt warrior. Sure solo exp is slower, but not non-existant.

-You are always grouped, or raiding, and will have buffs on at all times

See above. Also, you don't always have a shaman in your group.

-HP is god

YEP

-Resists are demi-gods

Also true

-Stats are almost meaningless

That is SOOOO wrong.

-Mana will not regenerate fast enough by any method other than rods or necros

/boggle. Can I have some of what you're smoking? FT15, plus 3 regen from aa, plus 8 from AoTZ, or PoT9 if not a cleric, Plus 18 from VoQ, and 9 more from Beastlord Spiritual Dominion. Thats 53 mana per tick. Then whatever that SK spell is that taps mana and life to the whole group, and I have more mana than I can use (only have ft10 and 1 from aa, but still is true).

-No amount of regen can overcome getting quadded for 700+ by yard trash every 4 seconds

#ecsos, Posted: Mar 28 2004 at 4:44 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) stats are almost meaningless. you can cap them with normal gear. Or if you are gimp, a simple stat buff.

Words from somebody who obviously hasn't experienced anywhere near the 'endgame' yet. Wait until you start fighting mobs that does AE minus stats, and see if it's meaningless any longer.

-By the time you get 65 and can get this BP, you probably aren't in VT (unless you're pretty far down your guild list to get this, since Seru is way easier than keying for and killing Emp), you're probably not in Plane of Time yet, and you're upgrading what you got in ToV.
-Mobs in these zones usually hit for full damage, if an extra 200AC and 300hp can give you an extra 2 seconds between CHeals, that could be the difference between a 4 cleric chain and a 5 cleric chain over a 20 minute fight.
-AA and disciplines only give you a % increase over your base for damage mitigation (Or so I believe)
-As Abdiel mentioned, especially Bards need the effect when soloing.
-Buffs increase stats from armor... not replace them... some stats will be capped, some won't.
-HP is the thing, you're right, and +125 HP is the best you can get pre-PoP that I know of.
-I don't know why you're complaining about the resists either
-If stats are meaningless... then why bother buffing them? You seem to misunderstand a vital piece of game mechanics on this one.
-I don't see how your mana regen comment applies to this BP, but at least for Bards, rods and necros contribute nothing to mana regen.
-Last comment is true when in a MT role, but for secondary classes that occasionally get stray aggro, or eat a riposte, 4 hp/tick can be significant... only 40hp/minute, but that's on top of BoR and any innate regen.

Ardnahoy,

This BP is good all up. I dont know what your doing, but your doing it all wrong.

The principal stat on this BP is the AC, 75AC is a lot of AC. In PoP there is no softcap on AC, its keeps increasing your damage mitigation the higher it gets.

The stats on this are good, particularly if they allow you to cap a stat at 305 without buffs, as this frees another buff slot.

Saying only HP and resists are the main stats is incorrect. Resists are important, but if you have a decent guild your resists will be at 500 if needed from bard song.

From this BP Id say its AC>HP+MANA>Stats+Resists.

All in all a top end BP. The effect is a little added bonus. Not many plate classes will be capped at 250 worn attack, so the extra helps. The regen is a very minor effect, but regen does count, and you can have 35 worn regen .. which as I said can help a little.

Kosari - Lord Protector, Drinal.

One class you forgot when you said you arent soloing anymore. The legendary Bard, who can solo such a wide variety of mobs its scary, and who, since they are kiting, really really appreciate hp/mana regen for when they get hit if they get an unexpected add or what not (and survive to continue kting). I admit, I have never played a really high end bard, but at 55 kiting gloom nightmares in PoN I would like the +HP and the +hp per tick, as you do get hit occasionally on pathing errors, adds what not, and you do like to be able to regenerate that hp without having to twist in regen songs.

Holy crap do you know what it takes to get the drops for the planar quest bp's? just from water alone the drops are RARE. The combines it takes to get the Farwater BP, you have to know or be a master in 4 tradeskills alone ( and i mean CAPPED at MAX, with the aa's) just the time requred to make a farwater bp makes it so much easier to whack seru and get this GREAT BP.. i'm in a time guild, and the BP I'm wearing (sadly) is nowhere near as good as seru's bp.... the crafted BP's are a *LITTLE* bit nicer than seru bp, but it's not like you can farm the stuff up and craft 3-4 of them... also they're selling for like 500k right now.. are you going to wear it? or sell it for the cash? I know, i've been trying to get a couple last components for the farwater combines in water.. sadly we stopped raiding water after we killed Coirnav for the 3rd time and theres like 0 chance i'll get the stuff to finish it.
