New item tactic

Verant seems to be trying out a new tactic with set-drops. Each item in the set has a role to play, but isn't very good on its own. I can see the point, but don't think it'll work very well given they way players tend to think. Your average chracter will take the P.S.Mask and leave the Sash behind, getting a better belt elsewhere.

For visible items this changes a bit, because of the desire for matching sets (I understand this, as right now my warrior looks like a christmas tree with his green boots, red pants, blue arms, brown hat, and two centi WS).

Dunno. I'd keep this around for buying/selling. Other than that, I think it's something I'd bestow on a newbie in WFP, QH or BB.
Why?

Reminds me of Braided Ivy Cords. Well, ok druids wear Braided Ivy Cords, this thing I can't immagine anyone who could actualy get one wearing it. Maybe the actual intention is for someone to take this to EC and get so fustrated trying to sell it they give it away to someone that could actualy use it (like a lvl 15 non-twink). Too bad the didn't actualy include bards or someone that would actualy like the extra charisma.

P.S. thanks VI for creating the Beastlords to bridge the gap between Druids and Monks. Dose this mean all leather items are going to list Druid/Beast/Monk on them now? Seesh!

Indeed, Beastlords are more Shaman and Monk than anything else, but whereas Shamans are a chain class, Beastlords, Monks and Druids are all leather classes, so this would look to be a leather armor item. Surprising that Bards can't use it though with 10cha on it! hehe

But yeah, pretty worthless compared to some things. Right now my monk is wearing a Thick Banded Belt, ac8 wt1.0, so this would be a nice upgrade. The mana would be wasted, of course, and the 10cha only good for selling, but the same ac (fairly high for a belt) at half the weight would be great. Granted, at 40 he has a long time before hunting in the new CT, and there are alot of great waist items between now and then that are better. I expect this to be a twink item (since it is not no drop) or a part of a cha gear pack for selling things.

so...you would rather use an 8ac belt that gives cha and mana and weighs 0.5 less over a 8ac 15str belt? huge sacrifice of str, atk, and damage for just a tiny bit less weight dont you think?

He means the Thick Leather Apron, ac8 1 stone waist item. Drops off of the undead barkeep in Unrest.

Beastlords are a cross between a shaman and monk not druid.

BLs are not a cross between a monk and shaman...they are a cross between a shaman and something else that i havent figured out yet. Only similarity to a monk is that they use HtH weapons and leather. You play a BL like a monk and you are gonna get your **** handed to you in a basket. Sit back, get your wis high and let the pet do all the work, especially in the high levels....

I play a 54th level beastlord with his epic in hand. They are indeed a slimmed down version of a monk the same way they are a slimmed down version of a shaman. Beastlords compare closest to monks out of all the melee classes for the very reasons you stated. They are limited to leather armor and are the second best h2h fighters in the game. They don't even begin to compare to the other melee classes when it comes to armor and weapon choices. But you can go on trying to figure out what the "something else" is that you haven't been able to up to now.

About the only time any of those classes would use it outside of selling, would be druids POSSIBLY when playing animal charm games. (Such as wolves in WW...those things are mean and eat each other fast for good exp).

Of all the classes than CAN wear this , i cant imagine any of them actually wearing this , besides for selling. Verant really needs to think a little more.

/em thinks they are using a new random item generator

What use does a druid have with this? Sure charisma, sure mana, but ALMOST ANY DRUID WAIST is better than this! Argh slightly angers me to think they couldn't make this something useful to a class that would find it useful (Read - Enchanter)

I am sure a halfling druid could benefit most from this since halflings start out with the worst possible CHA of any race, and druids need CHA to effectively charm animals.
Ah man

I just wish it was enchanter wearable. I just love charisma items :)
