Bought this item in the Bazaar, for 5k and it I get a message something like "Your class/race/deity will not allow you to equip this item"! I'm a barbarian shaman, granted I'm only lvl 39 but it is my understanding that lower levels can equip lvl 51 recommended items, but that they get reduced benefits from em. Anybody got any ideas on this?
Apparently in EQ there is a discrepancy between Recommended Level and Required Level. Some items you can equip with diminished stats (recommended) and other items you cannot (required). I wish that they would make this distinction clear upon inspecting an item.
The reason you cant equip this item is because it is from Cazic Thule. Even though it says (Recommended) it is really required. CT is the only place i know of with items that work like this. Had this bracer dropped anywhere else in the game, recommended would have meant just that, and you would have taken a loss on stats for equipping the item pre-51, but it IS from CT, so unfortuneately you are SOL. sorry man =\
You all so far are debating whether or not the wis/int or hps are even of value to the classes who can use this bracer. Have any of you, through all of this, noticed that this bracer is ac*13*? That is pretty high for a bracer. Granted, not the highest, and there are a few other options for ac that high or better on a bracer at 55+ but...this is still pretty damned sweet! I would love to have this on one wrist and a jbb on the other.
The Ac is a very VERY apparant bonus on this bracer and makes it quite desireable. As far as wisdom, both Shamans and rangers use it for spells. HP, all three need HP, Shammy included (they love that canabalize). The unusual stat for the class mix listed is inteligence. but i have heard that int determines how often combat skills go off(such as duel weild). if thats true then that is probably why. i know there is a set of ranger planar armor that has allot of int. so there must be a use for it some where. just a thought. as a ranger if i were ina group with a rog and a Shammy. id give to the shammy first unless he had better wisdom or mana on the bracer slot. if so then i'd roll with rogue
Aye, what makes this bracer sweet for the shaman is the HP's, combined with the AC and WIS. INT helps me learn skills some, too. I put this bracer on when JBB isn't necessary (like in Velious, where everything resists it).
My ranger gets to wear it occassionally, too. This camp is pretty sweet. You stay by the zone in and pull the mobs. You get a lot of named mobs, and some decent stuff. Day I got this bracer we also got the Spider Fang Earring.
Once you break the spawn here, this place is great xp, and decent drops. There's always the chance the frenzied spider spawns for the jungle spider cap, too.
No, as a shaman you should be using WIS for your skill ups, since skill ups are determined by the highest of your INT or WIS. If as a shaman you have a higher INT than WIS you may want to rethink your gear
Because, goof, the three classes listed are CHAIN CLASSES. I'm not even going to start in on you for not recognizing the value of hps, it just isn't worth it.
I'm a goof. =( OK, I said HPs were good... but if given a choice between this bracer and a bracer with a good solid DEX/STR buff, I'd take that, cause ROGUES DON'T TANK... not at level 55 anyway.
I don't know what you mean about not needing HP. Trust me man, raids, and high level grouping, STR/DEX/AGI is the easiest thing to get due to buffs, you want the HP/AC over any of that crap in the high end game. Yeah, we don't tank, but if you happen to be standing in front of something when it Enrages, all the STR/DEX in the world aint gonna save your *** like HP/AC will. ;-) And trust me, this is coming from a 55 rogue.
