Unless RNG is in effect, drop rate of Black Ornate Chain Bridle now seems to be 10% chance (sample of 40 Lord Seru deaths).
Can this be sold?
# Sep 04 2010 at 10:36 PM Rating: Default
I'm sure this isn't a common problem, but I can't seem to sell my Seru horse. I play on the Al'Kabor server, so you can still use old models and have a mount as just a buff. I prefer that method, and I therefore want the most basic horse. Wendal Amondson tells me he has no need for the item, and hands it back. Any clue why this might be?

Great post Newbish Troll. You cleared a lot up for me. My 70 mage uses the lowest horse available just for med bonus. I use Run speed 5 for everything else. Works for me.

I just bought a 103k Black Chain Bridle for my 70 Ranger .. I before had a dromor on my 70 alt war ... Turns out that Horses are accutally FASTER then Lizards by about 3 %

I've had an emp horse for ages, and recently I bought holy steed on an alt and was pretty disapointed that it didn't feel any faster than what I was used to.

I noticed just recently by looking at the data on lucy that both the knight horses and the emp/seru horses actually summon the same horse.

if you look on lucy, every summon horse spell is broken down as:

SumHorse(colour)(speed)

For colour, it will list either Wh Bl Ta Br, and for speed it will list either "Slow1" (rope bridle) "Slow2" (leather bridle) "Run1" (silk bridle) "Run2" (chain bridle) or "Fast" (ornate chain).

Summon Holy Steed and the emp horse both say SumHorseWhFast. Summon Death Charger (which is the true name for the unholy steed ability) and the seru horse both say SumHorseBLFast. This leads me to believe that they are infact the exact same horses.

further evidence comes from a comment made by Zajeer-Dev on the PoR beta forum:

Horse speeds aren't going up at all, for a good long time. I don't want players to have horses faster than the knight mounts. I also don't want horse speeds approaching selo speed, since I'm sure bards won't appreciate that. I've added a new raid mount to the expansion for the high end folks, but it's the same speed as the Seru and Emperor mount.

Notice he says he doesn't want players to get horses faster than the knight horses. To me that implies the emp/seru ones are infact the same speed as the knight horses and that there is now way to make a faster raid mount without becoming faster than holy/unholy steed.

The new raid mount he speaks of is listed as "Summon Ghostrider" on lucy and summons the horse "SumHorseTaFast". As of the time of this post this new mount has yet to be discovered. By looking at this data I can say that the new horse will be tan, and equal speed to emp/seru/knight AA's.

Since your post it has been discovered, and here it is: Ghostrider's Bridle.

I've raced a number of paladins and SKs on my LiS horse. I've always won. We did it in North Karana for little lag and the long haul. The palie started ahead and i slowly caught up and passed. After discussion with the paladins and Sks we all agreed theirs must be 80% and the dropped ornates are 85%. That would account for the slow passing.

i understand horsies / lizards help with non sitting agro ( i use it quite often as a 58 wiz ) but plain and simple fact, we buy them because they look cool =))

When im on a raid, it only comes out to get there or get back basicly. If i want to stop casting a spell which isnt needed during a fight, you an move or duck pretty much. moving has a longer recivering time than ducking, but you cant duck while on a mount. you have to click it off, then duck.
HP Regen ... same as Sitting or Standing?

Only have one question about the Horses / Drogmors.

When on a mount do you Regen Health as if you were sitting? This could make a large differance to Trolls and Iksar ... and esp Troll and Iksar Shamen and Iksar Necros.

I already know of the great no-agro meditate, as my cleric has cheep horse. So I'm assuming the health regens like you are sitting as well. If not this could be detrimental to Necros.

Hmmm you know what? Why am I bothering to ask? I should go check myself ... my cleric has a pony. I can just see how his HP's Regen on the horse Vs. Standing withouth the horse Vs. Sitting without the horse. I'll have to answer my own question on here soon as I can get online (which since I'm out of town will be a while).
RE: HP Regen ... same as Sitting or Standing?
# Dec 02 2003 at 8:19 PM Rating: Decent
No. You regain Mana as if you were sitting, but your HP regen is as if you are standing. It sucks but at least the horse isn't completely useless (Although it is for me right now with Arch Lich :\)

Its not detrimental at all, it saves us the time it takes to lich by helping us with mana regen. Granted it doesn't help HP's, but hey, that's what life taps and LToT's are for ;)

ACTUALLY, you DO rgen HP as if sitting, as well as mana; I have tested this personally a number of times. there is one catch however......you cannot have forward or backwards movement. You may turn left and right, but forward and backward moves, negate the hp/mana regen while in motion.

This even holds true if doin melee battles while mounted. Tho I rarely do so I have meleed while mounted, and as long as not moving forward and/pr backward i regen as if sitting both mana AND HP.

I have tested and retested these circumstances, and it does take some retesting as it can be tedious to tested regen while in battle, but it CAN be done, and is easiest to verify if someone else has aggro, while you are doin melee and damged so you can track your HP regen, and compare tht to what standing HP and sitting HP regens you have while not in battle.

I challenge you to prove me wrong.

This is true, I've tested it on a drogmor. Sitting I my regen is approx. 22 per tic at level 31. Standing I forget the number, but I think it's about 11 or so...anyhow, numbers were the same on a drog when I was not moving, however I walked my way through 1 regen tic and noted that it was the same as standing. So, in effect, as long as you stand still on a drog you can regen your way through casting as well.

How does this compare with the fastest Drogmor in terms of speed?
RE: drogmor
# Jul 31 2003 at 3:14 PM Rating: Excellent
This horse is 85% faster than normal. Drogmoors are the same speed as purchased horses, so the fastest Drogmoor is 70% faster than normal.

thought this board was about horses?
# Apr 23 2003 at 2:58 PM Rating: Good
What's with all the non-bridle posts? If you are a bard, why you even on this board?
Anyhow, one thing not mentioned, yet somewhat important (at least to me), is that you also get a SAFE FALL effect on the horses. I as a WArrior bought a 30K horse at one time b/c I got tired of begging for sows all the time. I noticed that while on the horse, I could jump out of two story buildings and off cliffs and not take any damage. I tested this by doing exact same jump without horse and took anywhere from 50 to 180 points of damage, depending on the location and height I was at. THe SAFE FALL effect may get better as the type of horse goes up, but I am not sure about that. Anyhow, it makes running across a really rocky and uneven zone much easier for warrior types like myself.

Interesting, I wonder if this is related to the fact that when you are on a horse, you can be massively overweight, and it doesn't slow you down?
RE: thought this board was about horses?
# Dec 14 2003 at 5:32 AM Rating: Excellent
One thing about being MASSIVELY over wieght.. I was in the Bazaar one day, gated to PoK, and forgot yo put my plat back into the bank, took a little spill for 20k dmg on my horse, so you still have to watch it. Kinda bad donating for a 96% rez in PoK heh

Use a Levitation spell, (Lev, DMF, SOE ect). When your running overloaded on a mount, you will not experience the 20k death fall effect.

# Feb 08 2003 at 1:18 PM Rating: Excellent
at least 95% of everyone that buys a horse actually opts for the 9K Mule, over the 100K Throughbred....
Vast majority dont have or will ever see 100K number 1...
Number 2, the main reason for a Horse is being able to med while fighting and not drawing aggro giving you around a +5-7 extra mana regen

No horse is going to outrun a bard....but if your a slow **** warrior used to lumbering along at a snails pace, or guzzling SOW potions. then a fast horse is very nice, and 50-85% run increase is fantastic, and im sure could absolutely careless the bard is faster so what...He isnt a Bard, He is now a fast warrior..

and as far as speed goes to get somewhere...yeah a Bard can outrun a Dr00d....But all a Dr00d has to do is click a button and port/succor/evac across the whole zone or different zone in a few secs....thus beating the hell out of "Bard speed" by x1000%

Well, considering neither the level, nor the drum existed when he posted, this is kind of a moot argument.

He posted back in February, so a level 65 bard with whatever was a good drum at the time (thunderous drum of karana?), would have been the best you could do.

No, I am a Shaman and I have a slow horse. If I have SoW on (or Bard song) and use the horse, I go at the slow horse speed. It doesn't stack.

Turn off luclin models. Your horse will disappear, but you still get the beneficial effects of medding (like you're on horseback) and SoW will work.
