I tried this on a level 1 skeleton, it got killed instantly and I got 4684 damage on myself. Spell cast was Energy Blades, looks like a Targeted AE Ice DoT for 3 ticks.

most of the effects say they require terror crossbow bolts but it doesn't......I was messing around and I targeted myself and hurted myself for 4k of damage at lvl 80

Combine also works as a research recipe in Tome Binding Kit. I did one with my warrior.

I have been getting Writing Ink to drop in The Grounds off the Bixies and had one to drop in Sarith so looks like it drops in most zones but they may have just added it in yesterdays patch.

Dropping now as of Heart of Fear release in zones other than just RoF.
