I can confirm that this is indeed a light source when equipped. Light is comparable to GLS. Kinda ironic that something named "darkwood" would produce light.

Kinda funny one would overlook the cracked part...Use your imagination and figure out where the lightsource is coming from. A hairline crack seems to spine it's way down the marrow of a once lost skull-chip. Legends say that some shields held by old dog clans from long ago possess an atrribute of giving off a warm glow(you fill in tha blanks). Weary wanderers of the old used the pieces of thier grand master's body to aid them in their long travels. With centuries passed, the mucktails have evolved into a spineless species not knowing the real reasons why their prizes behave the way they do.

I never noticed it give off any light...maybe you're thinking of the shiny brass shield...

The CDS is also a major lightsource, equal to or maybe even stronger than a Greater Lightstone, though the light is only active while the Shield is equipped.

CDS is exactly equal to a Greater Lightstone. Try getting both, and putting one in secondary, the other in a backpack. Then interchange them, and you will not be able to tell the difference. Works especially well with a human or erudite, as someone with infra/ultravision sees less effect anyway.
