Small Glowing Fear Shard

I also just finished this x 2 by turning in small glowing to raise faction. First I did the Shard Experiences after turning in about 20 glowing. Then my faction was high enough to get the quest from Magus Burlshin out in the valley. After finishing up Shard Experiences I was given a charm - no choice at all. No augs offered. Then I gave him more small glowing fear shards - aprrox 50 in all as it shows on other walk thru on this site. Which max'd my facton so I was rewarded the Achievement Crystal Circle Builder and that is where I was offered either the port ring or one of 3 augs. I took the ring.

the pre-launch quest was just to get a jump on the expansion. the quest guy is still there and still takes them for the quest and they are used in 2 quests with him "shards experiences" and the "shards of fear"
I just went and handed him another fear shard, he still takes them even if u have gotten the achievment, and the rewards along with the charm. I wouldn't be surprised to see if u could still hand him dozens and dozens of the shards to build up your faction so u could max out the stats on the "charm of the crystal circle" I will note back later if i notice any upgrade on this, will hand hima shard or 2 then go do a mercnary task to see what my faction number is and see if it increased more then jsut the task would give me.

WFT SOE I have a bunch of shard crap taking up sapce in my bags thinking it will be useful to me as they are not saleable. Now I look them up and see that they can only be used on a pre-go-live quest to get kindly faction with the circle builders, but since that quest is no longer available, WTF do these items still drop? Here loot this item, you can never ever use it, but won't be fun to waste your time researching it. Thanks.
I don't know if this drops from creatures, but it is not spawning around the large crystal in Shard's Landing. What IS spawning is a 'Small BRIGHT Fear Shard'. This item WILL NOT update step 5 of the Shard Experiences task.
Edit: Yes this drop is what is needed to finish step 5.
