Anyone notice the weight?

The delay isn't the only thing that sucks on this weapon, but as a DE the wieght sucks also. Because I put all my starting points in stamina my base str is only 70. With my newbie armor its 81. Allthough I'm missing three pices, my gloves, one bracer, and the boots, and I even have the bones for the weapon, I'm not doing this. Just my 2cp. Btw I got the bones from the orcs obviously, pulling the one just west of the bridge.
Jagged Orcs

I hope they plan on adding some "Jagged Orcs" that can't fight worth a flip, because if you're looking for a weapon to kill the regular Orcs with, there are far better choices, even for a brand new character with no outside help.
actually

Actually, vi has had class specific armor for low level chars for a while, tho it was restricted to barbarian rogues (black wolf armor). Granted, the only piece that has any extra stats is the mask, but all you have to do is kill baby mammoth after baby mammoth. Plus, there is the Seax, Langseax, and Langseax of the Wolves warrior weapon quests. Ok, you have to be a bit higher level, and either need good faction in halas (with wolves of the north at least) or have someone help you who has good faction, to turn in the heads. This actually gives you a pretty nice warrior only weapon, in the case of the langseax--6/22 1hs, and if you get lucky, you can get the Langseax of the Wolves, 2hs, not such a good ratio 19/44 i think, but 5 str and 5 dex. The seax at 3/23 is not too bad a poker either. But, I am glad they expanded the armor quests to include other classes and races.

Kathugga Wintersheart 46 Barbarian Warrior, 1st Lt Darkstorm Dragons, Druzzil Ro.

junk, junk, junk...
The armor seems great for the interim player or someone with nothing or who doesn't want to twink but this weapon is a joke! 3cp (sharpening stone) and some dead skellies (rusty weapon) will yield you a better weapon.

start me out with NOTHING on a brand new server and I could drum up better, it's ONLY saving grace is in these two words: MAGIC ITEM

I agree, look at the hafling starting quest weapons and items. If you are playing pvp, the haflings will rock you everytime for just having better planned and designed weapons. They tried doing a nice thing for DEs and ended up creating a hope that this quest pays off syndrome.

The sword
# Mar 27 2002 at 4:21 AM Rating: Good
If u use it with the shield, it would rock for a newbie, as the orc slayer armour has pretty good armour class and all together about approx +15 strength!

and the weapons is dam 7, highest damage for newbie using it is 15 dam at a time, and in use of the full kit, thats pretty decent!

And lets face it, its better than the sullied 2h Yegek give you! I think though that sword would be good for doing the Orc slayer quests though...

Why???
# Mar 25 2002 at 11:10 PM Rating: Excellent
When VI created the beastlord class, they brought in the quests to give non-twinked newbies the ability to get magical stat armor and a weapon. The H2H weapon they get is 5/24. So why , when they create the newbie quests for the other races and classes do they make this weapon that has such a bad ratio? If they had brought the delay down to the low 30's, it would be worth doing the quest, or even if they made it 6/29.
Dont get me wrong, I like what they are doing bringing in these quests. And I think the armor's AC and stats are fine, but this particular weapon needs work. Especially the weight, since most of the characters doing this quest will be DE's, who are string beans.

a 4/20 weapon would be alot better, i think verant are being cheap on this one.
#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 25 2002 at 5:53 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) well, look at it this way...its gives XP doesnt it? :( well i guess if you are untwinked this would be a good off hander...but really quite heavy and far to slow to be primary
RE: hmm

Once upon a time, this would have been a godsend for any aspiring melee that wanted to go off wisp hunting... It would seem that Verant really wants to get people out of their early years a lot quicker anymore, and opening up undead and wisps to non-twinked folks might be a part of their *vision* (tm)... :P
