If there is one single 1hs in the entire game that is beastlord useable, they can get skill in it. My friend knew a tinkering troll... He just spent a loooooooooong time getting to 50 skill (where gnomes start) and after that he just flew on through it. His account was "mysteriously" deleted.

There was a 1hs whip, that dropped in Paludal Caverns, that has Beastlord as one of the classes on it. I just checked my bags out and it has been changed to Warrior and Bard as of the last patch. Was called a Fungus Covered Whip I believe.
#REDACTED, Posted: Apr 12 2002 at 9:20 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Anyone else here F***** tired of verant making every Godd*** thing a no drop because of twinking??????
RE: No Drops

I disagree fully. I am GLAD that Verant discourages twinking. In my experience, buying and selling items seems to encourage greed, camp stealing, and the other nasty stuff I hate to see.

As a level 52 bard, I was never twinked. I personally fought and looted everything I wear, with the exception of my helm and a few other items that were given to me in return for my kindness to them along the way.

I did all of my lambent quests when I was in my high 20s/low 30s because I wanted that armor. Yes, I had help from my guildmates and friends in the fights, but I find it a lot more FUN to fight, learn the zones, and learn the mobs. There is a great sense of pride you get from earning an item that you can't get when you buy it. I also think I have learned to play my characters a lot better as a non-twink, since I had to work that much harder.

As I've wanted new items, I've done the research to find out where it drops, learned the zones, learned the mobs, and lead the raids to get the items.

I've worked on tradeskills and helped others gather components for their skills. I have just finished collecting all of the components so my high elf smith friend can make me a suit of Blessed Full Mithril, which is my opinion is some of the best armor in the game.

I have nice equipment. (You can check out my profile here - do an equipment search by character.) I am a good bard. I give away all of my old items when I upgrade to friends, guildmates, or kind lower level characters that I meet along the way.

I play this game for fun, and I believe the fun comes from fighting, questing, tradeskilling, and learning the lands. Not from spending hours in NFP or on the market channel.

My 10cp (adjusted for inflation),

after playing this game for over 4 years i have some pretty strong beliefs as to what "I" want out of the game.although i do agree that farming items to the point of killing the fun just to make a few extra plat is getting out of hand i strongly believe i should be able to twink whatever character i create,,my argument being if i spend the time to hunt for a certain item why should i have to spend the time doing the same camp for each and every character i own, verant doesnt NEED to sucker me into wasting time doing camps over and over again just to get another month subscription fee out of me i love the game and will be a long term subscriber anyway,,if people have problems with twinking then i say petition to have everything non player created become no-drop// only allow me to trade "in bank" my no-drop items to my other characters// just an afterthought but how much money have YOU spent on this game cause i know mine doesnt come easy so if you ever see a character walking around with an item his lvl shouldnt have he still in one way or another earned the right to carry it//sorry for the flame but ive just had about enough of people telling me what i can do and cant do

I'm very tired of it myself, I love to camp this zone but I'm angered that I only get to keep half the stuff I earn.

Nope, especially if you are on a PvP Server. Trying to fight a level 14 with level 40 or so armor isn't exactly a fair contest.

This drops off War(?) Dankpelt. He seems to spawn fairly quickly for about an hour of the war. He is not level 40, more like 30ish. He was very green to me at 45. You can tell when he will drop this item as his damage output is double to quad what he normally hits for (80-100 vs 20-40). Fear kiting works very well and is required when he has this thing. He also drops the earring of the blind wolf.
not a bad weapon but.....
# Mar 22 2002 at 1:04 AM Rating: Decent
Beast Lords cant use 1Hs weapons, so the skill mod is realy dumb, unless it is hand to hand and only says 1Hs.
RE: not a bad weapon but.....
# Nov 19 2003 at 5:38 PM Rating: Decent
actually a few weapons in PoP are 1hs and are shaman/Bst usable because my shaman has one
heheh

I could be wrong but if my mathmatical skills aren't too rusty, I'm pretty certain 104% of 0 is still 0. Nicely done Verant! Keep the logical items rolling out =)

Yes it does seem a little odd for a hand to hand item to give a bonus to 1h slash...particularly so in light of the fact that last I checked, BST didnt get the 1h slash skill.

I can see how a bonus to 1H Slash could be useful on a weapon other than a 1H Slash weapon, as long as the user can dual-wield. Wield a 1H Slash weapon and the one giving the skill bonus.

Of course, this requires the dual-wielder to be able to use a 1H Slash weapon, and Beornegar's right....no 1H Slash for Beastlords.

Since I made that last post, I've discovered that there is in fact a 1H Slashing weapon that is BST-usable. It's the Serrated Needle Claw, dropped by Blood Soaked Hoppers in Shadeweaver's.

https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=7343

It's listed in the equipment database here as "Piercing" but that is incorrect; it is indeed a 1HS weapon and can be equipped and used by a BST. Still, since a BST can't train in 1HS one may always be stuck at skill level 0 with it.
RE: odd
# Mar 22 2002 at 4:28 PM Rating: Default
Actually I think they may have changed the new drops of the Serrated Needle Claw to piercing and just never bothered to update the old ones..
hmmm
# Mar 21 2002 at 4:52 PM Rating: Decent
A hand to hand weapon that gives +4% to 1 Hand slash skill . . . does that seem odd to anyone else?
RE: hmmm
# Mar 21 2002 at 5:07 PM Rating: Default
yes
actually
# Mar 22 2002 at 3:22 PM Rating: Decent
it can be used as a off hand wep and use a 1h slash as primary
RE: actually
# May 19 2002 at 4:10 PM Rating: Decent
you seem to be missing the point, a BST cant train in 1HS, and there isnt any 1HS a BST can wield

trust me plz, i have a lvl 48 BST
RE: actually
# May 31 2002 at 7:13 PM Rating: Decent
actually there are some 1h slash weps a bstlord can use but since you can't train the skill, its gonna be pretty useless.
