This is no longer NODROP.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 31 2003 at 6:58 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) But I think this weapon sucks. First off, snare is not that important in my experience. and it says 25 damage per tick, for 3 ticks. 3x25=75 so either the info is very wrong, or people are lying about the proc damage (which I doubt).
Sorry but gotta disagree

@peatmoss

old eq was a lot of utility, this post is way too late but people still play so relevant.

regardless, i have a crap ton of toons at this point and a little while back started a new one, a ogre shammy. holy hell, this is probably the most unloved class in EQ. weapon selection is ***, all other classes have way more 1hand items available that are 'battle' friendly. there are the obvious ones you can farm for a twink but compared to other classes, pfft... no love. Armor is just as bad...

Leveling a shammy is insanely slow... might be cause im ogre too but im running xp pots, et al. Accounts 15 years old too! I also feel as a class that they really don't start to shine until 60+. Until then, dot's are ***, dd is ok, melee is horrible, tanking almost not possible.

finally... one of the most annoying things. root or snare. you'll notice most casting classes have one or the other (generally) Sub 65 as far as i know shamans are rooting classes which are fine but what sucks is root forces the mob to still fight while a snare will allow the mob to flee without actually moving, just faces away from you.

i had bought one of these as they are relatively cheap and tbh for **** stats, the ratio is decent w/haste i hit alot over 200. so far, it's ok and ive got better but the proc is nice for solo in a dungeon aa grinding. runners are the end of you in those deep holes.

your forgeting a very larg key factor in this weapon that makes it more than worth geting.

the pok factor... by this i mean i will take anything that makes me look like a worrior rather than a shammy wile in pok.

as a lvl 65 orge shammy i get a adv. of 30 msges the first 5 min i zone into pok with my epic and tae ew shield out... couz they know i am a shammy even tho i am anon.

now throw a big ugly lookin hammer and no one bugs me couz i am just a dumb orge worrior...

well thats my 2 cp worth

Hey all, was looking at this weapon for my shaman and he meeles a bit with groups, this is about the perfect ratio I'm looking for, but the procs worries me heh...does it overwrite normal snares? And what about agro on it? w/ snare you get some added agro and I really dont want anymore agro for my shaman heh...and if it doesnt overwrite it does the dot stick and would you still get agro from the would be snare? Thanks

I have this Hammer
# Aug 18 2002 at 3:58 AM Rating: Good
I have one of these Hammers, and quite frankly. I think it is awesome. I consistantly hit for 145 + and my max is 163 so far. Now are you still telling me that this is a crap weapon. I use a pair of SCHW, and also haste myself that makes a 39 43 weapon effective as a 39 30ish weapon. You still telling me that this isnt a good weapon?
BTW I have my epic, and grated I do lose 14 Wisdom and 20 AC, however the kinda mobs that a Shaman is able to solo, Voice of berserker gives you more than enough protection, do be able to do the job.

I arm this weapon all the time, unless I am grouped, which isnt often now.

This DROPPED (not bought) from A Thul Tae Ew Spiritcaller, a level 60 mob in the 4C camp. He is easily identifiable because he has a shammie pet at his side.

If you use this weapon, you will lose a lot of resists (assuming you have epic and a SBS) and about 20 hps (assuming again you have your epic and SBS). With that in mind, my shammie has hit for 138 buffed with FoS with this nifty hammer. And the proc of snare which lasts 3 ticks may buy you enough time to pull your butt out of the sausage grinder. Not something to spend a lot of plat on, but surely if it drops for you, you will have fun with it.
Proc
# Jul 03 2002 at 10:42 AM Rating: Decent
The proc says that the dot is 3 ticks, which is 18 seconds by my count...also it has no mention about the duration of the "snare" effect...is this part of the 3 tick dot or not...it doesn't say...

This is probably some uber vendor that's like level 65 and is KOS to everyone. Kind of like trying to use the bank down in Runnyeye. So, you can use the vendor, but while you're doing buisness, he's beating on you. Not fact, but theory. But if he exists, VENDOR YOU'RE MINE!

This item is on vendors? What is there a ubervendor somewhere in CT, where ya shell out the plat and get the ubah loot without the effort now? ;)
Useful for Shammys
# Mar 15 2002 at 3:07 PM Rating: Default
As a shammy I'd say this is a fairly decent weapon for certain situations. If your grouping or soloing for exp I don't suggest this unless your bored and wanna goof around instead of sitting at FM. We can get way more wis and mana from a one handed weapon and secondary slot item, and of course more mana means longer living shaman who don't have to run when the going gets bad. This however, would excel at greenie slaughter. I use a Icegrinder 27 45 30 dd proc for that, but would take this in a heart beat for that use. It even would manage to replace most of my lost wis and mana equiping it, not to mention a handy proc! Still by the time your hunting in CT now, you'll more then likely have your epic which is still better then this.
short duration
# Mar 15 2002 at 8:14 AM Rating: Default
ok when I first read that this was a snare effect I got excited... then I noticed that it's duration is 3 ticks... nice item, but not worth going out of your way to get.. very limited use.
Where is this found?
# Mar 14 2002 at 7:33 PM Rating: Decent
I haven't been inside yet, but this is from vendors? Vendors inside Cazic Thule? Or does someone specificly drop this?

Caster updates...
# Mar 14 2002 at 6:44 PM Rating: Default
Hopefully when they fix the preists and caster classes, maybe they will give shammy's double strike. In which case it would be the icing on this cake. Clerics should get bash on that note as well.
I just think that any 2h weapon is a waste with out double strike. The stats are very nice though.
RE: Caster updates...
# Mar 15 2002 at 10:40 AM Rating: Default
they arent a melee class or even a hybrid. they are pure wis caster. so i doubt they ever get what yer hoping.

ALL shamen come from races that have war at every turn in their history (except vah-shir maybe, don't know much on their history) so why wouldn't we be able to pick up a small skill in some of the battle area? (i don't think we're asking for a 250 cap, but 50 would be cool just for ***** and grins :)
hell i have dodge at 75 skill cap and i haven't seen it go off in 5 lvls lol

It's no epic but it's pretty cool. Proves that Shammies are better at slows than us poor chanters. Heh.

Granite Crush is a 65% snare not slow.

The difference:

SLOW: slows down the rate in which a mob attacks... the reason why most High-Level Flurrying Mobs are able to be taken down.

SNARE: slows down the MOVEMENT rate of the mob, allowing kiting (or an easier retreat)

There's your difference... learn it well... I'd hate to see the Druid "Slowing" the Vindicator on the next Kael raid... hehe

If you read the effect of the proc it says Decrease Movement 65%

Cast on you: Your legs are slammed by a large rock.
Cast on other: A Moss Snake 's legs are slammed by a large rock

Meaning that it cripples up their legs for 3 seconds...in essence a short snare.

So it is indeed a snare-like proc and NOT a slow-like proc. :)
