Drop for our guild off a taskmaster in the basement on March 3rd 2004, easy kill 2 groups trying to get the cursed cycle to start so the rest of the guild farming Comms can run over.
Not bad
# Dec 04 2003 at 12:53 PM Rating: Decent
I would use this on my mage. Haste= more swings = more procs of my katta staff when using it(it procs desperation, a agro reducer). I am lucky when I hit something for more then 20 so dps isnt a issue, but when I cant sit I might as well swing away. I personaly think that the haste is intended for that but I could be wrong
Still Drops
# Jun 01 2003 at 5:43 AM Rating: Decent
This still drops in basement as of May 31st 2003. It droped for us near the enterance for the the mines where all the Taskmasters are.
It does exsist
# Apr 08 2003 at 5:01 AM Rating: Decent
I have it on drinal server, got if way back and i have never seen it drop again. It droped from a random mob in the basement area not a named just a plain caster snake. Most people on the server belive they have taken it out of the drop list again either that or its way rare.

True, I don't get double attack (unless I'm using Rabid Bear). I really like your logic, however. You see, I also don't get Complete Heal, therefore I don't need to cast anything on you, group with you, or talk to you! Bub-bye now! I'm gonna go solo stuff while you sit there LFG.

I have a long and lovely post on here SOMEWHERE about shaman and melee, I can't find it now, but the gist of it is this:

As a high level shaman, I often find myself in melee regardless of my intentions (doing my job gets me a lot of aggro), and so long as I'm there, I might as well add some DPS (no matter how small) to the pool. Depending on the situation, it may be better for me to sit back and use my JBB, but I can do more damage in melee if I am prepared for it (I normally have my epic out and I don't have a haste item anymore ... and I don't usually haste myself).

These are my current toys (just for flavor):

Epic (duh) - not the best ratio but great stats and an unbeatable clicky.

1hb: Aleje's Ceremonial Cudgel
Dmg 40, Dly 38. +5 Sta +10 Wis +10 vsPos +10 vsDis +25 HP +25 Mana +1.00 Wt

2hb (situational - my best DPS but ...): Poison Wind Censer
Dmg 20, Dly 28. +5 Str -30 vsPos +5.00 Wt
PROC: Gale of Poison (AoE Poison DD, 3 waves of 122 damage each, hits up to 4 targets at once)
GREAT for fighting masses of greenies, and not bad for exp groups as I can swing a few times, proc, then step back and canni while my DPS continues ... hehe

2hb (retired - perhaps my best straight up weapon though) : Rod of Virtue
Dmg 30, Dly 35. +10 Str +10 Sta +15 Wis +15 vsMg +15 vsFire +15 vsCold +15 vsPos +15 vsDis +50 HP +100 Mana +8.20 Wt

Edit: added sig and stars(whoops)

Go Paghk! Tks for dishing out some good solid info about how awesome Shammy's are =0) For someone to say that b/c they dont get double attack they suck meleeing is just insane. Do BL's get Double Attack? Why no they dont, do BL's suck by any means? HECK NO THEY DONT!!! BL's and Shammys can do some very serious damage output!

As for me as a chanter my 1hb skill is max'd out at 110 and my Piercing isnt far from that atm. Yeah so our meleeing skills are weak and nearly worthless and I'd of wished things would be different now that I've been 65 for some time but our cap remains on 1hb, 2hb & Pierce @ 110 each.

But Shammys and BL's do some very nice damage output. This would be a great belt for most any caster to have spare a necro at higher lvl's b/c they would want more HP & STA on most any item anyway. But for the classes listed Shammy and Clerics would get the most usage out of the belt all in all, but there are far greater items in VT & the Planes of course.

A great belt all the same :)

RE: Nimrods

For reference, I have 187 1HB & 183 Piercing skill as a Shaman (both of which have 200 caps). My offence maxed at 200 long ago. With a str of 255 (capped) I have an atk of 962. I hit for up to 53 with a 10/20 weapon & can self-haste 40%.

So Shaman are quite capable in melee & a 36% haste item is very useful.

Incidentally, I can slow a mob by 75% and have 971 ac, 191 agi, 180 sta & 1864hps. I also regen 18hps / tick whilst in melee. So even if combats last a while, Shaman are well capable of lasting the distance.

Did I metion that my pet hits for 51, does have double attack and I can haste him 60%.

And as it's possible (easy) to cast during combat, why waste several hundred melee damage? Every shaman should maximise all his or her melee potential.
yup

Dropped for my guild when we were practice raiding in Ssra yesterday. I won the roll for it :) Maybe your friend was hunting in the wrong part of the zone or was just unlucky.

Which Mob?
# May 02 2002 at 1:41 PM Rating: Decent
I have to get this belt. I play a shaman too, and like the last shaman that posted said, this belt would rule for a shaman.

Which mob in Ssra drops this? Thanks.

Shaman melee
# Apr 04 2002 at 10:14 PM Rating: Decent
One thing to recall about shaman before you scoff at our melee. A shaman has access to most of the best melee buffs in the game, as well as a 50% haste spell (celerity + silver chitin gaunts = 72% self haste). To be honest, if I want to solo almost manaless I can pull a dark blue with slow and beat the poo out of a mob while my pet chews on its ***** I have had my atk over 1200 without rabid bear (using primal avatar), strength and dex easily hit 255 each with just foc and VoB.

A shaman can stand toe-to-toe with most of the soloing type blue mobs and flat melee it to death. Which I will add is more than quite a few warriors and other meleers can do. We can also finish that fight close to full mana and hp thanks to torpor. I have been looking for a good haste item that the meleers didnt have first shot at for a while. This looks like it may be a good target.
Mob?

I know this says "arcanist sash", but I'd like someone to confirm which mob drops this, please.
Haste
# Mar 14 2002 at 7:44 AM Rating: Default
Nice haste indeed.. 36% to be exact :) Not to mention the other stats :)
heh
# Mar 14 2002 at 2:23 AM Rating: Decent
nice with Feshlak staff
screw the haste!
# Mar 14 2002 at 1:21 AM Rating: Decent
As a caster, I would want this just for the stats, who needs the Haste (although its nice, especially if soloing)...10ac AND 8wis AND a 10sv vs Fire which is always nice...tis easy to max cold resist and even magic, but Fire is a very useful one and harder to get. Add to that that the weight is only 0.1 and you get some mana, hps and sv vs magic and this is one sweet item for all casters! Ahhhh...a shame it is one that is also likely to be quite rare to all who are not in the very high end game...but...something to strive for ;)
RE: screw the haste!
# Mar 17 2002 at 12:16 AM Rating: Decent
'Cap' resists? There are rumors of a soft cap but I have had resists near 400. There is no technical cap any more.
Whoa

When my friend made a joke about this being a haste item for casters after hearing the name of this thing I never thought he'd be right. Freaky.

I would love this. I am a melee shaman and this would work great with my Barbarian Spiritus Hammer and it's 263DD Proc....
#KalRox, Posted: Mar 14 2002 at 10:14 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) hehe melee shaman, what level are you, might i ask?
RE: mmmmm
# Mar 14 2002 at 5:52 PM Rating: Decent
Damn skippy this is a great item for a shaman. Whether you are solo or in a group. At level 51 and I'm playing at odd times, I solo. And when in a group, after I have slowed the mob, a little extra damage helps.
RE: mmmmm
# Mar 14 2002 at 4:40 PM Rating: Decent
as a soloing shaman with a 40 35 2hb..and wiht the 36haste plus celerity or AA skill Rabid bear which gives 105 haste..i deal out damaged just as much as any tank....
#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 14 2002 at 2:47 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Obviously not too high I'd say ;). Still something like this would come in handy for greenie slaughter like at the Elementals in TS. Pair this with an Icegrinder and a pet and greenies would fall like crazy. Though I doubt even max haste would help or melee friend here much, since shamans of course only have the stats and lack the skills and damage bonus to tank properly at high levels ;).
RE: mmmmm
# Mar 14 2002 at 7:27 PM Rating: Default
True, shamans don't have the melee classes damage bonuses ...

But, a properly armed, armored and self-buffed 50+ shaman (non-lizard or Vah Shir) could give a even-leveled melee class a good run for the money ... without casting or pet!

Who do you think does most of the tanking when a shaman solos?

But, don't take my word for it ... test and research for yourself :)

Khemosaabe "Tonto SPAM" Longbow (of Cazic Thule server)
Lvl 55 Ranger and Slayer-of-Bunny-Wabbits
"Roll Out!"
#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 13 2002 at 6:58 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I like to state the obvious, don't know why exactly. Necros will prolly like it, but chanters that use stun and their incadecent wand will like it more. I'm not quite sure about shammys, I seen a lot of posts about them being melee but I never actually seen one do anything more then a priest. Ignoring haste this is a nice addition for all the applicable classes
