wtf are you people complaining about this is a nice robe ft5 isnt bad, add that up with other ft augs and items and new aa's you can get even more ft, so i beleive it would be a great robe to have, playing as a necro the ft5 would help, i generally dont worry about that extra 80 hp or so, if your worried about gettin aggro cast a low lvl fd every once in a while, it works for me,and also on a raid yes the ft5 helps, when your buffed and have regen lich doesnt take any hp away, so come on people this is a great robe for those people not in uber guilds. stop complaining, if you dont want it dont spend dkp or roll let someone who does like it have it.

Won this two nites ago. Very nice upgrade over my Thurg robe, lost 80 hp (I have ND 3) and gained FT 5, 6 int, 20 mana and 4 to all resists. Definitely worth the loss of 80 hp to an enchanter.

*edit: Our 7th BB kill and the second robe drop. We've also had 2 cleric BPs drop as well as 3 shards.

For those who think that this robe is no good for enchanters due to the lack of HP/Stam, perhaps you need to consider the new PoP spells? The L61 Boggle spell is similar to the wizard Concussion spell/ ranger Jolt spell (eg drops you on hate list). Add to that Arcane Rune and Rune of Zebthing (over 2k worth of HP) and if you get aggro cast Boggle while runes take the hit. I don't need loads of HP.

I'm only gloating btw as I got this on a guild raid in the Deep =p

I'd love to get this for my enchanter, the extra 50 ac would make me a little but more survivable, since unlike wizards, necros, and mages, enchanters do in some respect stand on the frontline, and are attacked frequently, certainly more than I care for, but it is our duty to keep adds on hold until the group is ready. And in a raid scenario, the FT5 would certainly help in keeping up with calls for haste (assuming you're epic-less, I myself am only near half done, but it's the easy half) which can be very draining on a enchanter, even with Kei.

HAHAHAHA, unlike wizards, necros, and magicians? LOL, Tash isn't nearly as much aggro as a wizard's nukes, necro's manataps and feeds, and a magician's nukes. Enchanters would benefit from this no more than any of the aforementioned classes would.

**** ... not to say that other caster classes don't get beat on, but obviously you've never played a chanter ... tash and slow will get a chanter hit every time because we have to do it at the beginning of the fight. wizzards and mages don't have to, and personally if you get hit on, learn how to control aggro, i play a friends wizzy now and then but honestly its not that hard for you to not get beat on ... sure if you wanna die cast sos before the tank gets aggro, fine by us chanters makes it easier to slow if your the one they're killing ;p

On the other hand a chanter might very well be called for to Tash very early on in a long fight to even have a good go at the mob. You won't see the call for a wizard or mage to step up and pull with a nuke on a raid mob. That's just stupid and suicidal. We step in when agro is under control and make sure we don't get any either, while a Tash pull is sometimes neccesary. Same would also be true for group situations where you lack a shammy that can take a few blows for slowing, although I doubt this will be awarded on the basis of group needs.

Of course I wouldn't mind it on my wizard, but not for the AC. When I get hit it's already too late anyway =P

What a bunch of losers, anyone caster who says they dont this robe is a complete liar and fool...unless they in an Uber guild that hunts in VT or Emporer. LOL yes this robe does indeed suck imo for chanters and necroes.. why? THERE IS NO F'ING HP! not even stamina, therefore it sucks, and yes i would rather use chanter thurg robe over this.

nice for a mage or wizzy though since they really shouldn't be getting hit too much and they need the mana more anyways.

Ok, no HP on this robe. However, 20 int, FT5 plus these saves, means you could easily swap out another slot to something that is more ac/hp oriented, with fewer caster stats. Well, perhaps even two slots.

I'd be mre concerned with HP for mod rodding, then for being hit, but the FT5 should give back enough mana to reduce the need to hit the rod of mystical transvergence.

Of course, since both this and the debated thurg robe are no drop, you can always bank the other for those times when the HP means more than FT5 (if that ever happens).
#REDACTED, Posted: Apr 29 2003 at 6:53 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) You've got to be joking. Do you actually play EQ? How can you say HP doesn't matter to a wizard or mage? And if you think you need it to take hits, well, stay at that level of the game where they need your leet strat.

to the massive pile of change...

Necro's using this thing? Well, I guess so, with the new stacking dealie they get, but a necro can keep a -decent- stream going with lich/tap's.

Enchanters? pssh, where's my haste. There are so many un-mezzable (hell, even un-rapturable I've heard) mobs out there it's stupid.

Wizards? K mana = real good for them BUT...

Magicians mana = do or die for a raid (items like this should only be considered in raid circumstance). If you are with me good, if not, research Cleric mana pools/C-heal cost/C-heal cycles. Nothing produces more mana than a mod2. Although with the AA skills 5 clerics, 2 mages and 2 shaman(s?) can keep a tight cycle going for a long time...

Even if cleric was an option here, mage would be priority.
#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 06 2002 at 12:18 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Why do dumb people always thing that loot is 'best' for this class or that class. This, like any loot, is best in the hands of someone who will use it and appreciate it. End of story.
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 30 2002 at 11:11 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Not any more.... mages are at the bottom of the pecking order now. this things says enchanter first, wizard/necro second.
RE: adding my 2 cents
# Nov 30 2002 at 6:01 PM Rating: Decent
Wizard first... mod rod 2 was removed, enchanter mana is generally not do or die for a raid, necros rarely go oom, mages don't have a de-aggro spell so they can't nuke like mad like a wizzie, wizards are the choice for this robe because they have the most mana efficient nukes of the bunch, and spells allowing them to lose aggro. I know chanters want AC, but chanter AC will not make or break a raid... if their rune is broken, and they have aggro they are dead anyways, also there are no hitpoints on this item which chanters desire...in a prime hitpoint slot. This item will do most good in the hands of a wizard for a raiding guild.

your 2 cents....are wrong.....first off, this should go to whoever needs it most as an upgrade of whatover has the dkp for it. but thats just semantics.
my argument is...surprise.....with mages not being able to nuke on raids.....erm if theres only one mage on a raid, he is pumping out rods/ds's/AND nuking like mad. if i give our main tanks (usually using a BOC in one hand at least) 3 seconds to build up aggro, i can nuke all i want. so mages need this just as much as any other class.

Wisdom only affects tradeskills if you are a wis caster. The skill will make a check of which ever is higher wis or int for skill increase. Success is checked by skill. Wis doesn't nothing for success rate only skill increase.

So basically VI wasted 20 stat points on this robe. Still 50ac is very useful.

That thing with the failure rates has been known to be false for over a year now. Skill level is the only thing that affects failure rate. INT/WIS affect skill-up rate, but only the higher of the two.

Wow that is truly awesome! 20 Wis on an int caster item only. roflmao I just had to say that!

Now on the meat of it. This is a awesome robe. Yeah there may be better out there. However, if you are not in the top guilds on any server you will never see anything better. Heck, if you are not in the top 5 guilds on your server you will most likely never see this one either.

I would willingly take off my Ghostly Robes for this, (as long as it has a nice graphic of course)

Super Gratz to anyone who gets this. BTW on a big high end raid I would rather see this on a necro. Why? Simple, FT5 = more mana for necro = more mana to pump. But, damn how I would love this as an enchanter.

Yeah wow, FT5 for a necro to twitch. Hmm, that gives an extra 150 mana to the lucky twitchee every 8 mins (twitch costs 400). And I can assure you that twitching on a 'big high end raid' is such a huge waste of DPS, mana etc. that if it is required the raid is likely doomed to failure.
RE: OMG
# Dec 15 2003 at 11:22 PM Rating: Decent
No longer true since the Mage mana-rod nerf. If I am yelling "LOM" in cleric channel because I am the only one keeping the MA up, I better be getting those mana-inefficent twitches :). Of course, in the short-haul, you might be better served with a high-HP robe. Dunno - don't play a NEC at this level.
RE: OMG
# Jul 27 2002 at 1:35 AM Rating: Decent
firstly FT5 is more mana for ANY class and with the discovery of mod2 necros rarely pump mana to casters during raids and during groups have much more usefull roles unless cleric is almost oom and you have adds.

For mages, enchanters and necros, robes with HP are the way. All the AC/INT/Flowing thought in the world wont help you as much as extra HP when a Flurry mob summons you. Ask yourself this question, if you went on a raid, which buff would you rather have if you could only have one: Aegolism or KEI?

This is a nice robe, but as an enchanter, extra HP are all I really need to help me survive. Calamity Robe and Azure Sky robe are far better to ENC/NEC/MAG based on HP and overall benefit.

Besides the no longer available Vulak robe, the Calamity is the robe I am shooting for. Compare the important stats and CE is the way to go.

No, but since all int casters seem to like to solo a bit for level grinding, or AA points, 50 ac would be nice if you had to step in and take a few shots to finish off a mob before the pet dies, or get caught up to or stunned while kiting, for wizzy.

Yeah, I farm elysian stuff for friends and guildies all the time. The skellies in UP are easily soloable because they are the only mobs in the zone that dont summon. Takes me about 15 minutes to kill on on my own, less than half that if I am actually partnered someone.

The mob this thing drops from is the final boss of a very long and grueling "ring of fire" type encouunter. For the magnitude of the battle you ahve to go through to get it I think that this is quite a fair reward.
RE: I never gonna figure out Verants plot
# Jul 07 2002 at 1:45 PM Rating: Decent
From what I could tell Elysian armors were obtainable either by 1 group or a good solo druid if they put the time in.

This robe drops off a difficult mob at the end of a lot of difficult mobs.

The 2 are unrelated.

Maybe it's just me, but I'm a little annoyed that a caster gets a Chest piece that has as much AC as the best Ranger BP. Then add to it the FT V...

RE: Annoyed
# Mar 14 2002 at 5:26 PM Rating: Good
AC does not mean anything for an Int caster. We have a few Vulak robes and this one. Both have great AC. Neither will save you when a high-end mob summons you in close and doesn't back off.

Since total mana and mana regen are the most important things to a caster, the FT V is the deciding factor between the two robes. At the stage you are able to loot one of these robes, the added int won't make much of a difference as you should be far exceeding the 255 cap (as a 60 mage with mixed ntov and SS armor, I have 310 int).

The resists are the nice piece of the Vulak robe, but resists can be buffed to ridiculous numbers at these levels as well.

The only thing that this robe lacks is HP!

Anyway, all my opinions, of course.

Ok you're a noob :P. JK. At level 61 - 65 you gain 5 int/wis per level to 280 at 65. Then you can put aa points into Int to max it at 355. Doing this adds over 600 to your mana pool, so about 2-3 spells difference from 255.

You have to take into consideration the relative AC of this item compared to Rangers. Rangers get an AC bonus, casters don't. This 50 AC BP for casters would be equivalent to a 30-35 AC BP for Rangers (after AC bonus).

For the people too lazy to click on the link here are the stats of the other one....

Totally agree Sal'Varae's Robe of Darkness is the best, it will definately keep me alive longer anyway 20 sta 100 hp more ac and more resists. Faster mana regain is not going to help me if I am nuking. Just imagine the aggro if I used that extra mana.

I think Sal's Robe of Darkness is WAY better, with the intelligence you get a lot more mana, but considering that Vulak'Aaer doesn't spawn anymore, puts somethings into the picture. Which is better for the drop rate? Which is overall better? Just my opinions, take no regard if you don't want to.
RE: The Best?!

High mana regen beats high mana pool most of the time. The mana difference between these robes is 20 + 5*6 = 50mana. I'd take 4 extra mana per tick most days over that.
RE: The Best?!

/wave Niffe

I'd say it depends on who you are really...

For a wizard or mage, this robe owns... mana regen is it all the way. A good wizard shouldn't get hit (quad 1154s are an ugly thing at 900AC, 3khp), and this robe means more nukes in a long battle (like the worm that drops it) or faster mod-rod summoning (sorry mages).

For a chanter, AC/HP are a godsend, chanters shouldn't ever have a mana issue, and don't need FT much, so the Vulak robe (currently not dropping) is better. Necros probably likewise will appreciate the Vulak robe as well, since HP = Mana for them, and mana regen is one thing Necros usually don't have to pine for.

Just my longwinded 2c
