cinder bolt is a HUGE range on it, 300ft its a bolt spell so it takes time to hit your target, so you can acturlly move further away from target before it hits, you acturlly move out of agro range before it hits :) super good for pulling
This item's Cinder Bolt effect can be used in place of Brusco's Burning Call (Bard's long range pull song) so it will save a spell slot. It is still very utilitarian for an extremely rare item.
I just re-bought a pair of these for 650.00 bones and I am SO GLAD i got them back. Worth every penny. The casting advantages these have are unbelievable. Not only are these rare as heck, they just add another dimension to a bard's power.
these dont drop anymore. i got my bard a pair almost immediately after CT was revamped. A few weeks / months after initial revamp these were taken out of game. Uber to PL with, until your dots out do clicky dd. Can just run around and click nuke on mobs all day, could even use axis sploit with them and AE hit mobs
When was the last time these dropped? Not a rumor, but from someone who knows difinitively that they dropped on a specific date, meaning you were there and either a) looted them yourself, or b) saw it looted in your group/raid loot list.
Bought them today , prob one of the only pairs on MM , They are right clickable from invantory , and almost always land at 333 , 7 second cast , no recast at all , i hear they dont drop anymore , that is all.
1.) Do these still drop? I have heard that they don't.
2.) Can all classes use the effect from inventory? Yes I know only bards can equip, but I'm looking at the item on Lucy and it says it's clickable from inventory. There are rare items in the game that anyone can use from inventory even if they cannot equip, such as Amulet of Necropotence.
With 300 range on the spell it would be a sick pulling item.
I was wondering, Could the effect on these boots be cast while running? I mean like Bard songs, Cuz since they are for bards I kinda thought it might be
I really don't see the effect on these getting used a lot by a bard who likes chant kite, like myself. I can do more eventual damage (for the duration of the DoT) with 2 DoTs in the same amount of time it would take me to cast this. Now they may have a use in other bard soloing tactics, but I can't really comment on those. The stats are very nice , though, so if it does have an effect you may never use...who cares? I have a BP with the right click effect Song of Travel. It in no way replaces our song, but with 54 ac and a buttload of stats, I'm not complaining. However, I wouldn't mind knowing SOE's motivation for putting an effect like this on a pair of boots usable by only a bard. Hey guys, how about a right click effect like Breath of Harmony (https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=322). You can put a useful bard song on it like Battlecry of the Vashir, or maybe(gasp!) level 32 mana song (forget the exact name...been awhile, sorry). Or how about Selo's Accelerating Chorus?? OK, now THAT would be cool.
==DPS== 65 Bard - IM 3 - Using a Thunderous Drum of Karana Twisting 4 dots at 142 damage/tick
DoT Kiting: (142 * 4 ) / 6 = 94.6 dps Boots DPS: 47.something (as stated above in another post)
But we also get a 33% slow with DoT. Using epic, i think its doing something like 60+ damage/tick.
Forgetting the math and using a log parser, i've kited for up to 110dps, averaging around 101dps (due to missed notes and general lazyness).
==All the DPS talk aside==
These boots surely have their uses, but they also have downsides:
Pull upsides: 1. They dont do enough damage to cause most any summoning mob to 'start' summoning you, where as the dots could. 2. 300 range, nice. 3. Its not a DoT, so you can drop aggro with fading memories instantly if you have to. (pulling with dots = nono) 4. This frees up at least 1 song slot so you dont have to load the bards DD or OoS/HoS.
Pull downsides: 1. *not* using OoS or HoS for pulling moderate to high MR mobs hurts. This means it will be much harder to slow/mez/snare the mob you are pulling by the time you get it back to camp. 2. *could* possibly cause summoning mobs to start summoning before you get back to camp.
3. 7 sec cast time? ouch. Take pulling LDoN for instance:
[Using Boots] Since our lull lasts only 18 seconds, you could only lull up to 3 mobs (4 if you are *very* lucky, but dont count on it) and pull a 4th.
[Using OoS/HoS] You can lull up to 5 mobs and pull a 6th.
(I've died at *least* once for this information *grin*)
I'm sure there are many more reasons then stated above, but that should cover the main points =).
Conclusion: These boots are not a bardic nacessity, but mearly a costly/minor luxary. (98k? bah I say)
=Things that may be a bit more useful and surely less costly=
-Eye of Zomm on helm: (Approx 3500k) - 30 second eye to do your bidding. This brave soul goes into the middle of sure death with no aggro, allowing you the ability to 'explore' with no fear and target/lull from a remote location) - https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=1513 -
-Illusion Wearwolf on Lute: (Approx 30k, but easy to obtain with a 50's group in 1-8 hours, with a possibility of 2(+?) dropping) Stringed Instruments: +120% ATK: 45-66 Haste: 40% (doesnt stack w/ chanty/shammy haste, but is great for proc'n your epic's 50% group haste a *lot* quicker) STR: 23-30 You can also wield a weapon/item in your 'offhand' while using this lute. - https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=5941 -
Zoultan Izevhil - DJ of 65 Party's on Brell Serilis
The Composer's Greaves from the bard Plane of Tranquility quest has the Selo's Accerating Chorus. I know I will never see them, but I can't help but dream =)
Omg.. looks like they WERE tradeable. No Drop and no more right click now it's a frickin combat effect.. that's so sad I could cry =( Nerf bat hits one outta the park
Quick question...on the picture it says "Combat" But in the description it says Triggered.. What exactly is it? If triggered how long is casting time and recover time?
I'll take that to go. OMFG I love these boots. Makes nice toasted drolvarg when yard trash aggroes you in DL :) Yes it can land twice I have done 650+ with a single cast of this.
Sayonara to one of my chants :) 47.6dps is pretty sweet for a right-clicky item.
These boots r pathetically amazing, basically a bard can solo any mob that doesn't summon or cast spells easily.. and if you know what your doing you can kill spell casters too. These boots went for a CoM + Horn of Hsagra + something else on our server.. and as far as i know there is only 1 pair .... and they are tradeable.
aye, i know what your saying. But the range on cinderbolt is very long, you can get double bolt, also you can't use bard DoTs and Mez with casters, i.e. mez, nuke, mez nuke. It rarely resists, unlike the bard DoTs, it 90% of the time does full damage. You can't solo reds with DoT songs, or if you can it will take infinity. These are bright reddy purple color. I think these are the best droppable item in the game for bards, if i had a choice of these and a Sceptre of Destruction (assuming i couldn't sell them)i'd take the boots every time, assuming i had a bard. Taunt on sceptre is to big to even think about, and at high level its hard to keep fear/snare up when soloing without them resisting i am told, + is the sceptre gunna proc every 7seconds? and if it did it still wouldn't be doing as much damage.
