the ring is crap
# Sep 23 2002 at 6:24 AM Rating: Decent
Ok, this ring is trash, and I'm gonna tell you why. First off, str is a useless stat, because everyone who is 60 already has 255 str, and they are too damn buff anyways, and women dont like a man with too many muscles, he looks freakish, ok? Sta is a useless stat, cause a few hitpoints will not save your life. When you get double attacked for 1100 damage, 15 hps up or down makes no difference. Agility is a useless stat, clerics are in every group, and they heal you. If you dance around and avoid damage all day, the cleric feels underappreciated and leaves, and then you all die because noone is there to rez you after the stupid pally goes and picks a fight with the statue. Dex is a useless stat, no matter how much you can wiggle your fingers, you are not going to successfully hogtie a specter, because you were never in the boyscouts and you cant tie knots, and even if you could, the specter is intangible. Wis and Int are useless stats, smart and wise people dont fight, they talk it out and compromize, and just try and reach a compromize with that arrogant high muckity muck in KC, he is inflexible. Cha is a useless stat, everyone knows all the women in the game are hot, no amount of charisma will make them not hot, or hotter, even the wood elves and the dark elves are hot. Same goes for the men, but you didn't hear it from me, OK? The ring is crap. throw it away immediately, and go get a nice frost giant steak and an ale, and go to kelethin, and lust after a wood elf. or a dark elf. whatever.

Any HP a caster can get is very welcome so the sta + the hp DOES help...do you even KNOW what dex is for??? Wars need it for crits, and all chars that have procs need it...hrrrmm...as for the rest of your post, either you are really that dumb, wihch I hope you are not, or you are just messin, which I hope you are, cos this may not be the best ring in game, but it sure beats a lot of other ones...

lol, he was joking, wounder which server he comes from. I'd love to group with him to. Btw, this ring isn't crap. Even now its still pretty decent by todays standards. Its more of a caster ring though. RC seems to drop lots of nice caster stuff. Might be decent for a hybrid to.

Maybe it's just me, but I'd say...er...100% of the postings here saying it's ONLY GOOD FOR <class> were saying it tongue in cheek. Take the human pally one. Literally, I laughed out loud. Personally, I want one of these for all my characters and all my friends' characters. Oh, I bet there's others in my guild who should have one too. :)

Yeah well this ring is obviously a magician ring...A Dark Elf Magician ring...A level 59 Dark Elf Magician ring. So if it drops give it to a level 59 Dark Elf Magician.

unless its different on your server, you wont be "moving to this zone" as it seems to be primarily a raid-style zone =/ theres like a million named mobs in here, most can be done easily with 1-2grps though =p

Good luck either way!

hehe, one good player can solo in this zone. ;) Also, most of this zones mobs are easily done with a group of 2-3. Just have a shaman on hand to slow and then you can prety much pick your shammies partner. SK, Warrior, Monk, whatever. We do groups of 3 for damage efficiency.

At the level that's required to get this ring, most int casters will have something better. What do I mean by better? Let me explain: as an int caster the first thing I care about is intelligence. So, intelligence is my first priority UP TO 255. Now, if you've made the wise decision NOT to play a human (damn me) int caster you're probably pretty damn close to if not AT 255 int. What then becomes important after your intelligence (or while you are in the process of) is maxed is mana/hp's. Casters ac/defensive skill will never be enough to merit any investment in ac, so if you're looking for some form of defense go hp. At any rate, the gist of what I'm trying to say is that this ring is essentially just a +20hp/mana ring to most int casters post 55 out there. Let me be the first to tell you that +20hp/mana is just not that great on a ring. As an int caster I wouldn't express any interest in this item. Just my point of view.
-Apollyon, Sorcerer
p.s. for tanks with maxed sta there's the +65 hp 6 ac rings.
#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 05 2002 at 9:44 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) You really are dumb, you picked the three dumb classes that suck. You bring me a shaman in range of me and I will tear him to shreds, everybody knows that warriors are the true tanks of Norrath. Other tanks include shamans, shadowknights, paladins, rangers, and sometimes druids and necros. Wait until you get to the planes raids, you'll think that this ring sucks. Yes I have been on 2 planes raids, they are very scary. I went with my guild and took my level 46 shaman.
#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 05 2002 at 5:45 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Apparently no one has a clue what they're talking about so I will decide what class the ring is best for:

Classes other than Enchanters and Bards (and possibly Druids and Shamen for the exceedingly rare animal charm) only need Charisma for buying and selling, and helping to mitigate bad faction hits.

Clerics, Paladins, Rangers, Druids, and Shamen only need Int for learning new languages, since learning just about any other kind of non-combat skill will be based on Wis because that will (presumably) be higher than Int, with the possible exception of an Erudite Paladin.

Let me go out on a limb and venture this, despite your admonition to the contrary: Wis is, for just about all intents and purposes, useless to an Int caster. Int gives the caster mana, and since it's higher than Wis, it's used to determine skill learning rate instead of Wis. Considering that Int/Wis only serve to give casters mana and determine certain skill learning rates, that really doesn't leave a lot left that Wis can do for an Int caster, does it?

Shamen only need Str to carry loot, much like any other caster. At the level needed to attain this ring, Shaman melee against blue con or higher mobs is not really a consideration. Unless the Shaman in question is trying to improve certain trade skills or weapon skills or is meleeing *coughs* with a proc'ing weapon, he has no use for Dex. Actually, none of the casters you listed really "need" Dex unless they are performing one of these activities. Under any other circumstances, it simply will not be a factor in any game calculations, and so it really doesn't matter if they have 255 or 1.

Last but not least, you listed Agility twice for Shamen. :P

On a parting note, if you wish to try to "hunt me down," you're more than welcome to make the attempt. Please notify your next of kin beforehand, however. *smiles malevolently*

How can you sit there and say that a paladin would need this ring more than a shadow knight? they are the same shadow knights use charisma too for those spells we cast called fear. you say i lack experience for disagreeing but i disagree very much with you because you clearly don't know what your talking about. honestly this is an awesome ring for ANYONE who gets it i don't see why everyone is arguing over it.

1....Pallys and SK are NOT the same....I know 5,000+ people who would maim you just for saying it (you better get an unlisted phone number)
2....FEAR IS NOT BASED ON CHARISMA.......'an orc centurion says, "oh my, what a charming person you are...I think I'll run in fear"' NOT GONNA HAPPEN.....
3.....FEAR IS NOT BASED ON CHARISMA
4.....SKs are not Charismatic and do NOT use CHARISMA......if you've been investing into cha for your SK you better be spending a lot of time with merchants cause that's it's only value to you
5....I said this ring was good for anyone...

Fear is based on negative charisman. A good necro/sk has their cha at 0. not 200.
But anyway,
This ring is excellent for pretty much any class. It's +6 to all stats so it will tag a nice amount to whatever their favourite stat is and balance out everything else. 20hp/mana is nice too. It's a sweet ring. Unless you are taking down tov named regularly, most likely It's going to be an upgrade for you.

Biz.

LOL!!!! People, learn your words before you make any sort of "valid" topic discussion!! The word Charisma is defining the ability one has to incite any given emotion or result! Not just the goody goody results!! If someone had no charisma at all then they would say Boo and no one would even notice they said a thing, because they would not have enough Charisma to get anyone to turn their head at them, much less be concerned at all whether they were scary or not.
It would take a very Charismatic person to make someone afraid of them, whether that be spoken intimidation or physical intimidation. Take Hannibal Lector, he used Charisma to incite fear into people in Silence of the Lambs, certainly not the absence of Charisma. When someone is telling a scary ghost story, if they had no Charisma it would sound like this "ummm... one day there was... a like really scary dude.... with a hook... yeah a hook.. that killed people... boo." ooooo scary!
Shakes head in shame at the audasity of some people when they decide to open their mouths, tsk tsk tsk!
I have no idea what Verant actually does do with Charisma and Fear but I would say it makes all logical sense that it would effect Fear, like it DOES effect taunt and Instill Doubt. Go ahead and flame that, I would never accept anything saying that Charisma did not effect either of those!
In conclusion think before you decide to speak your "mind"!

Ps. Oh please do threaten me with any personal comments such as "unlisting my phone number" I do sooo love the opportunity to be vindictive! Before you become overly eager to threaten me, look up my Army MOS of 12B, then decide if its smart to threaten me.

How does being a combat engineer make you any more or less immune to threats?
You can blow stuff up? You can build a bridge? You know which end of the entrenching tool not to sit on?

This is just a game we're talking about here. Responding to childish threats with further childish threats does't make the game more fun. Nor does it increase the intelligence level of this board.

I have the feeling however, that I am just pissing into the wind, as it were.

# Apr 04 2002 at 4:54 PM Rating: Default
Hahahah, Glad someone was able to present a good rebuttal!!
But I would have to say the indirect implication of retaliation is not neccessarily a threat, well legally speaking. LOL!
But what you say is true, and even after I posted I was chagrined at my implication... sounded more to me that I was experiencing more a moment of childish bravado, then anything. Oh well what can you do when you embarassingly thrust yer foot into your mouth in a public setting such as this... if I were to edit the post then I would only look worse.
So in turn I will waste further space with yet more drivel and useless banter.

LOL

# Mar 04 2002 at 11:17 AM Rating: Good
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH people! Stop bickering about what class this was meant for......it was meant for ANY AND ALL classes!

The ring has stats that benefit every class. Sure, a person may already have a better ring for their specific class by this time, but dont go around assuming things just so you can hog all the items for yourself.

I've had it with people trying to exclude other party members from rolling on good all/all items when its clear the excluded party member could have indeed used the item. Here's my rules for rolling:

1) If your current character is able to use the item, and your current character has legitimate use for it, roll for it.
2)If your current character no use for the item, and someone else in the party DOES need it, you do not roll.
3)If no one in the party needs the item for their current character, then anyone in the party who wants it can roll freely according to whatever rules the party members have agreed to.

this is the ideal ring for human paladins only. ok? do you understand? it's horrible for ANYONE else expecially monks because they whine too much and only need resists so AE does not break FD k? do you understand? if you are not a human paladin you should never roll on this ring and if you do you are not totally sweet like a human paladin. ok? do you understand? human paladins need this especially because many of them are ninjas and need it to help them flip out and chop heads off.

# Mar 03 2002 at 4:03 PM Rating: Excellent
Why is it that every time there's an ALL/ALL item posted, people always debate over what class it should go to?

The only time there is a serious debate in-game over who can use an item is when it's dropping in a zone that has an insane difficulty level, like NToV or 4th floor Sssrrraaa Temple. In cases other then that, each person who is able to use it is able to decide if it really would benefit them. Usually, they will pass on it if they don't want it.

Case in point: Yesterday, I was in a group in Umbral Plains. An 18-person raid walked in (mostly 51-53). Through OOC, they debated on EVERY item. Comments were thrown around such as "clerics can't use AC, they shouldn't get to roll", or "tanks need str more then monks, so monks can't roll". In the end, the raid fell apart. Meanwhile, our 6-person group killed at a rate faster then them, accumulating more nice loot, all because we didn't have to bicker over every item. Someone read the stats, we decided if we would like to have it, and then we rolled. We were happy for whoever won, because they got something they wanted.

This ring has 4ac, 6 to all stats, and 20hp/mana. Just about ANY class could use it. Personally, my wizard would pass on it, only because he has better.

Bottom line: When you exclude people from rolls because YOU think someone else could make better use of it, all you're doing is pissing off people who you said can't roll on it. The small bump in stats isn't going to make or break anyone's game.

Wow, I was going to rate this post up, but its already at a 5.0. This seems very reasonable to me. For pickup groups, I always beleive that everyone should roll for loot, unless it's no-drop, and they cannot use. If it's a guild raid, I can see using other loot systems, but for pickup groups, everyone should be allowed to roll.
