why would a bard not want this item? bards can melee perty good, and btw, casters can try to tank if they want, if thats how they play the game then so be it, not saying they will get very high lvls, but the choice is up to the individual player. as for bards, i think bards would love this item, i play a bard and i want one, its good haste, and ok stats, yes i would give it up to someone who mainly tanks, but if given the choice, i would jump on it. Bard songs just dont get all the jobs done sometimes.

I have this earring on my 61warrior it is 41%. Best melee earring in the game. Granted the stats are not as uber as some others out there but to free your other slots by having haste in your earring makes getting suited out much easier.

Doomshade is tough
# Apr 24 2003 at 6:11 PM Rating: Default
Guild jumped Rumblecrush last night after a few hours of halls of testing and dropped him with just one death, me, 63 warrior second rampage. Smoked Rumblecrush in like 4 minutes, even with half the guild drunk or stoned. Doomshade spawned as we were starting translocates out so decided to beat him up too. ICK! not sure if he usually that hard but I got dropped as third tank with him at 4% health and we barely squeeked by and killed him. This with a raid force of 38 ppl avg lvl 61. Maybe he is tougher the more loot he has? He dropped like 8 items, I got the earring, it really owns especially for a pvp server where no drop haste items are necessary. I was wondering what the haste is on it tho... someone said 41% but that sounds a little high.
#REDACTED, Posted: Apr 29 2003 at 12:20 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) u musta been pretty stone drunk or just a flat out dumbazz cause doomshade doesnt just "Spawn" he is a triggered and unless your raid was taking out all the darkmasters in under 7 min you wouldnt ever see him. next time think before posting or at least post what server u are on and the name of your guild so people can send tells in game telling you that you are a moron.

I beleive the Respawn time on Dark Masters is about 15 - 20 minutes. We spawn Doomshade while taking about 10 - 13 minutes to clear the 4 Dark masters.
RE: Doomshade is tough
# Sep 05 2003 at 3:48 AM Rating: Default
We counted the minutes, believing it was 10 minutes respawn time, and killed all four in 12 minutes which spawned DS. So, the timer on Dark Masters is more likely to be 15 minutes.

#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 19 2002 at 8:12 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Very nice item, i usually only post and try to set peeps straight about bow drops, bows are meant for ranger as much as a +20int staff was meant for a caster weather it says all/all or class specific. To answer the shaman's retarded @$$ you can self haste, melee classes cant, so ill let you in on a secret, if you have a 25%+ haste item on and self haste your already at max allowed haste so shoooooosh! Besides to answer the post about casters getting this, this item should be an all/all item it has stats that and more importantly resists that can benifit all, the haste is just added candy just remember the NBG rules and all will be happy and content!
RE: Nice Item
# Mar 28 2003 at 10:58 AM Rating: Default
Actually I would have to disagree. There are many items that have int/wis, this is mainly to help the hybrids more than casters. And in many cases the added effect is what makes or breaks an item, things such as haste, ID3, spell haste 3, extended enhancement 3, can hardly be called added candy, they are often what make an item worth having. This item should only be a melee/hybrid item *because of the haste effect. The only pure caster who *might get any use out of the haste is a cleric. There are many items that are melee targeted that I believe should be available to all, but this is definately not one of them.

The Most Rediculous thing I have ever seen was a person that I peeped (inspected without asking) was a melee persion with this, A Shiny Trinet of Speed, and A Cloak of Flames on!!! I was absolutely Flabberghasted!!! I almost wanted to cry, thinking what other Melee's got screwed when This chap, already had Haste Items!
RE: Most Rediculus thing..
# Jul 23 2003 at 8:59 AM Rating: Default
You would think that by the time a melee had any of those items they would know the item haste doesn't stack. However a bit younger one that I peeped had SCHW, FBBS and a cloak of crystaline waters... He was actually a friend of mine so I tried to offer him some Belt of Def (the cheap one not the Axgo thingy) and Crystal Chit Gauntlets thus improving AC and stats tremendously and holding onto his 36% haste. Nevertheless I couldn't get it through his sick thick skull that the lower haste items weren't doing nothing for him... oh well can't teach em all to fish I guess.

My monk currently wears an RBG and CoF. I bought the RBG a while ago, and on a recent Talendor kill, I was awarded the CoF.

But for the life of me, I cannot find a decent monk belt with similar/better stats and weight that doesn't require raid force to get.

Personally, if I were to get this earring, I'd probably pass down my CoF, because it was guild awarded, and my old cloak had better stats.
#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 19 2002 at 8:29 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) there is absolutly no way i could leave this page w/o posting about this. Hey punk, try geting past say lvl 45 b4 you start posting about items you couldnt get unless you bought an account from an auction site, i generally look at the stat boosts an item gives, as a ranger i look for Dex/Agi/Sta and most importantly AC, this is by far a great ear ring, regaurdless of the haste effect, hell for the longest time i had atleast 2 haste items on at any given time, most melee toons over 60 have aleast 2 or more haste items either on or in the bank and that being cause of the stat benifit you get. and btw if you ever make it to the point where you can raid for items you will notice that you will end up rolling for the items or it will go to whomever needs it the most, or if it is class specific it will be for them to deside who gets it or the means to deside and if they cant deside then the GL (guild or group leader) will find a sollution, the guy you inspected was prolly in a guild that raids alot, and raids the stuff that drops insane gear, maybe he was the last one to get one.....never crossed your mind that some guilds and people are willing to sacrifice days to camp an item so that all there melee classes can get this item or any item for that matter. peace and remember NBG!! (need nefore greed for the reading impaired)

I would wear this with my RBG, it isn't all just the haste on these things, I wouldn't give up my RBG until i found another belt with better stats and hps, so think of that before ya rip on a tank with 2 haste items sometimes the best haste items have really nice stats that add up for a tank

Contemptor, I don't know what raid you go on, but the raids I go on, if the MA dies, it very likely will end in a whipe out. I will agree that it need not only be a MA that gets it though. As to the shammy who thinks he can tank, you remind me of a RL friend of mine who played a shaman. He thought he could tank too. He also didn't know how to play his character. I'm sorry, but a haste item like this shouldn't even be considered for a caster. The classes they have listed for this item are just fine.

Whats the haste on this thing anyway?

LOL Its pretty funny reading these posts, especially the ones about Casters using it. There are 3 types, caster classes, melee classes, hybrids. Hybrids are a mix, mostly melee. Casters are meant to CAST and to waste such an item on a caster is crazy. Rogue, monk, ranger, beastlord (i think?) have epic haste, and most of the time would have epic which is around 40percent haste, so they wouldnt need this earring. Casters shouldnt use, so that leaves warrior, paladin, shadow knight, and bard. /hug verant for making it non caster usable. I really dont think its just for MA either. People say yeaahh give it to MA for better taunt. In lots of raid the MA dies, and the person that uses this earring wont always be raiding. So why just MA? Pally/SK with a 2 hander around 40dmg 50dly with chanter, earring, and bard haste is going to be a great damange delay ratio. Warrior has what a 19dly wpn? takes it down a couple of delay. Im not saying its bad for a war, but its not just for MA

Don't know about the others, but isn't monk epic haste a clicky? Thus still leaving the monk in need of a Worn haste item as well to achieve an even higher self haste.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's the impression I got.
# Dec 30 2003 at 11:34 PM Rating: Default
yes, monks still need a worn haste item, but frankly, a 36 haste item with better stats is preferable.
At level 65, I use a 22 haste worn and epic and usually max out my haste with buffs anyway.

So Im saving for an LDON belt with nice stats and will get the 36 haste aug and stick it on, and that still leaves me with a type 2 and a type 1 slot left to fill on the belt.

# Jun 20 2003 at 12:30 AM Rating: Decent
Actually there are FOUR classifications of chars in EQ. Casters, Hybrid-Casters, Hybrid-Melee, and Melee. And please before somone just starts flaming.. Do some research into the different classes, their melee abilities, offense, defense, etc. Thats what is defining the four classifications. If you do that research, you will find this (and its been this way since the beginning, as well as been refered to by Verant now SoE as such):

Casters - (Enchanter, Magician, Necromancer, Wizard)
Offense/Defense max 140/145 - Melee 3x lvl + 3 max 110.

Hybrid Casters - (Cleric, Druid, Shaman)
Offense/Defense max 200 - Melee 4x lvl + 4 max 200.

Hybrid Melee - (Bard, Beastlord, Paladin, Ranger, Shadowknight)
Offense/Defense 5 x lvl till class max - Melee 5x lvl + 5 till class max.

Melee - (Monk, Rogue, Warrior) a seperate classification from hybrid-Melee due to having no spells.
Offense/Defense 5x lvl (warriors +5) to class max - Melee 5x lvl + 5 to class max.

Its the rate the different classes gain their skills and the max values of those skill that (then Verant) SoE has defined them.
As to the class best suited for this item of those that can wear it.. ALL of them would benifit in some way, even if just for the haste and even if they were already wearing a faster haste item due to the stat modifiers.

# Aug 06 2003 at 7:01 AM Rating: Default
Clerics , Shamans, and Druids are not Hybids. IF anything you can call them Wisdom based Casters.

And another thing a Clerics melee skills cap at 175, Shamans cap at 200, Druids cap at 175.

Let me try and explain what Hybrid means since you aparently don't have a clue. Now the word Hybrid means to make something new from 2 or more previous things. What were the 2 or more previous classes that make up a Cleric , or Shaman, or Druid? The only Hybrids are Paladins, Shadow Knights, Rangers, Beastlords, and Bards.

Next time try playing the game before you make a post.

DPS is NOT melee. If you think DPS is melee, then you think rangers can tank.
# Jul 30 2003 at 2:53 AM Rating: Default
actually, i have to correct you on a couple of things in you post, first, you state that bards, beastlords, paladin, ranger, and shadowknights all get offense/defense at 5 times lvl and melee skills as 5 times lvl plus five, that's wrong, i have a bard, and his offense and defense is correct to that statement, but my bst's is lvl times 5 plus 5 till max, as with rng i'm unsure, would have to look at his.

now, for pure melee, your off track again, monk offense skill is 5 times lvl plus 5 till 30, then its 5 times lvl plus 10 till max, defense is only 5 times lvl.

i grant that you did do your research, and you got it mostly correct. and as for whom should get this earring, imho, it should go to whom can use it, and whom needs it the most, be it the MT of a raid force, or a one of the rng's sitting up the back pumping out the arrows, or who ever else is there, that doesn't have either haste of 40% plus WITHOUT epic, or has something less in that slot, tho, at the lvl one should be and pretty much has to be, i would expect them to have something equal to or better than stat wise.

that's my 2 cents, take in conversion rates it's maybe 1 cent

oh, and feel free to flame me, i prolly won't be back reading these anytime soon :)

Just because it is a haste item does not mean that it is instantly a "melee only item." If you'll notice, there are several haste items that are all/all, some that are caster only, and some that are caster and priest class only. I'm mildly disappointed that this earring is not all/all.

I'm a 60 shaman, and I wear an RBG as part of me standard gear. I like it for the hps and for the haste. I do not hit things all the time, but I do enjoy meleeing, and working on me various weapons skills. There is something intensely satisfying about thwacking on a mob. And thwacking a mob faster is just that much more fun.

It is a GAME. You PLAY GAMES. GAMES should be FUN. If I find it fun to have me shaman whacking things, that's all part of playing a game.

Every decision does not need to start and end with the question "What is the most efficient way for me to aid me group in killing this mob?"

I've cast Avatar on enchanters, and Avatar on clerics playing with thier new hammers. I'll give melee buffs to anyone in me group that wants them, including keeping them in haste, as long as I have mana to spare. And because I'm a cannibalizing machine, I often have mana to spare.

That said, the haste on this item is top end. While I would enjoy having the earring, getting it would take the cooperation of several people. And within that group of several people, there is bound to be someone who would enjoy the item as much as I, and who needs it more than I. For something like this, where the effect is unique because it is so high, I would cheerfully defer to a system where melee's only rolled on it, even if it were all/all. While these stats are very nice for an earring, it would be easier for me to make up the stats on another earring or item than it would be for a melee to find another 41% haste item.

But just because something has a haste effect does not mean that it is instantly classified as "melee only" gear. Other classes hit things too. Other classes are entitled to play the game as they want. To me the base line question is "Would you use the item, and not sell it?"

Just follow the general rules of civilized conduct: Decide before loot drops how it will be distributed. Communicate the process effectively, and clearly, and long before the loot drops. If you do not like how the loot will be distributed, then attempt through reasoned dialogue to change the process BEFORE loot drops. If you fail, either cheerfully accept the process, or hunt elsewhere with different folks.

But know that there are no hard set final "rules" on how loot MUST be distributed to be distributed fairly.

First of all i have a paladin. Most paladins are damage dealers, and use a 2 hander. This is awesome for a 2 hander. Even with this and self haste it woudl be 66percent haste which is uber on a 50dly or so weapon. With chanter haste..... But im not going to say this is a paladin earring, because its also nice for any melee class to help the damage output and taunt. Ear is the crap slot (except for the potc earring) and with this haste its awesome and it frees up haste cloak or hands whatever slot your old haste was in for a uber stat item. This is a crazy earring and anyone lucky enough to get this is one lucky player.

Well, I think this is a damn good item for an enchanter because of the int/cha/ma combination, and the haste is a plus for those days that we do need to melee with our Snake Stick. Wouldn't benefit many other classes. I'm kidding ya'll...If it were offered to me, I wouldn't take it for myself, this is a damn nice earring, that I would agree should go straight to a MT. I just thought it would be nice for once to be the one to gripe about an item that really was meant for a specific class, or at least only a few classes. I get tired of tanks griping because a certain item with str/int/wis/hp/ma has a high AC, and so they should get it, or at least be aloud to roll just because it is all/all. Some items there should be no question about, this is one of those, would be great for almost any melee class, but I would epuipt my MT with it if I were leading a raid, or atleast only those specific classes would be rolling.

just so you all know there is a minimum delay on every weapon in the game, dont get me wrong this earing is very nice but for someone duel wielding with ubber chanter haste you most likely will be near the minimum delay on any 1hander by itself, hence dont think your 18 delay with earing and chanter haste will become .1 not even .5(seconds)

Either way, a good haste item will allow your chanter to buff you with a "super melee buff", instead of straight up haste. Those buffs are generally lower on the haste percentage but can have ac, agi, dex improvements as well.
RE: speed
# May 20 2002 at 5:38 AM Rating: Default
There is no minimum delay. This has been proven quite a few times. In fact there used to be a 6 delay weapon in the game which was taken out because it was too damn good. You can get your delay down to half of what the weapons original delay is if you have 100% haste. Monk monk epics are 9/8 (down from 9/16) weapons with 100% haste.

Ok so in a raid to kill Doomshade (who makes Vindi in Kael look like a teddybear) who would get this item before anyone else? A guilds Main Tank is who. Most people know that to get a nice haste item with nice stats is not that easy. As a tank AC and HP are waht they want and most Haste items don't have the best AC for that slot. With this haste item, which is awesome by far, your friendly MT could take out that low AC or hp haste belt or cape and get more of the wanted stats in that slot. Go ahead and flame me on this but this earring is by far a Main Tank item first and foremost.

With the idea of bringing 30 of your friends to kill doomshade? If you bring 30 make sure they are 30 totally decked out people. Doomshade has very high hp regen so you need massive damage output on him. He can not be slowed that I know of and we have tried to slow him many many times. He is worth killing if you can he drops up to 4 items and level 60 spells. Doomshade is one mean mo fo pretty much.

My guild at this point is actually looking to acquire this for our main tank. He actually at one point tossed out his haste belt for his high ac one just so he could take more punishment. A main tank using this could then switch out a cloak of flames or crystalline waters because of the higher haste (Magelo states that this earring is 41% haste, while CoF and CoCW both have 36%), and use a cloak with higher ac on it, like the Ancient Seahorse Hide Cloak for example. Same goes for items in the hands slot, like Silver Chitin Handwraps...most tanks around the level of this battle would most definitely love to have the use of their Velious quest gauntlets (which most probably have since its a more common drop, hehe).

DS is quite a bit harder imo... fought both vindi and him as mt several times and ds can take you down faster if you don't have well trained clerics and tanks... earring is nice though... great haste at 41%... would love to replace my haste belt with that... I have a nice high ac and stats belt waiting for just the occasion to get a cloak or something like this :D

Doomshade is harder then vindi. Doom has about 2x the hp and hits harder. Doom also flurries like crazy which gives him additional DPS which can take a poor equiped warrior down fast. Doomshade also has a very small attack radius making it hard for all the melees to fight, unlike vindi with a giant radius. As for warriors getting this earring first is debatable.
I'd say rogues, monks, warriors, rangers have an equal chance for this very nice earring.

I agree - this is to "untie" higher end players from their Epics for Haste. For those that cannot see, this allows these classes to use weapons that are vastly superior to the Epics which are from EQs second expansion.

For Rangers at least, this turns all of the myriad sub-1 ratio 2 handers available now into massive DPS options. For example, a Windblade with 41% haste will out-DPS Swiftwind and just about any 1 hander you can pair with it.

As a ranger, I wouldn't take this. By the time you're able to take on DS, most every ranger will have at *least* Swiftwind, if not Earthcaller as well. Swiftwind gives 40% haste - the 1% difference won't affect much honestly. Same goes for rogues, their epic gives them 40% haste as well. Beastlord epic also gives 40% haste, so I don't think you'll find many beastlord's rolling on this, once the beastlord class gets more popular and developed.

Im afraid i must agree, even tho it would hurt so bad to let go of this item :)
i would sugges my guild to default it to one of the big Warrior-MA's since they dont get haste from epics, and the ear is about the best place you want a haste item, since hastebelts/gaunts tend to be low on AC and all. Well, at least thats my opinion :)

Umm, what about bards. Bards need haste just as much as any other that's listed on there. IN FACT, you need haste for orb of tishan to increase the chance on it's proc besides just dex.

On really high end mobs, I always use my tash orb if the mob can be slowed. PLUS I stack it with jman stick.

This is great for Statue of Rallos Zek enounter since once he's slowed after I use OOS, I just use my orb of tishan then switch to jman stick, and don't have to bother with OOS anymore when our shamans have to reslow.

Doomshade in no way 'Makes Vindi in Kael look like a teddybear'.

Doomshade is much easier than Vindi. Main reason being, Vindi rampages, Doomshade doesn't. The dps is probably around the same seeing as Doomshade flurries up a storm, but all your healers are on one person. And as for who the earring would go to, probably a main tank.

Currently in a guild on Venril Sathir server that whipes on Vindi but goes thru Doomshade easy, I would have to say vindi is harder.

'ROFL doomshade is WAY harder than vindi... '

Have you ever even fought this guy? For the drops, Doomshade is cake. We just killed him again tonight, not one death. As long as you have clerics who know how to heal, you can't lose.

I would have to agree.. both mobs do about the same DPS.. BUT, the rampage makes the vindi encounter require two tanks, and having to split off healers for your rampage tank. Doomshade is just straight up rotation on one person, trivializing the encounter.

on top of that, the added hitpoints of Doomshade arent really noticable with 2+ groups doing him..
#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 11 2002 at 5:22 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) As usual, Ainwhine is a f*cking ******. If you don't understand how Doom's more hp and flurrying is worse than Vindi's rampage, you need to go back to seb.

I'll assume this is Yogurt who posted this (seeing as he is the only twit who calls me that)

I should go back to sebs? You spend your entire EQ time farming bracers in Umbral so you can buy crappy gear for your ebayed alts. Your large target experience stops at Venril Sathir, don't act like you know ****.

This earring, which has decent ac and nice stats also provides haste, that could mean changing from Guantlets of Dragon Slaying to some better guantlets with more AC. I know I'll be in a guild who does this guy alot, I would love nothing more then to have a HASTE earring.
No Drop

According to latest message, new rings are now No Drop. If this isn't counter-active on old DROPPING Earrings, these things are gonna skyrocket. Yes, skyrocket UP from 64,420pp average price. Good lord, be prepared to take a 2nd mortgage on your SOUL for one of these.

#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 07 2002 at 11:46 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I know that a chanter that likes to use the incadecent wand would definately find this handy. Imagine the proc's with this item, boon, werewolf, and spell haste. Of course I don't know for sure if boon and werewolf stack or not cause I am not a chanter but this would be real cool to see. Those other stats would be nice to.
#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 07 2002 at 11:47 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) oops I'm dumb, chanters can't even use it
