Int+15 is nice to have while skilling up to the point where one can get 8th shawl. And an agnostic guildie of mine was able to equip this. I'm not trying to argue if he should have been able to or not, just stating as fact, he was able to equip it.
LOL yes the 8th shawl is better, but not everyone is going to work on the tradeskills required for it, besides this cloak is hell of alot easier to get. Kill mob that can almost be solo'd vs all the pain in the backside the shawl quests are? If your talking reward versus difficulty, this peice wins totally hands down.
I chose Tunare as my Goddess, because I didn't know any better when I began playing eq. Yes, it has posed some problems (no shopping in Neriak for sure, or other evil places), and I had to do a little faction work for my epic. However, it was not much faction work, 1-2 hours of killing a newbie npc. I finished my epic this past weekend. So Religion doesn't affect the epic much at all. I am very glad VI put this in the game. I seriously doubt it is a "punishment" or "joke" on agnostics, or to make you upset. It is to reward those of us who didn't quit when we realized our mistake, and put up with the restrictions of religion. It's been a bit challenging at times, but I am one of the few enchanters I know who can walk up and kiss Tunare on the cheek~and I want this cloak ~*begins raid prep now*
Only bummer I see with it is that it tends to rot -- a lot.
If it weren't NO DROP then it would be awesome. Then, at least, it couild be looted and given/sold to someone who could use it.
MOST enchanters are agnostic and, as such, this is worthless for them. As such, having this nice cloak NO DROP means that those who did choose a religion can only get this by hunting here and many of them are RP types who don't do such places often.
Bummer for them IMO and I've seen this rot enough times simply due to no one being around that could use it and there's no way I'm waisting my time /t every enchanter out there to see if they could use it AND can get to the MOB's corspe before it rots. I am a nice guy but I'm not going that far out of my way to 'maybe' find someone who can use an item that drops where I'm hunting.
"...who didn't quit when we realized our mistake..."
How is choosing a Diety at character creation a mistake? I see choosing Agnostic as a mistake, as there are lots of items out there that are diety restricted, and I see choosing agnostic as saying "I don't want any special items that only I can use," even though many of these items arent very good. You ever seen the Imbued Platinum Fire Opal rings? I made 2 of them on my Enchanter for my Wizard - 16 int and 90? mana total for less than 400 plat!
~(changing subject)
To my undearstanding, being Agnostic will give you the best *starting* faction you can in all cities, (No faction penalty for following a good diety in an evil city for example). But what makes me laugh is the kind of people (yes, I've met people like this) that scold you for not being agnostic, and preach that agnostic is the best way to go, then you see that same person doing something that harms a faction that he or she may need, (Such as Dark Elves killing orcs in Crushbone, which harms Neriak Dark Elf warrior guild faction, whom are also the guards) and when you question them about it, they say Faction is worthless now with PoP and Luclin. :\
My only Agnostic character is my Vah Shir, whom had no other choice, all of my other characters follow a diety, including my enchanter, and I've never had a problem with faction. Its easy for Enchanters anyway with our Alliance line of spells, and illusions.
Why would a Cloak of Faith be wearable by those who have none?
For all you having difficulties with what I said... Faith = Diety. Agnostic = No Diety, therefore Agnostic = Not this cape.
Also, Half Cloaks and Half Capes are worn off of one shoulder, not truely on the back. That is what I am guessing this is. Such as the one that Raziel was wearing in the intro cinematic to Legacy of Cain: Soul Reaver.
sorry ppl but agnostic CANT wear it, me agnostic, got on weekend, cant wear it... simple it is!
What i dont see ist a reason why agnostic cant take it and why it is a cloak but goes on shoulder slot... crap it would be a really nice upgrade, .... and why did Verant make that diety things after a long time i choose to be agnostic.... bad mood!
#REDACTED,
Posted:Apr 20 2002 at 5:06 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Agnostic can wear it even though not listed. /laugh at anyone that thought it was cool that agnostic couldnt wear.
For some reason.. I find it very hard to believe that an agnostic can wear this cloak. VI usually doesnt work like that and if you did equip it, it would only take til a patch. Perhaps tell which server your on etc and what it dropped off of,maybe then I'd believe it but I doubt it til I could inspect you myself :) (seeing is believing they always say) IMO, IF you did get it, it would only be for show and tell cuz of rottage. /shrug
I would still like to know what this drops off of in Ssra. Since it was posted on my old guild boards, I have been rather unsuccessful in finding it on any mobs loot table. #1 Guild on my server has not seen it drop either and if they have had it drop.. no one's saying anything about it.
/wave Erollisi Marr and quite happy about that decision, even moreso if I can get this cloak
Sorry, I dont check here much :) Im from AB server. You are welcome to come inspect me :p Although I could easily just put in there for show, my magelo profile is http://www.magelo.com/eq_view_profile.html?num=138716
Trust me, the cloak -can- be worn by any enchanter, regardless of diety. Whether this is an oversight or intended Im not sure...most likely an oversight though. I will quite happily say who drops it, once all the chanters in my guild have it....as it is on AB atm, our guild is racing another in SSRA every day, trying to get to the emp first. Am avoiding giving them any help by posting any information on public boards, hope you understand
Sage Zoranicer Thornwithin Mortalis Antonius Bayle
Magelo profile says RACE: ALL.. Maybe VI has modified it since the first person to get it ?(which really makes no sense considering name of the cloak, but also making note that they have a 'cloak' in the shoulder/mantle slot... wtg VI~)
As far as posting location or mob here, I can understand not wanting to do that with guild competition. LOL, send it by email /plead - Aamandae@hotmail.com
The most Enchanters of this other guild already have the cloak (and yes im agnostic too ;) ). It isnt a very rare drop and im surprised that a nice item like that drops of an easy mob.
Lets just hope Verant dont fix that agnostic thingy...
instead of using friendly chit chat on a public message board, post who drops this one please seeing as now you dont havea reason not to remain quiet about it any more.
What does it drop from, where or what part of the temple does it drop at, and how often does the drop-er appear? Would love to know as I have a raid date in 1 month to go get it. I hope. Seems more likely than the Neriad Shawl as I can't seem to get enough fighting classes into Sirens to kill the sea horses save as a door camp to reach the Sirens. The Grey and the Temple on the other hand, everyone wants to go visit.

WOOT I'm now Actually glad i decided to choose Erollisi Marr as my god. Now if my guild raids there I'll get it cause I am the only chanter with a religon !!!!!!
As a faithful follower of Tunare for close to 3 years, all I can say to those chanters out there that chose Agnostic because they wanted to complete their epic more easily is.....
HA HA
And to those who chose it to get around easier in everyday life, and those that chose it for role-play reasons, you really should be able to understand that they need to give folks an incentive for choosing a religion. And quite frankly, it's about time they did. Granted I'll probably never even fight the mob that drops this, but perhaps it's a sign of things to come. (Hopefully.)
If you think about it, it's kind of silly that this wasn't done sooner. And is why I never went back and started over agnostic. There HAS to be some incentive to follow a religion, other-wise, why would you? And if 99.9% of chanters are going to be agnostic... why even offer them a religion?
Aye...I chose agnostic for RP reasons...I liked the idea of choosing an agnostic dark elf because I like the inherent dark side of being a dark elf, but would never support a god/government that does what Innoruuk/Neriak does to others and it's own people. I made this character way before I knew everyone was making agnostic enchanters...creation date was August of 1999.
Additionally...agnostic does *NOT* mean you don't worship a god. When EQ first came out, VI realized this. That's why monks get to choose "agnostic" for their religion. It's been my belief that this is like Buddhism where you don't worship a god. In Buddhism you can really worship any God you want to...it's your choice...but it does mean you to believe in a higher spiritual power.
I don't remember picking "athiest" when I chose my character. =)
Anyway...it's a cool item. It is good to see Verant mixing up the items...and who's to say a near equivalent for agnostic chanters isn't out there. It's not worth getting ticked off about an item you can't have. It kinda sucks they start doing this 3 years after the game comes out (I made my chanter before it was even possible to restrict an item by diety)...however...that's the nature of a constantly evolving game. It's not worth getting upset over.
Ill take it! with this I could forget about the shawl quest. Unless its completely uber, and it should be. But still this is a mighty fine shawl to wear. My only question is with a name like CLAOK of faith shouldnt it be a back item?
Lyddia Ravensweaver Enchantress of the 35 Circle Drinal
Sweet, the best part of this is that there are fewer chanters out there with a religion. Sooo, that means if I ever get into a raid here I will more then likely get the item.
I love these diety items, I have a wizard of tunare also. It has one sweet face mask that no one is in a rush to get
Come on, VI, don't delay the last 3 coldain prayer shawl quests any longer. Of course it won't have 15 INT/AC, but 10 of all and nice FT IV or something, so I will like that one much more than this crappy shawl ;-) Considering the work I put into getting the 7th shawl to now, I think it's s shame they throw out this shawl now.
Wow. Finally, VI rewards me for playing an Enchanter of Rodcet Nife for 3 years. Not that I'll ever get this item, but it still makes me happy that it exists. : )

Posted:Feb 23 2002 at 3:29 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Aye.. I am one of those Agnostic Beguiler's out there, and this is shady that they did this to us. They use the name 'faith' and such on the item and give the dieties. But their are SO many other items with names that mean things and the stats just dont add up to the name. Then all of a sudden they throw the big *****! ball at us? ... shady
YAY!!!! Finally! I also am one of the few enchanters who chose a religion....I worship Tunare. That has been a oain in the you know what...I might actually have a chance at this thing!
if and when I ever get to where this drops, I'll probably be on a raid/with several groups. Normally, I wouldn't even dream of getting this....but chances are, I'm one of the few enchanters who was stupid enough to have chosen to worship brell all those moons ago!! ahahaha thank you VI!!! (I never thought I'd say that)
Don't waste time posting how the deity part is stupid if you would look at the name of the cloak it has faith right in it. I think Verant is trying to help those that took a more role playing deity then agnostic.
/ooc actually I made my enchanter agnostic before I had any idea it might prove helpful. I did this as a roleplaying decision (almost all of my other characters worship a deity in keeping with the personality I attribute to them) because he is a Drow and the character description says that even other DE give you a hard time if you aren't a necro, I decided he had turned his back on everyone, deities included.
Very true. If you look, it even has some Deities listed that NO enchanter can select at startup. This was deffinately made to **** off most of the Enchanter's in the game.
Do you think that Verant is unaware that most enchanters are agnostic? They clearly added this item specifically to reward enchanters that took a deity.
Nevertheless, it will still rot 99 times out of 100. I am hardly the only one who restarted a religious Enchanter after the problems with Illusions and religions were noticed. A nice congrats to those who stuck with their Enchanters of faith though. Heck, I didn't even stick with my Enchanter at all =)
