No need to do screaming mace quest first

For anyone wondering, you don't need to do the first part of the screaming mace quest to do the turn in for the prayer cloth - just kill an orc warlord, get the bracer, and give it to the elven priest. So you don't have to waste an SBS and the chainmail!

But you still need to turn at least the Dwarven Ringmail Tunic in:
"Hand a dwarven smith the Dwarven Ringmail Tunic, dropped by Emperor Crush.
a dwarven smith says 'AHA!! My ringmail!! My, you ARE a resourceful one! Here is your reward as promised. It is exquisite, if I do say so myself. You might also wish to tell the priest in the cell over there that the king is dead. I am sure he will be pleased to hear that and might even be able to help you further. Farewell! It's time for me to make my escape!'
You gain experience!!
You receive a Dwarven Mace."

BECAUSE
"and an elven priest the Bracers of Battle, dropped by the orc warlord.
an elven priest says 'Erollisi be praised! You slew the orc lord! Well, here is a token of my appreciation! Should you wish to have that mace enchanted, just hand me the mace and my token and I shall uphold my end of the bargain!'
You gain experience!!
You receive a Prayer Cloth of Tunare.
Give the Dwarven Mace and the Prayer Cloth of Tunare to an elven priest.
an elven priest says 'Have you the other item I require?'
an elven priest says 'As promised, here is your mace. Let it not fall into dark hands as its power is hidden until combat when it will reveal its true nature. Fare thee well!'
You gain experience!!
You receive a Screaming Mace."

how long did you have to kill mobs to get to the point of turn in? how much exp did you get in getting there? if you did this playing as intended, then you mace as meek as it seem has played its part. If you dont learn to do quests you may never learn to use the whole game .
It is called everquest a malti player game, lose the game deck mind and move on.

Uhhh this quest seems kind of dumb. u got hrough all that work for sucky mace(8/35) and a 10 str buff doesnt really seem worth it. The only good thing out of it is prolly the prayer shawl. Thats it.

The screaming mace isn't that good a weapon, even for a low-level non-twink. My first character used an even worse weapon, a velium morningstar, until about level 12, when I ran across my first Sarnak enforcer. This sucker is a 7dmg, 28 delay 1hb weapon, that only weighs 2 stone. True, it doesn't have the proc, but will still outdamage the screaming mace, even with the proc. They usually sell for about 25-40pp, so one hq bear skin and you've got one. If I had known about them sooner, I would have had one by level 5, especially since some jerk conned me into paying 50pp for the velium morningstar.

The prayer shawl, on the other hand, is a nice +3wis shoulder item, with the same ac as leather. Braided ivy cords are better, but fairly expensive, and hard to get for low level. My druid is lvl 10, and I beleive this quest will be the next item on his agenda.

At one time this was a great weapon, as was many of the weapons Noobs call crappy. The world has gone to crap when I GIVE a guy a set of icetooth claws and he says "these suck". He was lvl 12 btw.
i must agree

many items that look good have gone to crap... the thing is, many people ARE greedy and when you do find those that take every gift you hand them, they except them with generosity... for instance, I met a lvl 2 cleric who was in bad shape <newb club, naked> and so I told her I would help her... how can a lvl 12 druid help <at the time>? I PL'ed her to lvl 5, and literally gave her 50pp, along with some rusty equipment for her to sell, along with 3 backpacks... just because she asked for help, and when I gave her a rusty mace to use for while until I found something better, she took it and was happy! too many people get twinked <i got leather armor and scimitar at lvl 5 free hardly twinked, and most of my equip was given to me for free, but I had helped the person in some way> and those that re not twinked or greedy are the best gamers... I have been twinked a bit, yes, but ANYTHING that comes my way I accept, and usually give bck twofold to that person if i can...

also I hate when people yell "LVL 1 newbie looking for good armor and weapons PST"... WTF? how much fun is gaming if you are begging the whole damn time? I told him to hit lvl 3 then talk to me and he did o I gve him about 5pp and camped...

Ummm Maybe they are working on their begging skill? Smiley: chug Smiley: drunk

By the way, I hate beggars. I wont kills the poor NPCs in the game, but dang it people, if you want to have fun PLAY THE GAME. Earn stuff, make stuff, heck even loot stuff people leave behind. Just please stop filling OOC with "Can some one twink me." Smiley: banghead

OK rant over. Sorry if anyone is offended.
Screaming Mace
# Jul 03 2001 at 2:11 PM Rating: Decent
If you need +wis items and a good blunt weapon, I say keep the cloth and use the regular Dwarven Mace for now, and just camp the Warlord a second time. Once you get the bracer off of him and trade it for another Prayer Cloth, you just turn in the extra Prayer Cloth and your Dwarven Mace for the Screaming Mace. Now, you have both the Screaming Mace and the Prayer Cloth.

For anyone who doesnt know what the screaming mace procs, it proc yaulp1 a low lvl cleric/pally spell, its a buff i think the prayer cloth is mych better than the screaming mace, i saw someone say that shoulders with ac and wisdom are rare and its true, i dont see to many floating around.
RE: Screaming Mace
# Nov 25 2001 at 12:14 PM Rating: Default
while the proc "Screaming Mace" is similar to Yaulp, it does not include an AC buff as far as i can tell. I had one from lvl 1 to 15 or so ( and every time it proc'd i just got the 10 str. My 2cp worth, GL.

RE: this mace is not all that and then some

Yeah, this mace really sucks for a TWINKED level 10-15 (MR. ANON). Just how many level 10-15 non-twinks do you think have 50-100pp in spare change just lying around!??

I have a level 11 druid, and have spent every penny I have just to get most of my level 9 spells, and I still have to save up for my upcoming level 14 spells (which are even more expensive)!

I don't have the 50-100pp to get a "better" weapon at my level. And for your information, the items in this quest do NOT sell for that much! This quest (and the mace you get from it) is one of the best at my level range.

(To everyone else but ANON, sorry for the flame, but I'm tired of twinked players telling me that my hard-earned equipment is worthless when all their equipment was just given to them.)

End of rant

Sarnak enforcer is just one example of a better item that is cheap. 7dmg/28dly 2 stone wt. 30pp price on average. However, for a questable item for a low level, this is nice, as it doesn't even cost 30pp if you can get together a group to quest it. I would not, however, buy it for 75, or even 50pp. BTW, my main character is a lvl 31 cleric (not the best money generating class) and I can generate about 50pp-100pp+ an hour, so I'm not sure why the 25 pally is always so broke.

Personally, I'd keep the prayer shawl.

# Aug 25 2001 at 7:44 AM Rating: Default
agreed. i have a 25 paladin as my main and i rarely have more then 10pp on him. i camp things for money so i can get the things like spells and armor. and yes i have 2 twinks only cuase i had some spare items that i really couldn't sell for that much so i gave them to my lower level chars.
a good reason to get this is cuase it will raise you 1hb skill fast, and nother reason is when soloing you hit alot ton more!
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 06 2001 at 12:19 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) i agree about the twinks telling us our stuff is crap most of us work very hard to get stuff and then a lv 1 newbie walks by with full velious armor!

There's 2 mini-quests to complete the Screaming Mace quest.

Mini-quest #1: Kill Emperor Crush and loot his Dwarven Ringmail Tunic (DRT). Hail the Dwarven Smith in the slave camp and tell him "The king is dead", and ask about "ringmail". He will ask you for the DRT. Give the DRT to the Dwarven Smith to receive the Dwarven Mace (DM).

Mini-quest #2: Kill the Orc Warlord and loot his Bracers of Battle (BoB). [You only need 1. The name is plural for some reason] Hail the High Elf Priest in the slave camp and tell him "The king is dead". He will ask you for proof. Give him the BoB to receive the Prayer Cloth of Tunare (PCoT).

Screaming Mace Quest: Give the High Elf Priest in the slave camp the DM and PCoT to receive your Screaming Mace.

The Prayer Cloth is an excellent item in itself, especially for a low to mid-level druid. Shoulder items with AC and Wisdom are hard to find. If you are a druid and happen upon a BoB I would suggest keeping the Prayer Cloth rather than turning it in for the screaming mace.

If you really want a Prayer Cloth it is possible to buy a BoB, the value of a screaming mace is pretty low these days so people are willing to sell them. Figure 75pp for a screaming mace so you shouldnt have to pay more than that for a BoB. I bought one just yesterday.

Anyone know who drops this sucker?
RE: Who drops?
# Dec 16 2000 at 7:24 PM Rating: Good
Not a drop. Read the quest for Screaming Mace. It states that you kill the Warlord in CB for his Bracer of Battle. Turn in the Bracer to the Elven prisoner after telling him "The king is dead" and he'll hand you back the prayer cloth. Turn in dwarven mace (from turning in dwarven tunic to the dwarven prisoner in same shack) and cloth at same time for screaming mace, or keep the cloth for some additional wisdom if you have a better weapon.
some info

exactly, except the warlord is a rare spawn and is usually picked off right away by a newbie group lvls 10-14. and even worse is that he rarely drops BoB! drt is usually dropped by crush and is so common it is just given away. some newbies think its worth something and try to sell it for 20pp but of course they cant because they were given it in the first place. again some newbies think BoB sells for 80pp+ but it never sells anyway because it is so rare. dwarven mace is almost as good as screaming mace, so you dont really have to get a BoB, but if your intent on getting a screaming mace, warlord spawns on the little castle island near lego and oracle. hope i helped, have fun good bye

sorry hit enter too soon, hey i will buy a DRT from anyone for 10-15pp, anytime an amiable or warm vendor is around i can get a little over 19pp from a vendor for one of these w/ 100cha (love that Faydark Ringmail). That's a quick 4-9pp turn around. Of course it's the full 19 or so if i happen to pick one up while camping D'Vinn. The vendor price seems to drop quite steeply tho w/ less faction and/or CHA (my base CHA is only 75)

I should say tho that i thoughtt these were pretty worthless too til i found what i can get for them at vendor.

Warlord is the toughie, very hard to get that BoB... About one in every 5 or 6 drop it. Found around castle, or (rarely) in throne room, but that doesn't happen often. Crush almost always drops the ringmale, so it's common as dirt and isn't worth a cent. Killing Lords a cinch, but getting him to drop that elusive BoB... VERY annoying camping a random spawn like this...

RE: some info

The warlord does not always spawn in that little inlet. He randomly spawns anywhere outside the castle, but inside the moat. All the orcs who spawn around there are placeholders. If you want the warlord to pop, just waste all of the orcs along the castle walls.
RE: some info
# Mar 23 2001 at 4:23 AM Rating: Default
Warlod can also spawn in castle. He can spawn anywhere in zone but general it is in or around front of castle... I have seen him pop in tower, in throne room, in east slaver pits, or by the lego and oracle in that inlet thingie amoung other places.

Mutliple characters on multiple serves (too many to list)
#Anonymous, Posted: Apr 08 2001 at 7:36 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) i have killed him 2 times today and once yesterday each time he was in the little inlet and each time he dropped BoB and i ninja looted 3 DRT's and have 3 screaming maces im gonna sell 2 of em when my buddy gives me my PGT hehe 2 real good proc weps hehe
