I just completed "Words Unspoken" for another trio of characters and got this item on all three. Interestingly I never saw it the first time I did it quite some time ago so it must be new for that quest. I'd never seen the fragment before so I was quite confused.
At the end of Sleepless Nights mission (Shard's landing) you get yellow text saying: You have been given Fragment of Legendary Alaran History and 1 is placed in your inventory
I'm now hearing that mobs have to con light blue to get these to drop from mobs or receive as a reward from the 4 "The Word" task. I understand at level 115 that most should have this done already and i do on two toons, But Lot also have 115 toons that have not finished it. Is there any way to get them now at level 115? Can a lower level request the task and any 115 get the fragment as a reward or are these toons just screwed out of completion now? This would also be a great item to put on overseer as long as you don't price them for an absurd amount of Tetradrachms.
Drops off any of the conscripted in the underground city. Also drops off any alarian as well. Not a mob in the underground city wont drop it. In other words every mob save that little pet will drop it.
I just did one of these quests (the one that has you kill in the nature pillar (SW), obtained from the NPC at the NE pillar), and I did NOT get one of these items. Is this supposed to be a guaranteed reward, or you just got lucky with random drops?
Edit: Nevermind, I figured it out. Have to do it in 30 mins or less to get the item. Took me an hour :)
my personal favorite spot to evolve the tears in HoF on my necro is the Alsecht camp about 15 alarans in the nearby area and each is a 2% evolve rate per kill at 4/20 and they drop fragments about 1 in 10 kills sometimes as with anything you can have a stream of bad luck and not find any for awhile anyway hope this advice is useful for someone

I started my adventure leveling my Tear in Erillion, City of Bronze where I had found my first Fragment of Legendary Alaran History. after about 6 levels of this I got a tell talking about how the Arena, in the Underground city of Shard's Landing was a better bet for leveling said Tear. so I packed up my 4 box set up and headed to camp. This place is where its at for leveling this tear!!! Most mobs do not assist one another, and you almost cannot run out of mobs to kill, im currently at 47 Fragments after just 8 days of 2 - 6 hour camping times, at least getting 1 fragment per 100 mobs, and one lucky day I had 5 fragments drop within 15 mins!!!!
here is my set up: I set up camp right in the middle of the arena, 2 rangers to headshot with, shaman, bard, tank merc, cleric merc. im killing on average 100 Alarans per hour and not running out of mobs to kill. Purple skin colored mobs are higher level, give good faction for the zone/missions in zone, and seem to drop more Fragments then the light blue skin colored mobs.
First thing I noticed was I was getting more XP on my tear per kill here than in CoB
The purple skin colored Alarans directly outside of the arena (an arena sentry) have Faction Increases to Forsaken Believers and The Conscripted and Factions Decreased The Believers These mobs are a bit tricky for you cannot throw or shoot a bow at them for whatever reason, so they will need to be melee'ed down, can headshot with your physical spells, I imagine decap and assassinate will still work as well.
I am currently stock pilling my Fragments until I have around 180-200 before I start clicking, my Tear is currently at level 9 / 20 @ 65%
If your plan is to collect about 200 of these..you're going to end up with a bunch leftover..simple math here..1 fragment = 15% tear evolution per tier (which is what I'm getting at level 105)..so at that rate..it would take approx. 133 fragments to evolve a tear from 0 to 20. Save yourself a week of camping mate, with that in consideration..another 30 fragments and you might as well click away because you're done already if u have 47 collected at tier 9.
