Wait a sec...so if killing an orc tells me "Your faction cannot get any worse", then killing more orcs from there on out will not help to raise my faction with the guards??? Please tell me this isn't true, because I could kill one million orcs and I still wouldn't be "threateningly" to guards!

No your faction still gets better with the guards even tho the orcs is max KOS. you can keep killin them :)

Ok so I was in here and I needed to turn in some stuff for my pally epic, when I turn it in I loose the epic stuff and find out I need higher faction. Right now my faction can not get any worse. Does anyone have any ideas how I can raise my faction back up quickly?

Make sure you check the date on this post because I *HOPE* it's not this way for long. But for the information of all trying to raise this faction, be warned:

I was scowled at by the guards and smugglers in HH/HK, proceeded to kill close to 500 orcs/gnolls (including frequent trips to the Shralok orcs in Kith) and turned in over 160 scalps and remained scowled at. Giving up, I went to EK and killed the named Mucktail gnolls and bandits for a couple of hours. Upon returning to HH/HK, I was delighted to learn that I was now looked upon threateningly, which was an improvement. So I killed 5 more orcs, turned in the 8 scalps I had on me, and checked faction again. To my aghastment (if that's even a word), I was at scowls again. All quests point to helping the Highpass Guards faction, as do the mobs I killed, yet after killing five orcs and turning in 8 scalps, my faction standing went DOWN.

Be aware, folks; something is amiss in the Highpass Guards faction.

After killing many guards for FS weapons and pp, I came to realization that the smugglers were in the same faction as the Guards. This, of course, screws up Rogue epic faction. Most others will try to turn in orc scalps when they are KoS, only to find that they are attacked when they get close. Rogues have the sneak/hide advantage, but my insight comes at an issue more significant: the sneak/hide turn-in of scalps (both of orcs and gnolls) must be done when the NPC is in their NORMAL position. For instance, if Guard Ashlain (sp?) leaves his post to kill some wandering orcs, do not try to turn in the scalps using the sneak/hide method until he has returned to his post above the road. Your impatience will result in agro and he will not accept your scalp. After I had stored up 60 orc scalps from 375 orcs, I thought I'd give it a try when he was in his normal post. Hope this helps.

For all those who need this faction raised. I killed 300 high pass orcs and 100 bandits in Lake rathetear. I went from ready to attack to dubiously. It still says dubiously but i can now turn in scalps and goblin ears with no prob.

The scalps and ears are for the freeport militia.

I turned in 10 scalps and 20 ears and am now only threatening to the freeport militia. Only a few more and i should con dubiously to them.

I'm a Teir'Dal shadowknight, and the guards scowl at me, ready to attack. How many gnolls/orcs will I have to kill to improve my faction-standing to apprehensively?
So far, I have killed 40 gnolls without a change in standing; the guards still want my hide (RtA).

I am a level 20 gnome necromancer, i have killed about 50 - 60 orcs and when i got there my faction was threatningly... then i killed the orcs but anywayz.. how many orcs do i have to kill for dubious faction?

I'm a troll SK and it took me about 300-400 kills (started with gnolls switched to orcs but doesn't matter) just to get then to just be "threatening" rather then "ready to attack." Just became threatening last night so I don't know how long it will take me to get out of that range, but at least it finally moved. Don't know if they hate me worse then you, but basically be prepaired to spend a couple of levels killing there.

Since this post was in October I belive that there have been some changes that will give you hope. EQ's faction table has been revamped to alow further increase/decrease of faction. Orcs and gnolls in HHP should still give you faction with the HHP residence and guards. Also note that you dont have to actualy kill any of the above just wack each one or cast a buff on a member of the party doing the actual killin. this way you will get a faction hit for each orc that dies by there hands and Is extreamly fast.
