It turns out there are two different factions called Shik Nar. Or rather, there were, until both of them were renamed.
All the shik nar in Mons Letalis give hits to Shik Nar of Mons Letalis, like so:
Your faction standing with <a Faction="690">Shik Nar of Mons Letalis</a> has been adjusted by -25.
You receive 1 platinum and 1 gold as your split.
You have slain a ShikNar Warrior!
while all the ones in Fungus Grove give hits to Shik Nar of Fungus Grove, like so:
Your faction standing with <a Faction="530">Shik Nar of Fungus Grove</a> could not possibly get any worse.
You gain experience!
You have slain Shik`nar Soldier!

what is the faction with these?, is it apprehensive?

Here is how fast you lose faction:
1 Kill = Apprehensive
5 Kills = Dubious
21 Kills = Threatening
27 Kills = Scowling
This was from killing the level 60 ones, sometimes the lower level ones don't drop your faction as fast, so maybe someone else knows for sure.

Interesting that no one seems to know how to raise faction with these bugs... It's easy to reduce faction: just kill 'em in Mon Letalis. Bad idea because they are ALL over the place, and it's MUCH more profitable to hunt rockhoppers and stonegrabbers. If you get KOS to the Shiknar, you will be spending all your time fighting them off and will spoil an otherwise good hunting zone: since there is no known way to raise faction, that'll be it.
