you may not want to keel the Othmir folks, if you are a druid. Not sure on Rangers. But as for the fact...for the 2.0 epic it will hurt your epic search. You need this Othmir folks to continued on your quest. just FYI>

Yes, the othmir are social. If you attack one, the rest will join in. For this reason, you should have a druid/ranger cast harmony before pulling so that you only get one (or two if some of the harmony was resisted).

I don't know the exact ratio of walrii needed to balance/offset othmir faction. But, a friend of mine said he had to kill about five times as many walrii/ulthork as othmir to get back to the same faction standing. This seems to stick to the pattern that verant uses for faction (5 point of worse faction for every 1 point of better faction). So, I think 5X sounds like a reasonable ratio.

I haven't started killing the overgrown rats, err othmir, yet. But what I plan on doing is having the group cast and melee on them till they get down to about 15 or 20 percent. Then have enchanter mem blur. Then only melee kill it off and casters just med. This way, only the melee will take the faction hit. Then casters don't have to work as hard to get their faction back.

If you plan on doing any hunting in CS, you will want to be in good standing with these guys, as the ShellfishCollector seems to wander all over the zone and could make for an unpleasent add if you're in the middle of a close fight already. He hits for well over 100.

In addition to them not liking wolf form, they equally dislike werewolf form. So, enchanters, no casting Boon in CS. I suspect that after killing enough walrii, that you could safely appear as a wolf/werewolf, but I haven't killed enough to be able to test that theory yet.

If someone running ShowEQ (hiss boo hiss) could check the faction points for killing a walrus and the various man-o-wars to verify my 5:1 ratio, I would appreciate it, even though I'd have to frown upon you for using such an evil and sneaky program as that ;)

ok, this is weird. I've faught about 30 ulthorks in my life. My faction standing with coldain was aprehensive(yes I did need to work on that). FOR SOME REASON, I threateningly to dorfs now. I don't know what happened.....

If you practise Bakery, then you will want to be these guys friends, because the shamans along the waterfront sell very rare cooking ingredients, resulting in +3 MR food if I recall.

However, we learned one important lesson: Othmir do NOT like Druid Wolf-form. Our druid cast the group-wolf spell, fortunately two of us were out of range, because the entire othmir camp sprang out and *obliterated* the two others who became wolfs. I guess the otters are as tired of hearing the wolf-baying as the rest of us are.

You can also kill ulthork warriors, man o wars, and walruses to raise the faction.
