Just got dain head tonight and was told it only takes about 8 faction hits from dain to raise it enough for turn in, any truth to that?

Missed tonights hit due to death =(

Killing the dorfs and wolfs in GD works for kromrif faction(dont forget to collect as many coldain heads as possible). Once you get to dubious to kromrif switch up and go to Skyshrine for Kromzek faction hits. Once dubious to Kromzek turn in all the heads you have to Captain for Tormax hits. I was max ally to coldain and max kos to kromrif and kromzek when I started. In less than a week I am now max ally with kromrif, warmly to kromzek. One more round of head camping and I should be in good with Tormax. So it takes about a week to fix.

Lots of dwarves to kill
# Aug 20 2003 at 8:43 AM Rating: Decent

I was max KOS to giants and now I got the head drop from Yelinak. I've killed dwarves for 3 days now in the mines of GD. Was ally to coldain and now scowling.. still scowling to giants as well. I just save the heads and by the time I am Dubious and can do the Bvellos quest, I will have almost enough heads needed to get the rest. The faction hit on guards in Icewall is much larger but it is not easy to find other people to group with that are willing to lose Coldain faction. I have well over 100 heads now and hopefully will be able to turn in soon. For those of you looking for an idea about a time frame I estamate to have killed nearly 1000 dwarves in the mines and still KoS to giants. I also used to do Vindi raids though =/

I killed about 500 dorfs and wolves in GD and was still Scowl to Kromzek, Kromrif, and Tormax. Then I moved to Skyshrine and killed 500 dragons on the first floor and that got me to dubious to Kromzek but still Scowl to Kromrif and Tormax. Then I handed in 50 heads to Captain Bvellos and I became ally to Kromzek but still Scowl to Kromrif and Tormax.

This information is from other posts but I thought I would cross post it here.

Generic Faction Levels
-2000 to -751 ...scowls at you, ready to attack
-750 to -501 ...glares at you threateningly
-500 to -101 ...glowers at you dubiously
-100 to -1 ...looks your way apprehensively
0 to 99 ...regards you indifferently
100 to 499 ...judges you amiably
500 to 749 ...kindly considers you
750 to 1099 ...looks upon you warmly
1100 to ~2000 ...Ally faction

Faction hits for Bvellos Bounty Quest
+10 Kromrif
+10 King Tormax
+50 Kromzek
-20/-25 ClawsOfVeeshan

If you get good Kromzek faction, you can do several other quests that will raise your Tormax faction.

Supply Run (this may also require good kromrif faction).

+Kromrif (5 points) & +Kromzek (5 points) when handing the pack to Fjloaren
+King Tormax (2 points) for the second part of the quest.

Field Supplies also seems to be a good faction quest but no info on how big the faction hits are.

With all this said, you can get good Tormax faction hits by killing some of the mobs in Icewell Keep (the ones in the throne room and a few others) but I have no idea how big the faction hit is (I get conflicting reports) but everyone seems to think that Yelinak/DAIN/Velketor all have HUGE Tormax Faction hits so tag along on these raids if you can (noone ever raids these targets anymore so unless I can get a group pf alts together to raid Velketor or DAIN (Yelinak is a HUGE PITA to raid and in all the time I have spent in skyshrine, I have not seen a single raid on Yelinak). All in all, the best way to grind out faction seems to be handing in Coldain Heads to Captain Bvellos and perhaps the Field Supplies to the mercenaries.

Killing the dwarves in Thurg give better giant faction than the dwarves in the GD mines, but very rarely drops heads. Only seen 1 out of 100. The row of archers inside Thurg and to the left was a good spot since you can kill one right after another.

In East Wastes at the Giant area near where people hunt Ulthork there are some ogre merceneries and when you kill them you also lose faction with King Tormax.

Originally I bottomed out my Giant faction for Dwarf quest armor. Now I'm trying to switch back. Been killing dwarves for about 15 hours played time on a 54 ogre warrior that can make a kill on average ever 40-60 seconds... you do the math.
Been bottomed out with Dwarves for 4 played hours now and acumulated 80ish heads but I'm still ready to attack with giants(all).
Any ideas on how many more kills we're talking about.

I know I am replying to an old post but if you hand in those head to bvellos (use invis) you will get to max ally kromzek pretty quick. Kromrif take a little longer. I have over 500 dorf/wolf kills and handed in over 50 heads and I just got threatening recently.

If a load of people are fighting Dain, and you just run into Icewell Keep, hit Dain once, then run of the tower, and don't zone until he's dead, then you should get the faction hit.

Pretty sure there's no Tormax giants outside of Kael, but not 100 percent.

Kromrif--most common type of Giant and are abundant all over Velious (save the harder zones). There are many in Kael and are mostly found along the main route from EW to WL.

Kromzek--2nd most common type of Giant, pretty much only found in Kael, but a few are found outside (WL for example). They start to appear in Kael near the bank area, and are very prominent past there in either direction (WL, King area, Temple area). These are also the Kael armor quest NPC's, but unless you're really sly, you still need Tormax faction to slip by to where they are (seen a bard slip by and get a pair of greaves while kos to tormax, but got killed on way back out =)

Tormax--Only a good handful of Giants are on Tormax, and are found in King area (duh =P). There may be more in Temple area, but to be honest I haven't really been in there as that place gives me the heebie geebies.

Anywho, so to answer your question, the best NPC I found to check your Tormax faction safely is an NPC called Dlammaz Stormslayer. He can be found in a small room past the ice bridge on the left side, right before you get to King area. What I would do is to get right near the ice bridge and there's a flag hanging just to the left of it. Get under the flag, and you can then target and con Dlammaz from a safe distance through a large window in the room. He is wearing the Gold Plate. Once you're dubious, you're in!!! This also requires you to be non-kos to Zek and *perhaps* to the Rif. Which brings a good point...if you're kos to them, what's the point in checking Tormax faction?

1 more slice of info, I never once took a negative faction hit with Tormax, and it took me about 25-30 heads to Bvellos to become dubious to Tormax and his flunkies.

Temple of Rallos Zek Faction

I have raised faction for KingTormax to threatening, and the NPCs in temple (Derakor the Vindicator for one) still scrowl. I think the ones in the temple are perma KOS based on the fact the NPC mentions nobody (not even other giants) are allowed past that point into the temple, and they are not on any of the three known giant factions.

# Feb 02 2001 at 11:39 AM Rating: Default
to get the threatening from srowls is verry easy !! you need only 10/20 faction hits . i got indifferent now and it was a verry hard work (300 or more hits) . and the guys from rallos zek temple still scrowls :-( . dunno why . maybe its harder to get the faction raises there (hope its king tormax).
i'll try to get warmly with king and then i'll look again what rallos zek guys say .

raising KingTormax

I hear that one of the best places to raise KingTormax faction is Icewell Keep, the royal guardsmen and Dain Frostreaver himself all give steep boosts to the tormax faction while decreasing coldain and dainFrostreaverIV factions. One question is, does increasing this faction help at all with the scowlers in the Temple of Rallos Zek?

The Dain in icewell is such an awesome dent...too much to be called a hit, its a dent. Well I was scowling to tormax faction before getting the Dain dent, and now I am Kindly! What a massive hit, hehe.

Wait till the dain goes to bed (or some uberguild kills him), go to the third floor - bundle a side room. Then pull royal guards.

Or quest - Tomax does not care about his subjects you can keep everyone except a few dull witted giants happy with you by questing for tomax and killing giants - to restore your CoV faction.

Not many ways to get the Zek lot to like you - obscure quests for rare drops I think is the only way.

Well, we're usually pulling from the second floor with 2 groups lvl 50-60 and it's DAMN hard. Dain is on the third floor...
