I've read all the previous posts.....

I'm a gnome Shadow Knight, with Big B as my god. So I started out on apprehensive, and of corse when i got to higher lvls i hunted there alot and the cliff golem was my buddy.

The, yesterday I'm invited to a Howling Stones group, i get keyed and go in. While we're killing things i ask if this will mess up my fac with the OT guys, they say no, and after everything i kill i check to see if they were right.

I didn't see anything indicating that my fac was going down, but when i get out i almost get killed when i run into my buddie (the golem) i run, and now I'm very very sad, and looking for a way to get good with them again.

Its been awhile since the last post here, so I'll tell my own faction story for Cabilis.

My toon is a gnome shadowknight who worships Bertoxxulous. He was scowls to all the iksar around the entrance complex in front of the Cabilis zone-in in Field of Bone. He had not done any killing or questing that would have changed any Cabilis factions, so he began with at-start faction levels. I knew I would have to eventually do the bone chip quest with Trooper Mozo because it gains faction with five of the six Cabilis factions, but I didn't want to do the hide-behind game with Mozo, nor pay for illusion potions (assuming illusion would work)...I wanted to be at least non-kos with him. So I began by killing goblins in their fort in Warsliks Woods (they give Legion of Cabilis faction). This was easy since my toon was around level 55 at the time. After killing 300 goblins (along with some of the named there), Mozo conned threateningly. After another 300, Mozo and the other Troopers were dubious, so my toon probably started out about one or two hundred points into scowls, and each goblin death was probably worth one faction point.

After this, I did both bone chip turn-ins plus I camped the Forsaken area in the Forsaken cave at the beach. Killing Forsakens gives faction points for Brood of Kotiz ( Cabilis Necros) and Legion of Cabilis. After killing 725 Forsakens and doing 800 bone chip turn-ins, I was maxed with Legion of Cabilis (warmly), indiff with Scaled Mystics (Cabilis shaman), dubious with Crusader Quarg (who is probably both Legion and Scaled Mystic dubious with Crusader Bodi (who is probably both Legion and Crusader of Greenmist)and dubious with the merchants at the entrance area.

After another 200 bone chip turn-ins, Quarg became indiff and that is where I am now. I'll probably continue bone chipping just to see how far I can go.

Note that a bone chip turn-in consists of giving four unstacked bone chips to Mozo. You can't speed things up by stacking. And since you will probably be KOS with Crusaders Bodi and Quarg (they patrol the zone-in area) for awhile, you might be able to avoid their agro by doing the turn-ins from as far away as possible, towards the corner that Mozo stands guard at. Try to hug the wall so that you are not within eyesight of Bodi and Quarg when they leave the zone-in area and go out to patrol. Try to do your turn-ins so that your field of view looks out towards their patrol area, so you can see them coming back and so know when to run away. Beware of their speed, they seem to have sow power.

As posted elsewhere, Mozo will occassionaly turn in place and look at you. This change in facing is not related to your turn-ins, instead it appears to be random. So be ready for this if you are KOS to him and using the hide-behind method.

I didn't do alot of faction-checking during all this cause I knew everything was going to be measured in the hundreds, however, here is some info that might help you do so:

Legion of Cabilis - Cabilis guards and warriors - con Trooper Mozo or any other regular guard.

Cabilis Residents - Cabilis merchants, etc - hard to say who to con. This faction is a mystery...a good number of merchants seem to be on other factions, yet there seem to be two merchant factions as well. Con Pagnar Vyng in East Cabilis just past FoB entrance area for one faction branch, and the merchants that are at the entrance area in FoB for the other. The bankers are the same branch as the FoB merchants. Fortunately, you can bank at dubious although you cannot buy or sell.

Crusaders of Greenmist - Cabilis shadowknights - con Crusader Bodi.

Brood of Kotix - Cabilis necros - iksar necros in West Cabilis at the necro guild area.

Scaled Mystics - Cabilis shaman - con Oracle Qulin (he is at the beach near the cliff entrance/gorge) or Crusader Quarg.

I never bothered to check any other mobs.

I hope this helps you. Good luck.

--------------------------------------------------

Have done another 200 bone chip turn-ins, and read nytmare's reply to my post. I verified most of my own findings with what he said, and I have edited my post to reflect where he has corrected me ( thanks nytmare 8-) ).

Present cons (most of them done by conning the approprate GMs in Cabilis) are as follows:

Cabilis Residents - indiff to Pagnar Vyng and dubious to FoB merchants.

Scaled Mystics - amiable.

Crusaders of Greenmist - apprehensive.

Brood of Kotix - dubious.

Swift Tails - amiable.

Legion of Cabilis - still maxed at warmly.

--------------------------------------------------

My grand total is now 600 goblins killed, 1266 Forsakens killed and 1600 bone chip turn-ins (thats 6400 bone chips).

Cabilis Residents - indiff to Pagnar Vyng and dubious to FoB merchants (these guys are beginning to annoy me).

Scaled Mystics - kindly.

Crusaders of Greenmist - amiable.

Brood of Kotix - amiable.

Swift Tails - kindly.

Legion of Cabilis - still maxed at warmly.

I suspect that whereas a bone chip turn-in is seemingly worth 1 faction point, its only worth 1/2 point to the FoB merchant branch.

--------------------------------------------------

After yet another 200 bone chip turn-ins, the FoB merchants are now finally apprehensive to my sk gnome....he can buy/sell from them. He is also in the process of doing the khukri crawl for greenmist so that has added a few faction points to Crusaders of Greenmist.

All the crusaders are on Crusaders of Greenmist EXCEPT for Crusader Quarg who is on Scaled Mystics faction.

Iksars penalize you 1000 faction points if your race is not Iksar (putting you straight into "ready to attack" territory unless you do faction work). Iksar illusion will correct for this penalty. But they penalize you another 1000 faction points if your religion is good; they really prefer agnostic or evil religions.

So how long do I need to be killing Sarnaks before the Legion recognizes me as one of their own? I'm a barb shaman and have been slaying the little buggers 4-3v3|2.

Also, are Sarnaks the fastest way to better faction or do gobbies make it go up faster. I don't feel like spending 16 hours in LOIO just to get my faction up to doubiously.

thanks for any help you may give!

Just a not that may be really important if you want to enter Cabilis: don't forget that having a good faction with the Legion of Cabilis won't be enough!
Merchants are not members of the Legion, they are Cabilis Residents.
You will also have to raise your faction with the Brood of Kotiz.

The Residents are the merchants, the Legion are the warriors and the Brood are the necromancers and shadowknights.

I think they are the only (!) three factions you will have to raise to enter Cabilis, but I wouldn't bet my life on it ;)

The easiest way to raise both Legion and Brood faction is by killing iksars from the Forsaken...

Hope this can help and avoid some deaths!

just a quick note on the previous post. Iksar shadowknights aren't on Brood faction; they're on Crusaders of Greenmist faction.

Faction To Hight with the Legion of Cabilis

Before I got a uderstanding of Factions I was killing Sarnaks and Gobbs. I now /con to the Troopers as indifferently. From my undstanding this is to Hight to start the bone chip quest.
My question is What do I kill to lower them? I'm
only a lvl 25 shaman. So they need to be something I can kill.

You can do the bone chip quest. You just need to be Dubious or above to the Troopers (which you are) or else sneak up behind them (which Shamans can't do unless they're Vah Shir). Give it a go, but remember to make sure that nobody else is around, as you may be KoS to them - and remember that your religion may make it impossible to become non-KOS with some Cabilis factions.

A warning to sneakers, lately when I've been turning in Bone Chips, Trooper Mozo have sometimes turned around, which can be a nasty surprise. He seem to turn around on a regular basis, not because of handing in Bone Chips.

Well it is possible to start out as young as lvl 1, but its gonna be very risky to run all the way from Overthere (after getting a bind) to the Field Of Bone. If u survive, then comes the next big step. Kill all the iksar footpads that u see (they give faction with the Legion Of Cabilis & Brood Of Kotiz which is necro faction) and once yr lvl 9 or so, its time to take on the bandits. Once yr high enuff (13-15 I think), u can venture to the bandit cave and kill the marauders and manslayers (kinda tricky and u might need a grp). Watch out for Kerosh Blackhand tho ; he's a mean ****** (lvl 30ish spawn) Con the guards periodically and once u con dubious to em, its time to head to Kurns and gather bone chips. Turn em in 4 at a time to Mozo. Be prepared for a long haul but I guess it pays off leveling and gaining faction at the same time... However remember this...You are on your own...Yr in Iksar territory now and don't expect the guards to help u when u got a train on yr @$$...That being said, I wish u all good luck =)
Trooper Mozo?

I've heard u can turn Bone Chips into Trooper Mozo in the field of Bone and get Faction increases--so just 2 questions--1st will he KOS you my troll shaman--I've been killin Sarnaks fer at least 5-6 levels and I think Im still KOs at cabilis.
second, HOW long does it take to become Un-Kos there for a troll shaman--or how long did it take for you?

OK - i have read this stuff on sarnaks. Im an erudite mage and am now Amiable in the outpost in Overthere cause of killing lots of sarnaks. What I want to know is this......will I be KOS to the guards in cabilis? From some of these posts it doesnt look like it - from some others it seems that I will be OK to some guards and not others.

Can I get a clarification on this please?

I doubt that you will have raised faction with the legion. Even if you did, you can still be attacked because there is more faction that needs to be raised than just the guards.. remember the merchants can try to kill you too, and that will agro all the guards as well. Never trust anybody... Con everything

I managed to get non-kos to crusaders today via bone chips quest on my de necro. For some strange reason crusader quarg always coned one level more favorably just a little quicker than any other crusader.. very strange.

I had killed sarnaks til dubious. Began working on faction via the bone chip quest and troopers were amiable before crusaders were threatening. The bone chip quest moves crusader faction very little. No doubt I've turned in a few thousand bone chips. I lost count of how many full backpacks I turned in... many many. maybe 40 packs? At the moment, my de necro's factions are:

legion of cabilis: kindly (higher than my iksar's heh)
crusaders of greenmist: dubious (finally - and crusader quarg is apprehensive)
swifttails: apprehensive (I can buy/sell from 1 npc in the monk guild)
merchants/residents: dubious (so still no banking yet)
scaled mystics: dubious
brood of kotiz: scowling

So my cabilis necro faction (brood of kotiz) I still need to work on, since there are no quests that move this faction that I've seen. Unfortunately there are 3 npcs on this faction in West Cabilis (bank zone), or I'd just avoid them. Two of them right next to the bank.. outside and to the right if you're facing the bank - near 2 kloks. The Haggle Barron is also on that faction. Brood of Kotiz faction, as you could look up yourself on this site, can be improved by killing a few different iksar mobs.

Whew.. theres some info for ya hope it helps.

Guards from Cabilis
# Aug 29 2000 at 3:44 AM Rating: Good
The guards from cabilis come in two flavors, the 'Troopers' and the 'Crusaders.' The Troopers ARE the 'Legion of Cabilis' I know this from killing enough evil iksars, sarnaks and goblins to become warmly to them. The Crusaders appear to be Crusaders of Greenmist but I am wondering about this because I have done the bone chips quest with over a thousand chips and am still ready to attack to the crusaders. For some reason the bone chips quest has stopped giving me faction and I'm still KoS to the crusaders, not to mention the klok merchants in and outside Cabilis won't sell to me unless I sneak/hide as I am dubious to them.

Last point: there are 2 brood factions, one is the nercos in Cabilis and one is part of the Sarnaks; as stated in the descriptions for both of those factions here.

The guards that were scowling at Beltath were probably Crusaders. They are on a separate faction from the Legion Troopers.

The Mozo Bonechip quest is the only way to up the other Cabilis factions, I think....

I think there are two Broods. Brood of Dikoz and Brood of Kotiz. One is the necros, one is a type of Sarnak.
Legion faction
# Jul 06 2000 at 2:58 PM Rating: Default
I maxed out my faction from Sarnaks for the Legion of Cabilis, recently. Killing Sarnaks in Lake of Ill Omen results in neg. Sarnak and some Brood, and pos. for the Legion. However, before I started on Sarnaks my faction was scowling with troopers in Cabilis (I'm a High Elf), now, after maxing it out with Sarnaks, the Troopes glare at me.
I assumed the Legion was the guards in Cabilis, apparently it's not, as the guards must be this Brood. I think the Brood faction is also the bad faction hit you take when you kill an Iksar maruader as well.

I killed nothing in between as I was spending time in the Hole when I wasn't working on faction.
