What faction are North Freeport Merchants on?

If you are wondering about faction with merchants, you can go speak with Janam and Rebby, next to the monk guild(in West Freeport). It's basically taking 2 letters from the rogues in East FP and giving them to Janam and Rebby(then take what Janam and Rebby gives you back to the Rogues).

I did this quest 10 times with my Dark Elf necro and I went from Dubious to Amiable with all merchants in East, West and North FP.

The quest raises several factions with no faction hits on other factions.

Most are on "Coalition of Tradefolk" faction. Some may be on "Coalition of Tradefolk Illegal" faction - certainly some in EFP and EC are.

Prisoner below freeport
# Jan 13 2002 at 12:56 AM Rating: Decent
I am 100% positive that when I killed a prisoner in the jail below freeport my faction with the common residents went down....

I did it twice....The first time, I was able to kill enough orc pawns to recover from the pagan status(ignored or yelled at upon hail) but the second time i have not recovered.

I am now level 35 and i just got done killing orc 1 and orc 2 along with 50 orc pawns....Still, the common residents think I am a Pagan!

Although, I can not figure out why I am not KOS in the outpost in the Overthere when 90% of the character I group with are....I think the prisoner had something to do with it....

Killing the prisoner instantly made me an evil character!

well I have done a little rouge quest that is working on my millita faction this will make it so you can move around.

http://eqdb.allakhazam.com/quest.html?quest=613
and
http://eqdb.allakhazam.com/quest.html?quest=612

These do not have any bad hits but will raise your millitia faction this one in HH will do so as well

http://eqdb.allakhazam.com/quest.html?quest=434

but I am still trying to find one for merchants. They may be the merchants of qeynos or a tradefolk one but I am not sure the first two quest will help with both of these as well.
Prisoners
# Sep 27 2001 at 12:43 AM Rating: Default
I was dumb enough to kill two prisoners in the jail below west freeport twice. I realize now that both time my faction with the Common Residents was lowered. The second time has shown to be extremly worse. In fact, I think they want to kill me. the first time it took 100 orcs to fix. Soon after killing the second prisoner I had realized what it was. Don't make my mistake.
I am not even sure if I can fix this one. Is there a two strikes your out rule?

I have done the rogue quest many many times also 15 times with my DE SK and I am able to go into NFP with ease accept for Zigg Flin... stay away from him, he will still kill you even though you can buy and sell in NFP after you complete the quest. Best of luck to you all : )

Not only that, he still aggroes on me even i am more than 20lvls higher. I have to go invis to avoid him everytime i want to bank, anyway when you are done with your banking it doesnt matter, just zone if he aggroes on you.
Faction with other merchants?
# Aug 08 2001 at 2:16 PM Rating: Default
From what I've read and experimented, the Innkeepers are on the CommonsResidents faction, pointing to the only conclusion I've been able to come upon that the other merchants are on a different faction. Is this true? If so, do anyone know what faction it is and how to raise it? Hate to miss out on such a good fletching ground :)

Probably "Coalition of Tradefolk" and/or "Coalition of Tradefolk Illegal". These are the Freeport merchant factions. I'm not 100% sure, though.

oops, hit wrong button.
killing what in Oasis or Nro lowers faction with the commons residents? I notice also that it says that the faction with guards would be lowered by killing in Oasis and Nro. is there anything you can safely kill in ether zone and not lower faction?

The innkeepers are the NPCs in Nro and Oasis that will lower Commons Residents faction, I'm pretty sure. The Orcs in Nro (possibly Oasis too) have been moved from "Orc" faction to "Deathfist Orc" faction and now give the same faction hits as the Orcs in EC/WC/Nektulos. Other than those, I don't think anything else in those zones affects this faction. There are FP Militia guards in Nro, but I don't think killing them affects Commons Residents faction (it's been a while since I killed any of the evil FP Militia so I may be wrong here).
Faction effects in Neriak?
# Jul 01 2001 at 3:20 AM Rating: Decent
I'm curious if anyone here, in building their Freeport/Commons factions, has noticed any bad faction effects in their home city of Neriak?

My agnostic DE enchantress is between glowering and apprehensive to all FP and commons factions now, but she's also glowering to the fellow who stands outside the casters' guild in Neriak Commons, and there's at least a couple of people in Neriak 3rd Gate that she didn't start off being KOS to and is now.

Along the same lines, my DE wizzie, a lady of the Burning Prince, is bordering already on KOS status in portions of Neriak Commons and 3rd Gate, yet I've done little beyond killing bandits in the Karanas and orcs in the commons.
RE: Faction effects in Neriak?

There are a few different factions in Neriak, and are affected by class, race or religion or all. However there's a catch, there are some guards that go by the faction of class guilds, and some named ones in 3rd Gate such as "Indigo Brotherhood" & "Ghouls of Neriak" As a knight of Innoruuk(SK), I have already given my heart to him and will "con" to the Neriak factions differently than an agnostic, (traiterous freelancer:P).

There is a quest in Neriak cheap and easy (imo broken) to raise faction with three Neriak Factions;
1 Dread Guards Outer
2 Dread Guards Inner, &
3 Dark Bargainers (Merchants, Includes the three merchants in south ro.)

The quest is named "Bottle of Red Wine"
http://eqdb.allakhazam.com/quest.html?quest=159
For approx 20plat and some time I now con "ally"
to all three factions.

A way to get batter faction with the fighters guild (The Indgo Brotherhood) is to kill the poncy lightskin Elves in Timerous Deep, (a source of elven blood, rarely camped) though it does hurt your faction with those treehugging crowds.
There are many way to raise the "Indigo Brotherhood" Faction

I have built faction with E&W FP with DF Belts (which will reduce some N FP factions) and have noticed no detriment to my Neriak factions, but I haven't been slaying the bandits in Karana's.

I hope this may help you regain some faction in Neriak, I suppose even us Holy Knights of Innoruuk need to help our crack dealers:)

Freeport Factions
# May 24 2001 at 5:44 AM Rating: Default
I killed about 200 orcs or so collecting belts to help out different people and I am now amiable to the Paladins in North Freeport. This is great as I am Dark Elf SK. I'm not sure when within that 200 or so I reached this status. I can also buy from all innkeepers in the commonlands but not the other merchants. Hope this helps anyone.

You can raise this faction by killing _any_ orcs in East or West Commonlands, as well as the ones in the East and West Freeport newbie areas. ( I believe killing orcs in Northern Desert of Ro will also raise this faction, but I don't remember for sure.)

This faction only affects some of the merchants in East and West Commonlands, as well as some in the Northern Desert of Ro. In general, the ones affected are the center merchants at each of the inns.

So if you've killed some orcs, check prices with different merchants when you have valuable loot (such as a cracked staff) to sell: the center merchants in the inns will usually give you a better price because of your improved faction.

The orcs in nro, like the ones in the oasis, are just faction "orc" and killing them only has the effect of lowering that faction.

I believe that commons residents also effects the bulk of the merchants in freeport who are not under another faction. Im testing this now with my dark elf who is glower from all of them except coalition of tradesfolk who are the merchants in the "bad" freeport militia bar who are tied to the militia faction.

I'm thinking this since my druid wood elf is kindly to tons of merchants but no quest raises "freeport merchants.. or merchants of freeport" - no such faction. She is only apprehensive to the coalitiion of tradesfolk in that one bar from finally getting militia to apprehensive from glower on a couple quests.

So my dark elf is killing lots of pawns and orcs like crazy to see if all go up to apprehensive at once.

The merchants of Freeport are mostly under "Coalition of Tradefolk" faction, but some of them are "Coalition of Tradefolk Illegal" faction. I believe that this also applies to the merchants in EC who are not under "Commons Residents" faction, like the non-Innkeeper vendors in the inns. I don't think anyone in FP is under the "Commons Residents" faction, although I could be wrong - factions can be quite surprising at times.

Yep found more out about this now. She got to kindly with the coalition of tradesfolk and tradesfolk II from jenny and rebby.

All merchants in freep are on that who are not on something like bard (at bard guild) or monk at monk guild.

She has no glower dubious merchants in freep now.

In the commons she has some merchants who con the same as freep merchants, kindly, then some who are glower dubious. I'm guessing the dubious ones are on "commons residents?"

She has killed a ton more orcs but is still dubious to these, but is now amiable when she uses the one use halfling form mask from innoruk innitiate quest line (dark elf cleric of inny)

I'm in the process of working my faction up in and around Freeport with my Dark Elf Cleric.

I started dubious with all of the merchants in Freeport (East, West) and the commonlands and NRO.

I did the deliver the notes quests from the rogues guild in East Freeport 21 times. He is now AMIABLE to every merchant I conned in East and West Freeport. I am still dubious to the merchants in the commonlands.

As a side note, I am dubios to the two caster guards in front of The Academy. Not sure if I started that way or not. I've always avoided the place since a DE Necro died in front of the place.

I'm also still dubious to the guards in and around Freeport (East, West). Haven't gotten brave enough yet to poke my nose into North Freeport.

I'll keep everyone posted on my progress.
