Deepwater Knights

Followers of the Oceanlord Prexus, The Deepwater Knights are led by the Paladin Weligon Steelherder and the Cleric Gans Paust. For the Knights, swimming is a manditory skill, as many of their quests lead them beneath the waves. These Knights are allied with the High Council of Erudin and oppose the Heretics who live in Paineel now.

Guard Captain Letori gave me a + 10 modifier to deepwater knights.

However, after killing a guy in the cleric guild in paineel named atdehim sqonci, I got a +1000 deepwater knight faction modification. Nice.

2 kills of Atdehim Sqonci and one round of guards and I was max ally :) Thank you so much for this tip! You saved my paladin hours of faction work!

Quick raise to DWK Faction
# Mar 29 2013 at 6:18 PM Rating: Decent
I went from wherever I was at to max ally by killing "Guard Captain Latorl". I found him near the back part of paineel, near the Cleric guild. Easily solo'ed at 70 with defiant gear, 300+ AA's as pally. Fought all the guards in Paineel on the way back since they were KoS anyway. Just got in with a lockpicker. Was possibly a huge faction hit, and quick way to raise faction if you're a high enough level

pulling guard trains, the bigger the better will get you ally in no time. I'd say it took me 20 minutes to go from apprehensive to ally. Hardest part was getting someone to pick the lock.

Raiding Paineel for Faction
# Apr 05 2012 at 9:37 PM Rating: Good
The list of NPCs you can kill to raise the faction could be absolutely insanely long. I had a Rogue friend pick the lock into Paineel, so I ran inside and started raidin the whole city and killing almost every NPC there (aside from merchants and class guildmasters), and they all give the same faction hits as most mobs.

I don't know how much faction I'm getting with Deepwater Knights, but I sure am killing a lot of NPCs...

To Repair Heretics hits.
# Jun 30 2008 at 3:43 PM Rating: Decent
After killing the 3 mentioned npcs, it takes 45 dead Kobolds to repair the loss in faction you suffer with Heretics. So, apparently you lose 15 points Heretic faction for each npc killed. So, if you collect the 15 canines as suggested, you will probably kill enough kobolds to end up with very little overall loss in heretic faction.

I am a 61 human paladin, got my bard to unlock Paineel's door and both of us are inside Paineel killing the NPC's and guards. Deepwater Knights faction improving on every kill and not taking long at all.

My thanks to other posters here who identified this cycle. Here are quick easy instructions for boosting your DW faction:

First of all - DON'T mess with the kobold molars. You will spend much less time using this method:

Kill Noclin Saah and Elial Brook repeatedly

1. Zone into Toxxulia Forest using the Paineel stone from PoK.
2. Enter Paineel - stay to your left as you come through the tunnels at the entrance. You will come to an open grassy newbie area.
3. Kill Noclin Saah (1000, 150) - She will be to your left as you enter the newbie area. Mark this location on your map if necessary.
4. Run back to Toxxulia and find Elial Brook (150, 1150) just north of the confluence of a small river and a larger body of water.
5. Kill Elial Brook.
6. Back to Paineel, kill Saah, kill Brook, etc.

Both mobs are on a 6 min. timer. You can kill them both in under 5 min and will wait about 1 min for the next spawn.

Check your faction:
1. Zone into Erudin coming from the North end of Toxxulia.
2. As you enter Erudin, the pally guild is the second building on your right. It's blue and says "Deepwater" in big letters. =) Con the pally GM just inside.

I raised my faction from indifferent to:

Amiable - after 10 cycles
Kindly - 15 cycles
Warmly - 20 cycles
Ally - 25 cycles.

10 cycles = about 60 minutes, so you can get to ally in 2.5 hours approx.

Did this the other day in a few hours, basically using the strategy that xpanmanx posted, except I got a little bored collecting kobold teeth, so each time I killed off Noclin Saah, I would slay one of the guards standing there, who conned green at 70. They're undead so you should be able to do some decent damage on them. Being a 70 paladin with Slay Undead it still took like 5 minutes to kill each guard but after they died Noclin would be back up. They also spawn instantly after they're vanquished. Dunno if this is faster than turning in molars, but it kept me busy and I still went from dubious to warmly in a few hours.
Building Deepwater Knights Faction
# Jul 27 2005 at 1:30 PM Rating: Decent
Gretha Vangrath of The Rathe clued me into a cycle that took my Deepwater Knights faction from apprehensive to ally in about 2 hours. I imagine that any Paladin of 55 or over could achieve similarly speedy results.

Here's the secret recipe:

Kill Kobolds in the Warrens (level 2 through 24), grabbing all of the Kobold Molars that drop. When you've collected a dozen to 15 teeth, head out to Erudin (you'll be really glad if you have JBoots, TBoots, Run3, SoW potions or the holy pony).

As you pass through the Paineel newbie area, kill Noclin Saah (level 15, +15 to Deepwater Knights faction), whom stands to the right of the tunnel which leads out of the newbie area.

Then, just inside the tunnel, open the door in the South wall, run up the stairs, and kill Azzar Habbib (level 25, +10 to Deepwater Knights faction) at the top of the stairs.

Do not attack Duriek Bloodpool (level 55), the SK Epic 1.0 mob whom stands close to Habbib. Bloodpool is an Epic 1.0 hand-in mob and as such is very difficult to kill, and besides, he doesn't generate Deepwater Knights faction. He'll leave you alone if you leave him alone - he's non-social and will not assist Habbib. FYI, if Bloodpool is not up, it means that an SK has recently done a hand-in for his Epic 1.0 - the hand-in script kills Bloodpool.

Run out to Toxxulia Forest, and head North-west out of the Paineel zone-in. Just North of the little dock around 0,1000 you'll find Elial Brook (level 7, +20 to Deepwater Knights faction). Kill him dead.

Continue running, but now head North-east to the Erudin zone-in. Avoid a nasty suprise by conning the guards before you approach the tunnel.

Inside Erudin, run to the teleport pad and hop on. When you pop out, run to the stairs. Go up and enter the 2nd building on the right. This is the Erudin Paladin and Cleric guild, home of the Deepwater Knights. Go inside, make your way to the back of the main room, go out the door, turn right, and you'll find Tiam Khonsir waiting patiently for your Kobold Molar hand-in.

Con Tiam Khonsir (level 61). You must have at least dubious Deepwater Knights faction to do molar hand-ins. If he's scowling or threatening you'd best leave and go kill Elial Brook many many many more times before giving up your precious molars to Khonsir.

If you're dubious or better, hand Khonsir those Kobold Molars, one at a time, for +1 Deepwater Knights faction, some other faction adjustments, a little cash, and an occasional piece of newbie gear. Con him after you've handed in all your molars.

(Curiously enough, between the Kobold loot and the rewards from Khonsir, I made well over a kiloplat in the 2 hours I spent on this excercise. Sure, sure, it was in copper, silver and gold, and I was extremely encumbered towards the end, but there are banks in Erudin and Knowledge for this sort of thing.)

If you're not yet ally to the Deepwater Knights, run back out to Toxxulia Forest, kill Elial Brook again - he'll be waiting for you because he's on a 6-minute spawn timer! Then run to the Paineel newbie area and kill Noclin Saah, who is on a 6-minute timer as well. But Azzar Habib won't respawn for 30 minutes - so unless you've been really slow on your round-trip to Tiam Khonsir in Erudin, Habib won't be there for you to kill.

Back into the Warrens. Kill more doggies, get more molars. Head back to Erudin once you've got another dozen to 15 teeth. Don't worry about grabbing more than 15 teeth per trip. You need to get back out into the world regularly to catch the higher-faction spawns in Paineel and Toxxulia Forest.

Kill Noclin Saah, he'll be waiting for you. Kill Azzar Habib if he's up. Kill Elial Brook, he'll be waiting for you. Con Tiam Khonsir. Hand in your molars. Con Tiam Khonsir, hand him your doggie teeth, one at a time, and con him again after giving him all of the Kobold Molars that you have on you. Head back to the Warrens if necessary, killing Brook and Saah again as you go.

Rinse, wash and repeat until you've earned ally faction with the Deepwater Knights.

Thanks a million, Gretha!

Funny story about all that -

I was at my wits end with the cycle. I had just done the umpteenth hand-in to Tiam Khonsir, and was still warmly. I gave up and /camped right there in the Erudin Pally guild. With the timer counting down, I stumbled across 1 more molar as I was counting my food and drink for the next night's raid. Hmmm....I stood up, handed it to Khonsir, and bingo, ally.

Created an Erudite necro on 2nd account to let my paladin into Paineel and it took about 4 rounds of guard killing (very easy at 60) to raise my deepwater knights faction from amiable to ally. Wish I had thought of this sooner!

Doesn't the Good Version of the Kobald Molar's give you Deepwater Knights faction? I'm HOPEING it does cause I'm going to be handing in a LOT of kobald Teeth tonight just to get Erudin and other erudin recident faction. I'm an Ogre Warrior and to me having good faction everywhere is pretty important.

Edit: I've just done the good version of the molars. I needed wolf form AND invis cast on me to do it. It does raise Deepwater Knights faction. The NPC you hand the molars to is behind the Deepwater building. You can use the left wall to go over it or to con the NPC first. Or if your good faction already, go through the building. I've also just done it with my erudite Enchanter, AND Cleric. So this quest should be added.

* Kill Elian Brook in Toxx Forrest at dock (lvl 7?)
* Then run to Paineel newb area
* Kill Noclin Saah (lvl 15?)
* Go upstairs as you exit the newb area and kill Azzar Habbib (lvl 25?)
==> I would NOT advise attacking other caster by Azzar, nor either of the newb area guards. Caster chased me out of zone at level 55, and guard conned green... and even when I disarmed him, he kicked my butt. Curiously, he did NOT follow me to zone, and did NOT attack me when I ran a few steps and turned and came back to him, even though he cons ready to attack and green.
* Run to dock in Toxx kill Elian again
* Back to Paineel to kill Noclin again
* Repeat.... with sow on, there's just enough time to get from Toxx to Paineel to catch spawns

Elian and Noclin both on a 6 min spawn timer, Azzar on a 1 hour timer.

* Kill Dorn B'Dynn when you can in NRo (he deserves it anyway).

Zombie Flesh Quest also gives Deepwater Faction:

* First, the quest NPC, Dleria Mausrel, is found upstairs in the Deepwater Guild (NOT the Erudin Pally and Cleric Guild !), which is next to the Erud Library. She wouldn't talk to me until I had killed the guy at the Toxx Forrest docks a few times...then when my faction was favorable, she gave me the bag. I hailed her, then said "I am a new priest", then I said "I will protect the depts." and I got the bag. So faction first, then speak those lines.

* The closest place (for a non druid or wizzy that is) to get zombie flesh is in Erud's Crossing. You get on the boat to Qeynos, and it will zone into Erud's Crossing. After zoning look of side of boat and you will see island, I just jumped off and swam to it, not far. First I bought 4 skins off of Cat merchant named Renna (loc -1485, +860), and then I killed some zombie pirates at the sunken ship (it's on the eqatlas map).

* Returned to Deepwater guild, put skins in, hit combine, return bag, and viola, faction and some very minor loot. Since I had 8 skins, I did quest again right there.

-Heretics (Paineel)
+Deepwater Knights (Erudin CLR/PAL Prexxus)
+Gate Callers (Erudin MAG)
+Craftkeepers (Erudin ENC)
+Crimson Hands (Erudin WIZ)

Killing Elial Brook at the dock in Toxx gives -20 points to Heretics faction, and +20 points to the 4 Erudin factions. He has 100 HP.

Killing Noclin Saah in the Paineel newbie yard gives -15 Heretics and +15 to Erudin. He has 400 HP.

Killing Azzar Habbib in the Paineel newbie entrance gives -10 Heretics and +10 to Erudin. He has 1350 HP. But he is about a one hour spawn. I wonder why the higher level NPCs give less faction.

Kill Elial and Noclin every 6-7 minutes, and you will maximize the 4 Erudin factions after about 120 kills in 7 hours. Then if you want, you can go to the Warrens and slaughter a couple thousand Kobolds to regain Heretics faction.

To respond to the "if Inte be killed".

You can kill Inte Akara, but i would advise against it until you have the Avenger or Defender in hand. I am saying this cuase it is an enormous faction hit to the Deepwater Knights. You also mentioned if you can loot the Feiry Avenger. No, you can't. You can loot something totally extradronary that was nerfed to NO RENT.

Inte's feiry sword of death.
150damage, 15 delay
+25str +20mana, 12wis, +5 to all saves
effect: flame shock
NO RENT. NO DROP

Yes it is hard to believe and I myself argued the damn thing. If this weapon got in the hands of just one outside of PoA, going throug 50-60 would be so much easier. If you are thinking of killing this dude...you better get an army of many. This guy will kick your butt into next week.If you still don't believe me, check out Everlore. Im not to sure if this thing was nerfed completely or not. It should be though...

Or if you are brave head to Paineel and kill erudites there for Deepwater bonuses : ) Hehe, I would advice to only kill the ready to attack ones though.
Also, watcho ut for the skely guards there, they may have been green to me when I was 51 but damn, they are harder then Guard Kroon in FP who is blue at 51. I can solo Kroon like nothing else, but those green guards I can barely touch.

The spawn point for the diseased shark is right next to the stairs and the babies spawn right on top of the underwater rocks.
