Classes: The Shaman

Shamen - primitive power. The only magic using class of the barbarians, ogres and trolls, shamen get a variety of spells that combine aspects of most of the other magic using classes. This combination, along with the racial strength, means the class can be played in a variety of different ways.

What is the best way to develop and play your shaman? What spells and skills are the most and least useful? Can a shaman be soloed, and if so how? How should you play your shaman in a group?

Post your strategies on how to best play and develop the Shaman and read, rate and comment on what others have to say.

if u have virulent paralysis AA u can prolly root rot. solo gnolls in Stepps, and maybe spiders in Icefall, just might take a while with the higher hps.

Katta Castrum Greenhouse camp can be solo'd this way effectivly as well. Be careful when pulling though getting multiples is always a pain.

if ur going to start root rotting when u solo look into these, very handy clicky Scaled Avatar's Leggings.

You could also try going to BoT, not all mobs can be rooted though, can try melee with pet and panther as well there. Or with it being Hot Zone u can prolly get a group.

Good Luck.

i agree with the guy above, the scaled avatar legs are a great thing to have, I ALWAYS keep them with me, first, u never know when u may have to root something, and its much faster then trying to mem a spell then cast it, but, for me, its essential to when i solo, leave more room for DoT spells (not to mention it cost zero mana), thats not to say u cant solo with regular root spells, infact there are better root spells available, but the legs work great for me... anyway...
at lvl 70 if ur equipment isnt too bad and u have the new expansion id recommend soloing in dragonscale hills minotour mines camp. easy to single pull just be sure to keep root going, at 70 u can get beat up pretty quick, otherwise, ull want mobs that dont summon, i myself retired after DoN and only came back recently so new xpansions may have good stuff to offer, but at 70 i used to solo in the Ruins of Dranik Scar (among other places) but mobs there wont summon and arent too rough. keep an open mind i guess, when done right a good shaman can solo many things, i recommend u look around and find what is best for YOU, not what others recommend, ull find something soon enuf.
