Classes: The Shaman

Shamen - primitive power. The only magic using class of the barbarians, ogres and trolls, shamen get a variety of spells that combine aspects of most of the other magic using classes. This combination, along with the racial strength, means the class can be played in a variety of different ways.

What is the best way to develop and play your shaman? What spells and skills are the most and least useful? Can a shaman be soloed, and if so how? How should you play your shaman in a group?

Post your strategies on how to best play and develop the Shaman and read, rate and comment on what others have to say.

Well, I returned a few weeks ago from a long absence. The only Augs I have at the moment are the Crest of Valor, and the Polished Blue Softstone from the 65 Hotzones. I am currently a level 66 shaman with gear that was good (not great) just before GoD came out. I have replaced a couple pieces with drops off of nameds in WoS. I've got a pretty good idea of where I want to go with my armor, but there are just so many augs out there I'm having trouble sorting through them all. Could you guys give me a few suggestions for augs that would be relatively easy for me to get, and let me know what the "must-have" augs are?

Nice list Larth. I was wondering if a given focus effect and the corresponding AA stack e.g. Extended Enhancement and Spell Casting reinforcement AA, Burning Affliction and Critical Affliction AA, etc.

Does a given focus effect and the corresponding AA stack?

In general terms, yes.

Means: There are three different means through wich we can affect the above aspects of spells:

A. Alternate Advancement abilities (AAs);
B. Buffs; and
C. Focus Effects (worn and tributed). The Level 75 or Level 70 Focus Effects Charts may be useful to you.

The single best modifier from each of these means will stack - up to a cap, if a cap exists.
