Classes: The Shaman

Shamen - primitive power. The only magic using class of the barbarians, ogres and trolls, shamen get a variety of spells that combine aspects of most of the other magic using classes. This combination, along with the racial strength, means the class can be played in a variety of different ways.

What is the best way to develop and play your shaman? What spells and skills are the most and least useful? Can a shaman be soloed, and if so how? How should you play your shaman in a group?

Post your strategies on how to best play and develop the Shaman and read, rate and comment on what others have to say.

Stopped playing for a while due to a RL tragedy. Still not really in the mood to play but decided to check back here. I believe I will be playing soon. Any of my old friends still around?

Welcome back, and my condolences.

It looked like someone had karma camped you. Hehe, After randomly reading the shaman boards all afternoon long, I think I single handedly put you back to Default. New start, new karma, right?

Smiley: cool

Hopefully, you can liven up the shaman boards some more.

(I'm not sure I can be considered an old friend, but I've really enjoyed some of your past posts.)

Hiya Camp,

Still around - look me up in-game if ya need a 2nd shammie or a ranger for a group .. or if you run across a Tainted Heartstone and need languages spammed at ya. /hint, hint

Speaking of karma, wonder if they'll ever be an adjustment for people that posted back when the default was 2.0?

Aye, back on the boards anyway. Nice to know I was remembered, you guys gave me a much needed smile. Thank you. Tried to play me shammy but my heart isn't in it yet. Too many people in the guild and not really ready for the interactions and banter. But I have found myself thinking of resuming my explorations of Norrath so I've no doubt Wanelen will be in the trenches soon. One good thing is that I find I have no interest in the leveling grind anymore. Should be lots of interesting zones me and Fido can explore without having to worry about getting enough exp for time played.

Glad you enjoyed me posts Bellam. I was never one to let facts get in the way of my opinions :-) Old friend or new it's the feeling that counts, no? Well met my friend.

Got ya on me friends list Brew and you'll hear from me once I start playing Wan. How did the buff channel go? Always thought that was a great idea. Only played my druid once or twice so far and he never has to go to POK except to visit the guild hall and sell so I'm not up to speed on the Plane of Beggers. Jol, I dunno about wiping a zone but it sounds like it might be interesting to try. More likely I'll get murdered and that's kind of a waste of time, I got me GM trophy in dieing long ago :-)

LOL doing this gives me the urge to play. Soon, soon. Wish me luck.

Thanks Ath, ya gave me a chuckle. I got readers? Guess it just goes to show how nice it is to hear about someone in Norrath who gets pulverized more than you do. Once I can start playing again I'll try to keep my What Not To Do 101 classes current :-)

Hey Lickle! Nice to hear from ya. I was hoping you'd still be around. What level are ya at now? I probably need to call you My Lady at this point.

I can't get up the enthusiasm to play Wanelen yet but I have played some minor toons so maybe soon. Too much pain in my life as yet to really get into the game as I played it before but I DID enjoy playing my druid and baby ranger. Even leveled my rogue. I thought about deguilding Wan to avoid the guild chat and questions but decided to just wait until my heart is back in Norrath. I really want to go to all the places I missed while I was intent on leveling.

Maybe it's good that I started slow. I relearned the lesson that it's not a good idea to root and dot yourself when tackling a yellow mob. Hard to kite standing still. I swear, I could HEAR him laughing whilst he ate my druid.

*BIG HUGS* to you Campdog....Please feel free if you need to talk to private me... I am glad to hear that you are getting back into the swing of things and slowly is probably better.. if we push things to fast we can regress...ei one step forward too fast could cause 3 steps back.. if that makes sense... just play to enjoy ... things do get better no matter what they are... I don't know what happened to cause you such pain but know that you have an ear to listen if you need one...and that you have friends that genuinely care for you even if they have never met you in real life... your spirit does shine through on this forum

I am still level 66 with shammy... but my Nec has swooped past as is now 67 :).. I love them both dearly, they have caused me wonderful distraction from real life ;)and each day I love them more.
