Classes: The Shaman

Shamen - primitive power. The only magic using class of the barbarians, ogres and trolls, shamen get a variety of spells that combine aspects of most of the other magic using classes. This combination, along with the racial strength, means the class can be played in a variety of different ways.

What is the best way to develop and play your shaman? What spells and skills are the most and least useful? Can a shaman be soloed, and if so how? How should you play your shaman in a group?

Post your strategies on how to best play and develop the Shaman and read, rate and comment on what others have to say.

Basically, to start any char in EQ you need to decide on Race and Class first. So you have chosen to play a Shaman the best Class in the Game. (IMO) Barb's are the easiest to play. Fraction (love or Hate) between different races that effect quests, zones, ect.

For help on what Class effects starting Stats:

If Sony has not changed it , when you create your Char it used to say if you were choosing a Char combination for playing is EASY , MEDIUM or HARD.

Agility: Physical agility; affects your probability of being hit in combat, how much damage you take per hit, and how fast you learn some skills.

Dexterity: Coordination; affects how much damage you deliver with a bow/thrown weapon, time between attacks, how fast you learn certain skills, and how often certain spells and weapons hit their mark. Also affects some skills and Bard songs.

Wisdom: Affects how fast you learn specific skills. For a Shaman it also affects maximum mana at each level.

Stamina: Health and constitution; affects your maximum number of hit points at each level.

Strength: Physical strength; affects how much you can carry, how much melee damage you deliver to a target, and how fast you learn some skills.

Game play for a SHAMAN is really about AC,HP,MANA but items can fill in the beginning AC and HP but a NEW SHAM is very low on mana.

When I started the game I was told WIS,STR.
But I think the current understanding is play a char Race with starting high Mana or Put most points into WIS and then STA Since the Bazaar stuff can raise AC fast.

This is not entirely true as they are not liked.. Shar Vahls are the only nuetral race faction is concerned from what I know from read ups and from exp, although I have seen Barbarians in KOS in more places then the Shar Vahl..

However that is just from read ups and from my own exp so I not proffessing to be correct lol

But very informative post and very helpful ;)
