Classes: The Shaman

Shamen - primitive power. The only magic using class of the barbarians, ogres and trolls, shamen get a variety of spells that combine aspects of most of the other magic using classes. This combination, along with the racial strength, means the class can be played in a variety of different ways.

What is the best way to develop and play your shaman? What spells and skills are the most and least useful? Can a shaman be soloed, and if so how? How should you play your shaman in a group?

Post your strategies on how to best play and develop the Shaman and read, rate and comment on what others have to say.

Today I woke up and desided that befor going to work I was going to play some EQ, so I log on my shaman, get buffed up and head out. I head over to SK to kill me some gnolls ( nothing like a old school EQ hunting grond ) I get there summon up my little horse refresh sow and get ready for the first pull of the day. the gnoll is blue to me and does not give me to hard of a fight, I pulled with slow and then hit him with disempower. after that I stood in his face and nuked him. he hits the grond cussing my name all the while...now, it's time for the next one. I do the same thing to him, pull with slow then disempower and start to nuke, I kill him with little mana left and low life....so...I sit and wait for my health/mana to go up, cannibalizing here and there for that little bit of mana that may save me in on my next pull. at last after a few mins. my mana is at 50% and health is at 40%. so, I go for another pull....the gnoll at the spire has yet to spawn, so, I pull one off the hill....and the fun begens...little did I know he had a buddy behind him when I pulled him...so thay both come charging down the hill at me, I think, no prob. I can take 2. I root one and slow/disempower the other and get to my tank/nuking...root comes off the other one, so, I re-root him...after taking a few hits back up and start on the other one again....oooohhhh no...more trouble, as I back up what do I do.....but back into another buddy...this is bad...real bad...so I drop the horse and run, root the new add and the other one..mine is low on health so...I go to get done with him...root breaks on him so I run some more and turn to cast another root...what do you know, he started running, so I run after him and give him his last nuke....he crashs to the grond unhappy and cussing me...and what do you know...the one thing a shaman never wants to see at a time like this....sow....is....blinking....bad bad bad....even worse...the root breaks on not 1, but both the other gnolls and thay come charging at me...I cast a heal on my self (seeing as i'm at 20% health) then while takin a hit...I root 1 and run...the other gnoll is hot on my froggy butt...with no sow I stop for a make it or break it root...and it lands!!! yes!!!...now I sow myself and head to zone into paw...when I get in, I see one of the funnyest things ever....my ever mocking big brothers corps....HAHA...and he says I need to upgrade my armor!!! anyway...now it's time for work =) I hope yall enjoy this and if yall would like...I'll keep up with this....what us shamans do to survive =)
