Classes: The Paladin

Paladins - Icons of Virtue. The paladin combines the strength and battle prowess of a fighter with the healing and buffing of a cleric.

What is the best strategy for developing your paladin? Can a paladin be soloed, and if so, how? How should you play your paladin within a group? What skills should you concentrate on developing? What spells are most useful, and least useful? What armor and weapons should your paladin be seeking out?

Post your strategies on how to best play and develop the Paladin and read, rate and comment on what others have to say.

Good Morning Norrath,

It seems i was awaken this morning to find a calling card left on my haversack. I do not know who it was from but the handwriting seemed fairly familiar to me.

The note was short and simple. A call to arms is needed and i must heed the warning. So i will ask all of my fellow travelers who makes the best paladin? what stats should i focus most on? what stats should i focus least on? what should she weild? (though i am kind of partial to 1hs and a sheild).

Please feel free to post with your answers, each one will get looked at carefully, and when the patch ends this morning i will make my final decision.

P.S. Please dont let that noob of a 13 year old near this post, it seems his spelling and writing leave nothing to be desired.

Thank you all,

Well.

I favor the High elf, I like the armour scheme.
Stats never concerned me too much but honestly Stamina is going to be the most important stat for you, and I find wisom important because your two main jobs at the high end game are tanking and healing. I would recommend not bothering with sword / shield combo starting out to be honest, you need as much dps as you can at lower levels and without a decent 2 hander you are too dismal to be of much use in a group. The only advantage to shields is bashing at this point in the game.

If I were you I would start a paladin on Firionia Vie. If you do that I might have some Ornate gear I could give you. (It's no drop on FV).

ok paladin when i think paladin i think a stout dwarf with a sword in one hand a shield to bash you with in the other. You want to focus on Wis and STa but i would worry about Sta more becuase you are a tank class not main healer. Reason i like Dwarfs is becuase they start with better wis then most second only to erudite and high elf if remeber right and there sta is higher then most. when you get going on weapons use 2hb 2hs 1hs and 1hb in the higher end game its nice to have all skills maxed and get the best weapon without worrying about what skill it is

Stamina will be most important, as you will tank, and HP matters a lot. Second will be wisdom, as that affects your mana pool. At the top end of the game, even if you are not raiding, you can max both, easily with the right buffs.

Pick a race you like, and then put your points into stamina then wisdom.

Don't just worry about min-maxxing stats. if you pick a char you don't like, based on appearance, you'll probably get sick of playing it.

My paladin is Human. Not the best statswise for pally, but I WANTED to play a paladin of Ero Marr, and the difference in HP/Mana was never noticable in a group.

Now, at level 50, he maxxes both Wis and Sta with shammy and chanter buffs.

i have a lvl62 high elf pally and find that he is better than other race pallys since i have more mana and the same hp.
But the only down fall is that a high elf's basic str is 80.

if you want yer Paladin to be a TANK, dwarf for sure.
Qen is a HIE, and i screwed up his stats on creation due to ignorance. however, at 67, i think i'm beyond the creation error. when fully buffed my stats are all at or near cap i think.
as for looks... i like the human Paladin. they just LOOK like Paladins IMO 8)
i've always wondered why they never put the flowing cape you see on the boxes in the game. would be a sweet effect i think. /shrug
at high level i dont think your race makes a whole lot of difference. possibly none.

Although Frogloks do not appear very "immaculate", they are badass knights. I liked the starting stats, and thier colors are appealing. Just from my roleplaying experience, I put most of my stats in DEX and AGI. I figuered if it hit more and get hit less, I would live longer:) Going all out with Stamina is a great choice as well, for the max HP ans all. As everyone will tell you, starting stats mean nothing once you get some decent gear and buffs, the stats will work them selves out. Good luck and good hunting.

I would agree atm this is my first toon, i pikced a froglok just for fun and thought it would be kinda cool and funny. This is both a fun and serious character. It is entertaining watching a frog getting pound on and not dieing!

I like the human pallies the best the stats are well rounded and put points into wis and sta should be ok Yaulp help out str. I currently have a human Paladin named ArgussWarspite on RN server and he's pretty cool. I did the newbie quest armor and kept it from 12 to 40th lvl. After that I got money to get armor from bazaar. currently I'm 48th lvl and with stuns and taunt I can even out tank most tanks. Pulling is easy with soothe and clam spells so you don't get adds. I love hunting in EC killing the Taskmaster and other mobs money sucks but exp is insane. If you need more you can solo in Dulak around the drunken pirates. I found them to be very easy at 40+ plus gem drops aren't bad. I'm going to either solo in dulak or try my luck in Hole. Good luck brother Pallies
