Old necro returning to EQ

hello everyone. i'm returning to eq after several years and for the past few days have been doing some reading to catch up on the changes. so for a 72 necro icefall glacier appears to be a popular place mentioned on the forums to solo. is that still true or are there better places now? keep in mind that i'm totally under-geared and haven't even pulled anything yet. i'll probably go somewhere for a few hours to practice before i actually try to xp grind. and is it just me or is there some serious lag on cazic? any pointers are appreciated.

Welcome back'

To reactivate your existing lvl 72 Necro, I believe you would have to start on a non progression server. On Fippy, (one of two progression servers the other being "Vulak") the lvl cap is 60 atm and you might have to start a character from scratch. That server has unlocked the "Luclin" expansion at this point in time iirc.

If you have decided to play your 72 Necro on a regular server, Icefall would be a kite friendly zone with good xp. Another good zone is Dragonscale Hills (SOF expansion) and if you have Defiant or better gear you could go to Loping Plains (my choice) also from SOF expansion. All trash mobs are kiteable in Loping Plains, and here is where you can easily/quickly earn 1500 AAS or more between 74ish to 80, where many other gear options open up.

Before lvl 80, make it a priority to buy the "Defiant" line of gear for your level. It is cheaper in the bazaar than on an NPC merchant, and drops globally. No piece of this gear should cost more than a hundred pp except the chest pieces which should never cost more than 1500pp. And that is high in my opinion.

Good luck and have fun...
