Recently I've been playing the Necro in the new MM's in Plane of Knowledge and I've become 'obsessed'. I decided it was one of the best classes to play, especially for someone like me. I hate grouping! I find it tedious and well I just don't like it. So, the Necro seemed a perfect fit. I've made on, Kivanu, she's lvl 34 now and I'm stuck. I don't know where to go for levels since it's been so long (my main is an 85 Warrior) and I don't really have 'up to par' skills with Kiting and such. I'm just looking for a few tips, anything really, that will help me out with this baby toon (: I appreciate everything and anything useful. Thanks!

I restarted recently after having taken a timeout for aprox 6 years or so, I have always enjoyed playing a necromancer even though I have had other classes, took a necromancer again as it is a highly versitaile class.

For where to go, even though I restarted, little over a month ago, those levels went so fast so I cant remember exactly where I went, but there is a Vah'shir standing near the soulbinder in PoK, that hands out armor quests in your level and there is also the hotzone dude near the guildhall entrance which gives you a hint where to go.

Best site for necro-questions I have found which is alot more active than here, is http://www.necrotalk.com/

Learn how to kite! It isn't difficult. But you need a zone where you can do a little running so dungeons are not usually a good idea. An outdoor zone is great! I have an 85 necro on Tunare. I snare the target, run back some so it can't reach me, dot the target--moving away if needed, then send in my pet to beat on it. Then I simply run around and refresh dots as needed until mob dies. Sometimes it takes awhile but it is fairly easy and low risk. Plus, if your pet dies, you can always summon a new one, but be sure you have enough bone chips.

It has been several years for me, but if i recall correctly i did my thirties in the Overthere. Big zone and plenty of mobs of different levels in different parts of the zone. Course, the zones in Serpent Spine are also big and offer plenty of kiting spots, but I am not familiar with which one would be best.

You just need plenty of room, and use your clinging darkness line of spells to snare-dot the mob to slow it down. Make sure not to let that run out, refresh it if you need to. Just stay ahead of the mob and you will be fine. Also, don't send your pet until you have several dots going and they have all ticked at least once or twice, so your pet can't gank aggro from you and get killed. Since you will be moveing the mob at all times, the best pet for this is a rogue for the backstabbing (check alla to see which one is rogue at that level).

The key for kiting is aggro control - it has to be on you at all times. If you do have friends nuking or plinking arrows while you run the mob around, make sure they don't join in until the mob is down to 90% so you can establish yourself at the top of the hate list. You want to be in control.

Necros are a great class, just experiment to find your style. Happy hunting!

Thanks (: I've got her up to lvl 70 these days and she's doing pretty well. I learned how to Kite, taking your tips was helpful and I really enjoy her now. Kiting is enjoyable and fairly painless (I've gotten caught a few times) but other than that I'm getting a hold of this. Thanks to all for your advice(:
