well my friend has a level 42 ranger and I created a wizard just wanted to know what people think of the combo and if anyone has any experience with that team or any comments on it

No comments on combo, except that it isn't the best*, but not the worst either. Workable.
But will comment on how to kill things. You will in my opinion need to kill places where you will have a lot room to move around while killing the mob, unless ranger has good enough gear to tank the mobs.
I would make sure, that you both have sow on, then let the ranger pull the mobs with snare. If the wizard can hold agro with nukes, then the ranger can move in and melee, unless he can do better dps with his bow. Wizard keep moving around, while nuking and keeping safe distance to mob.

*Best with a ranger would be shaman, beastlord or necro imho. But you should play the class you want to and ranger/wizard should work fine.
