Classes: The Warrior

Warriors - the tank class. Combining a powerful offense with a strong defense, warriors are best suited to slugging it out toe to toe with the monsters they face.

What is the best way to develop and play your warrior? What skills are the most useful for a warrior to develop and master? Can a warrior be soloed, and if so how? How should the warrior be played within a group? What weapons and armor whould the warrior seek out?

Post your strategies on how to best play and develop the Warrior and read, rate and comment on what others have to say.

Hys ... I have real "problems with our disarmability. I have my 1HS up to 289 and disarm at 200. But I never ever (at least as I remember) could disarm even green enemies!!! ... Whats up with that crap? I know that I need for backstab a special weapon (piercing), but for disarming???

Anyone a clue for me?

It just seems to go in stages, and i do not know if there are any plus disarm multipliers. But i was in the Veksar fighting dark blues, and I disarmed one in six of them, so it must work once in awhile.

Although, I sometimes miss the disarm until i see the weapon on the ground, cause the damage does not seem to change.

Copied and pasted from my post on the Ranger board. The second statement, I think, may help answer your question. Some information is not pertaining to your issues - please ignore it if it seems like a non-sequitur. It may be helpful to someone else, though.

In my experiences with several characters with the Disarm skill, I've found the following information to hold true across the board, and I'll add a little logic to each one.

- You can only skill up Disarm by attempting to disarm mobs with weapons - what are you going to disarm on an UNARMED mob?
- You cannot successfully disarm weapons with a "MAGIC" tag, although you can still practice your skill - if you could disarm them so easily, they wouldn't be very magical, would they? This rule also applies to the Pickpocketing skill.
- You can skill up Disarm on ANY armed mob, regardless of level - practice is practice, even if they make it easy on you.
- You CAN disarm weapons with the "NOTRADE" tag - not sure about this one, but once you pick it up off the ground, you're stuck with it, and there's no "Are you sure?" message.
- Disarm generates a fair amount of agro, so it's useful, if for no other reason than keeping the mob angrier with you than your cleric.

I would also like to add that Disarm does not generate nearly enough agro to use it as a substitute for any of your other skills as a Warrior.

THX for that!

Great info so far! .. the thing with the magic tag I wasnt aware of .. that might be the prob (gonna check that)

16.08.07:

Aye .. all weapons, I tried to disarm (to be exact any weapon in Veksar) was tagged "magic". That would proof it.

But I cant see the sense in it, and Sony I guess doesnt care. I have magic weapons my own (well .. who dont has, if fighting in Veksar .. lol). Magic itself doesnt provide getting disarmed. Thats a kinda technique, not really a state of magic. Perhaps it can make it more difficult, but provide it?

My suggestion would be:

Tree (weakest to stongest): no tag - magic - lore - no trade - artifact

For being able to disarm, my weapon must be at least the same lvl as the one I try to disarm. (means, that I would need an artifact myself to be able disarming one with an artifact.)

Additionally ther could be several modifier to the levels to make it more dificult (e.g. no tag - Counts as the stats are / magic - 20 % less likly / lore - 40 % less likly, ... etc.). Something like that.

I guess I should petition that thing to Sony ... If I wouldnt be that damn lazy ;-)

Although I have never been into Anguish myself, there are two major problems with your theory, Solitar.

1. The mob has to actually be weilding the weapon(s) you want to disarm. In this respect, it's fairly common to have (for example) a Warrior-type mob drop a Cleric-only weapon, which it is not actually weilding.

2. EVERY weapon or piece of armor in Anguish almost certainly has a Magic tag. Magic items cannot be disarmed or pickpocketed, as I mentioned above.
