When we got to the spawn point Senvial of the Mist was not up, but the chest was already visible. Senvial of the Mist never become non-KOS. I logged back into the zone 24 hours later. No chest appeared before the fight and I got the non-KOS version at 8%
slowly killing Trenzar = every time he popped an add, I'd turn to it and kill it before going back to him, Senvial probably spawned halfway into the fight.
I kept up the slow strategy of killing adds, then focusing on Trenzar.
Once Trenzar was dead and all I had left was Senvial. I beat him down to 8%, fearing the finishing blow to hit, I turned off autoattack around 20% and just kicked him and let riposte take him down further to 8%.
Then I turned around and I hit cover tracks AA and suspended merc.
He started to regen life, I made my self visible and hailed and he dropped a chest on me and gave me his blessings. Hope this helps others.
If you are fighting him and high level, realize that, much like myself, you can ruin the entire fight by doing a Finishing Blow on him and standing there looking around realizing that you have to wait HOURS for the event to re-trigger. I'm 2 hours into it, and still not up. For some reason, I think it may be 4 hours like the previous big fights. I wish I could turn off finishing blow all together on some fights.
Don't let him go non-agro prior to Trenzar being killed. He refuses to talk to you if you do. According to the lore, he's being held by Trenzar, your job is to kill Trenzar and free him.
We had him de-agro before Trenzar died and he regen'ed to 100% and just stood there. HoTT showed he had me targetted still, but he wouldn't respond and couldn't be attacked. I tried zoning and returning... then logging out and back in... neither worked, so I'll have to redo the event.
Slow dps is the key.. I was soloing him while the rest of the raid worked on Trenzar and the adds and I still brought him down too quickly. I'd suggest that you stop all DPS as 25% and soft tank him if Trenzar is still up.
I say 25%, because he de-agro'ed on me at 19%. It's random below 20% I guess, and normally below 5%, but there's always that slight chance that he de-agros early.
As a follow up... I redid this last night (5/22/2007) with 4 groups of mostly "very" casual raiders.
Being short on mezzers, we put the MT on Trenzar with a dedicated healer while the raid dealt with the adds as they came.
The first time I did this, Senvial was about the third or fourth pop, last night we had 10 or 12 adds before he finally popped. By the time Senvial made he appearance, we were falling behind, running low on mana and had begun losing people. Finally, the MT and the OT's all fell, so we had everyone back up to the hill at the end of the bridge. (All the 1.5 mobs are tethered to the platform and can't leave the bridge) We rezzed and rebuffed. As we started moving to re-engage Trenzar, he despawned on us leaving just Sevial and 2 or 3 other adds on the bridge.
I had the raid jump on the adds, while a pally and myself jumped on Senvial. At about 30%, the MT, a SK and his pet jumped on Senvial too. It took some yelling to get him to back out.. thank goodness he didn't dot or harmtouch Senvial.
Anyway, at about 12% Senvial respawned non-aggro, I hailed, got the Blessing and a chest.
So Trenzar despawning seems to act as though he were killed. I'm guessing that as long as Trenzar isn't in the zone when Senvial de-aggros, you can finish the script. It doesn't care why he's not in the zone, just that he's not.
Just trying to get some mob info together for this ranger epic. snareable?, mezzable?, slowable?, rampage?, flurry?, summon?, max hit? and any other info that will help me to defeat this mob. Thank you for any information.
