I went through my logs looking for more info on Boiling Oil. It always hit me for 34916 damage. (I have no idea how to apply resists, etc to compare the spell info dmg to what actually hit me).
You have taken 34916 damage from Burning Oil by Gaither `Bad Salt` Hafner
This happened 7 times after he cast it, once per 6 seconds. I didn't realize it was a DOT, but it looks like from the log. I didn't find an expiration message.

If I remember right, Burning Oil was an AE/DD was preceeded by a yellow warning text and it was possible to get out of its way by range; I'm not sure if it was directional so that getting behind him might have worked.

Appreciate you taking the time to submit the info for the spells all these named in the mission cast. We have a couple different "burning oil" AEs that have the right damage amount on them but only one is directional so that's the one I've attached this NPC, that tidbit helped (if it is indeed a directional AE which I imagine it is since I imagine you aren't intended to eat both AEs).
