No way did Ivory skull https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=16692 get updated in 2008. Given I looted this item yesterday and I wasnt even running the item collector way back in 2008, "Updated" obviously isnt being updated.

A question:

When you ran it through the item collector yesterday did it update anything or was the entry the same as what was updated in 2008?

The updated items in the list (i.e., weak oleander extract) show the correct update time.


Many items get "updated" because they added a fresh tradeskill tag and quest tag to so many in the last couple of years. That last big update blitz was when they added augment slots to nearly every item in the game... so unless a drop is so rare that it hasn't been through the item collector since before Legacy of Ykesha the majority of item collector entries should normally be from new items.*


*unless they change something to an old item, or group of old items.

Im not quite sure what you are saying.

How would I know what details were against the item before ? The item collector doesnt show this. I have even just changed it to promiscous mode and its still not showing enough details to determine this.

I have it constantly running. When something new turns up in advanced looting, I look at it quickly to decide what loot options to set. If its a tradeskill item like this one , I tend to bag it and check it later (invariably when Im running out of bag space).

I dont look at it, search in allah and then start the item collector.

It obviously did request and upload the item or my name wouldnt be against it now.

Given its old then, yes I wasn't expecting it to be updated. But then the collector seems to be requesting so many items on a daily basis and I dont know the logic/process after the upload, before it updates the database.

However if nothing has changed, then why put my name by it ?
If it did change then why not also change the Updated ? One changing without the other is a nonsense.

Surely ppl looking at the site, want to see how upto date an item is / that it is still in the game etc.

The item database gets worked on from time to time so this is the reason why you see a bunch of items being updated at a certain date.

I asked the item collector dev if something changed with the program because it was updating everything. He said he didn't change anything in that regard. However he said the site sometimes decides to flag all items for updating again so this is what is most likely happening.
