Kelethin: There Goes the Neighbourhood

Longstanding Typos?

No offense to Guard Noonshadow, but he is the only NPC in the game with the word "noon" in his/her/its name. Most of the other Kelethin NPC have the typical moon/stream/wood/sun type of names we expect from the elf-fantasy genre. Was he supposed to be Moonshadow? Noonshadow makes some sense of course, so maybe it's a stretch calling it a typo.

 

Any other longstanding typos out there that drive you crazy or make you laugh?

 

A couple of new items in the update suggest that the item collector is at least partially functioning again?

As typos go, this barely counts, but I just noticed that the various "orc pawns" in the newbie zones don't have the prefix "an" at the front of their names.

So the death message is, incorrectly: "You have slain orc pawn."

I'm not sure if this is the case on live servers or p99, but on the Phinigel server (time-locked progression) one of the faction hits given in Howling Stones is "Drussel Sathir" instead of Drusella Sathir, the boss of the zone and Venril Sathir's betrothed.

Hi snailish, I think you missed a couple of new Hot Zone augmentations I managed to collect:

Bog Slime
Shattered Highlander's Trinket

No doubt there are others, but I haven't done all the new hot zones yet.

Update: Jaggedpine Resin is dropping in the Emerald Jungle.

You download the software, then run it while playing EQ. It sniffs out the items that you see while playing. It's not perfect, but it captures a lot. If you switch back and forth between Lucy and EQ, you can see when it recognizes an item.

Hey Oxgoad, I tried installing it and running it, but it's giving me this error: No interfaces found! Make sure pcap is installed. The game is running when I get this error, btw.

Not sure what to do at this point. Um, help?

P.S. The 'winpcap' box is checked.

Note: It always takes a few days after a patch for Lucy to become active again. Since yesterday, May 18, it's not yet working for me either.

The first thing I'd try is running it as an administrator. (Right-click the icon and select "Run as Administrator.")

You can also set it up to do this automatically by selecting Properties: Advanced and selecting the checkbox.

Yes, it is working again, for the most part. I still get a bunch of invalid item errors, but as long as I'm using a character without one of the bugged items, I am able to feed the collector.

Also, currently, Lucy doesn't seem to want to recognize items on vendors, which it used to do. The workaround I have for this is to right click on the item being sold to bring up the item's info box, then left click on the item image. This allows you to put a link to the item into your chat box. Click return in the chat box and you will say the item's name. Click on that magenta link to bring up a new info box. For some reason, Lucy recognizes that info box, but not the other one. It's a bug, but not one that Zam seems to be working on. I reported it a thousand years ago, but I don't think they ever had anyone look into it.

At least one of the "invalid items" seems to be the various tradeskill trophies. Perhaps the code for evolving items looks weird to Lucy?

The most common typo in in-game chat is "rouge" for "rogue". (This drives me nuts.) And I don't think this is of the "teh" for "the" sort, which is just a typing glitch. I think some players, even those who play the class (incredibly) sometimes mis-spell it as "rouge."

There are definitely typos in game I've noticed over the years. I'll have to think about digging some up, though.
