Getting Started in Call of the Forsaken

The 20th expansion for EverQuest launches. Check out our wiki guides!

Hi everyone. It feels like we just did this! Here we go -- it's time for EverQuest's 20th (!) expansion.

While you're waiting for servers (which are expected back at around 10:00 A.M. Pacific Time tomorrow morning) to come up, you can check out the game update notes, our COTF preview postings, and our wiki guides:

  • Call of the Forsaken Overview
    • What's a heroic adventure? How about boosting those mercenaries? Where to get spells? It's all in our overview section.
    • One of the first things you may want to do is attune yourself to the portal stones in the Ethernere Tainted West Karana -- see this link for details.
  • Progression & Task Listing
    • Just that -- how progression works, along with a listing of all tasks in COTF along with links to quest, NPC, and map images.
  • Group & Raid Armor
    • Not much has changed in the department of visible armor -- same means of production, only different items in use.
    • Armor item links will start to fill in once servers are patched and our Item Collector is back up and running. (You can help speed up this process by running the Item Collector in the background as you play EverQuest -- once we get the item collector patched, that is -- we'll keep you updated!)
  • Raiding in Call of the Forsaken
    • Four new raids to check out!
  • Call of the Forsaken Lore
    • Just what's going on here, anyway? Read up on the lore surrounding the expansion.

It's highly likely the patch will knock out Lucy's Item Collector. We'll have that back up and running again as soon as possible, and then items will start piling into the database.

As always, if you have any information you'd like to contribute to the site here, just leave a comment on one of the items, quests, NPC, zone pages, etc. or drop us a line at eqteam@allakhazam.com, and we'll get it updated.

Thank you, and happy hunting!!

SparxxUI v15.3 (COTF Edition) is ready for download over at EQInterface.com

10-03-13 Release Version 15.3 (Fully updated for the COTF expansion)
Merchant Window

- Added the new "Total Parcel Count: #" to the Parcels tab (Not sure why they added this as the total is already at the top).

AA Window
- Added all the new Merc elements introduced with the COTF expansion.
- Moved the Merc Type dropdown to the far right.
- Corrected "Merc AA Points" label alignment.

Loadskin Window
- Removed minimize option.
- Changed "Keep Your Layout" button text to "KL", and made button much smaller to prevent accidental overwriting of your layout (the button still has detailed a tool-tip).
- Changed the color of the text on the Load Skin button to green.

Achievement Window & Achievements Window
- Removed the frilly borders on all achievements (I hate those damn things).
- Completed Achievements are now bordered in green.

Extended Target Window
- Fixed slot #7's health percent label.

Sparxx EQ Menu
- Removed the "Update EQPlayers" button.
- Removed the "My EQPlayer Page" button.

Options Window
- Added new mouse options (X/Y slider controls).

Inventory Window
- Removed the Merc label from the Merc tab.
- Removed all of the new elements introduced with the COTF expansion from the Merc tab, and moved them to a new Merc (popup) window I created on the Mercenary Window.

Mercenary Manage Window
- Created new button (Inv) which opens a popup window with the new Merc info/gear introduced with the COTF expansion (I have no idea why SOE did not do this in the first place).
- Added Merc AAXP Bar, and current Merc AAXP Count.
- Flip-Flopped the Stance box and buttons (left to Right).
- Made the switch popout window persistent (now has a header and close button).

Misc
- EQUI_TopLevelScreens.xml ~ Added provisions for the new Merc popup window button.
- Changed the Lines Fill Tint on all XP bars to white for better visibility.

Can't seem to "fire" my merc with the new UI Sparxx. Or did you hide that button somewhere else?

Thx for a nice UI otherwise :)
