Patch Notes for July 18, 2012

Here are the patch notes for this morning's game update (from the patcher):

*** Highlights ***

- Changed the "Return Home" time to 18 minutes since the last time you logged in.  Previously you had to wait 6 hours to use this button.  Now it's set to the same time as Origin without any use of the hastened AAs.

*** Items ***

- Fixed an issue that was causing the tiger raptor to load textures that were not on it before.

*** Quests & Events ***

- Corrected several script errors that had been causing the Grimling War in Grimling Forest to fail.
- Corrected a door script in Thundercrest Island that had not been functioning.
- Order of Three (Raid) - Reduced the mana drain effects of Mindshock and Bonds of Guilt.
- Order of Three (Raid and Group) - Corrected a problem with Procedural Failure and Peerless Procedural Failure that was causing daggers to be summoned when casting with those effects.  The intended effect is... less pleasant.

*** Spells ***

- Bard - Adjusted values on bard overhaste songs to match the values at which they are actually capped by code.
- Ranger - Corrected a scaling error in Sand Wasp Swarm that made this component of Swarm of Sand Wasps deal less damage than its predecessor.

*** AA ***

- Enchanter - Moved the root effect of Beguiler's Banishment Root from slot 3 to slot 12 to avoid conflicts.

*** Progression Servers ***

-  Tribute masters should now be available at the appropriate time.

*** Miscellaneous ***

- The teleportation crystal at the outpost in Jaggedpine Forest should now send you back to Surefall Glade.

- Fixed an error that was causing certain plate armor types to appear as chain. They should now correctly appear as plate.
- Fixed some display problems on armor with Velious textures.
- Heroic Dexterity will no longer incorrectly affect all damage types.  It should now affect ranged damage only.
- Fixed several sources of client crashes.
- Improved our internal logging for client crashes.  Players can now choose to add additional information about what they were doing when they crashed.
- Character transfers that fail will now inform you of the reason why they failed in most cases.

*** Previously Updated ***

- Corrected a broken particle that was causing blue effects to appear over players in auras, causing performance issues.
- Corrected the appearance of the Animated Armor mercenaries.
- Corrected a problem that caused many objects to fail to load when a player changed servers.
- The restless wraith in Txevu will now properly summon the Vrex Invokers.

perhaps you dont know about the bug that allows any class to use a ranged item, even if it has a required level, for full damage.....

even if you do have a required 95 bow, which i do, you will not be hitting for 4k with no aa.

My newbie ranger picked up Ikanyrd, Longbow of Arcane Fortune Archery in BD and then the 5 damage aug in CoB (total 113 damage / 25 delay) and was critting for 3890s at level 49 and is now hitting well over 7k at 65 with trueshot running. Remember you dont need AAs if you have 7th Vet.....

don't believe it one bit, you cant even get the zone where the bow drops properly. and 3890 with 7th running is a far cry from 4k. gets your facts straight. and 7th IS an aa.

also, stop cheating.

Firstly, you arent half as clever as you think you are. Quit trying. I'm trying to think of a way I could trade or acquire something that on most servers is no drop?.... hmm maybe you could help me out?
Secondly, Vet AAs arent earned as other AAs and are acquired at level 1.
Thirdly, 3890s are not a far cry from 4k. Rounding to that number was much easier in the original post.
.. and finally, who is cheating? You yourself posted you were using a lvl 95 bow. If SoE is more concerned with not fixing the things that matter, I dont really feel obliged to worry about it.

I recently bought a Glorious Infused Recurve Bow and Numinous Reaching Symbol of the Skeptic. Ranger is still lvl 83. Since my last post i had put 2 more points into Archery Mastery for a total of 3 points. At lvl 83 it shows a Base Dmg of 91 and Delay of 25. Okay nice. I had to upgrade to gold to do the combine in the first place. Wasn't allowed to do the combine on a different character. Got a message saying it would be NO DROP and unusable.

I am still using Summoned: Arrow of Marr Base Dmg 3 arrows. With the new bow max hit with crits was 2435 on the same light blue coning mobs as my previous post. I will try to get a better arrow and see how much of a difference that makes.EDIT: Bought 200 Class 6 Steel Silver Tip Arrow. Base Dmg 8. Still max crit hit was 2680. I realize i made a terrible mistake in my last post though. I thought Trueshot only lasted 20 seconds. It lasts 2 minutes. I used the lvl 80 disc Aimshot. Max crit hit was 6114 dmg on the same type mobs. It looks like you were right about the dmg as well as the fact that even though my ranger is below the recommended lvl to equip the bow it still works.

wow your ranger is uber. I am using a Gilded Bow of the Hunter with my lvl 83 ranger and summoned: Arrow of Marr. Have 1 point in Archery Mastery and 1 point in Combat Fury the max dmg i have seen using just my rangers buffs including crits is 1109 dmg against against a light blue con. To do nearly 4k a shot with a lvl 48 ranger is amazing. I haven't used Trueshot disc as it only lasts 20 seconds and the re use timer is over an hour and i don't have that veteran reward either but i imagine even if i used both at my current lvl i probably wouldn't even come close dmg wise to what you could once you got that ranger to lvl 65.

Some classes can solo up to 70 skill in Alaran, others cannot, been in Argath for 2 weeks and have yet to be able to do a pickup group to complete any of the group tasks required. Tying AA's to advancement is stupid in its inception

Looks like we will need to wait until the August patch before we can buy VoA class AA's without earning the 71 Alaran skill.

They keep tinkering with overhaste like it's unbalancing the game when they have yet to fix the inbalance to the casting classes. Necro swift-dots are making most encounters trivial (no class should be able to stack 25 dots on a mob either) and the lack of a fix for ranged slot items so that required level means nothing for rangers is annoying. Level 45 rangers using required 95 bows and hitting for 4k is much more unbalanced than flurry rates for end game encounters.
