A Call for Info

One of the more popular areas of the site is the character section, allowing you to input the equipment your character is wearing and having some fancy searches done for you on the basis of what you're wearing. I'm beginning the long process of enhancing it to try and make further use of the databases... As many people have pointed out, the stats currently do not calculate very well. This is deliberate, or has been so far, because I simply don't have the information to be able to calculate the stats based on your character's race, class and level. So, what I'm asking for is information so I can try to get some basic caculations working. The big ones, which I need information on are: Hit points: What's your level, race, class, stamina and hitpoints (before +HP equipment)? does anyone know the base formula for calcuating HP? Armour Class: This one's a little vague as there is an armour class component which (accoring to Verant staff I've fed alot of beer) is hidden, and no - they won't tell me what it is. Some people have surmised that it's a fixed magic number of about 1.6 (ie: AC of 10 shows as an AC increase of 16 for certain classes). When your character puts on an AC (no +AGI) item, how much AC do you get? Agility: This is kindof in the AC category, but how much AC does your character show when you boost your AGI? I believe the mana calcuation is correct, there's no way to verify that it is, but it's the same one used by other sites so it gives a rought representation of available mana. --Illia

It looks like no one has posted here, so let me be the first. I did some experimenting with 2 of my characters (Human Paladin level 27 and Halfling Cleric level 35) and here is what I found. It would have been nice to take a "nekkid snapshot" each time I leveled, but since that is not possible now...

Here are the base attributes assigned to each character upon creation:
Male Human Paladin (worships Mithaniel Marr)
STR-88
STA-84
AGI-77
DEX-77
WIS-86
INT-75
CHA-88
(Don't laugh. This was my first character and I didn't know what I was doing. I love him too much to recreate him now)

Male Halfling Cleric (worships Bristlebane)
STR-80
STA-80
AGI-95
DEX-90
WIS-115
INT-67
CHA-50
(I think I got this one right, hehe)

Here are the "bare naked" statistics on each character:
Level 27 Human Paladin:
HP-730
AC-329
STA-84
Level 35 Halfling Cleric:
HP-670
AC-325
STA-80

In case you also wanted to try to recreate the amount of HP/AC gain when leveling up, I also recreated each character with the same stats to get a baseline on what a level 1 would receive for HP and AC:
Human Paladin at level 1
HP-31
AC-11
Halfling Cleric at level 1
HP-24
AC-15

When leveling:
(HP)
When leveling my paladin from 26 to 27 he gained 27HP from 703 to 730.
-----
When leveling my cleric from 34 to 35 he gained 29HP from 651 to 670.

(AC)
When leveling my paladin from 26 to 27 he gained 2AC from 327 to 329.
-----
When leveling my cleric from 34 to 35 he did not gain any AC and stayed at 325.

========================================
Ok. There is the baseline information. Here is the stat enhancing stuff.

I do not own any uber equipment that shows massive changes, but here is what I have:
(HP)
My paladin has no HP increasing items :(
-----
When adding a 10HP item to a naked 34 cleric the HP went from 651 to 662. The 35 cleric's HP went from 670 to 681.

(AC)
When adding a 10AC item to my paladin AC went from 329 to 344. When adding a 17AC item to my paladin AC went from 329 to 355.
*AC gained when wearing the 17AC item = 1.5294 per AC worn, or (355-329)/17
*AC gained when wearing the 10AC item = 1.5 per AC worn, or (344-329)/10
Due to rounding, AC gain is probably 1.5 per each AC point equipped.
-----
When adding a 10AC item to my cleric AC went from 325 to 341.
*AC gained when wearing the 10AC item = 1.6 per AC worn, or (341-325)/10
Due to rounding, AC gain is probably 1.5 per each AC point equipped.

(AGI)
When wearing a 4AGI item, my cleric's AC went from 325 to 327.
*AC gained when wearing the 4AGI item = 0.5 per AGI worn, or (327-325)/4
My paladin has a Gold Carnelian Wedding Ring (5AGI) that makes AC skyrocket from 327 to 360. I can't explain this. Perhaps it is an anomoly?

That completes the information that you requested, but in order to be complete, I would like to throw out two more stats that affect HP and AC. They are STA and STR.

(STA)
My paladin has a 10STA item that causes HP to go from 730 to 749, and my cleric has a 5STA item that causes HP to go from 670 to 678.
The increase to HP per STA point appears to be about 1.8 (rounding makes it hard to determine accurately)

(STR)
This area is interesting, because I can't see an immediate pattern. Perhaps the AC gain per STR point is tied to the "slot" the item fits in. You will see what I mean when looking at the examples:

My paladin owns a few STR items that seem to have an effect on AC:
Silver Amber Ring (2STR): AC goes from 329 to 362.
*AC gained when wearing the 2STR item = 16.5 per STR worn, or (362-329)/2
Golden Amber Earring (3STR): AC goes from 329 to 362.
*AC gained when wearing the 3STR item = 11 per STR worn, or (362-329)/3
Bloodstained Mantle (6AC 3STR): AC goes from 329 to 371 (note: part of this is due to 6AC and part is due to 3STR).
If we remove the AC gain that is based on the mantle's 6AC rating by using the above AC calc (AC gain of 1.5 per AC worn) the 3STR effect takes AC from 329 to 362 and the calculation is the same as that for the 3STR earring, or 11 per STR worn.

To further muddy the waters, I noticed when I was re-equipping myself that putting on items after almost fully dressed didn't make the stats increase the same as they increased when I was naked. I suppose there is the possibility of items in combinations affecting the stats in strange and mysterious ways.

I hope that this is helpful. I also hope it makes some sense. I'll wager that Verant made the calcs complicated enough that you need to be a master in the arcane arts to figure some of this stuff out. (I should have created a wizard)
