You say, 'Hail, Slave Trader Arad'

Slave Trader Arad says 'Hello ______.' the shiliskin offers a slight bow. 'Your reputation precedes you. Hopefully you have arrived [looking for work]?'

You say, 'I am looking for work.'

Slave Trader Arad says 'Excellent! Here are the jobs I need done.'

Among the jobs he needs done is 'A Traitor's Fate':

Deep orc slaves have their uses. They are bloodthirsty, strong and stupid, three reasons the Shiliskin Empire has long trained them as frontline shock troops. Unfortunately, the drachinds (sic) have learned the same thing and now many of the Empire's deep orc slaves have been captured and conscripted into the drachnid ranks. Arad wants to discourage this behaviour.

Sneak into the Hive and retrieve the heads of 10 deep orc conscripts. Place them on Arad's spear and bring the bloody totem back to him.

He shall plant this spear outside this hut as an example to all deep orc slaves. Soon all the deep orcs will know that to fight under drahnid banners means death at the hands of the Shiliskin Empire.

Collect the Heads of 10 Deep Orc Conscripts 0/10 (The Hive)

Impale the Orc Heads on Arad's Spear (Combine) 0/1 (ALL)

Travel to the third level of the Catacombs in The Hive and kill 'A Deep Orc conscript'. There is a tunnel exiting northeast from their room which makes a good camp spot with only one wandering drachnid and two door guards. (Plus one of the door guards is a named that drops a good Plate BP). They con yellow to a 70. Every one drops a head. Get 10 and combine in the provided container.

You say, 'Where is the location?'

Boss Harrowan says 'She is currently deep in the Hive hidden away in one of the gigantic cocoons hanging from the cavern ceiling. If we were able to send a force to slay her, it would have to send the drachnids into disarray. Do you believe you could [gather such a force]?'

You say, 'I will gather such a force'

Boss Harrowan says 'Indeed, then here are the directions to find her. Slay her if you can, though I would not wonder if you were lost in there forever.'

Enter the Queen's Lair 0/1 (The Hive)

Sendaii's cocoon can be entered from the Hive - it is the largest such cocoon and will be marked on your compass.

LOADING, PLEASE WAIT...
You have entered Queen Sendaii`s Lair.

You feel the presence of a powerful creature. You know instinctively that she is called Sendaii. She touches the Curse of Blood in your veins and twists it. She infuses it with her own power and drains away your ability to withstand the power of magic. You know that she can only do this because she is similarly cursed. It is through power and willingness to embrace the Curse of Blood that she is able to affect you.

On zoning in to the Queen Sendaii's Lair you will immediately be hit by an unresistable spell, Curse of the Hivequeen. It cannot be dispelled and lasts 15 minutes. The effect depends on how many bosses in the "curse set" you have encountered:

1st: Decrease 7/8/9/10/11 Cap by 20, Decrease All Resists by 20
2nd: Decrease 7/8/9/10/11 Cap by 40, Decrease All Resists by 40
3rd: Decrease 7/8/9/10/11 Cap by 60, Decrease All Resists by 60
4th: Decrease 7/8/9/10/11 Cap by 80, Decrease All Resists by 80
5th: Decrease 7/8/9/10/11 Cap by 100, Decrease All Resists by 100

Note: It's possible to avoid this AE, but it's not known under what exact circumstances you can do so. It may involve flagging for Demiplane or killing events in Demiplane (up to or including Mayong Mistmoore).

Destroy the glowing egg 0/1 (Queen Sendaii's Lair)

"a glowing egg" sits near the zone-in area. Destroying it triggers the event.

TASK LOCKS HERE

Slay Sendaii and her minions 0/1 (Queen Sendaii's Lair)

Wave 1: The Arachnids

After the egg is destroyed, 12 spiders spawn. A combination of these types:

a venomous drone (Warrior class; hits for ~2200; summons; single-target rampages; enrages)
an enchanted drone (Enchanter class; hits for ~2200; summons)
a warded drone (Wizard class; hits for ~2200; summons; mezzable)

You have five minutes before the next wave spawns. The second wave spawns regardless of whether you've killed all of the first wave.

Wave 2: The Drachnids

The second wave consists of 12 drachnids. A combination of these types:

3x a royal guardian (Rogue class; hits for ~2300; shadowsteps)
4x a royal defender (Necromancer class; hits for ~2300; enrages)
2x a drachnid adept (Wizard class; hits for ~2300)
2x a drachnid handmaiden (Cleric class; hits for ~2300)
1x a devoted acolyte (Cleric class; hits for ~2300; mezzable; casts Divine Barrier)

The royal guardians shadowstep around:

a royal guardian disappears during the distraction and reappears behind their victim.

Approximately eight minutes into this wave, Queen Sendaii wakes up. Moments later, she spawns the first mob of the third wave:

Sendaii, the Hive Queen briefly places a glowing hand on the eggs.

Wave 3: The Undead Ancients

Sendaii spawns six undead drachnids in total called "a risen ancient". Upon death, each risen ancient spawns two vengeful ancients. Upon the death of one vengeful ancient, three enraged ancients spawn.

6x a risen ancient (Warrior class; hits for ~2800; single-target rampages; unmezzable)
12x a vengeful ancient (Warrior class; hits for ~2800; flurries; mezzable)
36x an enraged ancient (Warrior class; hits for ~2800; single-target rampages; enrages; mezzable)

Note that the risen ancients proc the spell "Venomous Thoughts":

Venomous Thoughts: Single Target, Magic (-250)
1: Decrease Mana by 5000

Vengeful ancients proc "Spider's Embrace" randomly and cast the spell "Toxic Blast" upon death.

Spider's Embrace: Lifetap 0', Poison (-100)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 3000

Toxic Blast: PB AE 500', Poison (-350)

Further complicating things during this wave, Queen Sendaii will be wandering around her lair casting this spell:

Hive Queen Aura: PB AE 50', Disease (-500)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 11000

Avoid her.

Queen Sendaii begins attacking after you kill the final enraged ancient.

WARNING: You have approximately 45 minutes to complete this wave. If you reach this time limit, Queen Sendaii will attack regardless of whether or not you've killed all the ancient drachnids.

Wave 4: The Queen

Queen Sendaii hits for ~5000; flurries; enrages; and casts the following spells from here on out:

Queen's Frontal Strike: Directional 50', Magic (-500)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 8000

Queen's Sweeping Strike: Directional 50', Magic (-500)
1: Decrease Hitpoints by 8000

Tangled Webbing: PB AE 70', Poison (-100)
2: Decrease Movement by 70%

Venomous Fog: PB AE 100', Poison (-400)
1: Decrease HP when cast by 1500
2: Decrease Hitpoints by 800 per tick
3: Increase Poison Counter by 35

Take her down to 75%. At 75% she splits into four copies of herself - each called "Sendaii, the Hive Queen". Only one of them is the "real" Sendaii.

Beat the "real" Sendaii, the Hive Queen down to 50% at which point the three "copies" of her will despawn.

At 25%, approximately 35-40 drachnid elite guards spawn.

You say, 'Hail, Scout Bristlethorp'

If you've finished "Shadowmane Invasion":

Scout Bristlethorp says 'During the War of the Four Crests after the Fall of Xill, the Shadowmanes and drachnids attacked fast and were never detected by the Ragepaws and shiliskin. Even with all of that, I'm not sure why they failed. I can only gather minimal information from the [other various artifacts] that I have discovered here.'

You say, 'What other artifacts?'

Scout Bristlethorp says 'I was up in the caves one night and found several crates of gnomish explosives that were with us on the Burrownizer. How the Ragepaws obtained them, I don't know. If you look at the density of this explosive through my Big-Blasto Detection Unit 9800, you can see one of the reasons the Shadowmane were able to push past the barrier protecting one of their high ranking elders, Ultrok. I hope no gnomes got involved! Would you like to take a [closer look]? You must give it back to me when you're finished inspecting though; I wouldn't want it falling into the wrong hands.'

You receive A Crate of High-Powered Gnomish Explosives.

Defending the Grove (Unsolved): Find the Freemind Cipher at location -1500, -700 in Undershore (located in the southeast part of the zone near the waterfall). This group monster mission is offered after looting An Unhusked Mindspore from one of the mushrooms near him and eating it:

You stagger as a thousand memories come rushing into your mind, memories of a sporali's lifecycle, memories of floods and droughts, growth and death. Some memories surface so vividly that you feel as though you are being drawn into them.

A task window pops up offering four monster missions, one of which is "Defending the Grove".

You have been assigned the task 'Defending the Grove'.

Templates include: Sporali Sporemage (Wizard), Sporali Enforcer (Paladin), Sporali Tender (Cleric).

The minds of the leaders of the sporali colony have been damaged by undead shiliskin magic. You have taken over their bodies until their minds are repaired. You know that the undead shiliskin will be attacking very soon. You must not allow all the memory sporali to die. As long as one lives it will be able to pass its knowledge to others. You have at your disposal two Sporali Gardeners. You simply need to hail them to get them to follow and listen to you. If you tell them to a seed (sic), they will plant it where they stand.

The retchweed will temporalily incapacitate anyone close to it when it is touched. The firestorm spore will explode, injuring all who are caught in its blast. Each Gardener only has seven seeds, though you might be able to find more to plant, so keep them alive as well.

Hail - to get a Gardener to follow you around and listen to your commands.

Plant - tells a Gardener to plant a spore at his feet.

Stop - releases the Gardener from your command.

Keep at least one of the memory spores alive until the Undead Shiliskin attacks have stopped.

Hail Freemind Cipher to zone in.

In the garden area of the caverns are two gardeners, a scorchstalk and retchweed. Hailing them will get them to follow you and act as pets.

(Reward information?)
Deserting the Ranks (Normal): This is a group mission which is an integral part of the Dreadspire Keep Access Quest.

Zahn can be found at loc -585, 725 in Undershore, on the shore north of the JTP camp.

You say, 'Hail, Zahn'

(The following is verbatim text, even if it looks oddly constructed.)

Zahn says 'The shiliskin regards you cautiously and speaks several garbled words which you do not understand. He speaks again, this time with different inflections although you still cannot comprehend what he is saying. Finally he speaks in a recognizable tongue, 'Or perhaps you [understand] the language of the clockwork traders?''

You say, 'I understand'

Zahn says 'Then please,' the shiliskin hisses. 'Spare me. I no longer fight for those that would harm you. There isn't much time. I need to make my [escape] into the upper caverns before I am found.'

You say, 'escape?'

Zahn says 'This cavern is a tomb. It seals the last remnants of the Shiliskin Empire behind the walls of Malgrinnor. Soon, even that outpost will fall, if not to the drachnids than to the cursed undead that infest the Empire's former capital. . . So I've made a deal with the clockwork traders in Corathus Creep. I've been assured that I will be well taken care of in exchange for information on Malgrinnor's forces and operations. I just need several things done before I can leave this doomed cavern in peace. Will you [help] me. . . Or better yet. . .can you gather a [group] of elite warriors to lead an expedition into Illsalin?'

You say, 'I can gather a group'

Zahn says 'Thank you, surface dweller! May your gods smile upon you.'

You have been assigned the task 'Deserting the Ranks'.

Whoever requests the task will receive a Shiliskin Heirloom Shoulder Guard to be used later in the mission.

The final mission of the Shilgrave, an elite group of warriors from Malgrinnor, was to attack the temple of Korlach in Illsalin. The frontal assault on the city failed, and the doomed legionnaires were either cut down or captured by the undead within. Zahn alone escaped by diving off a bridge and swimming out of the city. All who know Zahn is still alive are now dead, or soon will be, but still he must be absolutely certain that news of his survival will never reach the Shiliskin Empire.

Zahn wants you to take his heirloom shoulder guard and place it on one of the bodies of one of his slain comrades within Illsalin. If anyone comes looking for him, they'll find his armor and think he's already dead.

Bring back a Shiliskin Captain's Insignia from one of Zahn's fallen comrades. He needs the insignia to bypass several siliskin checkpoints on his way to the gnomes in the Creep of Corathus.

Enter the Nargilor Pits (0/1) - Ruins of Illsalin

Head to the Ruins of Illsalin and zone-in to your instance, The Nargilor Pits. Clear the mobs in the zone until you reach the Guardian of the Pit. Once you have killed him you need to find a randomly placed "ornate chest" in the zone (a tracker is handy). Open this chest and loot its contents. This is your "key" to the door behind the Guardian.

A cold voice echoes through the halls, 'Make haste to enter the chamber or face the end of your endeavor.'

As you enter...

A low rumble thunders through the hall as a heavy coral door slides closed. Hollow laughter echoes through the marble halls.

A strange chill fills the corridor as an ominous figure steps from the shadows. 'Your intrusion here is unwelcome, surface dweller,' echoes a hollow and distant voice. 'Have you come looking for the remains of the Shilgrave Legion? Very well. Soon you will join their souls within the carnivorous pages of Shadowspine. The doors are sealed. There is no escape.'

Find the Remains of the Shilgrave Legion (0/1) - The Nargilor Pits
Place the Deserter's Shoulder Guard on a Shiliskin Corpse (0/1) - The Nargilor Pits
Take a Captain's Insigina as Proof of Your Delivery. (0/1) - The Nargilor Pits

Now that you have entered the final room, move quickly to the left corner (hug left wall in the room).

Turn the Heirloom Shoulder Guard into any of the corpses in the final room (do this as soon as you can). Emperor Draygun will spawn and roam the room. He isn't attackable and just roams around and summons the dead shiliskin to life one by one (or occasionally many at a time if the task is bugged). These shiliskin seem to auto-aggro on the person who had opened the door, so plan ahead.

After approximately 10 mobs, you will get jumped by 3 at once, 2 x legionnaire and 1 x captain. Kill the captain and loot the Shiliskin Captain's Insignia, required to finish the mission. The captain also drops your loot "reward" for the mission.

Captain's loot
Deepskin Head Band (hard)
Dried Coral Mitts (normal)
Earring of Gray Waters (normal)
Illsalin Enforcer Boots (hard)
Illsalin Enforcer Greaves (hard)
Lake Tamer Staff (normal)
Nargilor Pearl (normal)

Deliver the Captain's Insignia to Zahn (0/1) - Undershore

Your task 'Deserting the Ranks' has been updated.

Zahn says, 'Well done, surface dweller. Here is your promised reward, a glittering gem I pried loose from the tomb of Illsalin. I consider it my payment for my service to the Empire, and now it is your payment for your success. With luck, we shall never meet in this cavern again.'

You have been given: Gemstone of Emperor Draygun

Destroy the Bloodwings (Unsolved): Find Hourglass in Undershore.

You say, 'Hail, Hourglass'

Hourglass says '(Your Race)! Last time I saw one of your kind you were twitching on a web in the Hive. Now I feed only on rats and careless basilisks that wander from their herd. Such it is to be an [exile].'

You say, 'An exile?'

Hourglass says 'Sendaii the Hive Queen has grown careless and refuses to take action in our war against Emperor Draygun! I spoke up against her leadership and was cast out of the Hive within the hour. How bitter the blood of vermin tastes! It has clouded my mind and made me weak. Perhaps you [have the strength] to do what needs to be done?'

You say, 'I have the strength'

Hourglass says 'Excellent! Come closer and we can discuss this further. I have prepared a web for you to [climb] into Illsalin.'

A mission window opens with two missions. One of them is "Destroy the Bloodwings."

During the drachnid war with the shiliskin, the spellbook of Shadowspine was stolen from The Hive. This spellbook contained the rites and rituals written by the master of Dreadspire. One such ritual instructed the reader on the dark incantations involved in infusing a stone gargoyle with life.

Hourglass is furious that Emperor Draygun now claims Shadowspine as his own and has learned to create gargoyles to use against the drachnids. Queen Sendaii will not take action, claiming that Shadowspine was meant to fall into the hands of the enemy.

Hourglass does not believe such lies. He wants the gargoyles smashed. Let him know if you would like to use his webs to climb the walls of Illsalin and attack the gargoyles from above.

If you respond with a willingness to "climb in to Illsalin," you wind up on a "very high ledge on a building in Illsalin."

Kill 5 Bloodwing Gargoyles (0/5) - Ruins of Ilsalin
Kill 1 Winged Watcher (0/1) - Ruins of Ilsalin

(how does this task progress from here?)

Need task stages and descriptions, quest mobs, quest items, faction hits if any, additional zones including instance names as you zone in, list of rewards, etc. Reward: Distillate of Health X

DoD Level 70 Spell #1: Preemptive Strike (Normal): This is the first task in a series of five (the end result being your 70th level spell/tome) and begins with Jarzarrad the Prophet who can be found in Undershore at -960, +650.

You say, 'Hail, Jarzarrad the Prophet'

Jarzarrad the Prophet says 'I know why you are here, _____.' He nods as you approach. 'I have known why you'd be here since before you were born. You are the _____ who will learn the secrets of [Shadowspine].'

You say, 'Shadowspine?'

Jarzarrad the Prophet says 'Yessss, Shadowspine. . . The drachnid book of the dead. . . The tome stolen by the Shiliskin Empire during the War of Four Crests. Shadowspine corrupted Emperor Draygun and drove him mad with the promise of power. Ultimately, Draygun's study of the tome led him to unleash terrible magic in Illsalin which turned him into a lich and bound the fallen warriors of two armies, both drachnid and shiliskin, to his will. You may not even know of Shadowspine yet. . . But you will. . . Let me know when you are [ready] to trace your fate.'

You say, 'I am ready.'

Jarzarrad the Prophet says 'So be it. Here is what you must do.'

There are two versions of this task: Normal and hard. The only difference between them is the quality of loot and difficulty of mobs.

You have been assigned the task 'Preemptive Strike'.

Before it fell to ruins, Illsalin served as capital of the Shiliskin Empire. The city's streets now lay broken and befouled with Draygun's undead thralls. The few surviving shiliskin refugees have retreated to Malgrinnor, the fortified outpost along the Undershore.

The first thing you must do is weaken Draygun before confronting him directly. Sneak into Illsalin and find where Draygun keeps his living shiliskin captives and then kill them. Draygun needs their life essence to sustain what is left of his wasting body. By killing his energy supply, you are weakening Draygun himself.

When you finally have depleted Draygun's energy supply, you will be ready for a more direct attack on the city itself.

Enter the Nargilor Pits of Illsalin 0/1 (Ruins of Illsalin)

Zone into The Nargilor Pits, an instance off the eastern side of the Ruins of Illsalin (location: -749.69, -1324.27, 57.20).

Find the Living Shiliskin Captives 0/1 (The Nargilor Pits)

Kill 10 Captured Shilgrave Legion Soldiers 0/10 (The Nargilor Pits)

Clear your way to "an ornate chest," which spawns in a random location, usually a rather inconvenient one. One location is southwest of the zone-in, in an underwater pool surrounded by mobs. Another possible location is in the trap. Inside this chest is a Carved Nargil Triangle, a key which opens the door at the opposite end of the pit.

Next, clear your way to the Guardian of the Pit (random in level 71-73) due south of the zone-in. You will need to kill it to safely pass through the locked door behind it. There is nothing overly difficult about the fight. If you can handle trash, you should be able to handle the guardian.

Once you have killed it and unlocked the door, moving into the room will pass the second task stage above.

Finally, you must pull and kill 10 x "a Shilgrave XXX" from the room behind the door, where "a Shilgrave XXX" may be a hard-hitting regular mob or a regular mob that transforms into "a Shilgrave shade," an even tougher version of the same mob.

Once this is done, you will see:

A clatter sounds throughout the hall as your fleeing enemies drop a treasure chest near the entryway.

Your task 'Preemptive Strike' has been updated.

There are two versions of this task: Normal and hard. The only difference between them is the quality of loot and difficulty of mobs.

You have been assigned the task 'Praetorian Guard'.

With Draygun's livestock reserves depleted, the emperor's attention will be elsewhere serching for move victims. Now is your chance to sneak in to the Temple of Korlach in Illsalin.

If Jarzarrad is to help you, he requires the skulls of six undead Praetorian Guards. The pratorians served as the emperor's personal bodyguards during the fall of Illsalin. Their remains will anchor Jarzarrad's divination powers to the praetorians died, the day Illsalin fell, the day Shadowspine was last oppened.

Speak with Brother Stillpool, Jarzarrad's Disciple 0/1 (Undershore)

You say, 'Hail, Brother Stillpool'

Jarzarrad's disciple extends one of the shiliskin royal guard skulls out to you and nods for you to place your hand on it. As you do, he raises his other hand which holds a fine dust of crushed deathshed mushrooms which he blows in your face. Your entire field of vision goes black. When your mind clears, you are in a different body in a different place and quite likely, a different time. . .

LOADING, PLEASE WAIT...
You have entered Illsalin Marketplace.

The door behind you is bolted shut. Beyond it, you hear the muffled sounds of a fierce battle and the screams of dieing soldiers. On the other side of the vast room, you see shiliskin hurriedly preparing for a siege. Emperor Draygun appears to be among them. . .

Speak with Emperor Draygun 0/1 (Imperial Bazaar)

You say, 'Hail, Emperor Draygun'

Emperor Draygun says 'Praetorian, where have you been? The drachnid forces have almost breeched this chamber! Hold them off! I need time to wrest our salvation from Shadowspine.'

Fend off the Incoming War Swarm Invaders 0/1 (Imperial Bazaar)

Kill the Drachnid Commander 0/1 (Imperial Bazaar)

You hear a dull crash as the drachnid battering ram hits the reinforced chamber door.

A shiliskin legionnaire yells, 'The door won't hold much longer! Gather your blades! Defend the emperor!'

It is recommended you set yourselves up in the room behind Emperor Draygun, with the shiliskin legionnaires.

The door buckles as its heavy coral bolt explodes inward. Drachnids pour in. 'Fan out!' their commander barks. 'If it has less than eight legs, kill it!'

The foundation of the entire city rumbles as something massive slams into the city gate.

A shiliskin runner shouts, 'Emperor Draygun! The Korlach leviathan has turned on the city! Our priests have lost control! We need to evacuate!'

Kill off several drachnids in the first wave to spawn a second wave. The second wave includes Commander Oboroth.

You have slain Commander Oboroth!

The commander drops either a Hammer of Striking or a Shiliskin Commoner's Shawl, as well as six Shards of Wisdom. Have each group member loot a shard.

Speak with Emperor Draygun 0/1 (Imperial Bazaar)

Now speak with Emperor Draygun, who then turns into Lich Emperor Draygun.

I have it! The ritual is complete! My army shall never fall! Now, all who stand in Illsalin, embrace death and be reforged in the eternal strength of Shadowspine.

LOADING, PLEASE WAIT...
You have entered The Undershore.

Speak with Jarzarrad the Prophet 0/1 (Undershore)

Return to Jarzarrad in Undershore.

Well done. You are proving to be most resourceful. Now that you have seen the power of Shadowspine unleashed firsthand, you will be resistant to its draining effects when you confront Draygun in the future. Speak with Jarzarrad when you're [ready] to proceed on your quest.

You say, 'Hail, Jarzarrad the Prophet'

Jarzarrad the Prophet says 'I know why you are here, _____.' He nods as you approach. 'I have known why you'd be here since before you were born. You are the _____ who will learn the secrets of [Shadowspine].''

You say, 'Shadowspine?'

You say, 'I am ready'

Jarzarrad the Prophet says 'So be it. Here is what you must do. '

There are two versions of this task: Normal and hard. The only difference between them is the quality of loot and difficulty of mobs.

You have been assigned the task 'Flights of the Seeker'.

Emperor Draygun has learned of your part in the attack on his Praetorian Guards. The gates of Illsalin open and a dark presence gathers. Ready your weapons and make peace with your god.

Gather your group outside of Jarzarrad's hut 0/1 (Undershore)

You must defend Jarzarrad's base from The Seeker. When you gather outside of Jarzarrad's hut, this task stage completes itself.

Defend yourself from Draygun's Seeker 0/1 (Undershore)

The Seeker spawns a short distance away and begins walking towards the hut.

At 15% health, The Seeker complete-heals and spawns a mezzable add (Swirling Stone) to help him. The Seeker does this again when he reaches 15% and spawns another add (also mezzable).

Upon near-killing him, The Seeker despawns and turns into The Shattered Seeker (a frequent rampager). Upon killing it you win the mission.

Both The Shattered Seeker and Swirling Stones give the following faction hits:
+Agents of Dreadspire
+Free Traders of Malgrinnor
+Scions of Dreadspire
-Fallen Guard of Illsalin.

As the last pieces of the seeker fall to the ground the cavern grows eerily quiet. Although you have destroyed Draygun's assassin, you can't shake the feeling that you are being watched.

The Shattered Seeker drops 1 item:

DoD Level 70 Spell #5: Into the Shadows (Normal): This is the final task in a series of five (the end result being your 70th level spell/tome) and begins with Jarzarrad the Prophet who can be found in Undershore at -960, +650.

You say, 'I am ready'

Jarzarrad the Prophet says 'So be it. Here is what you must do. '

There are two versions of this task: Normal and hard. The only difference between them is the quality of loot and difficulty of mobs.

You have been assigned the task 'Into the Shadows'.

Jarzarrad speaks gravely, 'You don't look well, my friends. In fact you wear the same haunted expression that many shiliskin guards wore shortly before they were devoured by Draygun's accursed spellbook. The look of a creature displaced from its grave.'

'Although you defeated the Seeker, it still served Draygun's purpose. It has marked you with the dark magic of Shadowspine. You will now slowly fade away. Not even I can predict what will happen, for the only ones to return from where you're going... are the living dead.'

Speak with Brother Stillpool 0/1 (Undershore)

Stillpool is located just outside Jarzarrad's tent.

You say, 'Hail, Brother Stillpool'

I can try my best to stave off the effects of Shadowspine, but you are all ready slipping away. What you must face, you will face alone. . .

LOADING, PLEASE WAIT...
You have entered Shadow Spine.

Your surroundings are unfamiliar. Although the tower's architecture appears to be of obvious shiliskin make, the sphere floating in the center of the room suggests far more sinister craftsmanship. A strange cold radiates from its surface and you hear the susurrations of a thousand overlapping whispers emanating from within.

'Shadowspine draws its power from all it touches. Your death will only deepen its dark ink.'

'You are a fly in a spider's web, trapped in something you do not understand. So too is Draygun though he realizes it not. . .'

'For though Draygun wields Shadowspine, I, the true author, hold sway over the demi-plane within. . .'

'You are a fly in my web, but I release you. . .'

'For now. . .'

You zone into a room with two locked doors and a spinning orb in the center. When you click the orb, three lingering shadows spawn and attack. Kill them to unlock the doors.

Vampiric Blades is spawned by clicking on the orb in the west tower. Nevermind the skeletal librarians as they are not aggro. It hits for a max ~1,300 (normal); flurries (does NOT rampage) and casts these spells:

Your faction standing with Fallen Guard of Illsalin got worse.
Your faction standing with Free Traders of Malgrinnor got better.
Your faction standing with Scions of Dreadspire got better.
Your faction standing with Agents of Dreadspire got better.

After killing the above two mobs, you see:

'Well done,' the unseen voice whispers again.

'You've bested the blades of the librarians. I personally handcrafted those weapons to guard this demi-plane.'

'But first, let's see how you fare against what remains of Shadowspine's two more powerful victims.'

'They're waiting for you in the final chamber.'

Fragment of Vishimtar hits for a max ~1,700 (normal); single-target rampages; and enrages. It has no AEs, but casts standard Shadow Knight spells.

You have slain Fragment of Vishimtar!
Your faction standing with Fallen Guard of Illsalin got worse.
Your faction standing with Free Traders of Malgrinnor got better.
Your faction standing with Scions of Dreadspire got better.
Your faction standing with Agents of Dreadspire got better.

'Well fought,' the unseen voice continues. 'How eagerly Venril offered to carry the curse of Shadowspine into the nest. How eagerly Draygun unleashed the curse on his own people. Such is the power of Shadowspine, to bring down entire armies without a struggle.'

Emperor Draygun`s Shadow hits for a max ~1,800 (normal); flurries; and enrages. He has no AEs.

You have slain Emperor Draygun`s Shadow!
Your faction standing with Fallen Guard of Illsalin got worse.
Your faction standing with Free Traders of Malgrinnor got better.

'One day, we shall meet face to face.'

'But for now, I release you.'

Your task 'Into the Shadows (Hard)' has been updated.

You may or may not get ported out here. If not, you can jump out of the zone.

Speak with Jarzarrad the Prophet 0/1 (Undershore)

During the fall of Illsalin, many drachnids poured into the city to engulf the outnumbered shiliskin. Shortly before Draygun unleashed the curse of Shadowspine to doom both sides to undeath, the shiliskin defenders retreated into the nobles' palace and destroyed the main access bridge as the drachnids swarmed across. Hundreds of drachnids drowned in the waters there.

In recent years, Lich Emperor Draygun has dredged these drachnid corpses from the waters of Illsalin and animated them as undead. Queen Sendaii refuses to take counter measures to punish Draygun for this insult!

Journey to Illsalin and destroy the bodies of the dredged drachnids so that their spirits may go free. Take Hourglass's Voodoo Skull, it will attract and contain the spirits of the drowned drachnid as you free them for their reanimated remains. Return to Hourglass when the skull shimmers with drachnid spirits.

(more information on task needed)

Obtain 10 drachnid spirits and use them to produce a skull of spirits inside the container you are given.
Handy Work (Normal): You need amiable faction standing (with which faction?) to get this task. Free Trader Arislo is found at +190, -795, in the Free Trader camp.

You say, 'Hail, Free Trader Arislo'

Free Trader Arislo says something a sibilant language that you are certain you will never be able to speak. He pauses, makes a sound like a cough, and then continues. 'My sorries to you, upworlder. The upworld speak is not comfortable to me. You come to trade at us? I have things I [need] for trade, but I have [things] that make me more happy that you bring to me.'

You say, 'What things?'

Free Trader Arislo says 'I want you to make understand why I want get these things, ______. I was member of Shiliskin Empire. I was one that fight to save Illsalin from Drachnid. I was willing to trade life for continuation of empire, of dominance of Emperor Draygun. I was leading small force to push back Drachid, was at walls when Draygun choose to destroy everyone, Shiliskin, Drachnid and all others. I was just out of reach of accursed magic. A few of us survived to understand how Draygun betrayed all of us. Most of younger generation not understand this. They make this Free Traders because they think we need to adapt and survive. I agree to them, [almost].'

You say, 'Why almost?'

Free Trader Arislo says 'They right that we must adapt. They wrong to forget past or not want to kill Draygun. He took their empire from them, he cursed my offspring. We can't fight against Dreadspire and Draygun at the same time, so we must [destroy Draygun] first. We must take back our city and reclaim our empire. Then we can deal with Dreadspire.'

You say, 'Destroy Draygun?'

Free Trader Arislo says 'Yes, eventually. For present we must defeat his armies. There are too few of us now, and less that know and want the fighting. That is why I tell you the [story]. I want you to kill them for me and I will pay you for it. [Bring the hands] of my accursed kin and I will give you some of the metal money that you use.'

You say, 'What story?'

Free Trader Arislo says 'There are many stories to tell. There is one who knows them better called Jarzarrad. He knows the story from view of the royal, the one in the tower seeing everything from above. I know the story as the one in the water fighting. I maybe tell you more about what really happen at [Xill], [Illsalin] or [Malgrinnor].'

You say, 'What happened at Xill?'

Free Trader Arislo says 'Xill was born out of the success of [Illsalin]. Illsalin was known as the Gladiator King. He drove back the Wurine and the silly Sporali. He made the empire when he tamed the Korlach and made all of Darkhollow ours. It was Illsalin that had us build Xill. To many of us, Xill proved our strength. Even after Illsalin was built and named after the great emperor, we still only had one city. Xill proved that we were an empire and that we controlled Darkhollow. That's why they [attacked it] first.'

You say, 'They attacked it?'

Free Trader Arislo says 'Drachnids destroyed Xill. Draygun is a fool for letting it happen. I was a captain in Xill. My unit was ordered to join with the army at [Illsalin] so that we could march on Dreadspire and destroy it. But Draygun pulled too many warriors away and left Xill almost defenseless. We could have destroyed Dreadspire then with half of our army. Draygun sent a small number first and lost them all, so he was angered and planned to send everyone. The Drachnid dug under and swarmed over the wall and killed or captured everyone. The fight was so swift that little damage was done to the city at all. Most of my offspring were in Xill then. I can picture how it happened and I know how we could have stopped them, if we were there.'

You say, 'What of Illsalin?'

Free Trader Arislo says 'I did not know Emperor Illsalin. I can say that the city he built was suitable for the greatest emperor to ever live. We had grand homes, slaves, spectacles to watch in the arena and the best [food and drink]. We were safe but diligent. The city was destroyed because of Draygun. Because of his stupidity the Korlach beast turned on us and the Drachnid were able to breach our defenses. There will never be a day like that, when our protector, the great beast, turns upon us. Only the emperor could have caused that to happen. I have been told that he turned to the undead magic of the Drachnid. The beast must have sensed that and destroyed us for it.'

Need response for "What food and drink?"

You say, 'What happened at Malgrinnor?'

Free Trader Arislo says 'Malgrinnor has become our home. It is the only place left that Draygun has not destroyed through his ignorance and weakness. Those of us that survived Illsalin fell back to Malgrinnor and held it against the attacks of the Drachnid and their allies. It is our last stronghold and our people defend it well. I have come here because I must speak with creatures like you, for you will not be allowed into Malgrinnor.'

You say, 'I can bring the hands.'

You have been assigned the task 'Handy Work'.

You say, 'Hail, Slave Trader Bologore'

The shiliskin moves his hand, beckoning you to join him, 'Hail to you as well, strange one. Tell me, what brings you to my [caverns]?'

You say, 'Your caverns?'

Slave Trader Bologore says 'Indeed, although this area is patrolled by the Shiliskin Empire, the caverns technically belong to me. My name is Bologore and my operation here is the empire's beating heart. Without me, Malgrinnor's economy and infrastructure would crumble away. While the rest of my race hides inside Malgrinnor's walls, clinging to their xenophobic beliefs, I remain one of the few shiliskin who knows how to get things done. Do we [understand] each other?'

You say, 'We understand each other.'

Bologore says, 'Good, I'm glad. Let's keep our meeting between us then,' the shiliskin smiles as he reaches into a nearby bowl and grabs a fist-sized squirming creature. 'Certain members of Malgrinnor's ruling council would have me arrested if they even knew I was talking to you. Yet here I am, offering you a chance to gather a [group] and work for me. What do think of that, strange one?' Bologore asks as he stuffs the creature into his tentacled mouth and chews loudly.'

You say, 'I have a group.'

Slave Trader Bologore says 'Here are the jobs I need done, preferably as quickly and quietly as possible.'

Deliver 5 Nargilor Shards to Slave Trader Bologore - Undershore

The Shiliskin Empire depends on a living mineral that grows almost exclusively from the waters under Illsalin. It is called Nargilor coral and the Empire will pay dearly for the resource.

Venture into Illsalin and recover five splintered nargilor shards. The undead wear them like jewelry and even the witheran eat them for sustenance. Bologore also requires five pieces of living nargilor coral so he can attempt to raise and harvest a colony of his own. Colonies of living nargilor coral may still grow in the shallows and under the waterfalls where the water is stirred with air.

Speak with Bologore's apprentice and he will direct you to a hidden underwater river that snakes its way into Illsalin. The dead will not mount a defense if you sneak in undetected.

Reward(s):
100 platinum,

"a colony of nargilor" drops Living Nargilor Coral.

The hard version of the task requires 8 of each item instead of 5, but rewards 150 platinum.

Into the Leviathan's Lair (Normal): This group task begins with Vorgin in Undershore.

You say, 'Hail, Vorgin'

Vorgin says 'Hail yourself. Can't you see that I'm busy here. I can't believe that I have no way of retrieving [them]!'

You say, 'Them?'

Vorgin says 'Yes, the [treasure] you dolt. . .Err. . . Nevermind. Leave me be!'

You say, 'What treasure?'

Vorgin looks up peering intently at you. 'I see that word carries much weight with you. Hmm, I may have use for you after all. You see before you the tattered remains of the once great Shiliskin empire. For countless generations we were protected by a great beast that prowls these caverns. Known as the [Korlach], this beast would be tamed by our priests and lulled into protecting our city. Until that one day when the demi-spiders burst forth and assailed our city walls, the Korlach did not answer our call to protect our shores. Nay, he came to our walls seeking instead to destroy us.'

You say, 'The Korlach?'

Vorgin says 'Once our savior, he became our destroyer bringing about our downfall. Smashing through our defenses, he aided the vile man-spiders and then retreated to his lair. Since then he has been rarely seen and we dare not risk incurring his wrath again. With our empire in ruins, those of us left have had to get by as best as we can. I became a [merchant] of lost goods.'

You say, 'A merchant?'

Vorgin says 'Yes, I find items that others are in great need of. You see, I have a special talent for discovering them, wherever they may be. A talent that has proven itself to be uniquely valuable in these dark and twisting caverns. Now however, I am at an impasse. A certain valued customer of mine has contracted me to retrieve three items that have been lost for many years. Unfortunately I have discovered that they reside within the very lair of the Korlach himself. How they ended up there, I can only guess. Perhaps it was the larva, the tides, or even a curse upon me. . .I know not for certain. But if you [agree] to retrieve these items for me, I will make certain to make it worthwhile for you.'

You say, 'I agree'

Vorgin says 'Yes, yes, good. Somewhere within that cavern are the items I need. A ceremonial dagger, a deep glow gem, and a steel net. Deliver these to me and I will see that you are handsomely rewarded. Before you go, you must heed my warning! Do NOT stray too closely to the Korlach for if you wake it, you will surely die.'

You have been assigned the task 'Into the Leviathan's Lair'.

The direction to the entry to your instanced zone(s) have been marked on your compass.

The Korlach. It is a gigantic beast that prowls the waters around this area. Its lair is said to hold many treasures lost over time. It is these treasures that I am searching for. Its lair is also full of vile creatures. If you bring the treasures back to me I will give you an item that I know you will enjoy.

You inherently understand that the Sporali can relive this memory and interact with it. A task window pops up offering four tasks, one of which is 'Remembrance (1/2 Group)'.

You have been assigned the task 'Remembrance'.

The Freemind Cipher wishes to show you a series of memories from the sporali collective.

Long ago, the Sporali learned to cooperate with the Pickclaw goblins to overthrow the Evil Eyes infesting Runnyeye Citadel. Sporali individuals are born with all the memories of their entire species, and so the alliance between the Pickclaw goblins and the Sporali colonies persisted throughout the generations.

The Freemind Cipher intends for you to relive this cooperative effort so that you can understand how sporali learn to form alliances, in the right situations . . .

You say, 'Hail, Scout Bristlethorp'

Scout Bristlethorp says 'Tick tockles! Where did you come from? You scared the bolts right out of me. I about oiled my pants. I thought you were one of the [werewolves] out looking for food.'

You say, 'Werewolves?'

Scout Bristlethorp says 'Well, I been out here scouting the lands for awhile now. It wasn't too long after we crashed the Burrownizer that a few of us scouts set out to see what we could find. From what I have learned, there was a [huge war] fought in this area awhile ago. Not many creatures around here will talk about it, because it seems there was no victor, or they won't admit that. I pieced most of it together through the bits I discovered in writings and brief chats with the shiliskin traders.'

You say, 'What huge war?'

Scout Bristlethorp says 'They call it the War of the Four Crests. The shiliskins move in on the drachnids and skirmishes break out. The werewolf tribes then choose different sides and join the battle! The Shadowmanes join the side of the drachnids, and weren't happy about it for some reason. The Ragepaws choose to fight their brethren and join the shiliskin. Some of the artifacts that I discovered showed evidence of an [elite force] of Shadowmanes too, with fancy armor and weapons.'

You say, 'An elite force?'

Scout Bristlethorp says 'I'm not entirely sure what this so called elite force consisted of other than they floated in through the middle of this battle and crippled the Ragepaw forces. I have it here in one of my bags. Would you [like to see it]? I'll need it back, of course.'

You say, 'I'd like to see it'

Scout Bristlethorp digs in his bag and hands you a skull with some markings on it.

You receive "A Rune-Etched Werewolf Skull".

You have been assigned the task 'Shadowmane Invasion'.

Shadowspine Runes (Normal): Brother Hidden Path may be found at -890, +725.

You say, 'Hail, Brother Hidden Path'

Brother Hidden Path says 'Jarzarrad told me of this day, the day I would meet the Erudite that would learn the secrets of [Shadowspine]. Funny, I always thought you would be taller. . .'

You say, 'What is Shadowspine?'

Brother Hidden Path says 'Shadowspine is the carnivorous spell book penned by the ancient master of Dreadspire Keep. Many have attempted to learn the secrets it holds, few survived and fewer still carry on with any shred of sanity. There are rumors though, rumors of rare individuals who have escaped the jaws of Shadowspine with a fragment of the tome's power. Perhaps with the author's permission? Perhaps not? Regardless, Jarzarrad foresees that you will be one of those individuals. He has instructed me to [help] you.'

You say, 'Help me?'

Brother Hidden Path says 'I served the Shiliskin Empire as a translator before I found my way to Jarzarrad. I can unriddle any language you bring to me, no matter how old or how archaic. If you recover any transcribed pages of Shadowspine, I can translate them into the arcane tongue so you can use them in your spellbook. I know not why Jarzarrad has instructed me to help you, but he has foreseen many coming centuries and he has lived through many more. Who are we to question his motives?'

Shilgrave Vengeance (Single) (Normal): This is a single-person task. You may need help in killing the mobs involved, depending on your level.

You say, 'Hail, Zahn'

Zahn says 'The shiliskin regards you cautiously and speaks several garbled words which you do not understand. He speaks again, this time with different inflections although you still cannot comprehend what he is saying. Finally he speaks in a recognizable tongue, 'Or perhaps you [understand] the language of the clockwork traders?''

You say, 'I understand'

Zahn says 'Then please,' the shiliskin hisses. 'Spare me. I no longer fight for those that would harm you. There isn't much time. I need to make my [escape] into the upper caverns before I am found.'

You say, 'Your escape?'

You say, 'I will help'

Zahn says ''Praise to you, Master [Race]. Help me avenge my fallen comrades!'

Loot 12 Malgrin Legion Shields from (what mobs?) in Undershore.
Your task 'Shilgrave Vengeance' has been updated.

Hand them in to Zahn.

Zahn says 'Thank you, surface dweller! May your gods smile upon you.'
Your task 'Shilgrave Vengeance' has been updated.

Zahn says, 'Excellent. Now I can retreat to the Creep in peace. My comrades have been avenged.'
You receive 5 silver.
You gain experience!!
Shiliskin Subterfuge (Normal): Slave Trader Bologore is located at -600, -800 in Undershore (not far from the port-in point).

Slave Trader Bologore says, 'Good, I'm glad.

A task window pops up offering several missions, one of which is "Shiliskin Subterfuge."

Available monsters (drachnids) are warrior, rogue, cleric, enchanter, and wizard. All are 70th level.

'Gather in close,' the shiliskin grins maliciously. 'What I am about to say is for your ears alone.'

'A rival of mine has sponsored an expedition to recover several nargilor statuettes from the ruins of Illsalin. These artifacts have been missing since the city fell to the undead. They will likely fetch a handsome price that will leave me at a distinct bargaining disadvantage. This cannot happen.'

'I need you to slip into Illsalin and stop this expedition by any means necessary. Then acquire the statuettes yourself and bring them to me.'

'Oh yes, and one more thing . . . you'll need to appear as drachnids so that I can claim I was uninvolved in this little heist. I do not want my rivals to have any evidence to use against me, should you leave any of them alive. Here, this spell will shift you into drachnid form as soon as you enter Illsalin. Return with the statuettes and you will be well rewarded.'

The Depths of Darkhollow (Normal): "an old shiliskin fortune teller" may be found at +1330, -700, -11.

an old shiliskin fortune teller regards you indifferently -- it appears to be quite formidable.

You say, 'Hail, an old shiliskin fortune teller'

The shiliskin stands motionless as though lost in thought. Finally, he speaks, 'Strange things I have seen in these pools, surface dweller. The future, the past, images of warfare. . . it all swirls together here in these [waters].'

You say, 'Waters?'

an old shiliskin fortune teller says 'These waters mark the gravesite of Den Lord Rakban, a werewolf demigod that was Wuria's mate. Wuria blessed her companion with unnatural strength so he could lead the werewolves against the shilsikin long before our empire was formed. After decades of bloodshed, my ancestors lured Rakban into this blind canyon where we now stand. Our korlach priests summoned a tidal wave and drowned Rakban and his warriors forever. There are however, [things] in this world that no amount of water can wash away.'

You say, 'What things?'

an old shiliskin fortune teller says 'The spirit of Den Lord Rakban lingers still. He waits for a worthy warrior so that he may manifest his power once again. Before anyone can confront the spirit, they must first [master the dangers] of Darkhollow. Only then will Rakban return from the spirit world.'

You say, 'I will master the dangers.'

an old shiliskin fortune teller says 'You think you are ready? Very well, return to me when you have completed a great feat in each of the main caverns of Darkhollow. Only then can I stir the waters to summon the spirit.'

You have been assigned the task 'The Depths of Darkhollow'.

To invoke the spirit of the werewolf Demigod Rakban, you must complete a dangerous feat in each of the main caverns of Darkhollow. Only then will the spirit manifest for you. Venture out and complete these dangerous feats. Return to the shillskin Fortune Teller when you are successful with each one and he will attempt to call the spirit of Den Lord Rakban.

This is a five-part task, where you must complete each of five quest lines and come back and finish this afterward. You can start this task before or after you've finished the five quest lines.

The Last Migration (Normal): This group task begins with Freemind Cipher at location -1500, -700 in Undershore.

The Last Migration (Hard) is a non-monster mission that is pretty straight forward. Loot a chest, get key, kill mob in front of door, unlock door with key. clear mobs from room, hail shroom escort the shroom to the zoneline and win.

When you reach the Sporali Freespore, the task will update:

The sporali's thoughts are suddenly tempered with fear. It wants you to stay close as it attempts an escape. It fears the shiliskin zombies who have been conducting experiments on it for the last several days. You realize it will be a moment or two before the sporali masters its fear of the zombies and is able to make its attempt.

On the way to the zone-out, various mobs will spawn in waves of two to attempt to stop you.

The shiliskin undead shout back and forth in an unknown language as they spot the escaping sporali.

When you reach the zone out:

The sporali thanks you by unleashing a flurry of confetti-like spores. Before it disappears into the caverns of Darkhollow, it nods and offers you an unknown item wrapped in a tattered cloth.

Having freed the sporali from the zombies it will undoubtedly be able to return safely to the Freemind Cipher. The final spores of the sporali leave you with impressions of gratitude and happiness.

You have been assigned the task 'The Tomb of Emperor Illsalin'.

Undershore: Investigate the Tomb of Emperor Illsalin

Forged in 4111 from a chunk of carnivorous nargilor coral, Korgoron was wielded by Illsalin as the young gladiator slew the leaders of the warring shiliskin nation-states and united the Shiliskin Empire. Over time, Korgoron began to absorb the strength of the defeated leaders and eventually evolved a personality all its own.

Korgoron shattered and fell dormant the day Illsalin died in the year 4616. The Prophet Jarzarrad foretells that the blade will one day awaken to help a great enemy of the Empire. He foretells that you will be the one to rekindle its strength. He sees that you will wield it against the master of Dreadspire.

Journey to the Tomb of Emperor Illsalin. It lies at the feet of Illsalin's statue visible to the east of here. Go to to the tomb and win the right to wield Korgoron, the Shattered Blade of Illsalin.

Slave Trader Zillvinshin says 'Greetings, Master Halfling. You have stumbled across the Shiliskin Empire during strange days. Only a few decades ago, you would have been driven back long before you reached this cavern. Though my people remain largely intolerant of outsiders, a handful of us have begun to grow more realistic and now seek alliances with other races. Perhaps we can be of [service to one another]?'

You say, 'We can be of service to one another.'

'I'm glad you agree,' Zillvinshin says as he rubs his hands together. 'It'd be best if we kept any agreements made as quiet as possible. There are certain leaders of Malgrinnor who would have my head if they even knew I was talking to you.'

You have been assigned the task 'The Walls of Illsalin'.

You receive Zillvinshin's Trophy Belt, a 10-slot container.

Zillvinshin says 'The Illsalin Legion and the Malgrin Legion once marched side by side under the same banners. With the corruption of Emperor Draygun, however, the Illsalin Legion succumbed to undeath and now marches under the Emperor's accursed command.

'General Veronhar has promised a generous bounty for any soldier who brings back a trophy of of Illsalin Legion tentacles. Of course you will never be able to claim such a bounty, surface dweller, but I can act as an intermediary between you and the Shiliskin Empire.

'Bring me 10 withered shiliskin tentacles from the Illsalin soldiers that patrol the crumbling walls east of here. I will claim General Veronhar's bounty for you, for a cut of the proceeds of course.'

He speaks often of his bloody battles against the drachnids and their Shadowmane allies. One werewolf in particular left him with the most scars. Veruzan the Ghost Hunter they called him. Veruzan stalked Bologore's unit for many weeks, picking off individuals one at a time when they strayed from the ranks. It is even rumored that Veruzan is not a werewolf at all but instead the shadow of Wuria, the werewolves' deity.

After Bologore grew too old to continue fighting, he claimed his only regret was that he nver saw the paw of Veruzan dangling from his standard pole. If you can slay the reclusive werewolf and return with his paw, Bologore will be most impressed.

Veruzan is a patient hunter that is seldom seen, but he is also prideful. Journey to Stone Root Falls and find a ring of werewolf shrines to Wuria. He will see you and arrive to fight.

Way of the Freemind (1/2 Group) (Normal): Find the Freemind Cipher at location -1500, -700 in Undershore (located in the southeast part of the zone near the waterfall). This group monster mission is offered after looting An Unhusked Mindspore from one of the mushrooms near him and eating it:

As you pluck an unhusked mindspore from the mushroom stalk, you are overcome with a sudden and inexplicable urge to eat it. It doesn't look poisonous, but you may want to gather a group in case you are about to blunder into some kind of trap.

A task window pops up with four tasks available, one of which is 'Way of the Freemind (1/2 Group)'.

You have been assigned the task 'Way of the Freemind (1/2 Group)'.

The Freemind Cipher wishes to show you another series of memories from the sporali collective.

These memories belong to a group of freemind spores, young sporali individuals who, unlike most of their kind, are born without the memories of their parent colony. Freemind spores are also cut off from the sporali collective mindpool, although they may still communicate telepathically with the Freemind Cipher, the elder that serves as the sporalis' guide and teacher. These memories originate from the Freemind's first few minutes of life, a time which seems filled with danger and peril.

Although it is still unclear why the Freemind Cipher wishes to show you these memories, the shambling growth does seem to be leading you to some kind of conclusion.

Monster templates available are 45th level Sporali Enforcer (Paladin), Sporali Tender (Cleric), and Sporali Sporemage (Wizard).

Speak with the Freemind Cipher 0/1 (Undershore)

You say, 'Hail, Freemind Cipher'

Your task 'Way of the Freemind (1/2 Group)' has been updated.

Your surroundings grow indistinct and you no longer feel the mist of the nearby waterfall on your neck. You slowly realize you are in a different body, awakening into a another cavern in another time. . .

LOADING, PLEASE WAIT...
You have entered Sporali Caverns.

Quickly spend your AA's and get on with the mission.

You will see this emote upon zoning in:

'Hello, little freespores,' the Freemind Cipher says, 'How quiet your minds must be.'

Your minds are quiet because you do not belong to the sporali mindpool. You can think on your own, independently of the colony that spawned you.

This is both a blessing and a curse... A blessing because it enables you to venture away to seed new colonies, a curse because you all must do so on your own.

Freeminds such as yourselves are only spawned when a colony is under great stress. This is how we sporali spread out to avoid extinction. Normally it is my responsibility to communicate with the newly spawned freeminds and teach them how to gather and grow, but there is no time for that now. We are under [attack] and must leave here at once.

Speak with the Freemind Cipher 0/1 (Sporali Caverns)

You say, 'Hail, Freemind Cipher'

Freemind Cipher shouts 'The orcs have spotted us! Gather close, my children. We can fight them off together!'

a Guttertusk raider says 'We crush! We smash! We end you!'

a Guttertusk marauder wildly shakes its fists in the air.

The deep orcs are upon us. They are ransacking this colony for resources. Come my children, gather your strength follow me. Together, we'll make our escape into the wilds.

Along the way, the Freemind Cipher will give you backstory or encouragement..

Freemind Cipher shouts 'A fallen warrior! Do not mourn him for all of its memories live on in the survivors it saved.'

Freemind Cipher shouts 'The Guttertusk raids have grown frequent and fierce over the last few years. None have the strength to control their orc slaves. Many orcs have gone free, leaving us to handle their raids.'

Freemind Cipher shouts 'This combat is good practice for you, my children. Things will not be easy out in the wilds. Many dangerous creatures lurk in the tunnels of Darkhollow. '

Freemind Cipher shouts 'Out in the wilds, you must learn to think for yourselves. Choose your allies wisely and you may live to one day form a colony of your own.'

Freemind Cipher shouts 'We are almost clear of these tunnels. Have courage, my children.'

Freemind Cipher shouts 'The last of the orcs wait just ahead.'

..until you finally see:

Freemind Cipher shouts 'There it is. The tunnel to Corathus Creep! Once we escape into the wilds, you will each choose your own direction and scatter like seeds in the wind. Good luck to you all, my children.'

Two of "a glittering warchest" will spawn, one after the other. /open them for your loot, one item per chest. The common loot is Fingerless Silk Gloves, and the rare is Bauble of the Colony.
