Circlet of Mist (Normal): This quest begins with a High Elf named Joyce in the Temple of Solusek Ro.

To get to her: Once inside the temple, go through the large gate and then through one of the two doors on the side. Somewhere in the series of small rooms, there is a door that will be hidden by another open door, so in each room look around when the doors are closed. (If you come to a bigger room, you've gone too far.) When you find the side door, go through it and follow it up the stairs. You will come to a balcony in the room mentioned above. Facing into the room, go left and you will find Joyce.

She'll ask for the following items:

    - A Globe of Mist (from festering hags in Unrest)
    - A Water Ring (from aqua goblin tidal lords in Dagnor's Cauldron)
    - A Sapphire, bought from jewelry merchants for as little as 105pp

Bring these items to Joyce for your Circlet of Mist.

    You say, 'Hail, Joyce'

Joyce says, 'I am Joyce of the Temple of Solusek Ro. I am the guardian of four of the items of the elementalist. If you are a magician, ask me about the [Robe of the Elements], the [clay bracelet], the [earthen boots] or the [Circlet of Mist]'

You say, 'what about circlet of mist?'

Joyce says, 'The Circlet of Mist is a beautiful hoop that would look good atop your head. It produces a fine gleam and is known to increase your mental power. Are you [interested] in the [circlet]?'

You say, 'Yes I am interested in the circlet'

Joyce says, 'I will construct for you a Circlet of Mist, but I will need you to bring me the proper components. Bring me a globe of mist from a festering hag in the Estate of Unrest, a watery ring from an aqua goblin tidal lord in Dagnor's Cauldron, and a Sapphire. Bring me these components, and I will construct for you a Circlet of Mist.'

    You say, 'What clay bracelet?'

Joyce says 'The clay bracelet is a wonderful piece of jewelry to wear on your wrist. It provides fine protection, enhances your resistance to magic, and lets you call forth a mystic eye to help you in your travels. Are you [interested] in the [bracelet]?'

You say, 'I am interested in the bracelet'

Joyce says 'I will make you a clay bracelet, but you will need to bring me the proper components. I will need each of the four runes of clay. Three of them can be found in the Rathe Mountains, held by gnomish necromancers. The fourth one is somewhere in the Ocean of Tears, held by a goblin headmaster. Bring me these four components, and I will make you a clay bracelet.'

When you hand him the enchanted platinum bar, he says 'Here is your magnetized platinum bar.' Ostorm's location is 434.50, -73.55, 30.19, two floors up from Blaize the Radiant.

To obtain the Ingot of the Penitent, head to Upper Guk and take the first right after entering. You can swim (staying to the right) to just outside the Temple. Look inside the right water "pillar" at approx. location 206, -484. If your faction with the Frogloks is at least dubious, then you should have no problem reaching this.

To obtain the Icon of the Penitent, head to the Kerran village via Toxxulia Forest. Maugarim is at location 4.67, 2300.68, -0.55 inside the High Temple near the prison past Khonza Mitty of Kerra or a kerran amira priestess behind the altar down a hall in a small room (to the left). Maugarim cons blue to a 28th level Cleric, but is easy enough to take down. You must be sure that she does not run or else you will have to try again. There may be a gorilla guard in the corner of the hallway that may add during the melee, and should not pose a problem unless it kills Maugarim before you do.

Upon killing Maugarim, you see the message: "Your faction standing with Bertoxxulous got worse."

Return to Blaize the Radiant and turn in the items. Upon turning in the items:

Blaize the Radiant says 'Impressive, do you have the rest?'
Blaize the Radiant says 'Impressive, do you have the rest?'
Blaize the Radiant says 'Wear this with pride!'

You receive the Greaves of the Penitent.

Incandescent Gloves (Normal): You say, 'Hail, Sultin'

Sultin says 'I am Sultin - keeper of the three [incandescent]s of power and the [rod] of Insidious Glamour. If you are an enchanter, perhaps we can deal.'

    You say, 'What incandescent?'

Sultin says 'There are three incandescent items of power - a [wand], [mask] and [gloves]. Are you [interested] in any of them?'

You say, 'I am interested in gloves.'

Sultin says 'My personal favorite! Incandescent gloves. If you bring me the components to make another pair, I will give you my gloves. Incandescent gloves are made by sewing together four other sets of gloves. Glowing gloves can be found on our mortal enemies, the shadowed men. Radiant gloves can be found on Radiant in the mazes of Cazic-Thule. Enchanted and gleaming gloves can be purchased for 50 golden coins from Tizina of the Lavastorm gypsies and a bloodstone from Tarn Vislin of HighKeep. Bring me all four sets of gloves and I will give you a pair of incandescent ones.'

    Hand in the items.

Incandescent Mask (Normal): Sultin is a Dark Elf in The Temple of Solusek Ro at location 385, 77, 16.

    You say, 'Hail, Sultin'

Sultin says 'I am Sultin - keeper of the three [incandescent]s of power and the [rod] of Insidious Glamour. If you are an enchanter, perhaps we can deal.'

You say, 'What are the three incandescents?'

Sultin says 'There are three incandescent items of power - a [wand], [mask] and [gloves]. Are you [interested] in any of them?'

You say, 'I am interested in the mask.'

Sultin says 'An item of power! The incandescent mask. If you will bring me the components to make another, I will give you my own incandescent mask. I will need a glowing mask, found on the skeletal monk in the caverns of Guk. I will also need all three runes of fortune. One rune can be found on the dark elf Enynti in the chasm below Castle Mistmoore. The other two can be purchased for 50 golden coins, one from Mizr N'Mar in the Neriak City Library and the other from Madam Serena in the city of Qeynos. Bring me all three runes and the glowing mask and I will give you your reward.'

As an alternative to the skeletal monk Sultin mentions (other posters have reported his location), the Froglok Scryer also drops the Glowing Mask (as well as other useful old-world caster items). He spawns in Upper Guk at approximately 256, -454, -14, in room number 15 on the EQAtlas map. Previous posts indicate he may be able to spawn in any of the 3 spawn points near that location. The placeholders are various Froglok shamans whose levels are in the low 20s. They respawned approximately every 8 to 12 minutes for me yesterday and today.

Enynti spawns at 138, -100.70, -237 (according to Allakhazam). She's level 26 and is next to two gargoyles (which should mean little to an enchanter, thanks to our pacify spells). She drops Rune of Fortune (which Identifies as "Rune of Fortune: Bottom").

Madame Serena is in South Qeynos at loc -38, 64, 2, south of the Mermaid's Lure, which is near the docks. She appears as a gipsy-style Human woman with an Enchanter pet (sword and shield). She doesn't respond to hails. Allakhazam says she has religious rhymes, though.

Give Madame Serena 5 plat or 50 gold.

"Fifty gold? You must want a rune of fortune. If you want another one, give fifty gold to Mizr N'Mar in the Neriak library."
    You gain experience!!

You receive Rune of Fortune (which Identifies as "Rune of Fortune: Top").

Mizr N'Mar is in Neriak Third Gate, in the Neriak Library, at location 914, -1314, -67. He appears as the standard Dark Elf merchant.

    You say, 'Hail, Mizr N'Mar'

Mizr N'Mar says 'Have you come to buy a scroll from me?"

He won't respond to anything you say, but give him 5 platinum.

Mizr N'Mar says 'Ahhh - gold. Here is the rune you desire.'

You receive Rune of Fortune (which Identifies as "Rune of Fortune: Middle").

Give Sultin the Glowing Mask and the three Runes of Fortune.

Sultin says 'I am Sultin - keeper of the three [incandescent]s of power and the [rod] of Insidious Glamour. If you are an enchanter, perhaps we can deal.'

    You say, 'incandescent'

Sultin says 'There are three incandescent items of power - a [wand], [mask] and [gloves]. Are you [interested] in any of them?'

You say, 'I am interested in the wand'

Sultin says 'Ahh, the incandescent wand. If you will get the components to make another, I will give you mine. I will need a pouch of silver dust, found on the dusty werebat in the Estate of Unrest. I will also need a silver wand, found on a silvered guard in the temple of Cazic-Thule. This wand will not be enchanted - you will need to pay Esmirella of the North Karana gypsy camp 50 gold to enchant it for you. When the wand is fully enchanted, bring it and the pouch to me and I will give you the incandescent wand.'

He needs a Pouch of Silver Dust from the Dusty Werebat in the Estate of Unrest.

He also needs a Silver Wand from the Silvered Guard in Cazic Thule, but asks that you get the wand enchanted before you bring it to him.

Both of the components for this quest are no drop.

Once you find the Silver Wand, take it to Ezmirella in the gypsy camp in North Karana. Hand her the Silver Wand and 50 gold coins. She will return a Blessed Silver Wand and instruct you to seek out Raine Beteria in the Erudin Library.

Ezmirella is at the Gypsy Camp in the north-central part of the zone. Her location is n610, n130.

    You say, "Hail, Ezmirella'

Ezmirella says, 'Welcome. I am Ezmirella.'

She does not appear to respond to further dialogue, but hand her the Silver Wand (as dropped by the Silvered Guards) and either 50 gold pieces or 5 platinum, and she will return the Blessed Silver Wand and return the follow dialogue:

Ezmirella says, 'I have blessed your silver wand. To complete the enchantment, you must take the wand to Raine Beteria in the Erudin library. Tip her 50 golden coins, and she will help you.'

    You gain party experience.

When you visit Raine Beteria in Erudin:

Raine Beteria is in the Erudin Library (not in the Palace) on the 2nd floor. She is an Enchanter Spell Vendor so you can locate her with /find. Her location is n1050, n210, p65.

Hand Raine the wand and 50 gold coins to receive the Glowing Silver Wand.

    When done at apprehensive:

    You say, 'Hail, Raine Beteria'

Raine Beltria says, 'You are lucky to be standing. Leave here immediately or suffer grave consequences! You are not welcome amongst the Craftkeepers.'

If you try to hand in the wand and coins at this point, she will return this message:

Raine Beteria says, 'You are most welcome to the circle of the Craftkeepers, but I require more service before we can discuss such things.'

You cannot cast Belevolence (or other alliance spells) on her, however switching to Illusion: Erudite will dramatically improve your standing.

    When done at amiable:

    You say, 'Hail, Raine Beteria'

Raine Beteria says, 'Welcome. I am Raine Beteria.'

She does not appear to respond to other dialogue, however if you give her the Blessed Silver Wand and either 50 gold or 5 platinum then she will return a Glowing Silver Wand and the following dialogue:

Raine Beteria says, 'Your silver wand has been fully enchanted. Take it and the pouch of silver dust back to the temple of Ro.'

Ostorm regards you indifferently -- You could probably win this fight.

    You say, 'Hail, Ostorm'

Ostorm says, 'I am Ostorm of the Temple of Solusek Ro, guardian of the sacred crystal of Kintaz. Be wary and keep your distance, lest the proximity of the crystal [steal] your [memories].'

You say, 'Why would anyone make a crystal that steals memories?'

Ostorm says, 'It is the nature of the crystal of Kintaz to steal the memories of those around it. Only I am safe, and then only because of the strong wardings placed on me by Solusek Ro himself. Are you interested in [losing] any [memories]?'

Rogue Redemption (Normal): This quest involves collecting the Gem of Stamina and the Gem of Rightousness, then turning them in to a named orc in South Ro. Plan to spend a good few solid hours doing this quest and walking around the continents of Faydwer and Antonica.

    Gem of Stamina

    1. Go to the Temple of Solusek Ro. Find Lon the Redeemed at +553, -17. Hail him and tell him 'I am a rogue in need of redemption.' He will give you a sealed note to deliver.

You say, 'Hail, Lon the Redeemed' (Works even at dubious)

Lon the Redeemed says 'Welcome, friend. I am one of the redeemed. I once walked the path of evil and woe. My talents were those of the House of V'ree of Neriak. I now serve the Burning Prince. Are you a [rogue in need of redemption] also?'

You say, 'I am a rogue in need of redemption.'

Lon the Redeemed says 'Then, so be it. Ro commands you to aid the saved one, Ortallius of the hot sands. He is in need of two gems, the Gem of Stamina, also known as the Gem of Passion, and the Gem of Righteousness. I once owned these gems in my former life. They rest with my old friend, [Conium Darkblade]. Take this note to him and he shall give you the gems which you will then take to Ortallius. Be off.'

You say, 'Who is Conium Darkblade?'

Lon the Redeemed says 'When evil ruled my life, I hid in the shadows with a fellow thief. This dwarf's name was Conium Darkblade. He was a genius when it came to poisons. I believe he now taints this world with his evil toxins. No doubt he hides near his homeland.'

2 Make your way to Conium Darkbalde, a dwarf on the center island in Dagnor's Cauldron (location: -235, -829). Hail him if and talk to him a bit if you'd like. Hand him the sealed note from Lon the Redeemed. He will give you a 1H Slash weapon named 'Never Stop Chopping.'

    You say, 'Hail, Conium Darkblade'

Conium Darkblade says 'You seek Conium Darkblade, do you? Often I am here. To test my [wasp poison], yes. Fewer aqua gobs there now are. Ha!! A true rogue am I with no leader or guild. Just the wind and shadows and much treasure to be had.'

Conium Darkblade says 'So Lon has sworn allegiance to a temple. What a fool, but he is a skilled fool. My word is my bond and if he asks for the gem, then so be it. Unfortunately I traded it for a much-needed axe. It was in the middle of a dungeon and.. well, that is a long story. If you want to get the gem, take this axe back to the [one who once owned it].'

You say, 'Who is the one who once owned it?'

Conium Darkblade says 'The human who gave me the axe remains nameless. We were separated during the battle. If he ever got out of there with all his gold, I do not know. The only clue I know of is the axe itself. The words 'Top of the World' were once printed on its handle.'

    3. This is a two-part step. The first part is to pay a visit to Falyn Farreach (location: +238, +628, +40). He is in High Pass Hold, in the back room of 'Top of the World' building in the far left corner of the zone.

    You say, 'Hail, Falyn Farreach'

Falyn Farreach says 'Welcome to Top of the World, the newest shop in the pass!'

    You say, 'Never stop chopping.'

Falyn Farreach says ''Never stop chopping?!!' Hey! I engraved that on a special order for a fellow Highpass citizen. I can't remember his name. He gave me not only some rare gems for it, but also a case of something called 'Lumberjack Pale Ale.' Great stuff!!'

Now head to a bar named the Lumberjack, located a bit south of the entrance to High Keep. You'll find Brian McGee on the balcony on the second floor (-242, +90), next to an ogre named Beef (heh). Give him the Never Stop Chopping axe, and he'll give you a Bottle Crate, which you'll need to fill with 10 different liquors (detailed in the next step).

    You say, 'Hail, Bryan McGee'

Bryan McGee says 'I do not know what you are doing up here, but I am a busy man. Please return to the bar downstairs and enjoy the atmosphere.'

Beef says 'Gets moving before me smash yu to pulp!!'

    You say, 'Never stop chopping.'

Bryan McGee says 'Hey!! You must be the one I traded my axe to. Funny.. I thought you were much shorter. If you have my axe I will return your gem to you. Well..? Let's have it!'

    Hand him the axe.

Bryan McGee says 'On second thought.. You can do a little favor for me first. An associate of mine has asked me to acquire a case of spirits for him. Take this box and seek out what is needed to fill it. Inside you will combine the spirits of Lendel's Grand Lager, Gator Gulp Ale, Blackburrow Swig, Tunare's Finest, Underfoot Triple Bock, Frozen Toe Rum, Blood Spirit, Vasty Deep Ale, Clockwork Oil Stout and the legendary..[Oblong Bottle].'

    Gem of Righteousness

    1. Go to the slums of East Freeport and enter a building called Hallar's Resale. The Gem Case is a ground spawn on the first floor, and looks like a little bag or it can be found on the Second floor in the room with the beds. It is not a container, however, so it may be placed in a backpack.

    2. Travel to the western Commonlands and seek out Noresa Sparkle, and be sure to bring approximately 550 PP with you. She is located in a hut near Befallen (approximately -705, +258). Target and hail her.

    You say, 'Hail, Noresa Sparkle'

Noresa Sparkle says, 'He.. Hello. Wou.. would you like to buy something? Be quick or [Kizdean] will return!'

    You say, 'Who is Kizdean?'

Noresa Sparkle says, '(whispering)..'Sshhh..Please..save me. Get..rid..of..him.''

While you're there, purchase a single sparking sapphire from her. You'll need it a bit later for another part of the quest, and can be a bit costly (510-540 PP or so, depending on charisma).

Find Kizdean Gix and kill him. Though he can wander the zone, he's typically found not far from the Freeport Militia guard hut near the border with Commonlands (approximately -175, +260). Kill him and loot 'A Sealed Note.' It tells you the location of your next victim.

    You say, 'Hail, Kizdean Gix'

Kizdean Gix says 'If you have business then out with it!! If not, then please be gone. I have little time to waste on chitchat!'

Kizdean Gix says 'I shall show you the pure fury of the Dead!!'

    You have slain Kizdean Gix!
Your faction standing with The Dead got worse.
Your faction standing with Queen Cristanos Thex got worse.
Your faction standing with King Naythox Thex got better.
Your faction standing with Keepers of the Art got better.
Your faction standing with Eldritch Collective got better.
Your faction standing with Primordial Malice got better.
Kizdean Gix's corpse says 'Soon you shall learn the extent of the Dead's power. Vengeance shall be theirs.'

    3. Visit Toxdil, a Teir'Dal poison vendor in East Freeport, at the far back room in the walls of the Arena, /loc +905, -415.

    You say, 'Hail, Toxdil'

Toxdil says 'Correct, Toxdil is my name. No last name. I swear allegiance to no house nor guild. What brings you down here? Perhaps you seek my [deadly liquid], perhaps not. Whatever your reasons, I warn you to keep an eye out for the militia. They have begun to patrol the sewers.'

You say, 'I seek the gem of righteousness.'

Toxdil says 'That gem is worthless!! If you want it, you can have it. Oh, but I forgot! I sold it to some gem merchant. I can't seem to remember her name, but she paid highly for it. Ha!! Imagine that. Worthless hunk of crystal. Do not bother looking for it.'

Give him the sapphire that you purchased from Noresa.

Toxdil says 'The gem!! I would notice its sparkle anywhere!! I cannot believe you are handing it back to me!! What a fool. Here you are, fool. You can have this worthless key now.'

You receive A Tiny Key (identifies as "Gem Case Key 2").

    4. Go to Solusek's Eye (aka Sol A) by means most convenient to you. I would advise sneak/hiding around to avoid having the goblins pile on you. Search out and destroy Lynada the Exiled at location -999, -654, a Teir'Dal magician. She is of a relatively low level, so her spells are easily resistible. Loot a sparkle purse. Her faction is with the goblins here, on the Goblins of Fire Peak and Tribe Vrodak.

    5. Hobble back to Noresa in Commonlands. Give her the sparkle purse, and she'll give you A Tiny Key (identifies as "Gem Case Key 1").

Noresa Sparkle says 'Oh!!! Thank you. You are my hero. I have been held captive by that horrid dark elf for weeks. Please take this. It was the key to a [gem case] which was stolen from me by an unseen rogue. If you find the gem case you can take it and the key to the original craftsman. He can open it with only two keys.'
    You gain experience!!

    6. Head to the tunnel of Commonlands (near the LDoN NPCs). Visit a human by the name of Bubar (/loc?).

    You say, 'Hail, Bubar'

Bubar says 'Greetings, friend! I am Bubar, merchant from the burning sands. You must be thirsty or, perhaps, hungry. Please look over my goods.'

    You say, 'What gem case?'

Bubar says 'Talking of containers? I do not make containers any longer. Provisions are much more profitable. Do you have one of my containers? Most likely you have locked yourself out then. My specialty was the three-lock case. They always lose one of the keys. Hand me the case and at least two of the keys and I can open it for you.'

Give him both tiny keys and the gem case.

Bubar says 'I need at least two of the case keys and the gem case.'
Bubar says 'I need at least two of the case keys and the gem case.'

    You say, 'Hail, Jovan'

Jovan says 'Ahh! If you need to ask, you've never had one. Tumpy Irontoe in Kaladim made me drink one of his special brews when I lost a game of King's Court with him. I would give anything I own for one of those right now!'

The Tumpy Tonic is brewed (135 Trivial: 1 Kiola Nut + 1 Water Flask). Alternatively, you can see Tumpy Irontoe in South Kaladim and hand him the Kiola Nut and Water Flash in exchange for a tonic. Give this to Jovan for the Icon. Jovan will despawn once he gives you the Icon.

Wizard Epic: Staff of the Four (Normal):

NOTE: A patch on March 25, 2015, added a work-around to obtain items from Cazic Thule, Dread, Fright, and Terror:

    - In the Plane of Fear, a harbinger of Fear can help adventurers get their epic 1.0 pieces that would normally drop from Cazic-Thule or the golems. These pieces cannot be multi-quested or traded. In addition, a harbinger of Fear can advance the Whistling Fists quest in the same way as Cazic-Thule. A harbinger of Fear will not be available on progression servers until they have opened up the TDS expansion? (need confirmation on this)

Furthermore, a patch on April 22, 2015, added a work-around to obtain bottleneck items from Phinigel Autropos (Kedge Keep), Gorenaire (Dreadlands), and Talendor (Skyfire Mountains). (not on progression servers). The workaround for this quest is to swim into Phini's area in Kedge and kill the "Swirlspine Guardians" until a mermaid titled "a harbinger of the seas" spawns - talk to her and she will spawn a version of Phinigel for you that will only drop your needed 1.0 piece.

Solomen says 'I have worked to chronicle everything from the beginnings of magic to what we consider the modern day of magic. Solusek Ro has been very generous to those who wield magic in Norrath. But throughout history there is one thing I have noticed - too much power corrupts the soul. I have seen and documented that the strongest wizards and those closest to Solusek Ro become corrupted by their power.'

    You say, 'What Wizards?'

Solomen says 'Unfortunately, I don't have time to speak of such things right now. But I could use your help since you are here. I have here an envelope that I need delivered to one Camin Rah. You can find Camin in the wizard tower in the city of Erudin. He is a sage like myself whose knowledge rivals my own. Do you [agree] to undertake my task?'

    You say, 'I agree.'

Solomen says 'Here you are, then. Good luck on your journey.'

  • You receive a Note to Camin.

  • The note identifies as "I've found what we've been searching for!")

You must hand this note to Camin, the next NPC involved in the epic. It reads:

"Hello, old friend, I have made an updated list and locations of the items required for my research. Dragon bones- Plane of Fear Jet Black egg- Unknown Mistletoe powder- Old Sebilis Rune of Lost Thought- Unknown Contact me when you find them Solomen"

Now head to the City of Erudin and find Camin. He can be found inside the Vasty Deep Inn on the 2nd floor. To find him, simply open the front door and go up the stairs to your right. Go down the hall and open the first door on your left. Camin will be behind the door at -1166, -11, 84. He is on Truespirit faction (similar to Beta Neutral - no faction for killing him and starts non-KOS to all).

  • Hand him the note that Solomen gave to you to get this response:

  • Camin says 'So you have met Solomen, eh? He is a man with a wealth of knowledge. It is good to hear he is well.'

    You say, 'Hail, Camin'

Camin says 'Go away! I have no time for you!'

You say, 'What are you searching for?'

Camin says 'Ah! A smart one, I see! If you really wish to know about such a thing, you will have to help me finance my studies. The knowledge I have acquired and researched did not come cheaply.'

You will need to give Camin 1000pp at this point.
Camin says 'Good, good, you show a willingness to learn of this with your offer. What I can tell you is that Solusek Ro had four followers who had shown exceptional aptitude in the arts of wizardry. Solusek Ro himself tutored them. He considered them to be like his own children. I know of one who still exists. He goes by the name of Arantir Karondor. He used to specialize in the storing of magic into physical objects. Arantir has been hiding for many, many years and will most assuredly be going by another name, so keep your eyes open. Anyway, be off, I need to continue my research. Return to me if you ever find Arantir Karondor.'

Your faction standing with Truespirit has been adjusted by 10.
    You gain experience!

Now you must head to Halas. Once there, head toward the shaman guild and find a vendor named Dargon (location 350, 357) that sells a potion called Ro's Breath (identifies as "Powerful magic radiates from this object."). Buy this potion for around 1000pp and make your way back to Erudin.

  • Hand Ro's Breath over to Camin and get this response:

  • Camin says 'Very interesting... I've seen this work before. Yes, yes! It's the work of Arantir Karondor! Give this back to the person you got it from. Maybe he will have a clue to Arantir's location.'

Your faction standing with Truespirit has been adjusted by 10.
    You gain experience!

  • Camin gives you back the potion.

  • It now identifies as "I know who you are."). The only difference is that it no longer has a charge of Shield of Lava. You must now take this potion back to Dargon in Halas. Once it's handed in, she will turn into Arantir Karondor and reply with:
Dargon says 'So, I've been discovered! You must know Camin - he is one of the only people who could have recognized my work. I have worked very hard to mask my presence here.'

    You say, 'Hail, Arantir Karondor'

Arantir Karondor says 'Before I tell you anything, I require you to help me. Seek a woman named Challice. Give her this ring and then return to me.'

  • You receive Arantir's Ring (identifies as "My love has no bounds").

  • You now need to seek Challice out inside the Felwithe Paladin guild at location -13, -263.

  • Give her the ring.

  • Challice says 'Oh yes? Arantir? What a fool he was! The man gave me everything, but for all his intelligence, he could never understand why I was truly with him. It was for his power; he could do anything. But when he mysteriously lost it, he became just another toy. I never loved him. Return this ring to him. He will understand that I have no desire to see him again.'

Your faction standing with Truespirit has been adjusted by 10.
    You gain experience!

  • You get a different version of the ring back (identifies as "I never could love a man like you.").

  • Now you must head back to Halas.

  • You can hand the ring to either version of Arantir. Handing it into Dargon will spawn the real version.

  • Arantir Karondor says 'Ah, but it pains my heart to see this. How I could love a woman like that is beyond me. And yet, I still do love her. It was on the day I was to ask her to marry me that I lost my powers. When I was about to cast my greatest spell to prove my love to her, my magic failed. She ran out on me that day. But enough of me, do you wish to hear my story?'

You say, 'I wish to hear your story.'

Arantir Karondor says 'I once was one of four true followers of Solusek Ro. So great were the four of us that Solusek Ro himself made us each a special item. We did not know what the others' items were, but we realized that was for our own safety. Each one of us, after receiving the item, began to plot against Solusek Ro. Each of us believed we had enough power to dominate Norrath. Solusek Ro saw this and at the time we needed our powers most, he stripped us of them. Now I know two of the other wizards by name. One was called Sylen Tyrn, the other's name was Demunir Scry. The last wizard was a gnome, but I can't think of his name.'

You say, 'What about Sylen Tyrn?'

Arantir Karondor says 'Sylen was a high elf wizard, and like many high elves, he believed himself to be better than others. Because of his birth, he thought he was more noble and more intelligent than anyone else. I heard how met his demise - while flying over a vast area of water, his powers were stripped from him in midflight. He fell and was captured by a rival wizard who specialized in magics of the water. Search for that wizard and you could find a trace of Sylen.'

The "trace of Sylen" he speaks of can be found on Phinigel Autropos in Kedge Keep, just make sure you keep going on with the rest of the dialog below before you go there. A Blue Crystal Staff is what you need. It's one of Phinigel's rare drops so you're in for a "fun" camp. He can be taken out easily by two or three organized groups. He has a number of magic immune guardians surrounding him so you may want a monk to do the pulling.
You say, 'What about Demunir Scry?'

Arantir Karondor says 'Demunir was a human in a rush for power. He was extremely intelligent and resourceful but, unfortunately, was more interested in destructive magic. Hearing of an ancient land, he immediately traveled to it, believing there to be powerful relics left undiscovered there. While exploring, he came upon a dwelling that housed a powerful warrior. Believing himself to be more powerful, he attempted to take this dwelling for himself. While in battle with this warrior, Solusek Ro stole his powers and left him helpless. It is said that Demunir's item is the warrior's most prized trophy.'

After you go through the rest of the below dialog and get the note, you're in for another not-so-enjoyable camp. The item you need now is the Gnarled Staff which can be found on Venril Sathir in Karnor's Castle (/loc?). It's his uncommon drop.

Although only 55th level, Venril will take three or four groups to put down. He procs a 1500 point lifetap so your raid will need to manage aggro very carefully.
You say, 'Who is the gnome?'

Arantir Karondor says 'Ah, the gnome I know very little about. I know he was small and crafty, and that he had a brother. His brother's craft was that of making fireworks, and he was the unfortunate victim of one of his own experiments. His firework exploded, leaving his mind diminished in capacity, even for a gnome. I remember others calling him 'Old Stewpot' in jest. I do not know if this is his birth name, but it may help you to locate him. I hear he also stays close to water because of the explosion. You never know when another gnomish invention will go awry. Give him this letter to help motivate him to remember.'

  • You receive a Note from Arantir (identifies as "What is lost must be found").

  • It reads:

"Greetings Sir Gnome, I hope this letter reaches you in good health."

The gnome Arantir is referring to is Kandin Firepot. He has a 2.5-3 day respawn timer and is found at about -1490, 2845 in Butcherblock Mountains (in a gnome vendor camp along the coastline far south of the dock area). When you give Kandin the Note from Arantir he will say:

Kandin Firepot says 'Brother! I have one of those. He's great, but he's dead. His name was Gabstik and he was a really powerful wizard. I still have one of his greatest possessions! You look like you could use it. I've added another item to my shopping list. I require a dry brittle skin that I can mold or a rare oil found in the planes that I must soak the fuse in. Get me one of these things and I'll trade it for my brother's stick.'

Your faction standing with Truespirit has been adjusted by 10.

    You say, 'Hail, Kandin Firepot'
Kandin Firepot says 'Hello, there! Don't have time to talk. I'm workin', workin', workin'! Careful! Don't slip in the oil!

    You say, 'What oil?'

Kandin Firepot says 'Ah the oil! I recently sent a specially crafted golem to explore through a huge portal to another plane. Its instructions were to collect special oil that I suspect existed in the plane. What I think is the golem broke down. This looks like a good task for one like you. Go see what's wrong with the golem. Here are spare gears of mine in case it's broken. Be careful though, if you put it in wrong it could explode, or worse!'

  • You receive a Golem Sprocket.

  • Head to the Plane of Fear with a raid intact. Hand the sprocket to a broken golem. You now have a 65th level Enraged Golem to deal with. This will be a LONG fight, as he has well over 150k hps.
An enraged golem says 'Error! Malfunction! Destroy!
An enraged golem says 'Wizards like you always bring out the worst in me.'

  • Once he is dead, loot Green Oil.

  • Head back to Butcherblock and hand in the Green Oil to Kandin in Butcherblock.

  • Kandin Firepot says 'Oh wow! You found the oil! Where is the golem? You didn't hurt him did you? I am very fond of him. Anyways, here is your reward a note and staff to give to that guy you were asking me about.'

Your faction standing with Truespirit has been adjusted by 30.
    You gain experience!

  • You receive a Staff of Gabstik and a Note to Arantir (identifies as "Give him a fish!"), which reads:

  • "The fish thank you for the people you sent me! Oh also if you ever come across my lantern please let me know."

  • Now take the note from Kandin and make sure you have the Blue Crystal Staff and the Gnarled Staff and the Staff of Gabstik on you. Give the note to Dargon in Halas. Arantir will once again appear in her place.

  • You say, 'Hail, Arantir Karondor'
Arantir Karondor says 'Ah yes, you again. Do you have the items? Give me the three you possess and I'll combine them with my own.

  • At this point, hand Arantir the Blue Crystal Staff, the Gnarled Staff, and the Staff of Gabstik.

  • Arantir Karondor says 'Here, this pack contains all of our items. You will never be able to open it again, so you must deliver the pack, intact, to Solomen. He will then reward you. Now that I have helped you, leave me in peace.'

Your faction standing with Truespirit has been adjusted by 30.
    You gain experience!

  • You receive a Magically Sealed Bag (identifies as "Godlike magic radiates from this bag").

  • Now you must go back to Solomen in Temple of Solusek Ro and hand him the bag.

  • Solomen says 'You actually did it! I never would have thought that anyone could have truly followed this path. This is a tribute to your intelligence and patience. Here, take this staff and know that you have made Solusek Ro and all the wizards of the world proud this day.'

Your faction standing with Truespirit has been adjusted by -100.

The final faction hit is in fact negative.

  • You receive The Staff of the Four.
  • Reward: Staff of the Four

Words of Darkness (Normal): Vurgo is standing at /loc 356, 87 in the Temple of Solusek Ro.

    You say, 'Hail, Vurgo'

Vurgo says 'Welcome! I am Vurgo, follower of Solusek Ro and holder of the [harvester] and the [Words of Darkness].'

You say, 'What Words of Darkness?'

Vurgo says 'I can scribe for you the Words of Darkness, but you will need to bring me the correct [word components].'

    You say, 'what word components?'

Vurgo says 'The first thing that I need is a shadowed book from our mortal enemies, the shadowed men.'

A Shadowed Book is a very rare drop from Shadowed Men in several old world zones.

After handing Vurgo A Shadowed Book:

Vurgo says 'A shadowed book! Well done! The more banished shadowed men the better. As the items of the shadowed men tend to disappear, I have given you a note to remind me that you have indeed supplied me with a book. Give me the note with the following items, and I will scribe for you Words of Darkness: a book of darkness from the Erudites in the tower by Lake Rathe, a book of frost from the icy goblin in Permafrost Keep and 300 golden coins. Bring me these items, and I will scribe for you the Words of Darkness.'

Your faction standing with Temple Of Sol Ro has been adjusted by 1.
Your faction standing with Shadowed Men has been adjusted by -1.

You receive a Note (identifies as "A Note"). Go hunt erudites near the tower in Lake Rathetear until you find a Book of Darkness from Cyanelle. Note that killing them has the following faction hits:

    -Guards of Qeynos
    -Order of Three
    +Bloodsabers
    +Opal Darkbriar

Next go hunt in Permafrost until you find a Book of Frost from an icy goblin. Once you have both books, be sure you have 300 gold and head back to see Vurgo.

After handing Vurgo a Book of Darkness (from Cyanelle in Lake Rathetear), a Book of Frost, 300 gold piece, and his Note:

Vurgo says 'Solusek Ro does not believe in half measures.'
Vurgo says 'Solusek Ro does not believe in half measures.'
Vurgo says 'Solusek Ro does not believe in half measures.'
Vurgo says 'All of the necessary components for me to scribe the Words of Darkness! Very good, adventurer. Take your tome, you have earned it.'

Your faction standing with Shadowed Men has been adjusted by -1.
