Quests for Shadeweaver's Thicket

Bloody Shak Dratha Hearts (Normal): You say, 'Hail, Captain Koldar'

Captain Koldar says 'Stand back hunter! Not all of my men are properly trained in the use of their spears. You may find yourself losing an eye if you get too close. Now then, I assume you have [come to help.] Is that correct?'

You say, 'I have come to help.'

Captain Koldar says 'Then why are you standing around! Can't you see the invading forces of the Shak Dratha approach our town? Destroy them and bring me four of their bloody hearts as proof of your deed. Snap to it!'

Returning 4 Bloody Shak Dratha Hearts will get you 6 Bandages. The hearts are an uncommon drop from the various Shak Dratha in the area. Reward: Bandages

Champion of the Vah Shir (Normal): This quest begins with Priestess Bast in Shadeweaver's Thicket.

You say, 'Hail, Priestess Bast'

Priestess Bast speaks to you without opening her eyes or disturbing her meditations, 'Greetings to you. I, like others before me, have dedicated my life to protecting the animals that roam these lands. The blight of poachers and others that would profit from their destruction has overrun their peaceful way of life. You may also serve this noble cause, speak with Sentry Ferin in the field. No doubt there is plenty to be done.'

Find Sentry Ferin who roams along the western road.

You say, 'Hail, Sentry Ferin'

Sentry Ferin says 'Hail, _____. Pardon, but I've no time for chit chat, the [poachers] never rest.'

You say, 'What poachers?'

Sentry Ferin says 'Some of the Loda Kai heathens have seen fit to trade in the pelts of our felidae cousins. It disgusts me to think what they are doing with the hides of the proud cats of this land. Were there only adventurers brave enough to [champion their cause].'

You say, 'I will champion their cause'

Sentry Ferin says 'Fighting for the honor of our cause is no small undertaking. Go and hunt down this cowardly lot. Take back from them what they have stolen and fill this casket so that the fallen cats might be honored properly.

You receive a Venerated Cask, a six-slot container.

Fill this container with six Poached Hides which are dropped by various Loda Kai mobs in the zone. Combine the items to produce a Sealed Cask, which you then take to Sentry Ferin.

Note: As you kill the Loda Kai make sure to hold onto any 'A drop of Lodi Kai blood' that drops. You will need three of them to complete this quest.

Sentry Ferin says 'You are truly a friend to the felidae. Take this shroud as a small token of the honor you have done to our people- it is just a small step towards becoming a champion among our people.

You receive a Hero's Shroud (AC +5, STR +1, Cold +5).

Repeat this last bit until you have two Hero's Shrouds.

Find Kojinn Kaa at location -2550, -2850.

You say, 'Hail, Kojinn Kaa'

Kojinn Kaa Kojinn Kaa waits patiently for a hero to emerge, one that will deliver a crippling blow to those that would hunt the cats of these lands. His eyes look deep to your soul as if to ask, 'Is this the hero
I await?'

You say, 'I am a hero'

Kojinn Kaa says 'Many have come before me and made such claims. Your fervor is appreciated, but I require proof that you are a hero whose heart is with us before I can entrust you with such a sacred mission. Have you something to show that you have earned our trust?'

Hand him ONE of the shrouds.

Kojinn Kaa says 'You have proven yourself a hero of our cause, and so I entrust you with this information: the poachers have set up an outpost in the caves on the outskirts of the thicket. Go and wreak havoc upon this deplorable filth that has mistreated our friends. As a badge of the honor you have earned, construct a champion's robe and have the High Priestess Bast bless it for you. The ceremony will require three drops of the blood of those who would bring harm to the felidae. It will be the High Priestess's honor to receive you.'

Your faction standing with Guardians of Shar Vahl got better.

You receive a Champion's Cape pattern. The text above is currently incorrect. In a sewing kit, combine two Hero Shrouds, the pattern, and one Shadeling thread (made by combining two Shadeling silks - drops off
of Xakra worms in the Shar Vahl pit or in Shadeweaver's Thicket). Tailoring trivial may be greater than 30. The result of this combine is a Champion's Cape.

Take your new Champion's Cape to Priestess Bast and hand it to her along with three unstacked drops of Lodi Kai blood.

Priestess Bast says 'You are indeed a friend to us and have earned a place of high honor among our people and our four-legged cousins. Wear this robe with pride and none will ever doubt your conviction for the honor of the felidae.

Your faction standing with Guardians of Shar Vahl got better.

You receive a Blessed Champion's Cape. Reward: Blessed Champion's Cape
Reward: Hero's Shroud
Reward: The Champion's Cape

Chialle's Friendship Ring (Normal): This is a very easy newbie quest for a magic ring.

You say, 'Hail, Saren Kaja'

Saren Kaja smiles and says 'Hello there friend, would you like to buy some of my delicious [Payala] goodies?'

You say, 'What is Payala?'

Saren Kaja says 'Payala has the sweetest nectar in all the lands. You can find them throughout the thicket beneath the blue leafed Payala tree. Try some, I have many Payala goodies for sale. I always say, 'the quickest way to someones heart is a freshly baked Payala tart!''

You'll need to collect 16 payala fruit for the quest. Turn them in 4 at a time to receive Sweet Payala Nectar. You need 4 bottles to get the Chialle Friendship Ring.

Saren Kaja says 'Oh thank you ever so much! You are truly as sweet as the gift you bring.

'You're just wonderful Khatzhana! I have little to repay your kindness with, but I will squeeze you some fresh Payala Nectar.'

Your faction standing with Guardians of Shar Vahl got better.
You gain experience!!

Once you have all 4 bottles of nectar, run inside the city of Shar Vahl. Chialle can be normally found straight across the south bridge at her vendor location. She sometimes can be heard remarking about how thirsty she is and how she would like something sweet to drink ...

The 4 bottles of nectar can be handed in to her at any time to receive the Chialle Friendship Ring.

You say, 'Hail, Chialle'

Chialle says 'Hello there traveler. Please take a moment to look at my goods. I have delicious meals perfect for traveling conditions.

Chialle says 'Oh wow! This is just what I was hoping for. Thank you so much! You must be a real good friend to Saren to have her make you these, she never makes freshly squeezed nectar unless she really likes someone. You have a kind heart Khatzhana. Please take this with you as a token of my friendship.'' Chialle smiles as she hands Khatzhana a shimmering emberstone ring.
You gain experience!!

Reward is a Chialle Friendship ring. Reward: Chialle's Friendship Ring

Claw Needle (Normal): Find Tiamon Aroo, in a merchant hut along the north edge of the newbie area (/loc?).

The Sewing Needles resulting from this quest are used in Shadow Hopper combines.
Shadow Hopper Armor (Trivial 35):
Xakar Item (TEMPORARY)
Tattered item (Trivial 26)
Sewing Needle (Quested)

Need initial dialogue.

Tiamon Aroo says 'Those wretched vermin swarm to our city and trade routes in search of the refuse left by careless travelers who pass through these parts. They are just about useless and their stench brings bile to my throat. I would have set out to poison the whole lot of them if it was not for their unique [claws].'

You say, 'What claws?'

Tiamon Aroo says 'The claws of the hoppers act as a [spirit anchor]. They are specialized in tearing into the fiber of the shadow beings that roam the thicket. I find these claws useful in [binding] the silk fashioned by the [shadeweavers].'

You say, 'How are they useful in binding?'

Tiamon Aroo says 'A spirit must be bound to material from our own realm. Stones such as those used to build cities can be great anchors for spirits. The more ritual and culture that a stone is exposed to, the stronger it becomes as an anchor. You can use the claws of a hopper to sew the shadeweavers silk onto a suitable anchor. If you bring me four of these claws, I can fashion one of them into a needle for you.

You say, 'What shadeweavers?'

Tiamon Aroo says 'The shadeweavers hunt the beings of shadow found within the thicket. From them they fashion their shadow armor they call Xakra. We have tried to use this strong and lightweight armor in the past, but the shadows just disperse. I have found that sewing this armor onto a suitable [spirit anchor] will keep it from dispersing.

You say, 'What spirit anchor?'

Tiamon Aroo says 'A spirit can only materialize within our realm by binding themselves to an object that is a spirit anchor. Some bones and stones have such properties. A spirit anchor can also do the most damage to the material form of such spirits when used as a weapon. I use the claws of the hoppers as a sewing needle of sorts to [bind the silk] made by the [shadeweavers]. A standard sewing needle would only pass through the substance of the silk. The hopper claws can pierce through their ethereal fabric effectively.

You say, 'Why bind the silk?'

If you bring me four of these claws, I can fashion one of them into a needle for you.'

Hand Tiamon 4 x A Needle Thin Claw, dropped off "a needle clawed hopper."

Tiamon Aroo says 'Well done! You have brought me plenty of claws. I have enough now to make a needle for you. May it serve you well.

You gain experience!!

You receive A Claw Needle. Reward: Claw Needle

Darkened Jawbones (Normal): You say, 'Hail, Spiritist Karina'

Spiritist Karina says 'Welcome friend. Come dance by our warm fire or have a seat and [learn] a little bit about the ways of the spiritist.'

You say, 'I want to learn'

Spiritist Karina says 'We are those in tune with the spirits that surround us. Ancestral spirits with knowledge of the ancients dance around us by this very fire. They guide is through the darkness. Protect us from pain.
But a terrible [curse] has befallen the spirits of this thicket, and so it is my duty to train these young Dar Khura in order to aid in the battle that lies ahead.'

You say, 'what curse'

Spiritist Karina says 'The spirits are corrupted by foul magic. The souls of our ancestors have been twisted into an abomination known as [shades]. The corpses of long passed friends and relatives walk through the night seeking to destroy the living. We must destroy the corrupted remains of their old bodies and allow the spirits to roam free once more. Will you
help us [release the souls] of our kindred spirits?'

Spiritist Karina says 'Always pay attention to your surroundings. There are many opponents that will ambush you while you are out in the field. It is wise to take companions with you when venturing far.'

You say, 'what shades'

Spiritist Karina says 'The shades are a deeper form of corruption of the spirit. I can sense great anguish in the spirits that have been twisted into such a creation. Their horror burns my heart so deeply that I cannot bear it. I would not normally ask another to place themselves in danger,
but it is important that the souls are released from these shadowed prisons of torture and darkness. Please help us [release the souls] of our ancestral spirits.'

You say, 'I will release the souls'

Spiritist Karina says 'I am relieved that you have accepted this dangerous task. I can feel the strength of the spirit within you. There are many kindred spirits aiding us in this battle. If you are in tune with the
spiritual realm, you will find that your rituals of magic will result in aid from our spiritual allies. Return to me with the [darkened jawbones] of the lesser shades so that I may release the spirit once more.'

You say, 'what about darkened jawbones'

Spiritist Karina says 'The jawbones will aid me in tuning to the essence of the corrupted spirits. When you return to me with them, you are enabling me to place the lost soul to rest. I am able to release four of these spirits at one time in much the same way I am training these four young trainees. It is best to bring me four of them at one time if you are able.'

NOTE: Following occurs after turning in four darkened jawbones

Spiritist Karina says 'Thank you for your aid Ryvius. I will place this spirit to peaceful rest and give these remains a proper burial. It is a shame you could only return with one. It takes four of these to make a real difference. Nevertheless your efforts are appreciated. Thank you.'

...

Spiritist Karina says 'I can see that you have a brave heart. You have rescued many of the fallen spirits with little regard to your own welfare. Such selfless acts should not go unrewarded. Please take these gloves and wear them with pride. It is a symbol of [rebirth].'

Your faction standing with Guardians of Shar Vahl got better.
You gain experience!! Reward: Rebirth Leather Gloves

Garbage Collecting (Normal): You say, 'Hail, Faer Shahar'

Faer Shahar says 'Greetings friend, please mind your [garbage]. They attract the hoppers who can be a danger to our young ones.'

You say, 'What garbage?'

Faer Shahar says 'Careless travelers from Shadow Haven leave their rubbish along our roads. They attract vermin and can smell just horrid. I try my best to keep the road clean, but it seems that I cannot keep up with the filth.'

Scattered around are little brown bags, which are Stinking piles of refuse when picked up. Give four of these to Faer Shahar and he will give you the Scavenger Satchel, which is a 6 slot bag that holds giant items, and has a 2% weight reduction. Reward: Scavengers Satchel

Ghulam Armor (Normal): You say, 'Hail, Kaza Raj'

Kaza Raj says 'Ah, greetings! I am Kaza Raj, trainer of young Vah'shir! Bring me the items I ask and I will reward you with pieces of armor to protect you in your travels. I have a fine pair of [gloves] available now if you're interested.'

You say, 'What gloves?'

Kaza Raj says 'Great! Let's start with the gloves then, shall we? Gloves, yes indeed - I will give them to you if you go out and kill Cht'Thk Bloodlings. Bring me four Sharp Bloodling Mandibles as proof of your deeds.'

The Sharp Bloodling Mandibles are a somewhat uncommon no-drop item from the Cht'Thk Bloodlings in the area. It takes patience, but the gloves are probably worth it.

Kaza Raj says 'Excellent! Here are your Gloves! Would you like to get a [Bracer]?'

You say, 'What bracer?'

Kaza Raj says 'Ah yes, a Bracer, I'm sure I have one here somewhere. I'll look for it while you do me a service. Skeletal Brigands and Hunters have been endangering our young ones, seek them out and bring me four Broken Skulls!'

Actually, the skulls drop from Loda Kai Brigands, not Skeletal Brigands.

Kaza Raj says 'Excellent! Here is your Bracer! Would you like to get some [Boots]?'

You say, 'What boots?'

Kaza Raj says 'You are doing fine work, I'm so pleased to have met you! I'm confident you can help me again if you're interested. The guards have mentioned a problem with Shades roaming too near the city. I'd like to see if we can do something about that. Go and kill Lesser Shades, and bring me four Shadowed Claws and I will give you some boots as a reward!'

Kaza Raj says 'Excellent! Here are your Boots! Would you like to get some [Sleeves]?'

Turn in 4 Loda Kai Earrings to receive sleeves.

You say, 'What cap?'

Kaza Raj says 'Excellent work dispatching those Brigands! Now seek out Loda Kai thugs and return with four Insignia, I shall give you a useful cap if you serve me well!'

Kaza Raj says 'Excellent! Here is your Cap! Would you like to get some [Pants]?'

Turn in 4 Saurek Claw Beast Fangs to receive the pants.

Gor Taku Earthcaller Stones (Unsolved): You say, 'Hail, Captain Karim'

Captain Karim says 'Greetings adventurer. Pay no heed to Captain Koldar should you see him. Our true enemy are the Gor Taku. It is very apparent that they are in league with the Loda Kai Brigands. We need to show the Shak Dratha that we are not their enemy. Help me destroy the Gor Taku clan, return to me with four of their earthcaller stones and I will help supply you.'

Need all dialogues, faction hits if any, list of rewards, /loc of quest mobs, list of droppers, faction hits from killing droppers, quest item(s), etc.

Insect Carapace Shields (Normal): You say, 'Hail, Sentry Kedra Kai'

Sentry Kedra Kai says 'Well met wanderer. Pay heed to the road you chose to travel on, for there are many [hazards] you may come across no matter which direction you chose.'

You say, 'What hazards are those?'

Sentry Kedra Kai says 'The western road passes through a dangerous part of the thickets. A rivalry between the strange Tegi clans is afoot. Pay close attention, for the darker ones seem much more hostile than the ones that came before them. The Northern road passes through to the [Paludal] caverns. Once it was a rather safe trade route to the city of Shadow Haven. It has since fallen to regular brigand attacks.. We still get traders coming to sell their wares, but the journey is far more treacherous these days.'

You say, 'What is Paludal?'

Sentry Kedra Kai says 'What is Paludal? The Paludal caverns mark the trade route to Shadowhaven. A series of tunnels that burrow into the very heart of Luclin. I would be very careful of the creatures that burrow through these caverns. They are very dangerous and will show no mercy on young adventurers. If you come across these creatures bring me four different carapaces shells and I will reward you with a shield made from them.'

Give him a carapace from each of the following: a mud burrower, a muck digger, a grime tunneler, and a sediment delever. Receive experience, money, and a shield:

Rotting Jawbones (Normal): You say, 'Who is Loda Kai?'

Spiritist Karina says 'Loda Kai left Shar Vahl many years ago. He had set off for the distant city of Katta Castellum just north of the tenebrous mountains. We have not seen him since, but the brigands wear his family emblem. [Kedra Kai] has banished himself from our city in shame.'

You say, 'Who is Kedra Kai?'

Spiritist Karina says 'He stands vigil at the crossroads of the trading routes. Kedra has sworn to destroy the brigands and his brother before returning to Shar Vahl. There are many skeletal brigands within the thicket. If you are able to acquire their rotting jawbones, please bring them to me. I will try to learn what I can from the magic within them.'

Need all dialogues (these are transcriptions), /loc of quest mobs, current faction hits if any, list of rewards.
Saurek Claws (Normal): You say, 'Hail, Captain Alim'

Captain Alim says 'Have you come for training young one? The way of the Beastlord teaches many things about the forces of nature. The [forces] in the thicket are very interesting.

You say, 'what forces'

Captain Alim says 'Yes, the force that compels a creature to adjust to their surroundings in particular. The Saruek have seem to adapted to their environment very well. I am studying the effects of their claws. It seems the different [variety] of Saruek have special enhancements.

You say, 'what variety'

Captain Alim says 'Well, for example the Firefall Saruek can attack with claws that burn the flesh, the Deathmaw attack with poisonous claws, the shredder Saruek are especially skilled in fending off the Tegi that threaten them, and lastly there is a more uncommon Claw Beast that is very strong but does not appear that often. I believe I could take their claws and affix them to a weapon to [enhance] it.

You say, 'how enhance'

Captain Alim says 'If you would like to test this theory go hunt these Saurek. Bring me three claws each for Deathmaw, Firefall, and Shredder. Due to the reported size of the Claw Beast I only need his talons. Along with these claws bring me a wooden practice flail to fasten the claws to. Go now I have many trainees waiting to be taught.

Gathering claws is not an easy task. They drop quite rarely off the appropriately named hoppers in Shadeweaver’s Thicket.

The result is a 1H Blunt Weapon named after the claws you brought.

Need current dialogues, drop information, faction hits if any. Reward: Deathmaw Claw Club
Reward: Shredder Claw Club
Reward: Claw Beast Talon Club
Reward: Firefall Claw Club

Saurek Scales (Normal): You say, 'Hail, Captain Tarief

Captain Tarief says 'Well met, have you [come to aid] us in hunting the hoppers of the thicket?

You say, 'I have come to aid you

Captain Tarief says 'If you are preparing to hunt, then there are a few things you should know. Some of the hoppers have unique abilities. Knowledge of these abilities can mean the difference between life and death. I will tell you a little bit about them if you [wish to listen.]

You say, 'I wish to listen

Captain Tarief says 'A wise choice, it is good to learn all that you can of the prey before initiating the hunt. Such a tactic is vital when you set out for larger game. Learn of your prey's strengths and weaknesses and you shall have the upper hand. Saurek's may all seem similar to one another at first glance, but this is not the case. Such a mistake has left many Taruun dead. I have learned that the darkclaw saureks have venom dripping from their claws. There are a few other [unique qualities] to the saureks as well.

You say, 'What unique qualities?

Captain Tarief says 'Each of the saureks have their own unique set of scales. I am able to tell which saurek my trainees have managed to hunt successfully by the scale they return to me. Feel free to join in our lesson or the hunt. I hope that you will benefit from my advice. Hunt well Tnan.

3 types of Saurek Scales work here:

Saurek Hopper Scales = Hunting Leather Boots
Saurek Darkclaw Scales = Hunting Leather Bracer
Saurek Shredder Scales = Hunting Leather Sleeves

The Deathmaw Scales do not seem to work.

Sharp Toothed Jawbones (Normal): You say, 'What about Loda Kai?'

Spiritist Karina says 'Loda Kai left Shar Vahl many years ago. He had set off for the distant city of Katta Castellum just north of the tenebrous mountains. We have not seen him since, but the brigands wear his family emblem. [Kedra Kai] has banished himself from
our city in shame.

You say, 'Who is Kedra Kai?'

Spiritist Karina says 'He stands vigil at the
crossroads of the trading routes. Kedra has sworn to destroy the brigands and his brother before returning to Shar Vahl. There are many skeletal brigands within the thicket. If you are able to acquire their rotting jawbones, please bring them to me. I will try to learn what I can from the magic within them.

Give her 4 Sharp toothed jawbones from Skeletal Brigands

Spiritist Karina says “ Thank you for bringing these to me Chakkura” Karina closes her eyes and meditates over the jawbones for a moment “I can sense the ,ark of the [Loda Kai] within these jawbones. This is a horror, for Loda Kai was once a member of my people. I do not know how he came about these strange magical forces but it can not be good news. Please wear these sleeves for protection. You say, 'Purge the evil spirits?'

Hymnist Omiyad says 'Lately there has been a surge in the number of Loda Kai threatening our trade routes. This ritual is performed around a fire that burns from their [remains]. Setting their remains in the fire will free their tie with this world and shall ward off their numbers.'

You say, 'What remains?'

Hymnist Omiyad glances toward the fire. 'I see the fire is dying down some. Should you come across the remains of the Loda Kai bring them to me to keep the ritual fire burning. Bring plenty though, four if you can.'

The remains are dropped off of various Loda Kai. Hand in four.

Hymnist Omiyad takes the remains and throws them into the fire, flames blaze immediatey with a sicky hue. 'You have preformed a great service by helping destroy some of the wretched Lodi Kai. Whisperlings (Unsolved): (This is a long quest with a lot of TEMPORARY items involved to begin with...but it's a very fun quest with a really cool Roleplaying element...the Whisperlings! Who knows what other quests will get us "closer" to them, and be able to use their abilities.)

Tiamon Aroo is the Tailoring Merchant in the Building near the bard's camp fire in Shadeweaver's Thicket.

You say, 'Hail, Tiamon Aroo'

Tiamon Aroo says 'Greetings Astrall, watch where you step for the [needle clawed hoppers] are just about everywhere!

You say, 'what needle clawed hoppers?'

Tiamon Aroo says 'Those wretched vermin swarm to our city and trade routes in search of the refuse left by careless travelers who pass through these parts. They are just about useless and their stench brings bile to my throat. I would have set out to poison the whole lot of them if it was not for their unique [claws].

You say, 'what claws?'

Tiamon Aroo says 'The claws of the hoppers act as a [spirit anchor]. They are specialized in tearing into the fiber of the shadow beings that roam the thicket. I find these claws useful in [binding] the silk fashioned by the [shadeweavers].

(The previous part of this quest doesn't need to be done, but rather gives insight into what Groo McManus means by the "Spirit Anchor")

Groo McManus is in the White Building on the left following the road out of Shar Vahl into Shadeweavers Thicket. He's a Barbarian.
You say, 'Hail, Groo McManus'

Groo McManus says 'Greetings adventure seeker. I have come from afar to study this strange thicket. The spirits are strong within this region, but they are secretive as well. I am willing to impart my wisdom to those who will aid me in my exploration. Are you [interested?]

You say, 'I am interested'

Groo McManus says 'Very well then! Let us begin. First you must attune yourself with the nature of spirits. For this you must learn to find a spiritual anchor. Find such a thing within the crater that surrounds Shar Vahl and return it to me. Then we may continue. I cannot tell you more, but there is a Vah Shir who has the knowledge that you seek. Seek him out in this thicket to learn what you can.

Give GrooMcManus the "A Needle Thin Claw"

Groo McManus says 'Excellent! You have done well. I can sense that you are in tune with the spirits around you. Take this, for you will need it in your next task. When you are [ready] for your next lesson let me know.

You gain experience!!

You say, 'I am ready'

Groo McManus says 'You have learned a fraction of the nature of the spirit. To exist within our realm they must become a part of our realm by binding themselves within material. The hoplings claws have evolved to tear spirits from their material anchors. A disrupted anchor will normally send a spirit to the planes in which they belong, but sometimes the spirit becomes lost. This has happened within the crater that surrounds Shar Vahl. We must do what we can to [help] the lost spirit. The lost spirit had found the nearest anchor to take refuge in when its own anchor was destroyed. The spirit now lies trapped within the very claws of the hopling that had tried to destroy it. Will you help?

Groo McManus says 'Near the south bridge of Shar Vahl city, a mysterious rock formation hangs precariously within the crater. When you have arrived, you stand beneath the rock and call to the wind, speak the word 'Lumanes', be sure to clear all thoughts from your mind when doing so. If we are not too late, a kindred spirit will speak with you. Take your discoveries to my friend Shavra in the crater, she will know what to do.

(Again, doesn't need to be done, but who can say no to free experience?)

Your Location is -852.56, 890.03, -343.91
You say, 'Hail, Dar Khura Shavra'

Dar Khura Shavra says 'Lo there wanderer. Something is amiss within the region, have you not felt it? I sense a [whisperling] nearby.

You say, 'what whisperling?'

Dar Khura Shavra says 'A whisperling, who brings us dreams, you cannot see them. They do no harm, but I sense anger in them. They have made an enemy. If you are willing to aid us in our research, please seek Groo McManus in the shadeweavers thicket, he has some insight on these whisperlings.

The Whisperling can be called (not found, but called) under the glowing rock formation NEG580, POS560
Sit and say "Lumanes"

You say, 'Lumanes'

a whisperling speaks softly, 'Lumanes Astrall, Our cousin, a spirit of frost, is trapped. We may not intervene. Only one of flesh may aid us. Are you one [able to help]? '

You say, 'I am able to help'

a whisperling speaks softly, 'Then we thank you. We will lure it here. But beware, it uses our cousins strength to protect itself.'

A frost covered hopling attacks

He has about 30 Hitpoints, hits for 1 damage 99% of the time, Burst of Flames (not often) for 4 damage
But, I couldn't do much more than 1 damage to him 90% of the time, and did maybe 3 and 6 the other 2 times I did do more than 1 damage. In other words, VERY easy fight.

You have slain a frost covered hopling!

(Note: The frost covered hopling can be summoned any time by saying "Lumanes" in that spot! It's basically a newbie Monster Generator! I got experience at 4, and with the easy fight, he can be killed over and over for experience. Hopefully Verant doesn't realize this and change it -=| )

Go back to Shavra (who is very close) and give her the "A Frosted Claw"

Dar Khura Shavra says 'Oh Astrall! This is a whisperling, and she is beautiful! You must find a way to free her of this anchor. Take her to Ragnar, he may know what to do. Let me put her in this bag to keep her safe for now.

Your faction standing with Guardians of Shar Vahl got better.
You gain experience!!

You get a "Frost Bag" from her. It's a 0.0 NO TRADE object

Spiritist Ragnar is in the Var Shal Alchemy Shop west of the Bank

You say, 'Hail, Spiritist Ragnar'

Spiritist Ragnar says 'Well hello... How may I help you?

Give the Frost Bag to Spirit Ragnar

Spiritist Ragnar says 'Eh? What have we here?'' Ragnar examines the frosted claw carefully. He closes his eyes and begins to chant while holding the claw cupped between his hands. As he opens his eyes he nods at you and begins to speak. ''You have done well to bring her here Astrall. This is a whisperling, her name is Siver. She is very young, so it is hard for me to understand her. From what I gather, she has an important task to fulfill, but I am still unsure what that task may be. Please take her with you for now, I think that is her wish. Perhaps Grawleh will be able to assist us further, and maybe even find a more suitable anchor for her. I think it would be wise to show her to him.

You gain experience!!
You also get Claw of Frost.

(Claw of Frost - NO TRADE/TEMPORARY - Primary Piercing - DMG:3 DLY:25 SV COLD: +1)
TEMPORARY!

Elder Spiritist Grawleh examines the contents of the bag carefully. This is no ordinary spirit Astrall. It is a whisperling, a bringer of dreams. You are quite lucky, I think she will go with you. She will be able to protect you from cold magic. If you need more protection you can call on her to help you endure the cold. This is how the Dar Khura weave their spells, we ask the spirits for their aid. This scroll will show you how to call on her for her protection. You will also need to construct her a more suitable spirit anchor. This claw will not contain her much longer. Please hurry to Ragnar with the claw and a fresh [bloodling carapace]. It may buy us some time before she fades away.

You gain experience!!
He gives back "Siver's Claw"
(Siver's Claw - NO TRADE/TEMPORARY - Primary Piercing - DMG:3 DLY:23 DEX:+1 SV COLD: +1)
TEMPORARY!

You may also receive a minor spell.

You say, 'what bloodling Carapace?'
(I may have done something wrong like cancelled the conversation, because he didn't answer about the carapaces, but they drop from "a Cht`Thk bloodling" in Shadeweaver's Thicket newbie area...you may want to collect 8 in total, you'll need 7 more later. You've been warned.)

Bring Spiritist Ragnar a "Bloodling Carapace" and the Claw of Frost.

Spiritist Ragnar says 'Well done Astrall, I hope it isnt too late.'' Ragnar begins to chant over the carapace and the claw, holding each in opposite hands. A soft light travels from the claw to the carapace as the claw turns to dust. Ragnar opens his eyes and begins to speak, ''It has worked, but all we have done is buy ourselves more time. While you were away, I have been speaking to Master Barkhem. He has a shield frame that can support these carapaces. You will need to craft such a shield by including this carapace and into the frame along with enough to fill each slot. You are doing quite well young Astrall, Siver has grown a little stronger. You can make use of her innate dexterity by weaving this spell.''

Spiritist Ragnar Ragnar hands Astrall a scroll before he continues to speak. ''When you have completed the construction of the shield, return it to me and I will strengthen the anchor.''

Your faction standing with Guardians of Shar Vahl got better.
You gain experience!!

He gives you a Strengthen Scroll (bug?) and a "Frosted Carapace".
It's only a 0.0 NO TRADE item! You can actually pause at this part of the quest! (but why would you want to?)

Master Barkhem is in the Armory to the North of the Pool in front of the Palace
(I believe his Loc is "202.18, -167.21, -187.62")

Master Barkhem tells you, 'That'll be 3 gold 2 silver 4 copper for the Carapace Shield Frame'.

Buy the Carapace Shield Frame (this quest makes me wonder what else can be put in this frame)

Now head to Shadeweavers and get ready for a long time of running around and killing Cht`Thk bloodlings. The carapace is a pretty uncommon(rare?) drop. This may take over an hour.

Place the "Frosted Carapace" in the Carapace Shield Frame along with 7 Bloodling Carapaces and combine. You'll get a "Dull Frostweavers Shield!"
(Dull Frostweavers Shield - AC 3 DEX: +1 SV COLD:+3 5.0 wt SHM BST)

Ragnar said he'd make the shield stronger when you brought it back to him, so do that. Give the Dull Frostweavers Shield to Spirit Ragnar back in the Alchemy Shop.

Spiritist Ragnar says 'Nicely done Astrall. This anchor should be sufficient to keep Siver bound to this realm for a while. She is strong enough to blind your enemies with a bright flash of light now, all you have to do is call on her spirit. I still cannot make complete sense of her thoughts, I think she is trying to tell me of another whisperling entrapped within the crater. Keep an eye open for the whisperling Scorpialis.

(Scorpialis is a weapon from the TailFang Quest. I don't know if he's just giving you info on a seperate quest, or if he wants you to finish that too)

Spiritist Ragnar says 'In the meantime, you can seek out a shield made of Xakra. Xakra made of the ethereal fabric of the spirit realm. I know the Shak Dratha within the thicket are weavers of this rare form of shadow silk. Such a shield can help us strengthen the anchor, making it easier for Siver to aid you. It will also improve her health greatly. She has been through a lot and is in rather poor condition as it stands now.
Your faction standing with Guardians of Shar Vahl got better.
You gain experience!!
You also gained the stronger version of the Frostweavers Shield
(Frostweavers Shield - AC:4 DEX+1 SVCOLD+4 MAGIC NO TRADE)

(This appears to be the next part of the quest, but is still unsolved from what I hear)
