Quests for Rivervale

Blackburrow Stout (Normal): You say, 'Hail, Rueppy Kutpurse'

Rueppy Kutpurse says, 'Hello, (Player). Rueppy's my name. Why don't you buy us something to [drink] and we can talk?'

You say, 'drink'

Rueppy Kutpurse says, 'How about a short beer? That sounds good.'

Rueppy Kutpurse says, 'Oh, thank you. AH! That sure is good. Not as good as a [Blackburrow stout], but what is?'
You gain experience!

You say, 'Blackburrow stout'

Rueppy Kutpurse says, 'Blackburrow Stout is a special beer brewed by those dirty gnolls, the Sabertooths. Of course to get it here in Rivervale, you have to [smuggle] it in.'

You say, 'smuggle'

Rueppy Kutpurse says, 'You need to prove your dedication to our cause before I can discuss such matters with you.'

You say, 'smuggle'

Rueppy Kutpurse says, 'You interested in a little job? I need you to meet someone who is bringing me some stout. He was supposed to meet me in the ruins on the other side of the Great Wall, but I have other business to attend to. His name is Gunrich. You might have to wait for a while for him to show up, as he will be skittish at the sight of a stranger. Payment has already been made. Just tell him, 'Dark rivers flow east,' and he will know to trust you. Make sure you don't say anything else to him or the deal will sour. Meet me back here with the stout.'

Now you have to go to the ruins on the other side of the great wall, find Gungrich, and tell him that Dark Rivers Flow East. The ruins are the undead hill on the other side of the wall in Misty Thicket. When you say this to Gunrich, he gives you a case of blackburrow stout. Take the case back to Rueppy Kutpurse and she gives you some small change and experience.

Rueppy Kutpurse says, 'Heh heh! You did it! I thought the deputies would get you for sure! I mean... You did it! Heh! Here buy yourself a drink on me.'

[Thu Feb 06 16:02:30 2003] You say, 'I am willing to defend the commoners'

Kaya Cloudfoot says 'You have made an honorable decision, Fynder. First you will need to be outfitted in a suit of armor to protect you from the weapons of our foes. Seek Jimji Bottletoe here in Rivervale and give him this letter. Jimji will instruct you further on acquiring a suit of armor worthy of a new Knight of the Storm Reapers. When you have been outfitted in your Bravefoot Armor return to me and I shall prepare you for your [next task].'

You say, 'What is the next task'

Kaya Cloudfoot says 'The Teir'Dal, or Dark Elves that reside in the underground city of Neriak to the east beyond the Commonlands have long been a bane to us Storm Reapers. Many of our Druids have fallen attempting to hold back the tide of hate and destruction that has taken hold on the Nektulos Forest and threatens the surrounding lands. It was also the Teir`Dals patron God, Innorruuk, who caused the [Curse of Bloody Kithicor]. Are you ready to [face the Teir'Dal] and bloody your hands for the protection of your Shire and our commoners humble way of life?'

You say, 'What curse of bloody kithicor'

Kaya Cloudfoot says 'There was a great war that was fought not long ago between the Teir'Dal, and their evil minions, and the armies of Felwithe, Qeynos, Freeport, and Kaladim. In the Kithicor Woods the Daughter of Innoruuk, Lanys T'Vyl, and her minions fought against the chosen of Tunare, Firiona Vie, and her most loyal allies. The evil God of Hate, Innoruuk, intervened every living creature in the Kithicor Woods instantly fell dead as a great rift to the Plane of Hate appeared in the sky. Since that time, when night falls on the Kithicor Woods blood seeps from the trees and ground and the hateful dead hunt any living being who dares to trespass in the woods that ended their lives.'

You say, 'I am ready to face the Teir'Dal'

Kaya Cloudfoot says 'Some days ago one of our Storm Reapers, a ranger by the name of Botim Bonker, ventured into the Kithicor Forest at daybreak on a routine patrol and never returned. That night his bloodied tunic was found hanging on a fence post of Tagglefoots Farm. The blood was dried and many hours old. We believe that he was slain during the day and that deduction coupled with the fact the undead of Kithicor do not leave the woods nor possess the intelligence or means to sneak into Rivervale and leave the tunic where it would surely be found by fellow Storm Reapers led us to believe they were not responsible. We believe it was the work of the Teir'Dal. Search the Kithicor Woods by daylight and punish the Teir'Dal responsible. Return with the villains severed hands as proof of his death.'

Upon turn in of 'Severed Teir'Dal hand':

Kaya Cloudfoot says, 'You have done well, Knobinshu. The Teir'Dal must learn that there are those among us Halflings who are willing to do what we must for the defense of our more humble commoners. Take this Dull Bravefoot Short Sword to the forge at Tagglefoot's Farm and sharpen it with a sharpening stone. It may take several attempts if you are unfamiliar with the process. Once that is done, present the blade and a large snake skin to Bodbin Gimple and he will put the finishing touches on the sword.'

Uner Gnarltrunk says, 'Hello there, _____. Please watch where you are stepping when you're out in the field. Nothing is more frustrating than having some fine jumjum ruined by our own careless feet. That reminds me, [Deputy Tagil] still owes us for that jumjum he stomped on the other day!'

You say, 'Deputy Tagil'
Uner Gnarltrunk says, 'Deputy Tagil is a fine young halfling who serves the vale well. But the other day, chasing that dirty Nillipuss, he trampled some fresh Jumjum. He promised to make amends, but it must have slipped his mind. Please take this note to him as a friendly reminder.'

Exterminate the Vermin (Rivervale) (Normal): You say, 'Hail, Exterminator Sutten'

Exterminator Sutten says 'Hi there, ______! Think you could help me out a bit? I was hired to get rid of all these pesky rodents running around town but there seems to be no end to them! They are ruining the jumjum field and worse yet, if I don't get rid of them all, my boss won't give me the muffins he promised me! Think you could hunt some of the rodents down and bring me back four rat whiskers? I would pay you of course!'

[There are many of "A Rodent" roaming around town. Kill them until you've acquired four "Rat Whiskers," and turn these in to Sutten unstacked.]

Exterminator Sutten says 'Nice work! Take these coins. Oh no, there are still more rodents! I better get to work. Farewell, friend!'

Extraordinary Rodents (Normal): This is a Short task, given by Ace Slighthand, who may be found on the second floor of the Fool's Gold building at -65, -190, +17.

'It's no small wonder that the locals are skittsh. There have been reports of some monsters lurking about that are a threat to not only the people, but the livestock and the supplies as well. You're going to need to help give them back a little piece of mind. To do that, you're going to kill 10 giant thicket rats. Remember, they're threatening the supplies, so be sure to loot four Rat Whiskers (plain rat whiskers, or giant rat whiskers, or giant field rat whiskers?), while you're out there. The locals are counting on you.'

Go to the Misty Thicket, kill 10 giant thicket rats and loot four rat whiskers.

'Your help in getting rid of those mongrels is more appreciated than you know. There's just one thing left for you to do though, and that's to deliver four Rat Whiskers to Swish Appletop. I'm sure getting some additional supplies will be a relief.'

Reward: 7 gold, 2 silver, 2 copper, experience (how much?).
Going Postal (Rivervale to Freeport) (Normal): Silna Songsmith is found at 149.75, -150.00, 3.21.

You say, 'Hail, Silna Songsmith'

Silna Songsmith says 'Hail, ______ - Are you [interested] in helping the League of Antonican Bards by delivering some [mail]?'

You say, 'What mail?'

Silna Songsmith says 'The League of Antonican Bards has a courier system made up of travelers and adventurers. We pay good gold to anyone who will take messages from bards such as myself to one of our more central offices. Are you [interested]?'

You say, 'I am interested.'

Silna Songsmith says 'I have messages that need to go to - well, right now I have one that needs to go to Freeport. Will you [deliver] mail to [Freeport] for me?'

You say, 'I will deliver mail to Freeport.'

Silna Songsmith says 'Take this letter to Felisity Starbright. You can find her at the bard guild hall. I'm sure she will compensate you for your trouble.'

You receive a Bardic Letter (Freeport).

Find Felisity Starbright in East Freeport at -1082, -940, 14, on the bottom floor of the bard guild behind the performance stage in the southeast of the zone. Give her the letter.

Mail Delivery Challenge: You are one step closer to earning the respect of the League of Antonican Bards! You have delivered 1 out of 18 pieces of mail!
Guise of Horror (Normal): During the Rogue Epic 1.5, you receive two of Shakey's Dilapitated Noggins. The noggin is used for the Guise of Horror scarecrow illusion quest.

If you talk to Reebo Leafsway after obtaining the noggin, he will more or less brush you off:

Reebo Leafsway says 'You took care of our problem, _____, and for that you have my eternal thanks. With the new head you supplied, we should be able to squeeze a few more years out of Shakey. Not sure what you'd want to do with the old one. That dilapidated pumpkin is worthless. Moldy, dried out . . . doesnt hold a light.' He shrugs empahtically. " Go ahead and hold onto the thing if that tickles your fancy, though. may Karana watch over you in your travels!"

The Millers in West Karana, on the other hand, have a few interesting things to say. Henina Miller may be found at -2700, -5600.

You say, 'What scarecrows?'

Henina Miller says 'Yep, those scarecrows are snarky. I've told Cleet more than a few times that I'd like to cook their heads into a pie, but he won't let me get near them. Oh, there was a recipe book that the Hutchison's gave us as a gift that described how to bake five different wisp lightstones into a scarecrow head to make it glow. Ah well.'

So, in order to "bake" your Guise of Horror, you must kill five flighty wisps found throughout Norrath. Each of them is spawned once you enter their respective zones with Shakey's Noggin in your inventory.

They are trackable, move a little bit faster than bard speed, and remain up for about 10 minutes. They hit in the 1200s and are killable with a competent melee/healer combination.

When you enter a zone with the noggin on your character, you will be greeted with a message:

Out of the corner of your eye, you catch a glimpse of a brightly colored wisp as it darts by. It's moving at an incredible speed.

Seek out the wisp and kill it.

Flighty Rose Wisp in Befallen
Found: First room on your right upon zoning in.
Drops: Pulsing Rose Lightstone

Flighty Azure Wisp in North Karana
Drops: Radiant Azure Lightstone

Flighty Orange Wisp in Stonebrunt Mountains
Drops: Shimmering Orange Lightstone

Flighty Violet Wisp in the Swamp of No Hope
Drops: Glimmering Violet Lightstone

Flighty Viridian Wisp in the Plane of Growth
Drops: Reflective Viridian Lightstone

Find a baking oven. Combine the five lightstones and noggin inside. This will result in a Guise of Horror, your scarecrow illusion mask. Reward: Guise of Horror

Halfling Cultural Armor (DoN) (Normal): Click here for an overview of cultural armor introduced with Dragons of Norrath.

Find Bill Whistletop at location -283 -123 -17.50 (one of the smithing buildings).

You say, 'Hail, Bill Whistletop'

Bill Whistletop says 'Hi-oh there, _____. You startled me. I'm busy compiling notes for my compendium; it'll be a complete [history] or Rivervale for an entire century. Imagine that!'

You say, 'What history?'

Bill Whistletop says 'Well, it's not really a history book, not exactly. It's more like I just sit around and write about whatever's [going on] in Rivervale at the moment. I've been doing this for thirty seven years now, so, um, hey, I'm almost half done!'

You say, 'So, what has been going on?'

Bill Whistletop says 'Yeah, I write down everything: fishing trips, crop yields, new card games I pick up. Hmm, I guess it's more of a journal then a history book. . . Oh well, it's still chalk full of historical [significance].'

You say, 'What kind of significance?'

Bill Whistletop says 'Heck yes, I write down everything so some of it has got to be important. For example, I copied down all those [armor patterns] and [cultural symbol patterns] that were displayed during that spring festival eleven years ago. You know the one where we had that competition to see who could make the best suit of armor! Boy, that was a great festival. The apple tarts were amazing. I'm glad I wrote down the recipe for those too!'

You say, 'What armor patterns?'

Bill Whistletop says 'Oh, you're interested in the armor, huh? I guess you do look like the adventuring sort. Well, heck, I can make you an armor pattern book if you want? I have all the designs written down and recorded somewhere in one of my journals; all I'll need is the materials for the pattern book itself. Just bring me a cat skull cap for the cover, a fractured femur for the spine, a minotaur horn for the clasp, and a bunch of optic nerves to grind down and make a salve, which will protect and preserve the finished product. I hear these items can be found in the Runnyeye Goblin territory and the Beholder's Maze, but I'm not really sure? Anyway, once I have those, I can make you a pattern book. Hey, then we can go fishing!'

Obtain your Ancestral Book: Turn in a cat skull cap, fractured femur, a minotaur horn, and a bunch of optic nerves.

Bill Whistletop says 'Oh, hey there, Dryssa. I'm still working on my history book. In fact, I just wrote down the part where we first met. Here let me read it for you!' Bill clears his throat, 'Ahem, so I was writing my history book when Dryssa comes up to me and says 'Hail.' And so I reply. . .' Bill continues to ramble on for many minutes. Finally, he gets to the end of his journal and looks up. He blinks as though surprised that you are still here. 'Oh, yeah, the armor pattern book. Sorry, I forgot about that. Here you go!'

Receive Ancestral Halfling Armor Book.

You say, 'What cultural symbol patterns?'

Bill Whistletop says 'You're interested in the cultural symbol patterns I see. I can give you a book of cultural symbol patterns but I will need you to run a few tasks for me before I can give them to you. What do you say; would you like to run a few short [tasks] for me?'

You say, 'I will do your tasks.'

Bill Whistletop says 'I have four tasks that need to be completed. The first is an adventure into [Beholder's Maze] where you will clear a path for young Halflings so they can make a safe passage through the maze to East Karana. The next you will be tasked with venturing into the heart of [the Hole] where you hunt for some ingredients for my drip clock. The third task leads you into [Karnor's Castle] where you will collect bone specimen for my collection. The final task you will adventure into [Stillmoon temple] and learn about the creatures that inhabit the area.'

You say, 'I will go to the Beholder's Maze.'

You say, 'Who is starving?'

You say, 'I will take the turnips.'

Jillin's Stew (Normal): This text is given after you complete the quest for Reebo's Carrots.

Blinza Toepopal says '[Jillin]? Jillin? Where did he go? Hrumph!'

You say, 'Who is Jillin?'

You say, 'Who is Kevlin?'

Ace Slighthand says 'Kevlin Diggs. His family sells armor here in Rivervale. He has a nice shop right across from us here. But he owes us Deeppockets some [gold] that we need to collect. We can't rough him up because he is a friend of Mayor Gubbin. We need someone to steal it.'

You say, 'What gold?'

Ace Slighthand says 'He keeps his money in a sack on his bed. But he has a mean pet wolf, named Mangler, who mangled the last cutpurse we sent after it. If you were to wait until he leaves his shop, then sneak past Mangler and bring me the money he owes us, I will make it worth your time.'

Kevlin's Bride (Unsolved): Not sure where this leads if anywhere, but it's an interesting storyline. Hail Kevlin Diggs and ask him about Sonsa Fromp. He will tell you that he used to be married to her, but that she shamed his family by cheating his customers. Hail Sonsa and she will tell you that in actuality, left her for "that trollop", Lashinda Hoggletop. Talking to Meeka Diggs, and she will confirm that Lashinda is Kevlin's new bride, and tell you that she likes her. Ask Kevlin's brother Twippie Diggs about Lashinda though and he will tell you that he thinks she is cheating on him with a dwarf, of all things, named Lindo, who supposedly hangs out at that famed theive's hangout The Fool's Gold. I assume you need to find Lindo or Lashinda to continue this love story. I don't know if it leads anywhere or is just a fun way to kill time in Rivervale.

You say, 'Hail, Kevlin Diggs'

Kevlin Diggs says, 'Greetings, Rcme! Welcome to my shop! We have many fine wares. The Diggses of Rivervale have always supplied halflings and travelers with the finest armor. I advise you to purchase armor only from Kevlin's Gear and not to be conned into buying from Sonsa Fromp.'

You say, 'Who is Sonsa Fromp'

Kevlin Diggs says, 'I used to be wed to Sonsa Fromp. She shamed the Diggs name by cheating my customers. She would charge my customers double! I am sure she is still doing the same, but it is done without the Diggs name. Good riddance!'

You say, 'Who is Twippie'

Kevlin Diggs says, 'Twippie Diggs is my youngest sibling. He handles all the sales of leather armor.'

You say, 'who is Meeka'

Kevlin Diggs says, 'Meeka Diggs is my younger sister. She is also in the family business. She deals with all the cloth armor.'

You say, 'Who is Lashinda Hoggletop'

Kevlin Diggs says, 'Ahh... Lashinda... She is my new love. She works over at the Fool's Gold.'

You say, 'Hail, Sonsa Fromp'

Sonsa Fromp says, 'Hello, traveler. It is so good to meet you. I am Sonsa Fromp, tailor supreme. I have been known to make the finest leather armor this side of the wall. Feel free to inspect my merchandise. Buy plenty. This is how I put food on the table.'

You say, 'Who is Kelvin Diggs'

Sonsa Fromp says, 'Oooh! Do not speak that name in this burrow! He used to be my husband. Now he has left me for that trollop, Lashinda Hoggletop!'

You say, 'Who is Lashinda Hoggletop'

Sonsa Fromp says, 'Never mention that name in this burrow!'

You say, 'Hail, Meeka Diggs'

Meeka Diggs says, ''Hello, Rcme - my how you've grown! Would you perhaps care to see my cloth armor for sale?' Her eyes twinkle. 'Maybe you'd like to hear a little about the traditional halfling craft of [bagmaking]?''

You say, 'Who is Kevlin Diggs'

Meeka Diggs says, 'Kevlin is my brother. Our family has been in the armor business for many years.'

You say, 'Who is Sonsa Fromp'

Meeka Diggs says, 'Oh, my! Do not mention that name to me! She used to be wed to my older brother, Kevlin. All I can say about her is that she would make a better rogue than a tailor.'

You say, 'Who is Lashinda Hoggletop'

Meeka Diggs says, 'She is my brother Kevlin's bride. She is very nice. She works at the Fool's Gold, but when she has time she will help out with the shop by cleaning up or taking the day's profit over to the vault in the Guardian Stronghold.'

You say, 'Who is Twippie'

Meeka Diggs says, 'Twippie Diggs is my younger brother. He sells armor also. His specialty is leather armor.'

You say, 'Hail, Twippie Diggs'

Twippie Diggs says, ''What a lovely day it is, Rcme! You look rather sunburned!' Twippie winks at you. 'I've some fine leather armor for sale today, or perhaps I could bend your ear with a little [learning]?''

You say, 'Who is Kevlin'

Twippie Diggs says, 'Kevlin is my older brother. Together with my sister, Meeka, we run Kevlin's Gear, the number one dealers in armor in Rivervale. Well, the only armorer in Rivervale. Not counting Sonsa Fromp. Ahh... Beautiful Sonsa Fromp...'

You say, 'Who is Meeka'

Twippie Diggs says, 'Meeka Diggs is my older sister. She primarily deals with cloth armor.'

You say, 'Who is Sonsa Fromp'

Twippie Diggs says, 'Sonsa Fromp used to be married to my older brother Kevlin. She accidentally overcharged a customer once and my brother used that as an excuse to take the name of Diggs away from her so he could wed Lashinda Hoggletop. Now poor, beautiful Sonsa must charge a fortune for leather items just to make ends meet.'

You say, 'Who is Lashinda Hoggletop'

Twippie Diggs says, 'Lashinda Hoggletop? She is the new bride of my older brother, Kevlin. She works at the Fool's Gold. I don't like her much. I think she is cheating on my brother. I have seen her hanging around a traveling merchant named Lindo. He is a dwarf and frequents the Fool's Gold a lot at night. I could have sworn I saw them holding hands.'

Could not find Lashinda Hoggletop or Lindo.
Leatherfoot Raiders (Normal): Marshal Anrey may be found on the second floor of the bank in a nook in the southwest corner, at 100, -135, 40.

You say, 'Hail, Marshal Anrey'

Marshal Anrey says 'Stand at attention!! You don't look fit enough to toe-wrestle my grandma!! You cannot be in my squad!! Are you [petitioning] or are you a [visitor]?'

You say, 'I am a visitor.'

Marshal Anrey says 'Well, why didn't you say so?! Forgive me for hollering. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Marshal Anrey Leadladle, commander of the [Leatherfoot Raiders].'

You say, 'I am petitioning.'

Marshal Anrey says 'So you want to be a [Leatherfoot Raider]? What kind of joke is this? Look at you! You're a mess! Where are you [from]?'

You say, 'Who are the Leatherfoot Raiders?'

Marshal Anrey says 'You must be a visitor. The Leatherfoot Raiders are the elite force of the Guardians of the Vale. I command them. It is good to meet an outsider.'

You say, 'I am from Rivervale.'

Marshal Anrey says 'So you're from Rivervale?!! You must be some kind of freak. No halfling from Rivervale would look, smell and act anything like you. Well, freak, if you think you're stout enough to be a Leatherfoot Raider, you prove it!! You travel the lands and return to me a polar bear skin, a grizzly bear skin, a shark skin and an alligator skin. Then maybe, just maybe, I will let you wear the cap of a Leatherfoot Raider.'

Alligator Skin comes from alligators in Innothule Swamp.

After handing Marshal Anrey the skins:

Marshal Anrey says, 'So I see the young troll has become a young warrior. You have stepped up to the challenge of the Leatherfoot Raiders, you may wear the petitioner's skullcap, but to receive the true cap of the raiders, bring me the dirk of a fallen Neriak dragoon and the cap I have given you. Hibbs Rootenpaw says 'Hello! I am Hibbs Rootenpaw, Master Druid of the Storm Reapers. If you have not yet ventured beyond Rivervale beware of the [dangers] that lurk through out the lands beyond our shire. There are many evil beings that would not hesitate to end the life of a young druid of the Storm Reapers. '

You say, 'What Dangers'

Hibbs Rootenpaw says 'The Teir'Dal, or Dark Elves, to the east have slain a number of brave Storm Reapers that are attempting to cleanse the Nektulos Forest of the corruption caused by the Teir'Dals evil magics. To the west, the human farmers in the Plains of Karana are beset upon by vicious tribes of Gnolls and must valiantly defend their farms. Closer to home the Death Fist Orcs and Goblin Clans Runnyeye and Pick Claws all attempt to control the Misty Thicket and chop down its sturdy trees for lumber. If you are planning on leaving the safety of Rivervale I advise you to deliver this note to Bartle Barnick. He will help you get yourself outfitted for survival in the wilds. When he has outfitted you in a suit of protective leather return here for [further instruction]. '

You say, 'Further instructions.'

Hibbs Rootenpaw says 'If you feel you are ready for the responsibility of an important task then you may assist with the [investigation] of the ancient cursed fields in the Misty Thicket. The crumbling walls that surround the cursed fields are believed to have been constructed around the same time as the ruined tower and the great wall of Cetelt. We Storm Reapers believe that the walls once surrounded beautiful and fruitful gardens. The arrogance of the caretaker of the gardens offended the Gods and in turn the gardens were cursed with disease and an evil power that animates the corpses of the dead. The Scarecrow, Old Gourdhead, stands in one of these two fields and warns passers by that it is an accursed place. Recently someone has been placing rats in the fields to become diseased. '

*Hand note to Bartle Barnick*

Bartle Barnick says 'It is good to see another of our young people choose the humble life of a druid of Karana. You say, 'What investigation?'

Hibbs Rootenpaw says 'We Storm Reapers are searching for the culprit that is seeding the cursed fields with the diseased and undead creatures. The person responsible has committed great offenses to the ways of Karana and the people of Rivervale and must be stopped. Should you identify the individual responsible slay them and bring their head to me and you shall be rewarded for your deed. It is a shame that our otherwise peaceful lives must occasionally be interrupted by the necessity for bloodshed.'

The culprit is Rusbek the Inhospitable, who may be found in the southeast corner of Misty Thicket. Kill him and loot Rusbek's Head, which you then give to Hibbs Rootenpaw.

Hibbs Rootenpaw says 'Excellent work young Storm Reaper. It is sad that one of our own would resort to such vile acts; his mind must have been twisted by evil desires. Such behavior is practically unheard of among the kind people of Rivervale. Take this dull scimitar and sharpen it in the forge here at the Tagglefoots Farm with a sharpening stone. It may take several attempts if you are unfamiliar with the process. Once that is done give the sharpened scimitar and a large fruit bat wing to Bodbin Gimple and he will put the finishing touches on what will be a fitting scimitar for a Druid of the Storm Reapers.'

You say, 'What crops?'

Reebo Leafsway says 'The crops we grow here are mostly carrots, lettuce and squash. We also are the only place on all of Norrath where the soil can support the mystical Jumjum Stalk.'

You say, 'What about Nillipuss?'

Reebo Leafsway says 'Nillipuss? Oh that dirty brownie keeps stealing our jumjum for his own greedy uses. We certainly would not mind if someone taught him a painful [lesson].'

You say, 'What lesson?'

Reebo Leafsway says 'He needs to be taught not to steal our jumjum! If you find some jumjum on him, I would appreciate it if you would return it to me.'

Nillipuss shouts 'Nillipuss, Nillipuss is my name. Stealing jumjum is my game. Think you can catch me? Let's see if you can! I'll always run faster than you ever ran.'

Attack him and kill him.

You may need to kill him four times for the four Jumjum Stalks. Bring the four items to Reebo:

Reebo Leafsway says 'Oh good! I see you have taught that nasty Nillipuss a thing or two! Good. But it seems to me that he has stolen more jumjum than this. Perhaps he needs another lesson?'

Proudfoot Platemail Armguards (Normal): Dalorio is located in the same building as the bank, in the room around the corner with the long table.

You say, 'Hail, Dalorio Blistbobble'

Dalorio Blistbobble says 'Zonkers! You scared me! Well it is good to meet you nonetheless young Lobracawen. Many young Guardians of the Vale often come to me for guidance. If there is something I can help you with in your training you make sure you let Dalorio know! In the meanwhile I will be working on my [trade].'

You say, 'What trade?'

Dalorio Blistbobble says 'Well you see Lobracawen, I have been an aspiring blacksmith for quite sometime now. I have spent mostly all of my spare time since I was just a wee whipper snapper like yourself collecting different materials and trying to craft anything and everything of value in our town forge. Blacksmithing has always interested me and that interest is exactly what led to the creation of my [special recipes].'

You say, 'What special recipes?'

Dalorio Blistbobble says 'Well it's funny that you ask Lobracawen, I have just recently perfected my smithing recipes for Proudfoot Platemail. I would be willing to part with my recipe along with a mold for each piece of this fine platemail to any apprentice willing to [collect the necessary items] to craft it.'

You say, 'I will collect the necessary items.'

I must admit that you could really use some armor because it can get quite dangerous out in the thicket! Now back to business! To craft your own Proudfoot Platemail you will need my magical assembly kit that you will combine the items I ask you to gather for specific recipes. After you have done this you will use the pattern I give you along with the material you have fashioned and combine it in a forge to yield your armor piece. Now are you [ready to get started]? '

Inside this magical assembly kit you will combine certain items collected both from the thicket and our great city of Rivervale. It is my hope that while you progress in your training and through the different armor pieces that you will be able to learn of your surroundings both inside and outside the Vale. If you are ready to start fashioning your items simply tell me what armor piece you [want] to make. I have the recipe for Proudfoot Platemail [Helms], [Bracers], [Armguards], [Boots], [Greaves], [Gauntlets] and [Breastplates]. As a side note, make sure you craft your Breastplate last due to the difficulty of collecting the items for it.

You say, 'I want to make armguards.'

Dalorio Blistbobble says 'Been taking a few too many blows on the arms there Lobracawen? Well I can certainly understand any Halflings need for some armguards. Round up 3 Bricks of Crude Iron Ore, 2 Rat Whiskers, 2 Mossy Rat Pelts and 1 Wolf Meat then combine them in your kit. Once you have made the Proudfoot Armguards Material take it to a forge and combine it together with this mold to fashion your Proudfoot Platemail Armguards.' Reward: Proudfoot Platemail Armguards

Dalorio Blistbobble says 'Well you see we have been invaded by the Runnyeye goblins many times before Legslayer. However lately there have been more and more attacks on our homeland with every attack being that much more brutal and savage then the attack before. I need a brave halfling who is willing to [seek retribution] on these goblins and show them who is boss once and for all. '

You say, 'I will seek retribution.'

Dalorio Blistbobble says 'I knew I could count on you young Legslayer. As each day goes by more and more bloodthirsty orcs set up camp in the thicket. They are working together with the goblins of Runnyeye through some twisted alliance brought forth by Lord Pickclaw to mount an attack on Rivervale. I strongly feel that this attack may be more then we can handle. If we are able to find out how they plan to attack us we can make sure that their plan will not be carried out. Once you have obtained 4 pages of war documents from these monsters return them to me and I will reward you greatly for your efforts. '

These 4 pages are uncommon, random drops off the Orc Centurions in Misty Thicket (outside the wall). The pages are no drop.

Dalorio Blistbobble says, 'Your good deeds shall be echoed in the Rivervale Hall of Heroes for many years to come. With these documents I will be able to have my army prepared for whatever they decide to come at us with. I thank you, young Warhumago. Please take this sword as a symbol of your loyalty to the Vale.'

Reebo Leafsway says 'Greetings and salutations, _____! My name is Reebo Leafsway, loyal Druid of [Karana]. I am in charge of helping young druids who wish to get started down the [trail to Karana's wisdom]. I also do my share of tending [crops].'

You say, 'trail to wisdom.'

Reebo Leafsway says 'Good. First you should learn that Karana's work is just that.. work. Karana provides us with the tools but it is by the sweat of our brows that we prosper. Common sense and hard work are two things that are highly prized by our people. Time for you to sweat, young one. Take this crate of carrots over to Blinza Toepopal in the Fool's Gold. They need our finest carrots for Mayor Gubbin's stew. When you return I will teach you a lesson of the Rainkeeper.

Reebo Leafsway hands you a Crate of Rotten Carrots.

Blinza Toepopal can be found at -48, -177, 2. Upon handing the Crate of Rotten Carrots to Blinza:

Many, even those you trust, will ask you to do things which you should not. Use the common sense Karana has blessed you with to know which tasks can benefit our people and which could harm them. Learn this lesson well. You will need it if you plan to adventure beyond the vale. Now take these fresh carrots to Blinza and apologize for your error. You may keep any donation she gives you as payment.'

Receive a Crate of Carrots and deliver it to Blinza.

Blinza Toepopal says 'Well it is about time! The mayor gets very upset if he does not have the freshest of carrots in his stew. Here is the money for the carrots. Be off with you. Now, where the heck did [Jillin] go?'

Reebo Leafsway hands you a Crate of Fine Carrots, which needs to be delivered to Blinza.

Blinza Toepopal says, 'Oh excellent! These carrots are perfect! The finest Reebo has ever sent us. The mayor will be so pleased. Here is the payment for the carrots. Excuse me, but I must finish preparing the stew. Hmm. Where the heck did [Jillin] go?'

Shakey the Scarecrow's Head (Unsolved): At the Tagglefoot farm, hail Shakey the Scarecrow, and one of the Leafsway NPCs will comment that Shakey isn't himself lately. There are two quests out of this: the head and the stuffing. The druid tells you that they have no idea what can be done to fix Shakey's head, and asks you to [research] the problem. There is an NPC on the top floor of the Erudin Library who has a document on the creation of Scarecrows, and she's willing to let you have a peek for the mere pittance of 2 platinum. When you give her the 2 pp she gives you a copy of a page torn out of a book and tells you that a female Teir'Dal (dark elf) was the first person to create a scarecrow head. From the information on the page it sounds like she is trapped in Mistmoore. If you identify the scroll it says "copy of miragul's scarecros research." I'm not sure where this goes.

Indications on the EQLive forums are that this quest will be fixed and finishable in the near future. Stay tuned. When it does get fixed, please supply logs of dialogues, names of quest items and combines, and trivials and faction hits where possible.
Shakey's Stuffing (Normal): You may find Shakey Scarecrow at the Tagglefoot Farm.

You say, 'Hail, Shakey Scarecrow'

Shakey Scarecrow rustles and looks up at you in acknowledgment.

Reebo Leafsway shakes his head sadly. 'Poor old [Shakey] just isn't what he used to be.'

You say, 'Who is Shakey?'

Reebo Leafsway says 'Shakey is our protector and friend. He is just getting old. Losing his [stuffing]. His [head] is getting very cracked and dry as well.'

You say, 'Stuffing?'

Reebo Leafsway says 'The hay he requires is difficult to obtain. It must have been harvested from the Plains of Karana, then cursed by a high priest of the Faceless, [Cazic-Thule]. Finally, you must cast the hay and a flask of blessed Oil of Life into an armorer's forge. Only then will the hay be ready. We Stormreapers will reward you greatly if you could accomplish this task. Remember, you must give the scarecrow stuffing to Shakey only after it has been properly prepared.'

You say, 'Cazic-Thule?'

Reebo Leafsway says 'Cazic-Thule is the dark deity of fear. He is worshiped by many evil beings. There is believed to be a ruined temple dedicated to him deep in the [Feerrott]. That would be a good place to look for one of his high priests.'

You say, 'Feerrott?'

Reebo Leafsway says 'The Feerrott is a vast rain forest in southwestern Antonica. It is home to many lizardman tribes.'

Go to the Western Plains of Karana and find a bump on the fields or follow Cleet Miller around until he drops a bale of hay. Blessed Oil has its own quest. Roror can be found west of the river in the Feerrott, and he wanders erratically.

You say, 'Hail, Roror'

Roror says 'Greeetingsssssssssss. What brings sssssuch asssss you to the heart of the Feerrott? Do you [know fear]?'

You say, 'Yes, I do know fear.'

Roror says 'Yesssss. I can tassssste the fear in your pitiful heart. I am Roror, High Priessst of Cazic-Thule! I sssseek to sssssspread terror acrossssss all of Norrath! I ssssshall let you live thisss day so you can sssshare the fear that liessss within you.'

You say, 'Bless my hay.'

Roror says 'You sssseek the blesssssssing of the Lord of Fear?! Give me what you have and 66 gold pieces as an offering to Cazic-Thule.'

Roror says 'Yesss. But remember, Cazic-Thule demandsssss both the item and 66 gold piecessss assssss an offering.'
Roror says 'Whatsssss thisssss? You sssseek my blessssssssing? Heh heh heh... Very well... CAZIC-THULE! Take this fruit of Karana into horror'sss dark embrace. Fear and death made manifesssssst. A harvesssst of terror! Here, take your gift of blood and sssstraw. Use its dark powersssss in the name of the Fear Lord!'

You receive a Sack of Cursed Hay (identifies as "Straw of Cazic-Thule"). Combine with Blessed Oil in any forge, trivial at 15 (no-fail?). The result is a Sack of Writhing Hay (identifies as "Scarecrow Stuffing") Upon giving this to Shakey:

Stoutdeacon Helm (Normal): You say, 'Hail, Thekela Meepup'

Thekela Meepup says 'It is a pleasure to meet you Geannun. I am Thekela Meepup, one of the highest ranking Clerics in all of Rivervale. I pride myself on being the mentor for all of the furryfooted that are called upon by Bristlebane to give life. If you are a [Cleric] I might have some training for you to complete if you so wish. '

You say, 'I am a Cleric'

Thekela Meepup says 'Geannun the Templar. Well I suppose that does have quite a nice ring to it don't you say? If you stick with your training perhaps this could be what you are referred to one day. Before that day though, you have a lot to learn and a lot of training ahead of you! Do you want to [begin your training] at this time? '

You say, 'I want to begin my training'

Thekela Meepup says 'Excellent! I will give you a variety of items to collect and combine in this magical assembly kit to create a material that you will use to craft armor. My hope is that as you gather these items you will learn about your home and how to navigate around the surrounding areas of the Vale. If you are ready to begin your adventure I will present you with your Magical Mail Assembly Kit and the instructions for collecting the necessary items to craft your armor. Are you [ready to receive your Magical Mail Assembly Kit]? '

You say, 'I am ready to receive my Magical Mail Assembly Kit'

Thekela Meepup says 'Here you are Geannun. Take this mail assembly kit, it is what you will use to combine the different items necessary to craft your own Platemail of the Stoutdeacon. Different combinations of items will be required from both our town and the hunting grounds in the thicket to create materials for specific armor pieces with Crude Iron Ore being the basis for all of your armor materials. When you are ready to receive a recipe for a specific material simply tell me what armor piece you [want] to craft. I will then supply you with the mold and recipe for Stoutdeacon Platemail [Helms], [Bracers], [Boots], [Armguards], [Greaves], [Gloves] and [Breastplates]. '

You say, 'I want to craft a helm'

Thekela Meepup says 'Your Helm of the Stoutdeacon will indeed be one of the most important pieces of your armor set. It is very important that you are well protected from any blows to the head while you are on the battlefield. To fashion together the material necessary for making your helm gather 2 Bricks of Crude Iron Ore, 1 Low Quality Wolf Skin, 1 Chunk of Meat and 2 Water Flasks then combine them in your assembly kit. Once you have the correct Helm material take it to the closest forge, along with this pattern and combine them to create your Helm of the Stoutdeacon. '

The Acolyte (Normal): Gapeers Johhanis is located at -240, -412 in the cleric guild in Rivervale.

You say, 'Hail, Gapeers Johhanis'

Gapeers Johhanis jumps at your voice, he's obviously very focused on a set of beakers on the table. They seem to be holding samples of rotted flesh. Gapeers says, 'Oh my heart! You could have stopped it! Please be careful when entering these chambers. It would be unfortunate if I had dropped and broken these [specimens].'

You say, 'What specimens?'

Gapeers Johhanis turns to explain the specimens when he accidentally knocks over the beakers. He sucks in a short breath as the beakers crash to the ground, ruining the samples. As Gapeers's skin loses color he says, 'OH NO!! No, not my specimens!! Now what am I to do?! I needed those badly! You did this! You [owe] me now!'

You say, 'Owe What?'

Gapeers Johhanis says 'You bet you do! You big clumsy Half Elf! These were the remains of unfortunates who were drowned. Not only were they drowned but their bodies clung to life and refused to settle. Products of the horrendous curse of unlife. I'll need you to find three [special samples] of drowned and cursed flesh.'

You say, 'What special samples?'

Gapeers Johhanis's eyes widen as he realizes you actually might intend to help him. His voice becomes raspy with desperation as he says, 'Oh! Wonderful....uuhhmmm.... well ....You'll need to find undead creatures found in the waters of three different climates. One from a tropical ocean. One from the muddy and slow moving river of a jungle. And one from the stagnate and polluted water of a city's sewer, Freeport would be ideal. Will you really [do this for me]?'

You say, 'I will do this for you.'

Gapeers Johhanis says 'Oh thank goodness! Thank you so much, ______! Those old specimens were much to ancient anyway, fresh ones will help in my mission to heal those who were unfortunate enough to drown and become cursed. If you bring back the three samples I have a little something you might like. Although it will only fit and be of use to one who heals as a profession and is small of stature like myself. Good luck!'

You say, 'what bind'

Ilscent Tagglefoot says, 'Well, I promised an ally of ours that I would send him a case of Jumjum juice for all the help he has given us. I had planned on taking it to him myself, but I have too many chores to do here on the farm. Will you take the [jumjum juice] to him?'

You say, 'yes I will take the jumjum juice to him'

Ilscent Tagglefoot says, 'Oh, thank you so much! His name is Xanuusus and he lives in the Plains of Karana, in the foothills along their northern edge, actually. We are most grateful for your help. Xanuusus normally rewards messengers well.'

You say, 'new deputy'

Marshal Lanena says, 'It is good to see such fine stock in the ranks of the Guardians. Being new, there is much to learn, in battle and in life itself. If you are not presently obligated, we have need of you here in the hollow. There seems to be a [small problem].'

You say, 'small problem'

Marshal Lanena says, 'For months, Fiddy Bobick has petitioned the marshals to assist him with a problem he has. With the addition of new deputies such as yourself, we can now give him the assistance he requires. Just go down to Bobick's shop near the lake. Tell him I sent you.'

You say, 'Hail, Fiddy Bobick'

Fiddy Bobick says, 'Ahoy, mate! The name's Fiddy Bobick! Perhaps you've heard of me... the greatest halfling to sail the seas of Norrath? I have been to the North, South, East and West, and thank Prexus, I have survived it all! Why I have returned to this little hollow is a wonder to me. Obviously, the salty air finally got to my brain!'

You say, 'Lanena sent me'

Fiddy Bobick says, 'Well, it's about blasted time! The ship was about to sink. Wickystick finally managed to send the troops in! The problem, mate, is piranha ! What?! That's what I said. Piranha! The lake is infested with the little buggers. More and more every sunrise. They're chomping down all our food supply. You have gotta get your can in the drink and kill them. Take one of their teeth to old Wickystick and see what she has to say about Fiddy then! I will also give you some booty for any teeth you pull out of this river. Well, get going, Deputy Elina!'

Jump in to the lake and start killing piranhas (be careful as they tend to come in pairs - and keep an eye on your air meter). Kill the trout to get large piranha to spawn, be careful as Chomper may also spawn!

I journeyed many years ago to the Surefall Glade far to the west of our lovely shire. It was there I trained with the human and half-elven rangers that like the Storm Reapers are faithful disciples of Karana. You say, 'what evil forces'

Megosh Thistlethorn says 'Currently the Death Fist Clan of Orcs, a race of bloodthirsty humanoids concerned only with expanding their territory and slaughtering all who stand in their path, threatens our homeland. The Orcs have long had a minor presence in the Misty Thicket but lately they have been amassing in greater numbers. The Death Fist has been chopping down our trees and quarrying rock from the nearby mountains. We know only that they have been shipping the materials to the commonlands and stockpiling it for what purpose we do not know. As rangers of the Storm Reapers it is our duty to [stop the desecration] of the thicket. '

You say, 'I will stop the desecration'

Megosh Thistlethorn says 'First you must outfit yourself for battle with the Death Fists. Seek Bipdo Hargin here in Rivervale and give him this letter. He will instruct you further on getting yourself outfitted for the tasks ahead. Once you have been outfitted in a suit of Thorn Mail Armor return to me and I will instruct you for your [next task]. '

Do you wish to craft a [thorn mail coif], a [thorn mail bracer], [thorn mail gloves], [thorn mail boots], [thorn mail sleeves], [thorn mail leggings], or a [thorn mail tunic]. '

You say, 'I wish to craft thorn mail leggings'

Bipdo Hargin says 'To assemble Thorn Mail Leggings you will require three [silk thread], two thorn drakeling scales, and two giant fruit bat furs. Once you have the necessary components combine them in your Mail Assembly Kit with this Tattered Leggings Pattern. ' Reward: Thorn Mail Leggings
