Quests for Kithicor Forest

Bearskin Gloves (Normal): There is an NPC named Ged Twigborn who hangs around another NPC and they will wander the forest at times. I usually see them in one of two places: either along the same wall as the zone to the commonlands, or by turning on the path off the main road from the sign pointing towards Freeport. Ged will make you some gloves for a price. The Bearskin Gloves cost 25 gold and a high quality bear skin.

+2 Kithicor Residents
+1 Jaggedpine Treefolk
+1 Protectors of Pine
-1 Unkempt Druids

Need missing dialogues, /loc of quest mobs. Reward: Bearskin Gloves

Grim's Tiger Revenge (Normal): If you enter Kithicor from Commonlands, then follow the right wall like you're going to Rivervale, Grim Oakfist is in a house with an innkeeper near the right wall, not too far from the ranger guild.

You must have higher than indifferent faction with the Ashen Order for Grim to give you this quest.

You say, 'Hail, Grim Oakfist'

Grim Oakfist says 'It is good to finally meet one who respects the disciplines of the Ashen Order. All I have met are rangers. They have interfered with my [mission in the woods].'

You say, 'mission in the woods'

Grim Oakfist says 'I have come here to avenge my family. One season past, they were attacked by a trio of deadly tigers. I came here to hunt the beasts down, but then I found the local rangers and residents here protect the tigers. They seem to be legends in these parts. The tigers even have name's! They call them Eenot, Reggit and Kobb. I wish I had help from a [fellow monk].'

You say, 'fellow monk'

Grim Oakfist says 'Good! The rangers are watching me so you must go alone. I can only wait until the morning, then I must go. If you find all three tigers, return their pelts to me and I shall reward you with something discovered for monks only.'

Eenot shouts 'A loud roar his heard within the woods!'

The tigers spawn after you talk to Grim. The easiest way to find these tigers is with a tracker-- but killing these tigers gives a hit to ranger/druid faction. The tigers are around level 25, but they hit in the 40's and each one drops a strange or unusual tiger pelt.

With all three pelts collected I returned to Grim.

Grim Oakfist says 'I asked you to hunt down all three of the tigers.'
Grim Oakfist says 'I asked you to hunt down all three of the tigers.'
Grim Oakfist says 'Good work. I hope you had no run ins with the local rangers. Here is my reward. An object from the past which I found in my journeys. Wish that I could reward also with [treant fists].'

Your faction standing with Ashen Order has been adjusted by 10.
Your faction standing with Knights of Truth has been adjusted by 1.
Your faction standing with Silent Fist Clan has been adjusted by 1.
You gain party experience!!

You say, 'What treant fists'

Grim Oakfist says 'The treant fists were created by great craftsmen. They are for the fists of a monk and offer greater dexterity and increase the durability of one's soul. My last pair were given to Master Puab of the Ashen House training grounds.'

This leads into the quest "The Treant Fists"

Sometimes after the turn-in Grim despawns and one of the other NPCs that share his spawn point spawns. Reward: Collar of Neshika

Halloween: Trick or Treat for the Old Man (Normal): This quest was introduced in October 2005 and is available every year around Halloween.

It's one of five tasks required to receive a Bone Mask of Horror (illusion click item).

Old Man Draykey is found in the northwest corner of Kithicor Forest at about 1915, 4535.

You say, 'Hail, Old Man Draykey'.

Old Man Draykey says 'Greetings, _____! Have you [come to participate] in the festivities?''

You say, 'I have come to participate.'

Old Man Draykey says 'Excellent, excellent! For those of you that enjoy trick-or-treating I have set up an event beyond anything you have done before. I will have convinced ten...well beings...not all of them are really people, to help with this. It's a very tricky endeavor, with highly complex [instructions]. Prepare yourself and then I will reveal the secrets to you.'

You say, 'What instructions?'

Old Man Draykey says 'First of all you need to know how to properly speak with these people. Once you find them, you simply need to say 'Trick or treat', and see what they have to say in return. I have compiled a list of my helpers around Norrath and have written them down in my book. As I have said, there are ten people each with a piece of candy you'll need to collect. Once you've collected all ten return to me with the full bag.'

You receive Draykey's Codex, a book of hints as to where to find the mobs, and a Trick-or-Treat Bag (10-slot GIANT container).

The Codex reads:

Search out those that have treats for you. Here is a small list of clues as to where they can be found.

4. Wanders in a pit in the land of his kind.
5. A short man in an icy land, food can be found in his hands.

7. He found out the hard way that drinking and swordplay do not mix.
8. Hidden away in the caves of his lair.
9. Toiling in the fields of the gnoll's family.
10. He's fallen down the stairs, but it's been kept under wraps.

The goal of the quest is to /target and say "Trick or treat" to 10 NPCs.

NOTE: Sometimes the NPC will "trick" you and give you something like Coal, Sand, or Pocket Lint. If you receive a "trick" instead of the "treat," you need to zone out and back in again to say "trick or treat" again (and keep doing so until you get a treat).

You say, 'I want to earn the ivy etched boots.'

Leaf Falldim says 'If you wish the ivy etched boots, you shall do me a favor. I am testing new arrow tips and wish a few of the hardest minerals I know of. From the mines of the Temple of Solusek Ro, ronium. From the land of Mistmoore, fetch me Mistmoore granite. Return these to me along with a guild offering of 2000 gold pieces.'

The bottom Rune of Ivy comes from a named orc, Redwind, in Everfrost Peaks. The water ring is from an aqua goblin tidal lord in Dagnor's Cauldron. Upon handing in all three items:

You say, 'Hail, Leaf Falldim'

Leaf Falldim says 'Greetings, _____! Respect the woods and all its inhabitants or face the wrath of the rangers. Do not end up like [Maldyn Greenburn].'

You say, 'Who was Maldyn Greenburn?'

Leaf Falldim says 'Maldyn was once one of us. He was the finest of archers. Everyone aspired to be like him. He soon was tempted to hunt. The animals of these woods found themselves nothing more than moving targets for Maldyn's training. We held a trial and exiled him to parts unknown. He would take with him Morin's [Bow of Kithicor]. I was asked to find a worthy ranger to [retrieve the bow].'

You say, 'What is the Bow of Kithicor?'

Leaf Falldim says 'The Bow of Kithicor was carved from an ancient tree. It has great powers which were attributed to a portion of the tree's mana. I seek a brave ranger to [retrieve the bow].'

You say, 'I will retrieve the bow'

Leaf Falldim says 'Search the lands of the Unkempt Druids in the Rathe Mountains. I have heard of his arrows being found inside its territories and of his death wish to hunt down its leader. Retrieve the bow and return it to me and I shall give you the ivy etched gauntlets.'

Hunt down Maldyn Greenburn (a wayward master archer) in the Rathe Mountains by the unkempt druids and retreive Broken Bow Part A.

Part B drops from Slaythe the Slayer in Lower Guk.

After handing in Broken Bow Part A and Broken Bow Part B:

Leaf Falldim says 'This is but a portion of the bow. I must have the other part.'

Leaf Falldim says 'You have performed well, brave ranger. Put these upon your hands. Protection from the strongest of bowstring and magic are their greatest power. I do believe we have another mission which may yield you the [ivy etched leggings].'

You say, 'What ivy armor?'

Gandari says 'I reward brave rangers with ivy etched armor - [helm]s, [tunic]s, [sleeves] and [bracers]. [Interested]?'

You say, 'I am interested in a helm.'

Gandari says 'I do not haggle; I do not bargain. The top of the Rune of Ivy from Castle Mistmoore, a cyclops charm from Tarskuk and a sapphire of sky blue. Bring these to me and you shall earn your reward.'

Head to Rathe Mountains. The monster that you need is Tarskuk, a named cyclops. Near the zone line to Lake Rathetear is a large open area set with a wide hill, atop which are two stone arms and hands that reach toward the sky (location +3270, +1640). On and around this hill, are the placeholders of Tarskuk: giant skeletons, cyclopses, lizardman warriors, and lizardman mystics. Kill them until Tarskuk spawns.

Kill Tarskuk and loot the "Cyclops Charm". There are no faction hits for killing Tarskuk.

Travel to Faydwer and zone into Castle Mistmoore. Hunt the interior of the castle proper for "a deathly usher". There are several that will be up at any given time.

Kill deathly ushers until you loot the "Rune of Ivy". This item identifies as "Rune of Ivy (top)".

Travel to any city and find a gem merchant. Purchase one Sapphire.

Head back to Kithicor Forest and return to Gandari. Give her the sapphire, the Rune of Ivy, and the Cyclops Charm.

Ivy Etched Leggings (Normal): In the north central part of Kithicor Forest, find Leaf Falldim (location +1393, +2279).

At the completion of the Ivy Etched Gauntlets quest, Leaf makes reference to a subsequent quest that gives the Ivy Etched Leggings.

You say, 'Tell me about the ivy etched leggings...'

Leaf Falldim says 'I will make you an offer. If you be a ranger, as they are made for only a ranger, you must venture to Faydwer. There you shall seek out Lieutenant Leafstalker of the Kelethin army. He sent a message of his retrieval of the Quiver of Kithicor. Tell him you want it and return it to me. Oh... and one more [small item].'

You say, 'What small item?'

Leaf Falldim says 'Along with the quiver you shall journey to Erudin and purchase a Star of Odus gem to add to the quiver. Consider the coins you shall spend an offering to the woods.'

Travel to the city of Kelethin within Greater Faydark. Lieutenant Leafstalker is a wood elf guard that roams the platforms of Kelethin near the ranger guild hall.

You say, 'Hail, Lieutenant Leafstalker'

Lieutenant Leafstalker says 'Hail!! Respect all laws in Kelethin and her territory and you shall live a fruitful life.'

You say, 'I want the quiver of Kithicor'

Lieutenant Leafstalker says 'Ummm.. I have some bad news. I did find it, but a band of brownie outcasts came in the night, took [all of the arrows] from the quiver and ran back to the forest they came from. As if that were not enough, while I was hot on their little heels, the thief [Wiltin Windwalker] came into Kelethin and took the quiver itself. Whew!! What a day!'

You say, 'What of all the arrows?'

Lieutenant Leafstalker says 'All of the arrows are gone. You must get the arrows of recognition, acknowledgment, defiance, gallantry, bravery and fortitude. Get them from the brownie outcasts and combine them in the quiver.'

You say, 'Who is Wiltin Windwalker?'

Lieutenant Leafstalker says 'Wiltin Windwalker!! Traitor he is! He left Kelethin to join the Pirates of Gunthak. I heard news that the Royal Navy of Ak'Anon sank the pirate ship he was on in the Ocean of Tears. What I don't get is where those little gnomes moor their ships. They have no harbor!! But that is another story.'

Head to Lesser Faydark. Brownie outcasts (the exact name is a brownie outcast) are random spawns around the Pixie Tower (location +1340, +2840). The place holders are pixie tricksters and pixie pranksters. Killing these in the area near the Pixie Tower will cause brownie outcasts to spawn.

Keep killing brownie outcasts until you have at least one, each, of:

Arrow of Acknowledgment
Arrow of Bravery
Arrow of Defiance
Arrow of Fortitude
Arrow of Gallantry
Arrow of Recognition

Each of these arrows is NO TRADE. However, they are not LORE and are stackable to 100 per stack just like all other arrows.

Note: The pixie merchants located inside the tower on the upper floor are not on Pixie faction. So, killing the tricksters and pranksters will not affect your ability to buy and sell from the pixie merchants in the tower.

After collecting at least one of each of the six arrows, head to Seafury Island in the Ocean of Tears to find Wiltin Windwalker (location +2022, -3615). His placeholder is 'a buccaneer'.

Wiltin Windwalker says 'Dead men tell no tales!!'

You have slain Wiltin Windwalker!
Wiltin Windwalker's corpse says 'You have run me through! Beware the Pirates of Gunthak.. They will avenge me. . . Unngh!!'
Your faction standing with Pirates Of Gunthak got worse.
Your faction standing with Inhabitants of Firiona Vie got better.

Loot the "Quiver of Kithicor - open".

The 'Quiver of Kithicor - open' is a 6-slot container. Place one, each, of the six arrows looted previously from the brownie outcasts into this quiver and click Combine. You will now have a 'Quiver of Kithicor - full' which is not a container.

Head to the continent of Odus. Enter Erudin Palace and find the merchant, Anite Gemcutter (location +784, +599, -13). Buy one Star of Odus from her.

Head back to Kithicor forest and return to Leaf Falldim. Give him the Star of Odus and the closed Quiver of Kithicor.

Leaf Falldim says 'Wonderful!! I see he did find it. How lucky we are that he did all the hard work. My thanks to you are embodied in these ivy etched leggings. Now you may [earn the ivy etched boots] to go along with them.'

Lionskin Gloves (Normal): There is an NPC named Ged Twigborn who hangs around another NPC and they will wander the forest at times. I usually see them in one of two places: either along the same wall as the zone to the commonlands, or by turning on the path off the main road from the sign pointing towards Freeport.

Ged will make you some gloves for a price. The lionskin gloves cost 96 gold and a high quality lion skin.

In order to get the lionskin gloves, you need a high faction with Ged, which you can get by killing Shralok Orcs in the Forest. High Quality Lion Skins are dropped by Highland Lions in EK. I have been told that a tiger spawns some times in the south west corner of Kith forest near the orc spawn and gives a high quality skin as well.

Need missing dialogues, current faction hits if any, /loc of quest mobs. Reward: Lionskin Gloves

Morin's Sword (Normal): Morin Shadowbane, the ranger guildmaster of the forest, sends you on a Quest for the new Ranger only weapon, the Short Sword of Morin. There are two ways to get the sword. (1) If you trade in an Ebony Bladed Sword to Morin, you will get a Short Sword of Morin , a Ranger only weapon; or (2) Morin will also tell you that he will give you his personal sword if you find and kill the Ghoul Messenger, who is located "between Kithicor and the Karanas" and bring back his note, or whatever he drops. The messenger spawns somewhere in Western Karana, is tough to anyone not in his 30's, and is always running. He drops a map of Kithicor. Take that map back and you will also receive the sword. You get the same sword for doing this as for trading the Ebony Bladed Sword. He then might tell you about the Quest for the Orc Impaler, which I have listed under Lesser Faydark quests.

Some of the dialogue:

You say, 'Hail, Morin Shadowbane'

Morin Shadowbane says, 'Hail, Elina! I am the leader of this beleaguered troop of rangers. Even though the once fair Kithicor slowly succumbs to the [darkness] at hand, we shall not abandon the woods without a fight.'

You say, 'darkness'

Morin Shadowbane says, 'The denizens of these woods are slowly being overrun by dark fiends and shadowed men. As valiantly as we have fought, our numbers dwindle. We know very little about our aggressors, but if we [acquire some information] or perhaps [fine weapons], then we may yet have a chance to retake the woods once more.'

You say, 'acquire some information'

Morin Shadowbane says, 'Your tracking skills are invaluable to our cause, brave Elina. Our scouts have reported sightings of a ghoul messenger. They have spotted him traveling between Kithicor and an undead camp in the Plains of Karana. They have attempted to track the monster and obtain any strategic documentation he may be carrying. Perhaps you can succeed where others have failed. Perhaps you may even earn my personal short sword.'

You say, 'fine weapons'

Morin Shadowbane says, 'My soldiers are valiant, but poorly equipped. I have heard of a magical weapon of great power, some call it the ebony blade. Amongst the frogloks there can be found a minotaur who wields this sword of might. If you are a ranger and could provide me with this sword, I would gladly exchange it with my own meager weapon. If you prefer, you may attempt to [acquire some information] for us instead.'

After turnin of the strategic map of kithicor off the Ghoul Messenger:

Morin Shadowbane says, 'Excellent work, Elina! It is obvious that you are a highly skilled tracker and warrior. Accept this reward, my personal sword which has served me well in countless battles. Perhaps you are willing to perform [another service] on our behalf?'
You gain experience!

You say, 'another service'

Morin Shadowbane says, 'Very well then. Your help will bring us closer to solving the mystery of Kithicor! Find Bryn Fynndel in the Lesser Faydark and tell him Morin sent you. His band of elven warriors are observing the activities of the Crushbone orcs and Mistmoore dark elves. Perhaps you can help them shed some light on our plight.'

No faction hits.

Need all dialogues, /loc of quest mobs. Reward: Short Sword of Morin

Ratskin Gloves (Normal): Ged Twigborn wanders around 85.17, 1882.11, in Kithicor Forest.

You say, 'Hail, Ged Twigborn'

Ged Twigborn says 'Hello, ______. What brings you to this neck of the woods? You must have heard of my expert tanning skills. I craft some of the finest skin garments this side of Highpass Hold.'

You say, 'What garments?'

Ged Twigborn says 'Gloves are my specialty. I make four varieties; ratskin, wolfskin, bearskin, and my most sought after type, lionskin.'

You say, 'What ratskin gloves?'

Ged Twigborn says 'Interested in some ratskin gloves, are you? Well, before I can start, I need you to provide me a giant rat pelt and 6 gold pieces. I need to make a living at this, after all..'

Upon hand-in:

Ged Twigborn says 'Ok! Let me see here.. Hmmm.. Oh, excellent.. Here you go. Some of my finest work, if I must say so myself.'

Stanos' Head (Normal): This is actually a subquest of the Rogue Epic quest, but since it has it's own reward, I'm listing it separately. General V'ghera is a triggered spawn.

Ask General V'ghera about Stanos and he says:

"Stanos? Stanos!! That dog, I WILL see him dead for what he cost me. Outcast I am, stripped of my position, my god has forsaken me, blaming ME for the loss of some tome. And you, Melchiord, you have aided him. For that, you will die first. Please, struggle and beg, I do so enjoy watching my victims squirm, and I have little joy left in my life now. If you want my favor, perhaps if you came bearing Stanos' head I would be more forgiving. But I doubt it."

Head over to Highpass and kill Stanos (bring lots of friends) and loot his head.

Your faction standing with Highpass Guards has been adjusted by -400.
Your faction standing with Carson McCabe has been adjusted by -60.
Your faction standing with Merchants of Highpass has been adjusted by -60.
Your faction standing with Corrupt Qeynos Guards has been adjusted by -20.
Your faction standing with The Freeport Militia has been adjusted by -20.

When you bring the head back to V'ghera, you get a nice reward.

General V`ghera says 'Life is indeed sweet! Thank you, ______, you have done me a great service this day. Take this, Stanos was kind enough to return it to me, and I have no use for it now. Know that you have the blessing of Innoruuk for this deed! But of course, I leave it to you to leave here alive. A leader has to feed his minions, you know.'

Your faction standing with Fallen of Bloody Kithicor has been adjusted by 500.
Reward: Guise of the Coercer

The Orc Impaler (Normal): This initiates with Morin in Kithicor after you do the short sword of Morin quest, but most of the quest takes place in Lesser Faydark.

Tell Bryn (wood elf camp in LFay) that "Morin sent me" and he'll tell you that the shadowmen are invading and need to be stopped. He sends you to kill the Shadowman Leader who spawns along the north wall in Lesser Faydark around 1800, -400. He's high 30's and has a 25 min placeholder, so it may be a long camp. Kill him and he sometimes drops a book, which you need to return to Bryn. When you give him the book, Glidara Myllar spawns by the undead marker. Bryn tells you to give her a note. Give her the note and she gives you a ring (+5 magic save) to return to her along with a Ghoul Boss codebook.

The Ghoul Boss is a rare spawn at the Undead Marker in the place of a Skeleton (despite being called a ghoul, he looks like a skeleton and needs to be targetted to find out who he is). He's mid 30's. Kill him and he drops the book. Return the book and ring to Gilindar and she gives you a note to take back to Morin, in Kithicor. Give to him and he gives you a note to take back to Bryn. Give this last note to Bryn and you get their finest weaponry: The Orc Impaler.

A shortcut to do this is to kill the ghoul boss first, then go after the Shadowman Leader. Then turn in the Leader's Code Book to Bryn, get the ring from Glidara Myllar, and promptly return it with the Ghoul Boss's Logbook.

Need missing dialogues, current faction hits if any, /loc of quest mobs. Reward: Orc Impaler

Wolfskin Gloves (Normal): There is an NPC named Ged Twigborn who wanders the forest. He can usually be spotted in one of two places: Either along the same wall as the zone to the Commonlands, or by turning on the path off the main road from the sign pointing towards Freeport.

Ged will make you some Wolfskin Gloves if you give him 13 gold and a high quality wolf pelt.
