Guild Wars 2: Meet the Consortium

ArenaNet has released a new video covering the lore behind the Living Story in Guild Wars 2. In this video, Narrative Designer Scott McGough talks all about the Consortium. He says what players see is 90% of what is going on, like how the Consortium is trying to make Southsun a paradise and the refugees were locked into a contract to live and work on the island.

Scott McGough also makes an interesting point of how the top brass at the Consortium (the 10%) have never been to Southsun, thus only see the reports that the paradise isn't prospering and none of the dangers the island presents. Are the big wigs back at the Consortium HQ really spinning nefarious plots or are they just wholly misinformed to the dangers? Check out the video below and let us know what you think.

World of Warcraft: Redemption

With the recent news that World of Warcraft has lost 1.3 million subscribers in the last 3 months, the imminent patch 5.3 suddenly carries a lot of importance. Bear in mind that, although the patch brings a lot of changes and fixes as well as some new content, 5.3 isn’t a major content patch, so will it be enough to keep players interested? Let’s take a look at why we should stick around for patch 5.3.

Layoffs Hit Trion

It appears that an unconfirmed number of employees at Trion Worlds have just received a terrible end to the week. According to reports from both IGN and Kotaku, between 70% and 80% of the company have been let go this afternoonUpdate: Trion has been in contact and stated that  the rumored figures are a large exaggeration and do not reflect the restructuring accurately.

Following a disappointing launch and lackluster reception at the hands of critics, Defiance has struggled despite recently clocking up over a million registered users. The TV series has fared significantly better by comparison, with SyFy recently renewing the show for a second season.
