What Happened:

1) A lot of summoners are pretty stuck up. but getting to be a high level summoner is hard work!
2) There is a general frowning upon of ppl below level 60 getting the Prime fights.
3) ppl in general are just rude and like to make fun of other people

If you posted "hey can someone help me get all the whispers? I'm lv 36" or whatever, then i could understand their reaction. since you were merely asking if it was POSIBLE, then all they really should have done was say no and why.


I didn't really read all of it tho, cuz i'm lazy like that, and ppl like that make me angry and i got my AF today and don't want to ruin my mood :p

It's not that it isn't possible, because it is if he can find the help.

As I mentioned on the thread, I don't care if he leeches the fight or not since that's his business. The only problem I had with his posts was when he kept making it out to be hard work for him even though he openly admits to being a leech in all the fights. Aside from buying Oils and Powders to get himself to the Cloisters/Fountain, all he has to do is find people to leech off of then sit back and reap the rewards while they do all the work.

Mazu: People will call you a leech (among other things) for trying to accomplish your goal, but just remember that the majority of them will forget once something else catches their attention, so just ignore them and focus on your goal. However there may be some that will remember and may avoid you because of it, but they should be only a few.

I can sort of understand why people went off the deep end there.

But I don't agree with how they did it. If I may, let's put things into perspective, as I understand things.

SMN was an end-game job. When it was first available, you had Carby, and that's about it. Avatar fights needed 60+ pt of 6 to reliably make it, and win the fights. We all know that it's not the case now, but then, it was, not many had them, so it was pretty hard finding a duo or trio of lvl 70+ SMN to help you get the prime avatars.

Now, eventually, people complained about not getting the avatars unless they had 60+ jobs. Square added the lvl 20 fights to let smns get the avatars earlier. While still challenging, these fights can be won. But Fenrir isn't one of them. He's still a lvl 70+ fight, as was intended.

Now, nothing stops you from getting the avatars through leeching (let's not lie to ourselves, it is leeching) and benefiting from high-lvl help. Hell, I even do help low level members of my LS with arduous tasks, like getting a skull for the sub-job quest... but actually, most people accept that.

Now, if Fenrir was meant as a lvl 70+ fight, and you get it at 37, as I gather you are now, more power to you! But you're not getting congratulations for me, because you didn't get Fenrir, your friends got it for you, there's a subtle difference here. As stated in that other thread, other than the wow factor, you're not getting much out of the pup till the later levels. And some people will consider you as they consider gil buyers or sellers or whatever because you diverged from the usual, meant path, that the game puts in place. You claim they have to let you be, but they have a right to their opinion. You're doing this because you chose to. They chose to not be happy with it, and let it be known, albeit, a bit too vigorously. I kinda feel you brought this on yourself by asking this in the smn forum.

I myself chose to lvl blm to 75, rng is presently my alternate job I enjoy, but eventually, I will fight the prime avatars, fight them a second time to get the whispers and tackle Fenrir before I lvl smn. Why? Because I wanna choose the path that SE first made through the game, and I enjoy tackling fights like these with my LS. SMN is fun to lvl, but it's not my main right now. It is yours, but you chose a path that won't make you be liked by those who don't cater for high-level help...it's their right not to like this just as much as it's yours to actually do it this way.

ya i understand and agree with them. most summoners dont have fenrir till they're well past 60. you get on there and ask them to spoon feed you a walk through, as a level 37 summoner, on how to get something they spent most of their game lives wishing for.

I find it appalling that a level 36 smn doesn't even have fenrir yet. Absolutely disgusting. If I had a character that high I would never invite you to my party. If you need any help I'll bring my uber 72 rdm for free- did I say 72? I meant 32- because,well, I put so much time, hard work and dedication into getting my character that high in the past 10 months or so I think its time to give back to the community. You may not have Fenrir but we love you anyways Maz.

Well ya gotta kinda understand where some of those guys are coming from.

Remember in the good old days you couldn't lvl up to 20, then get all the avatars minus fenrir. In the old days, you had to lvl a job up past at least 60, build good fame in all the cities, then get an entire (skilled) party together to beat the avatars. Now, 2 yag drinks and a few minutes later and you've got yourself an avatar at lvl 20. So they're still a bit peeved about that.

To a lot of summoners, myself included, Fenrir is the "holy grail" of avatar-dom. Some of us want him ASAP and are willing to pay for it. If you are one of those, I say more power to you. Some of us, myself included, are just sort of waiting until 70+ to get it ourselves *with* the summoner job.

People seemed to get far too upset for wanting to get Fenrir early. I say if you have a group of friends who are willing to let you "leech" fenrir, then fine. Though I wouldn't take it as an easy feat. Fenrir can whipe out parties of lvl 70+. Take it seriously, make sure you've got a competent group, and if you get it...then grats!

Unfortunatly, if I see anyone under 60 with Fenrir I tend to think that they have some job over 60 with some kind of knowledge about the game.

Fenrir wasn't added for every summoner, he was added for the summoners that actually did the hard work at getting these things.

Leech Fenrir All you want.

In the end it will only cost you your

a) Dignity ( A lot of people will disrespect you for it)
b) Pride ( You cannot claim you actually worked for it, since a lvl 36 cannot actually do anything usefull in the Fenrir fight)
c) Credibility ( Trust me, I know some people that begged for everything. I think I recall Dblock begging for help with carby mittens, Fenrir and so on. Funny thing is, this generally gets you disrespect.)

Tomiko, as far as saying people will need something and forget about it and leech. Here's something.

I have yet to "Leech and pay" for anything I have accomplished.

I have yet to beg and pay people to get me anything I own/possess.

I can say that everything I have and have accomplished, has been from MY hard work. Not many people can say that, but at least the people that do, have something to be proud about.

No offence and all, its just the way a lot of people see it. I wont have my puppy until I am lvl 70+ Because I do not wish to leech it.

Fact of the matter is, it's a game. Do what you want, but don't get upset if you take heat for suggesting you "leach" for you summoner. You have to understand that for a while, you had to have a job 60-70+ to have ANY summon other then carby. In knowing this, I can understand why some smns could get upset about hearing an up and comer do virtually nothing in a fight for the "uber" summon.

The way I see it is this. Smn was unappealing without all those summons at an early level. So they implamented the mini-avater fights and at the same time threw in Fenrir. Obviously Fenrir is a "bonus" to smns, showing that they have conquered the original tasks at hand.

As for your original topic, I read the first 5-10 posts, and it seemed as if people were trying to answer your questions, Cleveland from this server comes to mind. Expect to take flames from a thread, why complain about it?

Don't take this the wrong way, but you really have to try and stop seeing things your way and see things the way other people see them to understand why you're being flamed again.

You're trying to get an endgame summon mid-game. You're doing it by surviving to the fights, then letting other 70+ people do the actual avatar fights. Then, you'll have a sweet pup that you'll be proud to have.

Other people played through the game without him. They waited a long time. They had moments with barely any invites. Then, they got to 60+, they did the prime fights. Then, at 70+ they did Fenrir. Now they have the pup too. They had to work for it, by lvling to that level WITHOUT Fenrir, with some people judging them, suffering through it.

Now, you come on the smn forum, ask if it's doable. Logically, some are insulted by it, because the way they see it is simple: a low level smn doesn't want to deal with the hardships they had to get one of the few good things they get 70+, and to top it off, he's having other 70+ working for him to get him that.

I'm not saying I agree with how they treated you, and I'm not judging you from doing it this way, but hey... you think it's okay, they think it's not. They have absolutely every right to be pissed, while you have the right to ignore them, go your merry way and do it. What's a bit presomptuous is posting here, and expecting moral support from everyone ~_~

I got my first avatar yesterday, we tackled Ramuh. And at lvl 55, I felt bad because while I did my part of the deal, damage, backup healing, and the all important MB twice during the fight, I felt as if I wasn't giving my pt all they could use from me. They were lvl 63 on average, all members of my LS. We're tight-knit so they wanted me to come along. If you can deal with this feeling of not being useful at all to get the primes defeated, you're better than I am. But you can't expect the majority of people being happy for you. They had to work to get it, you only have to do PART of the work. With sneak and invisi, it's still dangerous, but far from impossible to get to every cloister you'll need to go to. Hell, even at 55, the mobs were IT to me near the Ramuh cloister in Boyhada tree.

Sadly, you did bring this down on you, by not being aware of how people feel about Fenrir. There is no one who's right or wrong in this argument. Just people who do or don't share your particular view on this.
